Front camera not working - Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus Questions & Answers

Please help. My mi pad 4 plus front camera does not work. Seems not existing. Anyone with the same issue? I bought my tablet already unlocked with a vendor ROM which I have replaced with xiaomi.eu ROM 10.3 version. I have the tablet for a couple of months but incredibly only tried the front camera now, and to my surprise it is not working.

I have the same problem as you.
Have you solved it?

Same issue here :/

No i could not solve it. What about you?

I also couldn't find a solution for this problem.

Its not connected!
Believe it or not as embarrassing as it must be for xiaomi i've had two of these plus models and both had the same issue. I opened one just to find out the camera module is glued with tape to the board but not connected. From the scale of it i understand there must be some manufacturing defect. But it helped. For both mi pads.

Touch issues

Got my phone this Sunday. I had LG G2 previously. Performance and battery backup wise this phone is comparable to G2. What bugs me is the touch performance. I can't seem to make horizontal swipes work properly. Majority of the time, the phone detects it as vertical swipes.
I then have to scroll down again and very precisely swipe left or right. Anyone else have this issue. Note that the same apps and my swiping methods have worked flawlessly with G2 which I had for more than two years.

Yup even happenes to me... Especially clearing the notifications,...
But it doesn't happen in CM!!!
This is certainy an OS issue, try updating to global beta or, to diagnose the problem, go to developer tools-> show touch information, and if you see some weird shaping lines and not the actual line you drew on the screen, with a little overflow, you might have a hardware problem.
Hope this helps

That is absolutely a relief knowing that it doesn't happen to CM. So It's definitely just an MIUI issue. Thanks for letting us know.
The same problem here in my mi5 (rom MIUI 8 Italia based on latest china developer)

The same problem for me: Mi5 (rom MIUI 8 Italia based on latest china developer).
Horizontal swipes seems too sensitive
I installed cyanogenmod and the touch gestures works Pretty good! Maybe miui 8 calibration has to be patched

it isn't hardware issue: I installed Cyanogenmod rom and with it touch sensibility is ok
I also have some issues while using the official miui global rom. But with both, cm13 and cm14.1 everything works flawless! So you should think about flashing it and seeing if its a hardware issue.

Welcome to the club, I had already a indentical tread like this, same one! To me this touch it's so annoying, because I constantly have to do something on my oneplus x brothers phone and my previously Xperia z5 father's phone, and the touch of then it's so much smoother... If I had knowledge of this issue previously it certainly would have been a deal breaker.. Im waiting for my boot unlocker SMS from Xiaomi... My biggest fear it's that the camera quality be much worst on CM 13, it is??

You are right. Been to CM13, and now back to MIUI 8 because I need the camera quality of MIUI. Well, its just now a matter of preference to me.
I have some problems with touch on my Mi5.
I'am on global developer (official ota) version, and I have sharp lcd on my Mi5.
From time to time, touch is loosing smoothness and look like is ''brooke''/not perform normal.
When this happens, only resete helps.
Right now, 2 days works normal.
Before thet, 10 days was normal, and than problem was there.
Is it any solution, but I want stay with MIUI?
Thanks and best regards.
The touchscreen is not working properly with the Nillkin Tempered Glass applied.
Every time I charge my phone with my Blitzwolf QC 3.0 charger, I have issues with the touchscreen. To resolve this, I need to reboot the phone. After the reboot, the touchscreen response is back to normal.
It looks like the charging changes the way the capacitive touchscreen works. Until I reboot the phone.

It happens the same to me, after charging the touch responsiveness most of the time is very slow and buggy, a reboot is needed. I'm on LineageOS and have tempered glass on, but can't remeber which one.
I'm happy to find that somebody else has this issue since I was thinking it was just on my phone, but this seems to be some kind of different issue then.
I can confirm that Xiaomi Mi 5s 3GB 64GB Golden version with Global 8.0.3.0 MAGMIDI Stable has this issue, the touch screen is not reliable, sometimes we try to swype horizontally and it understands a vertical swype, in other hand, it also happens that you touch the screen at one point and it thinks that you were holding the screen on that pointing, popping out a holding option.
I reported on Xiaomi's official forum, it's good to report there in order to get their attention.

The second issue you're reporting happens to me only with xMIUI xposed module, I activated 'expand notification with one finger swipe downward' and I has that issue too, but I don't have it without that module. Could this be your problem?

Camera zoom issue. Anyone else?

So if I zoom in my phone will vibrate and the image is extremely blurry. It seems to be a known issue as Samsung forums are filled with threads about it but no solution except send for service. The problem reoccurs after service, cam module replacement, so seems like a software issue. Very unacceptable. Any fixes? Anyone else dealing with this?
Same problem here. Search the forum. There's already a big thread about it.

Same issue here, wobbly picture as soon as the x2 zoom camera is used.
It started 2 or 3 months ago (I bought my note 9 in December, 512GB European model)
If I focus on an object a foot or two from the camera it stops wobbling for a few seconds which allows me to take a shot quickly... The "live focus" mode doesn't work either (it uses the zoom camera for the effect)
I've also read that getting the camera replaced didn't help, but I wonder if these are real stories or just a rumour.
In any case, like many people I'm waiting a bit longer to see if Samsung publicly acknowledges the problem before getting it replaced under warranty.

The problems been around since last year. The Samsung members forum is full of these complaints. I doubt they'll make anything official now that we're getting closer to the note 10 release. I just decided to skip out on the next note

Ring Samsung and get it fixed via warranty ? As thats a manufacturing defect, if my Note had a issue like yours i would get Samsung to fix it.. if they dont fix it, i would get it replaced with a brand new Note-9 from Samsung. That's what warranty is for!
I have this problem also, i have no problem when using the google camera app zoom so i will stick with it it's even better than the stock Samsung camera app.

Had this.. fixed in samsung service...since im rooted price was around 110 euro..
Same issue
Yeah same issue here. The camera itself seems to be vibrating and making a noise like it's struggling to focus. I had the device replaced and the camera worked for 4 months and started to play up again. Honestly happened with my Note 4 as well, although the Note 4 could be slapped out of it at least. Very frustrating.
When I upgraded to android 10 my vibration camera problem disappeared.

I never notice any camera zoom issues with my N960N, when I was using it running android pie. I haven't tested it running on android 10 as I have managed to fix my N950N. As my N960N is now a backup device, which I backup my N950N to frequently.

Primary camera lens vibrates, buzzes and jitters

Hi All,
The primary camera lens has started making buzzy sounds, it vibrates very bad and because of these, the camera interface is all jittery and wavy now.
I guess its a hardware issue, may be adhesive for the camera lens is super weak.
Secondary lens is intact and works perfect and so does the front facing one. Its just the primary camera lens.
Need some expert opinion on what is going on here.
I am holding the indian tencent variant as everyone is calling it.
Thanks in Advance

Hmm well surely if the phone has a physically defective camera lens, it needs returning to the seller...
I heard Galaxy s9 had the same issue which was fixed with a software update. So I am trying to gain a second thought here.

Ahh, ok. :good:
I thought the Asus Zenfone 6 has the same camera module (excluding the selfie camera) and I doubt if there have been reports of such problems.
Hopefully, it can be fixed through software.
Have you tried using gcam to see if it does the same?

Xiaomi Mi 8 random reboot, WIFI and SIM issues - hardware replacement necessary?

Hello fellow nerds,
I bought a Xiaomi Mi 8 global 1.5 years ago. I was pretty sastisfied with it until a few days ago it suddenly started to behave very strangely. The problems are similar to some earlier posts in this forum: random lost of WIFI and cellular connection as well as random restarts. I tried out the following steps to solve this problem, but nothing worked for me:
1) Waiting patiently until the problem solves itself
2) Hard-Reset
3) Flashing new Firmware using XiaoMiTool V2
4) Flashing new Firmware using Fastboot
Does anyone have another idea what I could try out? I really don't want to buy a new phone as the Mi 8 fulfilled all my needs. If it's a hardware issue, is it possible to fix it on my own? I already have experience in opening phones and replacing parts of phones of other brands.
Thanks a lot!
it looks like we are all having the same problem.

Friend, if you already have experience disassembling the Xiaomi mi 8, I recommend that you disassemble the motherboard, remove the processor shield, clean the thermal paste that comes from the factory and place a 1mm thick thermal pad, replace the shield that you removed and replace Another thermal pad between the shield and the aluminum base of the display so that when you place the rest and fasten the screws, exert a slight pressure on the SoC of the processor, I tell you from my own experience, since my Xiaomi had the same problem and with I solved that, I already have 3 months without any failure and that I use my xiaomi intensively to play and watch movies

Thanks a lot for your reply, felixpaz1992! Since I have no other clue, I want to try your suggestion.
How did you get the idea to exchange the thermal pad? As far as I can remember, I had no trouble with the Mi 8 becoming too hot.
Thanks again!

I first thought that the baseband problem was due to software, I tried everything original and custom and none solved it, another suggestion was to edit the NV file, it didn't work either, I tried restoring persist and it didn't work either, then I realized that the cell phone was heating up a lot and I thought it could be a problem with the wifi IC (Integrated Circuit), but inspecting and measuring with a tester I did not see or find anything strange, so I decided to disassemble and reassemble the wifi and there it worked for 2 or 3 days, one Once there I realized that it worked because when lowering and re-soldering the wifi hot air reached the SoC and there it worked, then 2 heating pads not mainly for heating but rather so that once armed it exerts a slight pressure on the SoC already that the baseband is integrated and if it does not make good contact with the welds, the problem of random reboots occurs and we are left without IMEI, that is, without, wifi, Bluetooth and GPS
it is not hardware problem, i think the bug is something regarding to region, "find device", google service or android 10.
xiaomi must fix it by update. it is a software bug.
the update 11.0.5.0 with android 10 is full of bugs.

My question is, do you think or are you sure that the problem is software?
if it is software we all would like to know how to fix it, because in my experience testing with android 9, android 10 With miui.eu and miui global with both I had the same problem until I apply heat to the SoC and a heating pad, since then I have not had not a single reboot or problem with WiFi or SIM card
not sure, your problem could be different one
sharing my experience...
- I have a 2 years old Mi 8 (was 64GB),
- for a few monthes - got a lot of calls disconnected because of no reception.
- one day all of a sudden - lost all reception ("no sim" icon), no wifi networks show, device lagging and rebooting every few minutes.
- I have 2 years warranty here, and it was the last week of warranty - so i went to the official repair place.
- after a few hours - they called me to say that the Motherboard was defective - and they're replacing it (for free of course).
(BTW, they didn't have 64GB motherboard - so they gave me 128GB motherboard)
- since then - signal okay, device okay, wifi okay.
- losing signal a lot - but maybe it's because of my work (a lot of driving every day, server rooms underground or with concrete walls, and so on...)
- even though my work is as described - i don't remember having reception issues when the phone was new (maybe changes in the carrier? cannot know...)
sorry for you that it might be hardware - that's what solved it for me.
Good luck.
p.s. - planned obsolescence?

I totally agree with you sir, it is a hardware problem, I do not know if it is programmed obsolescence, but what I am clear about is that I am tired of buying equipment with the same problems in the soldering of the SoC, the same thing happened to me with the LG G3, LG G4, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P
I have the same problem and i don't know that to do
how to fix that?

The most advisable thing would be that you take it to a technical service so that they do a "rework" to the SoC "CPU" since that is where the baseband is located

So no need to change IC baseband? i was told the technical service about what you said on this thread. but the technician said it won't work if only clear the SoC and change the Thermal pad.
how your mi 8 now? i mean after you did what you said, like change thermal pad, it still works good?

It has been a long time since I changed equipment, it lasted about 6 months with the heating pad, but the most recommended thing if you still want to keep the Mi8 is to send it to have the "rework" done.

"rework" is the process of desoldering, cleaning old tin and placing new once done, re-solder the SoC if you want a clearer idea in yotutube look for Snapdragon 845 cpu reball

Hello everyone,
I am having this issue but with my Zenfone 6 (2019) from Asus, it loses connection with wifi and sim also system crashes forcing shutdown. I've seen similar posts about Xiaomi's devices, but I'm still confused about the issue. So the problem is related to a hardware issue right? Is the Xiaomi's issue could be related to mine?

Question Main Camera fogging

Hi,
I recently bought a new redmi note 10 pro. It hasn't even been a month of using it.
I was on video call and suddenly the main (back) camera started fogging up after some time during the call (I was using the back camera for this video call and not the front camera). The weather here is very humid currently. Could this be a reason? Although the camera on my old phone never fogged up, or maybe I never noticed it fogging up.
I have never dropped my RN 10 pro or damaged it in anyway. Just concerned if I should do something about it or is this normal in a strongly humid weather.
Any opinion or suggestion in this regard is welcome.
Thank you!
Have you tried booting in safe mode?
I had the same problem and it was hardware related since my phone fell in water once.

It is not software related. The fogging is on the inside of camera glass. I could see it.
It's probably air getting inside thorough certain hole. I don't really know what else could it be.
where do you live? Just bring it to Xiaomi Official service centre, in my country they will fix it for free
