T813 Tab S2 - Back to Stock - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I want to give my S2 away as a present to a family member. So I downloaded the latest version (T813XXS2BRF2_T813XAR2BRF2_XAR) and flashed it with Odin. Everything got an OK and PASS, but when I start it up it gets to the Samsung logo and that's it.
Any ideas?
Thanks
MJH

Hi,
I recommand you to install last TWRP recovery 3.3.0-0 and follow "How to return to full stock" in my thread : Thread
If you never used Samsung Find My Mobile you are fine (If you used it need to remove all settings in it). Hope it will help.
Cheers.

I'll give it a try. Thanks!
Edit: Your TWRP 3.3.0 link doesn't show a T813 version. What version do you want me to use?

I had a similar issue after you flash the stock ROM and it hangs, turn it off and boot back into recovery, most likely it will be stock. From there do a wipe/reset and reboot & let it sit for a while, hopefully, it will bring up the startup screen.

I just get a blue screen with Error on it, like there is nothing installed.
I just try to reflash or reflash TWRP and install a costume ROM again.

everything went fine in Odin, no error messages, but my phone is stuck on the initial loading screen (that one with the samsung logo) and it's not loading properly.. I tried to wait like 10 minutes, but nothing changed..
How can I restore everything as it was before? Or flash properly a new rom??
Please help, I'm afraid I broke it..
Thank you in advance for any advice

Hello!
Can you get into download or recovery mode?
If you can go to recovery try wipe cache and if it doesnt work try wipe data but remember it deletes all apps!!

Don't worry, it is just a digestion problem (bootloop). CF-root doesn't work with every firmware. If yours wasn't compatible, bootloop is normal reaction. Check my last thread and there you can find step-by-by step guide how to unbrick it.

Great, mate- I'm glad it works again
CF-Root is made AMAIK for Gingerbread ROMs only, and if you have Froyo it is enough to flash SpeedMod root kernel that already features CWM recovery, Busybox and SU. You should always ready very carefully the first posts of the files you flash, so you will void many potential problems.
If you did it after my unbrick guide thread, backup your IMEI No as soon as you root your phone (described how to)
Just click "thanks" button beyond posts which were useful for you, it is our way to express it on this forum (and many us here are visiting the forum to help each other)

[Q] S3 I9305 won't boot in custom recovery

Hi Guys,
I have s3 GT-I9305, android version 4.1.2, baseband version I9305XXBLL5. Australian model for Optus.
I successfully rooted and installed Philz_Touch_6.19.3 _ After that I could do Nandroid online backup and confirm it is rooted.
When I tried to flash custom ROM today - I found I can't boot in CWM/Philz recovery mode. Then I tried to different version of Philz/CWM and TWRP but none worked. It keeps booting in stock recovery mode- I get message as shown in attached image.
PS: I have USB diagnosis checked but haven't unlocked boot loader?
to be specific: my phone works fine - boots fine - It is just I want to load custom rom and it won't go to custom recovery and I can't load custom ROM.
Thanks.
HELP!
can anyone please help me out here!
I kept searching and found some solution but none worked.
I used triangle away. - didn't work
Installed custom recovery without checking auto reset and started after pulling battery out. - didn't work
It still boot in odin mode and I can't go to custom recovery
i have the same problem too when i got my phone flashed 3rd recovery last year,
the stock recovery can automaticly restore itself after reboot~
but i found the solution here in xda, just flash a zip to unlock the self-protection of the stock recovery~
i will tell you the link and the attachment several hours later after my work,if you cannt wait, you can search it here, maybe you can find it yourself.

even after you flash a custom recovery...your phone will automatically flash stock recovery every time it reboots...so that's why you will get into stock even if you flash CWM/TWRP or what you like.....

try to flash the "Remove-boot-recovery.p.zip",it will work..

Done
Thanks guys.
Above solution didn't work for me but I got it working through rom manager App. I reboot to recovery through ROM Manager and it worked.
How ever After I installed Pacman rom, I couldn't use App as there were no Gapps and wouldn't boot to recovery. The workaround here was to press home, volume up and lock button simultaneously and release it after few second and it will go to custom recovery.
In the end, I am on Pacman Nightly 06/04/2014 with Philz touch recovery.

Have I Bricked my Phone?

I am only just new and have been playing around with this custom rom stuff for a short while now, I have ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.4.7 on my I9305T. I have tried a few different Roms so far but they don't work. I tried just today "RevolutionaryS5-V3" it obviously went through the installation process but did not boot into it, just came up with the samsung default ( samsung S III GT- I9305T ) logo in white. It disappeared then came back looping that way.
So now I have went into the "Advanced Menu" and then "show log" I don't know if this will help you but, it displayed this:-

Something went wrong while flashing rom or maybe the rom data is corrupt.
Bootloop means your device fails to boot if system data is corrupt by flashing rom
You had soft brick.
Reboot into recovery and restore the stock rom if you had nandroid backup.

Hey Piyush,
Initially I did try do a Backup using Titanium Backup app, first try I think there wasn't enough room on the internal HDD, so I tried on the external HDD which I thought had done so.. So when I came to this problem, the backup did not work.
Now at first before I rooted the phone. It was done by odin v1.85 and of course it did root. So I know it has superSU, but I can't get onto a stock rom for this phone because of my **** sat internet bandwidth and also a good site to download from. I tried the samsung-update site, but the 2 links don't allow me to finish the download. Do you know of any links that i can download the stock rom for my i9305T my phone was running android v4.3. The link I just stated was for v4.3.
Can you give me some advise on how or what I should do?

Wayne

I'm not sure if you can downgrade from 4.3 to 4.2 or earlier. If the phone was running 4.3 then I'd install 4.3 or 4.4 to get stock recovery back. Then you can install a custom recovery. No need to root your phone for that.
Do you know a link that will take me to a compatible file for my GT-i9305T, I'm just not sure what to look out for. Also would you be able to give me a quick rundown/instructions on how to do this. Will I need odin, and which version will I need. Currently I have v1.85, that's what I used to start off. I really don't wanna brick this phone.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ck-rom-4-4-4-gt-i9305n-i9305nxxufni4-t2886807
there you'll find the Kitkat DBT for i9305. Will work with your phone as well. In the OP you'll find instruction on how to install this version via odin. Odin is included in the zip.
After that you put your phone into download mode again and flash the preferred recovery via odin. But don't use TWRP 2.8.7.0 from their site. That build is broken and is getting fixed atm. Either use TWRP 2.8.5.0 or latest Philz Touch. If you decide to flash a custom ROM again, make sure you're in the right forum, e.g. i9305
Thanks heaps for your help so far maultasche, I will let you know how I go with this.

From backup I actually meant if you had cwm and you did a nandroid backup of the stock rom from the recovery itself.
If you are getting bootloop you can easily fix it by restoring the backup.
Search on the net about recovery from soft brick and bootloops.
Nandroid backups can atleast get your device in running condition.
If you have custom recovery backup your rom first then you can flash any desired rom.
One more thing if you had flashed custom rom do not factory reset your device, this may result in soft brick.
Hope that helps!
Is your device booting now??

Yes, I successfully got the phone to boot up and run. I used the I9305XXUFNI3_I9305DBTFNI3_I9305XXUFNI3_HOME.tar file using the odin v3.09 and now it has asked the country and so on..
It was a bit daunting thinking if it was going to brick or fix the phone...
Thanks for your help, time and kindness for the files you gave me.

You're welcome, glad it did help.
Yes, you need odin to flash the recovery again. No need to root your phone just to install the recovery, as mentioned. Then you can flash whatever ROM you'd like. One thing - although CM 11 still gets nightlies from time to time there is no maintainer left. He switched devices. If you encounter any issues which might be device related they probably won't get fixed.
Is sending pics on pc still an issue? Sorry, I wasn't online and I forgot to check the thread :/
HI Maultasche, so I have been looking at the" Resurrection-Remix-LP-v5.5.6" rom and have been downloading the files for it, but i am not sure what the "changelog" file is for or what it does. The page - forum . xda-developers.com / galaxy-s3 / development-i9305 / rom-resurrection-remix-4-4-2-kitkat-v5-t2704828 . It tells me I need these Installation Files:- ROM , Gapps & Changelog. Do you know if i can install this Rom using
CWM v6.0.4.7?
Oh, and about the send pic question, I wanted to send you a pic of the odin mode screen from my phone, but the only thing I could see was the "insert image" button. But it wanted me to enter a URL for the picture. Whats the go there?

The change log file only shows what has been fixed and what has changed to previous builds. Nothing you need for the ROM
You only need the ROM, gapps and the recovery. Use the recovery rodman has mentioned in his post.

Need to install a ROM without a PC
Hi maultasche, Can you help me with this, I have my wife's phone which is a S3 i9305 as well. The USB connection on the phone has been damaged and so the cable can't be connected. I was wondering if I could still install the ROM without the use of a PC. Can you tell me the best software I could do this with? Also I am not sure the best way to back up the phone, not wanting to root it.
Regards,
Wayne
hi,
what ROM youre talking about? Official firmware? If you have a flashable zip yo could do that with flashfire, flashify, rashr etc. Or via custom recovery. For a custom recovery is no root needed.
As for backups depending on what you want to backup (whole system including data etc. or just apps with apps data). Without root your backup options are kind of limited. You can backup apps and app data via helium but not every app can be backed up using this tool. You could do a back up via adb but not sure how complete such a backup will be. I never did that. Or a backup with a custom recovery again. Might be the easiest way.

Install Android 6 without root?

As the tittle says. Can I install Android 6 in my s5 mini without rooting? Or unrooting later. I have G800H model. Can I do it with odin? If someone can write the steps for me or paste some tutorial I'll be very grateful!

If you Flash TWRP recovery trough Odin, like it is mentioned in another thread all about flashing, you can install CM13 (which is basically Android 6). You don't have to install SuperSU.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...install-twrp-custom-roms-g800f-t3439853/page1
This explains just how you do it, of course you have to flash files specific for G800H and not for G800F if you have the Snapdragon version.

Thanks for answering. I think I screwed up a little. Installed twrp and rooted then I tried to install CM but it failed. I read that the reason is I got an old version of TWRP. So I wiped all but I still have TWRP and rooted. How can I wipe everything? And start as you indicated me? And where can I find a TWRP updated version because I can't find a compatible with S5 mini in the official website.
So many thanks in advance!

Just go to Androidfilehost.com and search for hennymcc than go into his CM13 directory for S5 Mini and download the TWRP there. You can flash it via Odin. Then you don't have to root. Just install CM13 from the same directory. No need to root at all. If you want to, just flash SuperSU which you can find on Google.
If you want to wipe, you can do that in TWRP under the option wipe -> advanced wipe -> and mark data, cache, dalvik cache and system.
Thanks again! I downloaded the recovery you told me. There's just a part that I don't get well:

I'd like to delete everything and put it all again from zero.
Thank you in advance!

Go to advanced tab on Odin and activate Nand erase all. I don't know if that will help, but activate that and than flash Stock again. That will erase everything.

If you Flash TWRP recovery trough Odin, like it is mentioned in another thread all about flashing, you can install CM13 (which is basically Android 6). You don't have to install SuperSU.

This explains just how you do it, of course you have to flash files specific for G800H and not for G800F if you have the Snapdragon version.

And first when I tried to go to recovery went to odin mode. And then I restarted my phone and tried again but this time I got the old recovery. So evidently I'm having a problem with TWRP. Whan can I do?

Aaaaaaah you are on Stock right? If you are on Stock:
Flash the TWRP I told you via Odin and right after the flash finished press the buttons to enter recovery. DONT LET IT REBOOT! if it reboots, you have to try again. You have to go into TWRP right after flashing, because otherwise TouchWiz restores the stock recovery. It only does that on the first reboot. Once you were in TWRP, it stays.

I totally did it that way! because that's what the tutorial says. And eventhough it failed. So I don't know what's the problem
Maybe I need root after all and that's why it don't work. I tried a couple of times more and still had the problem

Did you flash stock in between so everything gets erased? With activated NaND erase button? Under the advanced tab in Odin?

Yeah. Did everything. Is TWRP indispensable to have for installing rom? Is there any other recovery?

There are other recoverys but TWRP works fine and is the best recovery in my opinion. And no, you can flash any zipaligned ROM with the recovery.

Stuck at reboot after flashed the new version of twrp

I have flashed the 3.2.1.0 version of twrp recovery but it stucks at reboot when i reboot the system well i don't know what to do if i flash the old versin 3.1.1.0 is it would be problem. Now i am on stock rom and recovery. Open for suggestions.
It may be a kernel problem. I had the same thing happen on stock. I fixed it by downloading a ROM then installing TWRP. After install go right into recovery after you disconnect from Odin and clean flash the new ROM. No problems after that.
Any errors on screen as it boots?

I used the latest TWRP and immediately flashed the Teleteam s8n8 ROM after installing TWRP. You can find the ROM on here with a quick search.
