Not sure if this is the correct area but I have a few questions:
How well does the tablet preform?
How do you guys find it?
Is it good for gaming?
How's the battery life of the device?
Is it worth the amount of money people are selling it at?
What do you recommend the 8 GB or 16 GB
Might have a few more but that's all for now, hope you guys can help me out!
Thanks.
1. Fantastically, I haven't noticed any lag, no unresponsiveness at all
2. It's a great device and is built sturdily, the only problem I have with it is that the keyboard is just little too wide to type while holding it, it's possible but mistakes are common
3. Excellent, I've been playing Shadowgun, Need For Speed, Angry Birds, Cogs and World of Goo on it and it's been performing really well, no lag at all and the screen size is just right, and it even keeps the games in memory after opening lots of other apps and it responds really well.
4. Great, got about 7 hours out of it while gaming solidly with screen on auto brightness, when on apps other than games it lasts about 8 hours and a half
5. Yes, considering it does everything rather well, I thought reading would be difficult but it's not
6. If you download a lot of the "bigger" games from the Play Store, then go for the 16GB, if not, everything is cloud based so just go for the 8GB, unless you want to store stuff for offline use

Thank you so much for your informative feed back, could I install a 32 GB MicroSD card? If so that would be cheaper, since it's quiet a lot for a 16 GB Version and its only double the capacity!
Sorry for double comments, but does the launcher do landscape? I saw somewhere it don't do that, or maybe there's a setting for that?

There are two hacks to get this fixed. One is build. prop edit. the other i think is a framework xml edit (dont quite me on the second) Its a assumption but im sure its framework related. I do not have my tablet yet :crying:
This will most likely require you to Root your tablet.
Awe why don't they just add a setting like most launchers ;(

Had no plan of rooting the device cause didn't see the need to lol guess I would need to for this, do you think the edits will be easy to do? X
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk 2
I'm sure you know it does landscape except when on the launcher screens, but mine didn't have "auto rotation " enabled out of the box. If anyone isn't getting landscape when browsing the web, etc., check your settings.
BTW, I just use Apex Launcher and now have landscape on the homescreen too.

I would use Apex. It's free and not only does it auto rotate the home screen, you can configure your launcher to exactly how you want it.

Yeh might end up using that or zeam launcher if that's how you spell it lol

There's no MicroSD card slot on the Nexus 7.
Gah!!! Really? Darn it ;(

The mobile network unlock is called SIM unlocking, which allows you to switch to other networks. Bootloader unlocking, the most commonly talked about here on XDA, means modifying your device to allow custom versions of Android.
Probably means the second one then, so that's equivalent to rooted? or not?
Another thing is, the USB port on the device, can that be used for any keyboard? maybe also a usb hub, so i can connect a mouse to it also?
Bump

Keyboard/mouse: yes. USB host capability (for expanding the storage of the device via flash drive): only when rooted so far. An update might fix it if enough people complain, but for now, you have to root it and get stickmount (or a similar app).
And shouldn't this thread really be in Q and A?

How do I change home screen page in Atrix HD (4.0.4), so its not the first one, but the middle or 3rd .
I found a way to do it for other phones, but it had to be rooted... any way to do it without rooting?
Touch home. Press and hold screen you want to move. Move it where you'd like it.

I think what Ranfot is asking is how to change the default home screen from 1st position to 3rd so his phone wakes up to the 3rd position all the time. Other then loading a different launcher I couldn't find a way on stock. Maybe someone else has figured it out.

I too have not found a way to do this. Kinda silly if you ask me. It'd be so easy to do, and it seems every phone has the ability to do it EXCEPT the AHD. lol, good job Motorola.

Not possible, because of the quick toggles screen feature.
It's designed that way

Look at these official photos from cnet..... Pay particular attention to photos 2 and 15.... Although there are 5-icons in the dock at the bottom, the rest of the screen only has 4 app icons across each row.... Makes me glad I didn't wait to get the Note 2: http://m.cnet.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-ii-debuts-photos/10013559

That's launcher dependent only. Download another launcher and you'll be able to have 5 rows of icons again. But yeah, it's stupid they went back to the default 4 rows on the Note 2. Guess that's the price to pay for a True HD display...

Yea im not a fan of only 4 icon rows but like android rev said just run another launcher i will stick with nova prime

Yah but the extra RAM and better processor will make you want to get the note. And if the note 2 is as sexy as the S3...youre definitely gonna wish you waited for the Note 2.
And btw, you can always root and install a tweaked version of the launcher.

... Your complaing about rows of icons? Thats like complaining about a new car saying you dont like the song the radio is playing... Change it... your on xda man. Most people here tend to switch roms and kernals, changing a launcher or even less (a launcher setting) is a non issue

Lord.... I wasn't complaining about the Note 2..... I was merely pointing out the screen is probably too narrow to natively support 5-icon rows..... I totally understand we are of course, free to install various ROMs on our devices... Heck, I had an old HD2 that I tried out more ROMs on than I can remember.... But as my daily driver phone..... I really prefer not to void it's factory warranty

Settings ; Launcher Settings ; Screen preferences (different title depending on which launcher) ; Number of rows.
No warranty voiding required at least 5 free top launchers have this option in the play store. I cant wait for this phone in the us
From my X2 roaming the north
Although I have tried out several 3rd party launchers in the past, I've always found they slow down things a bit (unless you can natively disable the original launcher without rooting the device)... Otherwise you're running a launcher on top of another launcher
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda premium
I guess i just root and take care of all those issues, but then again with 2gb of ram im betting you could handle 2 launchers if you for some reason dont just replace the old one.

Just in case anyone's interested, I've got a Note 2 and I've just installed Nova Launcher.
its perfectly fine with five columns of icons.
dunno what possessed Samsung releasing their launcher with only four

Why not just use the sexy cm style? A second shade seems silly. At least after tons of different OS revisions they finally get the picture that quick toggles are useful.
I guess it isn't so much different from MIUI except you swipe down vs left/right.

Its so early in development that its bound to change lol
Yup I personally think we just keep on getting better features so this won't be a fail

I have a funny feeling that the second shade will pull down on the other side of the regular one in landscape mode.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
More then likely lol. Idk if I use it though? I mean we have toggles on the first shade
Might be a better way to handle menus. In-app action bars are ok, but is there a standard method to have;
Notifications
QuickSetting
In-app menu items
all 'dragged' into view perhaps? Don't know, but having a drag down /something/ that can be extended with what we need now, and what'll be coming up soon would make sense.
Of course the best thing would be to have it configurable. Standard as is, with quicksettings (for Samsung/Asus), with menu on top/with menu button on bottom, with... something else an app installs to add other functionality as an option.
This type of thing shouldn't locked down but extensible for manufacturers/rom makers to get into.
Any idea if the Nexus 7 will be getting the update?

Of course it will. Nexus 7 is still the primary tablet for Google and will possibly remain one even once Nexus 10 is released, since 7" tablets are outselling 10" ones in a lot of markets.
We've already got a thread discussing 4.2 here

Hi guys! Okay, I need some help. I just upgraded to the Note 5 from the Note 4. While I like the phone overall, I'm absolutely missing the Smart Select S Pen feature from the Note 4 (which, objectively, is the better phone). Could anyone please, please, please....please post the apk for the Smart Select feature? I'm going to try to put it on my Note 5.
I found an app that actually works better than the Note 5 rendition of Smart Select (http://apkpure.com/smart-select-ocr/com.bin.smartselect) but it's just not the same. Thanks for the help!
I don't see a app with that name. Are you sure that's not a feature in the S-pen app?

Actually, you're 100% right. It's not a standalone app so to speak. It's, more than likely, an system apk mixed with a few other settings and system dependencies, mixed with a few thinks I'm not familiar with :silly: . In order to get the Note 4's Smart Select functionality on a Note 5 I'll probably have to reach out to one of my smart developer friends.
Thanks for responding!
