Relocking bootloader - will phone be wiped? - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello dear friends.
I'd love to go back to to stock. I unrooted my phone and flashed the stock recovery.
Now I'd love to relock the bootloader. Will that procedure wipe the content on my phone? If so, is there any way to avoid the wipe?
Thanks.
Regards,
m00h

Backup Your P20pro, using HiSuite on a PC then restore after relocking bootloader - won’t be 100% perfect but almost all apps data and settings will be recovered

Never used anything for backup outside of TitaniumBackup, but will give this rootless solution a try, thanks.
I have so many things set up, it would take weeks to get everything back in place.

The steps are not that much complex. The Backup might be corrupted. So just do a dry run using the Backup file. A Dry run is like actual restore but it wont do restore at the last step. So you can check the file integrity using this. Also how do you make sure BE is not working?? Can You use track ID ??

Okay then your best options are to Flash Original Firmware again and hope that its cleared this time. Be sure to Clean Install this time.

Have you looked in the service mode?
Type *#*#7378423#*#* in the dailer.
Select service tests, security, all keys in there should state ok.

Wipe/Restore Z3c to Stock

Hi there,
I asked this question before, but last time I got some confusing answers with regards to needing root.
The problem: My phone is slowing down and I want to wipe it completely (no system/app data left over) and restore it to factory defaults, preferably running 5.1.1.
What's the best/easiest way to do this? Will flashing the new firmware clear everything the way I want? I don't want to root, unlock the bootloader or lose the DRM keys, just a standard wipe.
On a firmware note, does anyone know where I can get Bell Canada 5.1.1 firmware?
Thanks a lot!
Foaric
Download FlashTool and there is XperiFirm to download the firmware you need
Just flash it, and you start from stock
I think just a standard factory reset should do this.

Great! So flashing will clear all the system/user data while leaving the DRM data intact? I'm looking to do it so that there's nothing left over to slow down the phone.
Thanks,
Foaric

[help] how to restore back to stock?

hello i have a xperia z3c 5803 and I want to restore it back to stock. i have backed up the drm keys (ta.img) from before, currently running custom rom slimlp and its an unlocked bootloader. What do i have to do first and how?
If you want to do a complete wipe and clean install it back to stock, use the Sony PC Companion software. There is an option to perform a clean reinstall somewhere. I know there is the option because I've done it but can't remember right now where it is.

Sorry, no clue. I am quite a noob when it comes to this stuff.
Hopefully someone else can help you out.

Is it possible to unlock bootloader without loosing data?

So I wanted to root my phone, and i figured out that it is impossible to root my phone without unlocking the bootloader, but I don't really want to loose my data, so I want to know if it is possible to do it without loosing any data?
nope
You cannot. Once you unlock the bootloader, it will reset everything. Have a backup through hi suites, or inbuilt backup app on usb/sd card etc.
Copy the images, WhatsApp images, picture folder, hwthemes folder manually if downloaded themese, WhatsApp images are important. DCIM full folder is your camera+fb images. And hisuites backup your app+data so no worries. It backup your contacts as well. Use sms and call log backup app to backup sms and call logs.
However story ia different when you are rooted. You can just use titanium backup for complete backup.
No way man.

That was just a light comment and nobody gonna do that..that was related with the fact DC unlocker provides the codes but Huawei fails. dont take it much seriously.

There is an Android Development and Hacking section, so it's not completely prohibited. Hacking to get paid stuff is the one not allowed here.

Have you unlocked?
I'm currently installing Android SDK right now.
Now I am ready to unlock the bootloader, but is there any way to revert to factory settings if something goes wrong? Like a original ROM or Firmware download?

So I am ready to unlock the bootloader, but wanted to know, is there any way to revert to the original system after doing this, or after installing twrp?

After unlocking bootloader, install twrp. Have full backup backup backup...then do whatever you wish to.
Ok. I have viewed a guide on how to root the phone, and it said that there is no download for the original update.app file for Huawei eRecovery. Also is there any way to backup to computer using twrp, because im not sure i will be able to store the backup file on my local storage.

extract update.app from firmware, when you got twrp installed all your data is gone already. just follow guide and you'll be fine.
But how do I extract the update.app?

Just save the firmware zip to pc, sd card simple. You may need it when messed up..
For twrp, refer the guide properly and files in my signature for honor 5C repository.
Ok, I'll do that after I get home

Problem with Demo mode!`Sony Xperia XZ1 HELP!

Hi, I'm living in Costa Rica, I have a friend that was coming from Germany and he offered to bring something from there (phones are expensive here). My previous Z1 compact was almost dead (almost half screen without touch) so I bought a second hand XZ1 (I'm not a big fan of big screen phones) thru ebay kleinanzeigen. The phone got to my friend, he tried it and everything worked fine. When he brought it to me, I realized there was a demo mode activated on the phone. Tried deactivating it from system ('lock screen and security' tab is locked), *#*#sellmore#*#* ('Device is for store use only, Retail mode cannot be activated') and firmware reinstall thru sony companion but no luck. My friend it's going to be traveling back in over 6 months to Germany :crying: . Is there a way to remove this demo mode since returning it it's not an option? Thanks for your time!

Use the flashtool or newflasher to flash a different rom, if it's demo FW Sony companion will just keep reflashing it.

Thanks again for your response! And sorry to break you ba**s again. I've dowloaded the last firmware from Xperfirm (47.2.A.11.228). I had Android 8 and this is 9. Is it worthy to upgrade? or I might encounter problems later on if I want for example to root or unlock boot loader? (I don't care much for customization I just use Titanium Backup for freezing or deleting bloatware)
And last question: I been reading about getting the persist file backed up and I just found this thread for motorola G5 would this still work? If not, would you mind guiding me in the right direction?
Thank you very much for your time again!

I'm sticking with Oreo because I don't like Pie, so that's down to your personal preference. You can find Oreo FW ending .20 in threads knocking about here. As for the persist.sin, you simply don't flash it, I think in the flashtool you can exclude it but if you use Newflasher you just delete it from the folder before flashing.
Give THIS thread a read.

Ok I have the fw and deleted the persist file (persist_X-FLASH-ALL-C93B.sin, is this the right one?). Now just flash with newflasher? I do not have to backup TA partition (drm keys) or anything else?. Sorry for so many questions, I do not have a lot of experience on this and I do not want to mess it up.

You only need to backup your TA if you're going to unlock the bootloader, if you're just flashing FW it doesn't matter.
