Hey,
I bought a Nokia 7 Plus TA-1062 from China. After it arrived I installed the global android version using the instructions provider here. I then side loaded a 8.1.0 version with Security path from 1st of August. The phone is functioning fine in terms of ability to browse web/take calls/use camera/etc. - HOWEVER - during any of these updates I wasn't able to use any of Google's services (Play Store/Cloud login/Updates). It's just stuck on 'Checking info...' and sometimes notifies it wasn't able to connect.
When I look at the Google Play Services logs (using the *#*#426#*#* code) I see that the connection is failing constantly. I've tried reseting the cache/data of all related apps and the phone itself without help.
Anyone knows how to solve this? Why are the Google Play Services not working?

I am also the Chinese version of Nokia 7plus, also found this problem, the message can not be pushed!
flashing gapps would solve the problem if you have a recovery installed, but since we cannot unlock our bootloader, you're ****ed

Thanks for replying - I'm new to all this and would like to learn more -
1. What does it mean to have "recovery installed"? I'm able to enter the recovery console on boot via the power button+up volume key trick (that's how I sideloaded the 8.1 version), I'm guessing that's not it?
2. What does it mean to unlock the bootloader? how do you know if your bootloader is locked or not?
3. and probably most important - how do you flash gapps?? That's something that I'd like to try, maybe my phone is already unlocked by some sheer luck (doubt it since it came in a sealed box)

Hi. I have a nokia 7 plus TA-1046 build 00WW_2_22M
The problem is that i have this phone for last year and i am stuck at 8.1 August 1 Security update. I check regularly for updates but besides one security update nothing. I am from Romania dunno if that matters. On every forum i saw people on pie and i am stuck onto oreo. Is there any connection with my network provider or ota is from nokia. I got an android one for the fuss of being up to date. And i am behind so many other phones on updates. I did nothing on the phone downgrade upgrade kernel ROMs. Its clean. I also tries some variants that support from nokia gave me. Like remove sim and conect to wifi and try. Go into safe mode and try from there to. Clean catch from carrier service and remove sim and go and check. None work. Any ideas for a proper non warranty removed method to get an update?
Yes, just download the update and flash it yourself. It isn't very hard and the effect is the exact same as an OTA update so it doesn't void your warranty.
Better stay in oreo cause this latest pie
updates bricked my wifi and sd card
8i advice you to keep the phone with oreo.

Buna seara / hello,
I think you should manually update. Follow this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-7-plus/development/ota-nokia-7-plus-ota-links-t3818774/page99
I have a TA-1046 dual SIM, international version (yours is probably the same).
I was stuck first on Oreo 8.0 in April and I had to manually update to 8.1. After that I got OTAs without any problems until the Pie update.
In September I had to manually update to Pie, but since then I got every OTA.
Everything works fine, no issues with WIFI. I do not use an SD card. Pie is better than Oreo and you need the latest security patches.
Mult succes.
It's interesting that some people don't have any issues with last updates but quite a lot of people have the same issues i have, today i tested my friend's phone and has the same firmware like i do but yet no issues for him
Btw: before you upgrade, august is last version can be unlocked
I updated my moto x4 from Oreo to pie using flash using boot loader. my boot loader is still locked and software status is official too. It still is unable to update to January security update. Please help !!
yes I have also facing same issue... i have also try by safe mode but shows something not right .... reconnecting to server... might be Moto update Services try to connect moto server which has not able to connect due some issue in server... hope so this is issue...
you can connect to moto support team let me know what they are say for this issue.
They told to reset and try again.. to do that I got to backup my data which LL take time.. so on hold as of now
Yup, same here. I got the Android 1 Google Fi model (Bootloader unlocked, unrooted). I'll try again in a week and see if it resolves itself.
And another ~ bought 2, mine showed the update 3 days before my wife's but won't start (download and install now, via wifi only and it reverts back to the settings screen). She got the notification last night and it took first try. First time I've had this issue in the 4 months I've had the phone, just glad I'm not alone here....
Since you're official/fully stock, there's not really any alternatives besides factory reset or await for full image is available to manually flash via fastboot method. You do not need to unlock long as you stick with motorola firmwares. Links in FAQs thread.
Nothing new here? Mine keeps nagging me to do the update, start it and it shows getting to 17% on step 3 of 6, then just kicks me back out to the setting screen.
This is my first android phone (from a flip), couldn't get lineageos to work with my provider (RedPocket) and have neutered as much of the google crap as possible. Right on down to disabling all permissions for Play Store. Could that be part of my issue?
It has been nagging me since last few weeks, no solution apparently
New Update:
Could actually able to fix the issue by installing a vpn and set it as a USA based server.
My phone was bought in US and I was using it elsewhere. After using an USA based IP it downloaded the update and voila.
I just bought a brand new redmi note 10 pro 6gb 128gb and on the day of delivery the device keeps on rebooting. There was an update pending and updated to the latest miui version and the problem still persists. It was booting randomly before updating but after updating it just keeps on rebooting. Is there any fix to this or do I need to return this?
Maybe there was something wrong with the update, try factory reset from recovery, or if that doesnt help try flashing latest firmware via fastboot.
So I found a recent development in this. Apparently it only reboots when either the wifi or the mobile network is on.
So I have airplane mode turned off n I have removed the sim card as well and now the phone is not rebooting. But as soon as I click on wifi, it reboots.
I can't factory reset it because I activated Duo mobile in it n to reactivate I need to contact my company. It's a hassle
Has anyone had problems with your phone's hotspot after updating to Android 13 on ZenFone 8?
I also did a factory reset, but it didn't help.
The signal is very weak and even if you connect another device, this then can not navigate because it is internet not available.
Back to Android 12 the problem disappears.
Did you have the same problem and how did you solve it? Thank you.

I just updated to Android 13 on my Zenfone 8 today, and the hotspot settings just disappeared (at least if I navigate through the settings). If i search all settings, I can find them, but trying to turn it on does nothing.
I wonder if this is an Asus problem or an AT&T (my carrier) problem.

I did all the tests, even the hard reset, nothing to do. I also tried to change mobile operator sim. It's just a bug in Android 13.
I asked Asus support, but they didn't give any answer.
Downgraded to Android 12 and that's the only way it works.

Two questions...
1. How did you try to get help from Android support? I was thinking of trying their phone support.
2. How did you downgrade? Is there a way to do with without wiping my phone and without rooting? I found a few guides about it online and they all seemed to require wiping the phone.

Oh, and also it's now taking about 7 minutes to register on the at&t network (as opposed to instantly in Android 12). How could they possibly have let this release into the wild?

Write to Asus support, you can find it on the official page. If you have registered your product, put all the data related to model and serial, only then they will move to find a solution to this bug.
For downgrade, you will always find in the support page for your model the firmware to download. Once downloaded, enter it in the internal folder of the phone and you will see that the update notification appears above.
Click and install. Obviously you lose all the data, because it resets to the factory state.

Thanks for the info. It wasn't obvious to me about the phone resetting - for all i knew, Asus might have an intelligent downgrade process that preserved the user data. Too bad they don't.

I also had this issue of the hotspot function disappearing after the Android 13 update. I followed the step to downgrade to 12. This worked, but before I could finish setting up my phone again, it was already automatically updating to 13. I reinstalled 12, and waited to connect to wi-fi to get things restored. Shortly after connecting to wi-fi again, the 13 update started again. I paused the update and then enabled developer options and disabled automatic system updates there, but I am not able to disable auto-updates in the regular system update settings. Is root required to disable this menu option? I have not rooted my phone and would prefer not to, if possible. Any suggestions?
Edit: So far, the phone hasn't resumed the auto-update overnight or following a couple restarts of the phone. The notification remains and I occasionally get prompts to continue the paused update, but I am able to ignore them. I guess I can live with it as is, but if anybody has any other ideas, please share. Thanks.
Edit: Today, I woke to find that the 13 update has downloaded and will install on reboot. I rebooted and let it complete the update to 13. Then, I downgraded to 12 once again. This time around, the option to disallow automatic updates was not greyed-out in system update settings. I disallowed auto-updates. The notification saying the update to 13 is available remained, this time, I was able to dismiss it. I don't know what to think about the previous issues I had, but it seems to have resolved it now.

I didn't see the Andorid 13 update even before the downgrade, I searched for it and installed it if I wanted it.
Adding to my posts above from February 18:
I was able to remain on Android 12, retaining the Wi-Fi hotspot functionality, until this morning. I awoke to find a software update notification message, giving two options: update or later. The message also stated that if I pressed later, it would continue with the update in 30 minutes. I rebooted the phone, and the update notification returned, however, lacking the 30 minute warning. A short while later, the phone began to automatically download the update, despite the option in settings disallowing auto-updates being ticked. I force-stopped the system update app, and it stopped downloading the new update. After a short while, it completed the android 13 system update download anyway. I decided to give the 13 update a try again, seeing that there was a smaller update added to the Asus Bios and Firmware download page on March 16th. I proactively backed up my data, knowing that I would likely need to downgrade to 12 again shortly to regain hotspot functionality. I rebooted to apply the base 13 update; no hotspot functionality, as expected. I then downloaded and applied the March 16th (WW-33.0210.0210.269) update OTA; still no hotspot functionality. I plan to downgrade again to Android 12, but I question how long I will be able to use it before another automatic update to 13 is forced upon me by Asus. Does anyone have any advice as to how to activate the hotspot on 13 or a way to guarantee that 12 will not be auto-updated to 13?
Edit: For anyone who might be having the same issue, here is what I have tried and so far, seems to be working. After downgrading to 12, I did not connect to internet during the initial phone setup process. When I did, the phone would already start automatically downloading the 13 update even before the setup process was finished. After setup, I immediately disabled automatic updates both in the regular system settings and in developer options (after enabling these, of course). I find it interesting that before, even with these two settings to disallow automatic updates in use, the automatic update would begin. The only other step I took this time was to disable my system app for system updates per the following method. https://www.xda-developers.com/disable-system-app-bloatware-android/
I understand that this method is likely used more for added bloatware than for system apps, and I questioned at first if it would even work for a system app. Still, after disabling the system update app, it shows "disabled" under its entry in the complete app list in settings, and the system update options in the settings menu are not visible anymore. The main "system" header in the settings menu does show a red dot with "1" indicating that there is something available within the submenu, but as stated there is nothing within pertaining to system updates since disabling the system update app. So far, there have been no other notifications for the 13 update as before. This system update app is easy to reenable, as shown in the link above, so if I want to download the system update later on, it is no problem. I will add to this post if this method fails, but so far, so good.
