Hey folks,
I got an unlocked GS10 (SM-G937U1) straight from Samsung recently and set it up per usual (coming from a Samsung-unlocked GS9). My apps were automatically re-installed by Play Store, I took the latest Samsung update and rebooted. When it came back up, I noticed a little cross icon next to the camera hole punch (see attached). I cannot for the life of me figure out what this is. It wasn't present on the GS9 and I verified that I didn't install any new app that wasn't also installed on the GS9. As a matter of fact, I haven't wiped the GS9 yet and compared the app list on Play Store. Same exact set up of apps, no cross icon on the GS9. I did a few searches on Google and on this Q&A forum but couldn't find anything, so hopefully someone here knows.
And no, I don't have anything remotely related to Christianity or any other religion on my phone.
Your Bixby is Christian... #CrossGate
It's a sign from god to upgrade to s10 plus
probably related to whatever the KYM thing is
Hey, I got a few chuckles out of these replies. Thanks!
Tim got it right though. It's on the wallpaper itself (this).

Odd.. I notice these having updates, but they don't get listed in with the available updates in the "My apps" section in Google Play.
If you go to the apps individually in Google Play though, it shows an "update" button (clicking the other apps by this developer link is helpful in finding the others BTW).
This sounds familiar for some system apps, but not others (many Google apps auto-updated when I first activated the phone, even before I could get to the UI to turn off auto-updating). Anyone found a way to actually find -all- apps that have updates?

Click to collapse
Oh man I hate the autoupdating, I always turn that off, I like to be in control of that. I don't know why that setting doesnt save when you get a new phone or wipe your device.
The updates may be rolling out in phases. I recipes those updates yesterday afternoon while I was setting g the phone up for the first time.
Restart your phone and you'll get them
Hello All,
Apologies if this has been addressed already. I did try to search for the issue and have found various articles outside of XDA, but none internally. Yesterday, or perhaps the day before, I noticed I was unable to update any of my apps via the Google Play Store.
I tried the basic troubleshooting steps.
Reset mobile data.
Did a clear cache and data on the Play Store app, as well as Google Play Services (this also kicked me back to an older version of play, when I go to settings and click build, it says it will install a new version of Play, i.e. the one I had prior to a Data clear, but I never get it).
Removed and re-added my google account on my phone.
Stopped short of doing a factory reset, as I am not too keen on doing so just yet.
Called Google Support (or rather, used their callback feature built into the play store app), and they were absolutely clueless. The guy literally said, there is no solution to this problem and hung up on me, sounded like the gentlemen may have been from Africa, or the call center in Africa. Whatever the case, it was clear he had absolutely no technical knowledge or ability other than reading 3 lines from a script.
In any event, has anyone else been experiencing this issue, and is there a solution and/or any insight or updates regarding this?
Thanks in advance.
Do you get any errors from Play Store while trying to update apps?
No errors, whatsoever. Just stuck on downloading. Tried it over WI-FI and it still didn't work. Then went tried a different Wi-Fi and was able to download apps and update apps again, but I still can't download or update anything over my mobile network.
At one point, I got a timeout message coded (925). Searched around for that, and none of the fixes worked (I had already tried tjose fixes anyway).
MODERATOR, please move this to the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 forum. Apologies. I was at work when posting this, and didn't check which forum I was in when posting. This should be addressed in the T-Mobile Note 5 forum. Thanks!!
Clear data and cache of Play Store app, then connect to VPN (change your IP address to another country), and run Play Store, see if it works or not.
Ok TAEL, I will try this and get back to you.
Found the culprit. Apparently, on the Note 5, there are fine grained settings for restricting background data for certain apps and processes. I had restricted background data for "Media", and this was the issue. Thank you for your help!
You silly guy, you.
Hey every been a while since i posted. Recently my play store auto updated itself. I had thought i properly blocked this but I must have inadvertently changed a setting while switching accounts. I had a modded apk but cant find it. Im back to stock but rooted kitkat. The thing is I started noticing im getting these annoying messages about wannam being a harmfull ap. I am suspecting I updated google services? No clue
Please I am not looking for a "cracked" playstore apk, ive got a dozen or so paid for apps I want to keep just want to go back to my old play store version and not have ps auto update. Ive already done the obvious: unistall, go back to factory, block updater via Tb, etc etc. Any one have a modded apk they could share? Please no cracked free app mods. I am 100% against this kind of stuff, its actually stealing. Any help would be great. Thx! Tmo Galaxy n4 rooted and running on att android 4.3.
Figured it out. So far so good. What ever happened to google being the "dev friendly" "open source" system? Android is turning more and more into ios. Damn play store app updated itself like 3 times. Sad. I wonder where my d2 is prob still runnind rooted ics. I get the feeling that google is trying very hard to eliminate the ability to root all together. Hope im wrong. /rant
So within the past week or so one of the apps on my phone has been causing Ads to appear on my phone regardless of where I am on my phone (home screen, various apps, etc). They just start appearing. I figured my phone was infected because I've never seen this before. I started to go on Google's playstore and search for every app on my phone and check reviews. I figured whatever app was the culprit would have tons of 1 star reviews very recently. I searched for "TouchPal Emoji" and there's all the 1 star review saying they are getting ads on their phone.
This app was added to my ZTE Axon Pro by default. I'm not sure if it can be entirely removed from the phone either. I don't see it in my app list anymore but I'm not sure if its entirely gone. Anyone else experience this?
I had this as well, and went through my apps... I suspected the Touchpal - disabled it, and saw the side icon disappear (it was asking to install a game as well as the ads) trying to remove it - it would not let me - but asked if I wanted to roll back to the original touchpal. Did that and left it disabled.
hi all,
i bought a new s10 a couple of weeks ago and after setting up everything and installing all of my apps which come from the playstore I am randomly receiving spam whenever i unlock my phone or during the use of whichever app.
what happens is that either chrome or (after i have uninstalled chrome) the samsung browser came in front and opens some **** websites..
i hope someone can give me some advice/hint where to look at, before i have to resignate and start by scratch.
what i already tried, is to uninstall a lot of apps i could have imagined to be the culprit and i also installed things like airpush detector, hoping they could find something.
PS: sorry if posted this thread in the wrong section. did not know where to put at all.
thank you and regards

problem solved.
malware found and deleted.
I found this article...
What you have to do is… go to the Settings followed by Application Manager or Apps here you will find a list of all the installed apps in your android phone. So scroll downwards and you will find an Unnamed App with no thumbnail installed in your phone… most probably this app appears at the last of the list. Just uninstall this app and you are all set. All thing become normal and avoid installing apps from any of the unknown resources.
