Backup your apps and other pertinent data and DO A FULL WIPE.
Don't complain about it. Just do it. If you try to post bug reports or complaints and you have not conducted a wipe of:

I will completely and utterly ignore you, as well as report your post for not reading the clearly posted rules at the top of this post.
UPDATE FROM OMNI VIA OPEN DELTA UPDATER
Settings -> System Updates -> Check for update
You will NOT need to wipe anything with the delta updates unless it is explicitly stated or you start having strange issues.
Omni only supports TWRP recovery, use any alternate recovery at your own risk.

This is NOT the place to ask questions like:
When will <feature> be included?
Is <feature> included yet?
Can you bring <feature> to Omni?
ETAs of any nature
Follow the rules. This is a new thread and it WILL remain clean and ON TOPIC. I will immediately report any off-topic posts, trolling, flaming, etc. of any sort. This is a DEVELOPMENT thread, and as such, has been posted in the DEVELOPMENT section.
INCLUDE LOGS when reported a bug. Even if you think that you might be the only one with the bug, POST LOGS, that will help narrow down the issue about 100 million times!
Explore the ROM a bit before posting here things like " WHERE IS <feature> CAN YOU ADD FEATURE etc. etc.
You have to understand, that gets extremely annoying after 50 posts like that. Most features can be seen on the blog or in the MERGED section of gerrit.
Root IS NOT included with Omni by default, so you will need to flash SuperSU in recovery SuperSU

Using 052814 unified build with 052414 full modular gapps...ROM boots but gets stuck at the "setup wizard". After you select your language and press the white triangle it reads " Welcome...please wait a few minutes" for a minute or so...the the screen goes black except for the status bar and the backlights on the hardware keys stay on.
I clean flashed twice then downloaded the ROM and gapps for a 2nd time then clean flashed those twice...all with the same results as described above.
Hope this helps.

Yes. If you notice, I closed the individual variant threads and put a direct link to this thread. Basically, you can see a list of supported variants by checking this:
https://github.com/omnirom/android_device_samsung_jflte/blob/android-4.4/BoardConfig.mk#L129
That is the list of device asserts that the updater-script will accept.

I just flashed the 05/28 nightly (on my jfltespr) with the 4-16 Minimal PA Gapps with absolutely no errors. This most definitely sounds like a Gapps problem to me, since the SetupWizard is not packaged or built with the ROM, but instead flashed with Gapps. This is why if you were to NOT flash a Gapps package, you don't have to run through it.

Thank you for the quick reply,
What about the locked bootloader, Are there any points I should pay attention to ?
Or i can just download the recent file (from http://dl.omnirom.org/jflte/) and flash it over my current version (jflteatt)

If you are already running Omni then you're fine. Just follow the instructions from the OP.
These instructions are written under the assumption that you know how to root and install a custom recovery.

You can see that from gerrit as well as the XDA News Portal...

flashed the 30th nightly, thought of asking about two things,
1. why does the initial setup page needs a working data connection?
2. i lost root after a clean install, am i missing something?

Hello Jakew02
I moved over to your latest rom yesterday the 5/29 nightly and i came across a couple issues.
i have been using cm mod since the days of android cupcake and decided to try this out.
1st issue is when im trying to lower the phone ringer volume, it always goes to lower the sounds/music volume. it is pretty annoying because i have to make all the sliders come out and manually slide the phone ringer volume. even after switching between apps and what not it insists on lowering the music volume.
2nd issue is i cannot get the multi window to work or how to enable it. i have downloaded and installed these apps :halo)),multiwindowsidebar, toggle multiwindow, xhalo floating, xmultiwindow, and xposed installer. also the fixvisibilityofmultiplenonulls. Any help on getting it to work will be appreciated. i am very new to this feature since ive never had it in CM since i thought u couldnt get it, only on Stock Samsung roms.
lastly, is there any way to add shortcuts to the unlock slider like in cm?
thanks

These aren't issues or bugs at all; you just haven't looked around the settings.
all of your questions can be answered by just looking through the settings.

i have stated multiple times that kernel developers will need to begin released "omni-based" kernels.
I WILL NOT alter this ROM to accommodate custom kernels. the kernels need to change to be compatible with the ROM.
Custom kernels will not just magically start working. Kernel developers need to remove the flo adreno drivers and related commits from their kernels. If they don't know which commits those are, they can simply cherry-pick this commit: https://github.com/omnirom/android_kernel_samsung_jf/commit/068449af3996f1072c80dcc4a09a88af43abd7f7
contained in that commit is all of the reverts needed to make a cyanogenmod-based kernel work with Omni.
I have spoken with @Entropy512 about this a few times and we both agreed that we will NOT be altering the ROM in order to this one device to be able to use flo adreno stuff. That's just stupid and causes more work and problems for everyone else.
So the bottom line on this is, if you want a custom kernel, ask your kernel devs to cherry-pick the above commit and release Omni kernels separately from CM-based one.
If anyone has a problem with this, well, gerrit is free to use and open to all.
As before I will use this comparison to better justify my decision:
You wouldn't buy a Playstation controller(an accessory) to use with your Xbox(a primary), once you get home and realize it doesn't work because it's designed for something other than what you have, you call Microsoft and demand that they make the Xbox(primary) work with Playstation controllers(accessory)?
Absolutely Not. If ANYTHING, you would call Sony and demand that they make their controllers(accessory) work with the xbox system.
Hope this clarifies that issue a little better for everyone.
Also on another note:
I have narrowed down the camera preview freeze down to one repository

Jake the only reason I asked was because I did a bit of testing for you where the testbuild had support for custom kernels and you said that it should be fixed and you would push the change when you could. I even followed up with you at a later time and you said you hadn't had time/inclination to do it yet. I'm not demanding anything of you and I didn't want to bug you with the issue so I asked someone else who was in similar territory. Had I known about your changed stance on the issue, I wouldn't have brought it up.
mod found not to be working with many roms, taken down, may get reuploaded soon.

Like vulkan/graphic blobs, this zip contains fingerprint and audio, media blobs from Mi Max Nougat rom. It is universal and has ota survival.
Based on this credits to Xiaomi, @MOVZX and @minz1, i just made the zip. Please give credits to them if you use it in your rom.
Instructions:
1. Download the zip audiofpmedia_170117.zip or audiomedia_170117.zip
2. Reboot to recovery
3. Copy/move zip to phone memory and flash it.
Note: On abhishek's 151116 firmware, new fingerprint blobs do not work, so flash fp zip if you have newer firmware only.

Will this fix the sound bugs? Like when you're playing music with earphones plugged in and you set notification sound (music will pause), and then when music comes back, the music plays at speaker too and earphones at the same time.
BTW, great job for working hard. I'll switch to N ROMs is this is the fix.

This is correct, but neither should a ROM be posted in the Themes, Apps and Mods section, so I'm going to move it to How-To for now.
If you would like your ROM moved to the Development section, it must meet the requirements stated in the sticky titled "Device Forum Rules (Please Read before posting)". In particular, the OP must contain a link to all relevant sources as described in post #2. Once your OP is properly updated, send me a PM and it can be moved.
Thank you.

Users may be coming from other ROM.
Example: I am on crDroid. If I come to your Beta version, I assume that I have to do clean install. I have to follow the steps as below,
1. Clean wipe everything (via TWRP => data format, wipe dalvik/chache, system and data)
2. Flash the OB5 firmware/MODEM (your 59mb file)
3. Flash ROM
4. Flash GAPPS
5. Flash NoVerity (opyional) only if want to have device decrypted
Your instruction can be slightly tweaked in two parts.
(1) for users coming from official Oreo 8.0, and
(2) for users coming from other custom ROMs (like I expained above)
Am i correct in my assumptions.

Hi all.
Compatibility:
Builds starting with r1 up to r7 are compatible with stock Android Oreo 8.0.0.
Builds starting with r2 are compatible with Android Oreo 8.1.0 custom roms.
Builds starting with r8 are compatible with stock Android Oreo 8.1.0.
Download:
https://francokernel.app
Installation:
Not rooted or using another custom Kernel
1 - Dirty flash your rom
2 - Go through the whole recovery installation procedure
3 - Flash Magisk
4 - Flash the zip in your recovery
Rooted and upgrading FK
1 - Flash the zip in your recovery
or
Auto-flash from Kernel Manager for Franco Kernel -> it's magical
Features:
1 - Legendary battery life
2 - Flash & forget
3 - Typical interfaces like display adjustments, sound control, vibration control, and all that boring stuff
4 - Bypasses the verified boot flag for Android Pay compatibility (root still breaks Android Pay but that's your own problem)
5 - Idle power consumption reduced to the absolute minimum (if you have wakelocks from 3rd party apps you're obviously on your own)
6 - Support for FKUpdater's Performance Profiles
7 - Magical support, I'm here every day, checking posts almost hourly, ready to help anytime (well, unless you fail to read the OP, which contains most info you need)
8 - Seemless integration with my app FKUpdater
9 - No crap placebo patches, or "magical" optimizations
10 - Probably more, check my github for all the details - the code speaks for itself

Slight OT is fine, but when users decide to act stupid they should be dealt with with the appropriate means - its really annoying for me when OT turns crazy. Please put the warning/ban hammer anytime any of you think there's lack of respect and/or too much unwanted OT crap - but if it doesn't meet this criteria let the OT posts alone. Thank you.

Stock rom:
This Kernel doesn't touch WiFi in any shape or form, it uses the built-in WiFi module that's present on stock rom. If you're using a custom Kernel that messes with the WiFi stack (eg. injecting a custom WiFi module) you must dirty flash your rom first to ensure WiFi will work properly. You've been warned.

Ok links are up, OP is complete. There's very useful info in the #2 post, so please don't skip it.
Enjoy!
1. Dirty flashed fastboot ROM.
2. Boot to TWRP | Install TWRP zip.
3. Install Magisk.
4. Install Kernel
Works great! Does the Mac Address really change when one switches Kernels? I noticed it here and the last Kernel I flashed.

It shouldn't, mac adress is hw specific, but I don't really know if there's an address randomization - not really my area of expertise, I might be 100% wrong.

That's odd. I think you may be correct. It reverted back to my original mac address from before I flashed the previous kernel I was using. I saw it from an old entry in my router's config page.
By the way. Did you do something to make the device boot faster or am I just experiencing a placebo effect of sorts?
Omni 9.0 has gone official.
See https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xz/development/rom-omnirom-t3912113
This thread is now closed.

These builds are UNOFFICIAL! They do not meet the quality standards of the OmniROM project.
Flash at your own risk! You have been warned.
OmniROM 9.0 builds based on kernel 4.9. The internals are mostly the same as my regular AOSP nightly builds.
SELinux: Enforcing (but lax policies right now)
Priv-app permisisons: Enforcing
Dm-verity: Disabled
Latest downloads: sx.ix5.org
Latest semi-stable will be called "-SEMISTABLE".
Install guide: sx.ix5.org (it should be the same as for AOSP).
Changelogs: TBD
Known bugs: See sx.ix5.org
Read the install guide and post #2 before reporting bugs or asking for help!
DO NOT POST HERE FOR FLASHING HELP OR YOU WILL BE REPORTED. Read everything before posting.
Don't make me ask you for logs every time!

Reporting bugs
Important: Read the bug list before posting. Anyone can add bugs to the list, just follow the rules.
If you have questions, ask them in this thread: Xperia XZ Pie ROMs Questions and Answers Thread
I will repeat the rules again here:
Rules:
New bugs must include version where error popped up and which oem version you are using
Only reproducible errors
Should include adb logcat (linked in a pastebin service like https://del.dog)
Must include clear description what is wrong
If it is a visual/SystemUI bug, only report it here
If it is an internal bug(e.g. fingerprint crashes device), report it to the Sony bugtracker as well!
Always try to fix the bug yourself first! Then submit a pull request to Sony
Must search if error has already been reported (bug tracker, this document, dev buglist)
If you've reported the issue somewhere else already and just want to track it here as well, add a link
Before reporting a bug, always make sure to isolate it. That means, wipe everything, install only the ROM without GApps and Magisk and see if the problem still exists. Only then report the bug!
Reserved

Just a question, what version of the OEM I should I use? I know that some of them have a few bugs in then, what would you recommend? Latest OEM or a previous one?

I'm using the one from AOSP 9.0 thread and it works fine.
Can't play m4a audio files
I'm using omni_kagura-2018-12-06-UNOFFICIAL_NIGHTLY
successfully flashed it with gapps, magisk 18 etc
it seems that with any audio player i can't play my m4a audio files.
+ is this rom the same as your other aosp 9.0?
Please, please do not abandon development

Update
New build up, 2019-01-23. This is a "user" build, and as usual, runs enforcing SELinux. Getting very close to an official build.
This release is only compatible with the v5 binaries.
In case you need better battery life over fast screen wake-up, you can turn on Deep Sleep in Settings -> System -> Advanced -> Extended Settings and toggle "Disable Deep Sleep".
Please test thoroughly and report the bugs as described in post #2.
Hi guys
Tranks for your work, Is there a list of known errors in this construction?
Thanks.
Need to get home so I can test this. Been on Omni Oreo for awhile. Been waiting for a good pie rom, especially if it's a omnirom

Can seem ridiculus my question, but It happened to me...
You intent flash with flashtool open? This can been the reason of error when youre try flash adb mode.

I flash with flashtool. Flash the recovery, flash the OEM that's listed for the install. But when I boot into recovery, it says it can't mount /OEM. I don't understand what's happening when I followed the directions step by step.
