Soft-bricked device - no idea how to proceed pls help - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
so yesterday while modding my Note9 something failed and forced it into a bootloop,
it specifically happened while uninstalling a "remove status bar clock" mod in substratum (based on legit bought andromeda). However my phone now just bootloops and then forces either into recovery mode or another strange mode with fewer options (try again/ erase app data/ power off/ view rescue log).
My note9 is an unrooted exynos with the newest samsung firmware (April-patch) and boots up in encrypted mode btw.
I would so glad for any help or tips about how to fix this.
Cheers

Flash the latest offical stock ROM. Do you know how to do it using Odin? Also wipe the phone at the same time (by choosing the CSC-file, not the home_CSC and tick of "Nand erase" in Odin)

It is not rooted, so how am I supposed to do this? Isn't there a possibility to wipe apps through adb? so I can delete substratum and reboot normally?

No, you don't need root to flash stock ROM.
If you think the app is the problem, you can try to start the Note in safemode by holding the volume down button when starting the phone. (You have to hold it from the Samsung logo appears to the phone has booted up) If your phone boots up fine, you can Uinstall it.

If safemode does not work, here is a guide how to flash:
ROM you can download using samfirmware.com or using samfirm software (I use it myself, it is much faster). Search it up on Google and you will find a link to xda where yoy can download it

Did I just super brick my phone?

So what I did was I was on Rocket Rom. I wanted to switch roms back to gingerbread stock to check out the diffrence in battery life. So I did a flash with Oden and all wen't fine. After that I went to stock ics 4.0.3 to check the diffrence in battery life. After I've seen enough of stock ics I wanted to go to classic rom v6. At first I flashed it with Odin but it got stuck at the gt n-7000 logo. I then reflashed it again and I still had the same problem. I then reverted back to stock ics but it won't work with Odin. I get stuck at factoryfs.img, and If I try odin with gingerbread it goes a little further but is then also stuck.
Did I super brick my phone?
Edit: I also can't get in recovery anymore, only in download mode. My pc picks up my phone if I connect it
I did some factory wipes etc but I'm not certain on which kernel/rom I was then.
You seem to have soft bricked your phone!
Take your battery out for 15 seconds, put it back in and hit the keys to get into download mode: VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER!
After you are in download mode flash HydraCore kernel on your phone (is it a safe kernel)
After your phone reboots to the same steps as above but instead of VOL DOWN, hit VOL UP + HOME + POWER
AND you should enter recovery mode!
In there do a full wipe which consists in:
wipe data and factory reset
wipe cache
Mounts and storage -> format /system
Advanced -> wipe dalvik cache
And flash the rom and you are good to go

Ok I did a succesfull flash on the kernel. Now I can boot up in recovery mode and I wanted to wipe data but it's stuck at it
Message is:
CWM-based recovery v6.0.1.2

Formatting /data...
and there it's stuck, any idea?
Force it to reboot and do the same steps to reenter recovery!
When in recovery do: Advanced -> Reboot recovery
Then try to flash a cyanogenmod rom directly and gapps
For example this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1761190
and give me some feedback
---------- Post added at 04:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:55 PM ----------
If the above steps don't work tell me and we are going to do one thing!
But i will explain afterwards

Can I also try RocketRom or Kingdroid v8 by dr tailly or alliencerom? Or can I try to flash stock ics with Odin?
Since I don't have cyanogenmod currently and I'm kinda low on bandwitch, or is it a must?

Does the data wipe have something to do with that yellow triangle I get when I boot up the phone at the gt n-7000 logo?

Think that's a flash count. If you go into download mode it may have a count for custom flashes. If so you need to use triangle away to clear it.

Yes indeed, now it says I have 1 count.
I can't seem to use any rom to recover from trough the recovery mode. They all seem to fail?
Everytime I get an error (status 0)
Anyone a clue on what to do now?

That error is usually caused by an incompatible update-binary in edify ZIPs. Replacing it with a compatible one, then re-signing the ZIP, will usually fix that error,
Bottom line, something's wrong with your cwmr, henceforth you can't install ROMs from there..(unless you fix your updater script and update the binary file in cwmr). For now, just use PC Odin to flash your custom ROM.

But the problem is I can't flash any roms from pc odin because they seem to be stuck at factoryfs.img, and I googled that problem and that seems to be related to a super brick
^its partly related on that...
tell you what, have you tried first running the partition scan on your device to check for bad /corrupted blocks? if not yet, do try running that program... you can verify for yourself that your Note might or might not have those bad blocks already... run it first and post your results here after.

Wel looks like its stuck?
This is what it displays:
mmc=mmcb1k0
/dev/block/mmcb1k0p1
scanned 19 MiB = 20 MB Completed --> OK
/dev/blockmmcb1k0p10
That's what it shows
EDIT: Oh wait I've downloaded this one 120824-151927-emmc_scan_all_partitions_once.zip - [Click for QR Code] (400.7 KB, 468 views)
I think I should download the one with brick and start, sorry for confusing you
Ok so I ran the program starting from 0 and and it stopped at 1023MiB so it means that block or the blocks after that are bricked.
Any possible solution?
Thanks
^ so listen, now that you've verified you have some bad blocks on your phone, the only other method you can do is using the pit file method - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667886, (credits still to hg42), this will in itself will partition your file system to get over those bad blocks (drawback on the end result is that you will lose much ram on your phone) but still have a working phone nonetheless.

Well can I get rid of that yellow triangle without a jtag since I can't boot up and run Triangle Away. Because if I cant I will go to the pit file method. Otherwise I will send it to a samsung service
EDIT: I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663237
Where you flash a kernel that would reset binary counter and removes the yellow triangle. Downside is that it has caused many hard bricks but since I'm already hard bricked it wouldn't matter I assume? So then I can safely return it to my samsung point.

yeah if you can find a way to use a usb jig to reset your binary counter theh your good to go in sending your phone to SSC.

Phone restarts every minute, cannot enter recovery mode, Please help!

As I said, phone is restarting every minute, it cannot enter recovery mode by using 3 buttons. I've tried hard resetting, but whenever I press the button to erase it, it either does nothing or it restarts again. Also whenever I change some of the settings they revert after a restart. I've tried flashing some rooted roms with odin, and it said "pass" but phone still remained the same. I've tried flashing pit files, the three button recovery and all, but still nothing did any good... Is there any way I can fix this? Is there any way to find stock official images and install them without odin, like LG's software update kdz, or HTC official installer files? Is the phone just dead? Please help guys!

Well from what I see, it seems she checked right options. What could possibly go wrong with it? After Odin was done, the phone was exactly the same as before...
If odin fails try unchecking the reboot option and flash again.

Try to install twrp from novafusion by odin without checked 'restart phone'. Then pool out battery, put inside and go to recovery mode. Choose wipe, advanced wipe, choose everything without SdCard and slide button. Next turn off phone.
After this turn on download mode and install stock rom by odin.
If it not help, you have bricked phone.
Try any method but i dont know why you do something with pit file. Its not recommended to do wth this if its not necesary.
Cheers!

I don't think pit file thing did anything because phone just reverted back. By the way phone is running stock it isn't rooted. Shouldn't it be rooted for custom recoveries?

Answered on your question, yes. Because you need full access to operations on your phone. Btw, when you instal twrp and in some part of this recovery you want leave and restart, twrp ask you, did you want root your rom (its clue).
The easiest way to root your stock rom, find thread with prerooted stock rom to install by odin. Its the easiest way.

Can anyone help me please? I am unable to root my S5 900H which is on latest update 1 day ago 6.0.1 . I tried 4-5 times using ODIN but even after ODIN showing I was successful, the phone doesnt go into TWRP. i know i am doing something wrong but not sure where. Here is what i am doing.
1) Downloaded TWRP recovery (3.0.2 and even tried previous version 3.0)
2) Started ODIN 3.09 (also did on 3.12 latest)
3) Put Recovery.tar.md5 file in AP and clicked Start
4) Successful message confirmation and phone reboots itself
5) Vol Up + Home + Power button and it goes into Default Android recovery.
6) Knox meter shows 1 instead of 0
So what am i doing wrong? Could it be my USB cable? its not original, but ODIN recognizes the phone and says successful at the end.

I think your problem is that you're not on the stock rom and you're trying to use the stock recovery... dm_verity goes hand in hand with the official rom, you can see this if you go into download mode, you would see binary would say something like "samsung official" system status would say something like "original" or "official". You can find this in smart switch > more > emergency software recovery and initialization > device initialization.
Why is using TWRP not possible? Please elaborate, what rom are you running? I think 3rd party recovery is necessary to bypass this issue in all cases when using unofficial rom.
I would suggest initializing your device via smart switch, make sure to back up everything if you can as it will be lost, however, I think that it should resolve the issue entirely. Initialization if you can't boot into stock rom, you will need to enter download mode and in smart switch type the model number and then the serial number, it should initiate then.
You could try waiting for someone who knows their stuff, but initialization via smart switch (not just the image pulled from sammobile which leaves some files out) is probably the way to go, IMO. I'm just a novice, but I'm the only one that's replied, so hopefully some others can chime in and say if I'm giving you bad advice.

You will always fail dm-verity in stock recovery on a modified device.
It's pointless trying to OTA on a modified device. It will fail.
To update you need to flash the stock firmware with odin in DOWNLOAD mode not RECOVERY.

So my questions are
1. Has someone else installed it without my knowledge?
2. Has someone installed something through adb sideload without my knowledge?
3. Have i deleted something I shouldnt have?
4. When i go into stock recovery and before i choose what to such as "recovery logs" if i hold down the home/finger print button for about 2 secs the highlighted colour changes from blue to green, is this normal?
Thanks in advance

@Nekrofiili said rooting broke his camera and speaker, do you think it's because of wrong kernel?
Confirmed working on j530f/DS (dual sim)
Thank you!

Which method did you use? The process from the main post or the one posted by @ksa616 on flashing the kernel?

I just followed the instruction in the main post and no issue, no need to flash a different kernel
What version of stock ROM should already be installed for this Rooting instructions to work? I am currently using PDA J530FXWU2AQL4 and CSC J530FOJV2AQL1. Will this work?
Asking
This is work for Samsung J530Y?

I experienced the same problem, so I had to re-install the stock firmware via Odin. Just look for the stock firmware on the internet (for your phone- mine is J530F), then download Odin and flash it. The process is straightforward and available on the internet, especially YouTube.
Good luck.
Problem with recovery, now Boot-loop
Followed the instructions
When I tried to backup the phone, the storage spaces were all 0MB.
Then obtained error:
