Hello guys,
I bought Exynos s10 in India recently and is super happy except for its horrible battery life. I knew issues before but I expected atleast a day before charging again. My S10 currently drains battery like Sun does to water....Really bad...3-4 hrs sot.
I am not a heavy user but I install lot of apps and doesn't close them often. I debloated my phone by following guidelines in this forum and run on medium power saving mode.
Battery life remains bad on any mode, even on maximum power saving mode....culprits are android system and etc...on normal modes, android system, google play services and samsung push service with nova running in background. I am attaching few screens here.
I am planning to do a factory reset and setup again but this time I will not debloat any apart from Facebook related apps (current debloat includes fee bixby related packages, digital wellbeing etc..)
I want to know if there is someone getting 5hrs SOT on medium to heavy usage without debloating and running Google play services...
Note: I use most of Google services and I am a Google maps local guide...so I turn on location for google and always have auto sync on.

had very bad battery life on my s10 these last month with recent updates, reverting back to the original firmware from march fixed it.
Couldn't get 5 hrs STO on a S10e before, now i usually get around 6hrs with location enabled, bluetooth always connected to my smart watch and always 4g.
I have the S10 exynos in India. I agree the SOT is pretty bad from my previous Moto Z Play. I am a heavy user, so I don't expect too much SOT anyways.
Most of the stuff is kept ON in my phone, like location & sync, all the time. Screen at 1440p. If I end up reaching around 10% before charging, I have around 5hrs SOT. Otherwise, I generally put it to charge at around 25%, with SOT around 4.5hrs.
Also, I haven't debloated anything via adb. Just disabled Facebook & related applications.
EDIT: I keep the power mode as Optimised.

How did you disable apps ? Any disabler app or just via app > disable from settings ?

I think I have an issue with my battery, or possibly phone!
On my Galaxy S3 LTE I've been experiencing very poor battery life recently and have tried a few suggestions to improve it.
I have kept the screen brightness on -5, I have applied Power Saving Mode, disabled 4G mode (not using currently anyway) and installed a battery saver app (Internet Commander). However none of these seems to have made a difference!
As an example, here is my phone at 5.36 this morning on 71%. That is after I took it off a full charge at 11.30pm when I went to bed. So in Standby it had used 29% in around 6 hours. Then it just got worse through the day...

At 3.23 I had just 8% battery left!! And that was after a top up charge of about 20% around 11am!! I had listened to half a dozen songs on the phone but thats it!
As you can see I do have data enabled, and just the standard apps installed (WhatsApp, KIK messenger, facebook, BBC Weather, Sky News, etc...). I also only have 1 widget on my home screens which is the BBC Weather app widget.
Could it just be a faulty battery? Would a faulty battery cause this kind of rapid decrease?

I blame those battery intensive apps showing in your statusbar. Your battery is being used by Cell Standby, this is your Data connection being used to receive notifications. The fact that you have high Google Services percentages also points to this since it uses your wifi and radio to get your location periodically when set to do so. Start by disabling feature under location settings. Next, have a look at Android Device Manager in Google Settings, disable the location setting if you do not intend to use it. Anything that uses your Data, will cause more drain, especially on higher bands like HSPA.
Again, Whatsapp and Kik will constantly receive push notifications and sync, this also adds to your battery drain.
Thank you, I will try your suggestions
Hi, i had the Problem with huge batterx drain too. The battery didn't last much longer than 8 hours. My phone didn't go to deep sleep mode
I then installed wake lock detector and One Power Guard. In One Power Guard i aktivatet AI mode and now it looks like this:
Hope this helps

Hello guys,
Can you post some details about your average screen off consumption ?
And some details about the variant/conditions like : Exynos/Snapdragon, 12GB/16GB, 5G/4G, mobile data, wifi, Bluetooth on, dual/single-sim use, AOD on etc.
You can use Accubattery or similar app to test it.
I am at 34.3mah/hour.
Exynos, 12GB, 4G, mobile data, wifi, Bluetooth on, dual-sim, aod off
Edit: i think the ROM Will also be relevant. I am on AUB9
0.4%/h with AUB6. before AUB6 was 0.7-0.8%/h
512 exynos, wifi/4g, aod on tap, bluetooth when needed, AUB 9

Sorry 0.1% per hour screen off drain time seems almost implausible
I get like 0.6/0.7% per hour screen off drain overnight on WiFi and most things turned off (don't need nfc, Bluetooth, location etc. whilst I'm sleeping). Goes up if I'm using the phone
Did you see an instant improvement removing those apps or was it gradual? Did you deep sleep apps yourself or let the system do it?
adamlee2012 said:
Saw instant improvement. I had galaxy max Hz disabled for battery optimization which could have been the reason.

What else have you done to optimise? I have both installed but might try it tonight.
Can't hurt to try, quite liked the notification bar refresh rate notification but can live without. My battery life is reasonable but can always be improved

It is hard to believe, but it is very clear. Are you on Exynos or snapdragon? I use maxHZ, but it is optimised and I don't see it to be on consumption list.

Exynos. Couldn't figure out why after a factory reset my battery was still ****. But I did put both them apps back on my device. Then instantly got better battery once uninstalled.

I will try to disable maxHZ and see if that changes anything. Were you on airplane mode This? This is the best I got on AUB9.

So I deleted both naptime and Galaxy Hz (it's worth noting the latter doesn't need to be unoptimized in settings).
Looked like Accubattery is buggy on my phone (S21U Exynos) as it claimed I lost 0% in 8 hours of screen off, but 5% in the 10 seconds of SOT I had. (Stupidly deleted the app without screenshotting)
GSAM as shown below shows it was actually 5% in just over 8 hours but appears that my Naptime behaviour was still implemented despite removing the app (forcing doze without motion sensors makes it stay in light doze with all the characteristics of deep doze).
So from my brief one night study, no discernible difference having Galaxy hz installed and optimised vs uninstalled. Am reinstalling Naptime to try and get it to turn off and see what happens tonight.

Nice just made a routine to switch to 2G and turn off mobile data when at home and connected to wifi, this should increase battery even more
Galaxy Labs has battery optimizing modules. One of them tells you which apps sip what amount of battery.

It seems both your top apps look like tickers with very low computational impact on the CPU. If everyone's so bothered about the SOT, here's a trick..download google play books and read or keep the app open for as long as you can. You will easily reach 20 hours+ of SOT. I tried this, I was reading a book with 3hrs 24mins of SOT and lost 20% over the course since I had used the phone normally for daily stuff - watching YouTube, WhatsApp, Telegram, Browsing, emails etc. Now, if I extrapolate this usage, and if I continued to use the phone only to read my book...ceteris paribus, I should be touching 17 hours of SOT! The point I'm trying to make is SOT is not "the" yardstick to measure the phone's performance and we should all just get over this obsession!
Please don't read me wrong...I'm not criticizing anyone but just wanted to put this point across. We should be more concerned with rogue apps, unnecessary system apps running in the background, inconsistent hardware performance than SOTs...

I agree with you though
Lol i don't think SOT mean anything i watch movie and novel/manga all day long can easily reach 20+ or so but i do use battery saver mode trick with 120hz
Spoiler: Screen shot
Is that so

Oh how nice - a fellow Latin speaker.
The 11 hours SOT wasn't to prove any kind of point - rather, the March update seems to have done wonders for battery life. Audentes fortuna iuvat. At least a +20% improvement. As for light usage, nonsense. Tinder, Twitter and similarly ****ty apps eat up far more than the likes of Binance, inter alia. Delta is open the most and syncs with my brokerages every 15 mins so is a constant draw.
All in all, your snarky post therefore leaves a whiff of doli capax. But hey, although I would recommend the S21 Ultra to anyone.. caveat emptor.
Since the update my battery life has improved massively. I do use my phone a great deal and was getting perhaps a full day at a stretch. Now it's at 30 percent when I pop it on charge.
On Android 11 I once binged on Netflix and got 11 hours SOT as well and was pretty Chuffed.
I was home on WIFI. So really depends on apps used.
General usage ranges from 5 - 7 hours with gaming involved like COD
All I can say is its a very capable phone so enjoy it that way you want.
I keep everthing on Auto or Adaptive with 5g, 120htz and wqhd with bluetooth for headphones and huawei watch 2
I have phone for two day everything is ok except battery draining fast and phone getting hot when I watch some YouTube or just check something on the website or chatting with friends.
Anyone have same issue?! I have china version one.
Mine does not heat up. I occasionally play cod for maybe 1hr with no issues.
Certainly no heating up under normal use.
Battery - it will take a week to learn your usage and bed in.
I'm on 2 weeks in. 7.5 hrs sot over a 14hr work day. Exactly what I think a 4500mah 888 device should do.
I have my phone for 4 days now.
Heating up and battery drain...im just using email + messenger + facebook + Line + Whatsapp. Few calls during the day on Skype...
During night time battery goes down 1% per 1hr = so approximately 8%

Sounds appy. Something running all the time?
Over a normal 12hr work day what sot etc do you get? This is an easy 7.5hr sot over a full day device.
I get that with everything on full except brightness usually at 50pc inside .
Can't comment on dropping overnight, mine sits on the wireless charger.

Yes...almost all applications on this phone. Even they are disabled from background if I open battery usage details I have for example netflix or YT running for 18hrs in the background and for example 20-30min in the foreground.

- others but rarely
SOT between 4:45 and 5:30hrs
The device is new, has only 2 weeks of use and I've updated it to MiUi 12.5.6 (RKLEUXM). My use is very moderate, some videos, social network just for conversations and only wi-fi connection. After the update, I noticed high battery usage even when I'm sleeping with all connections turned off. Obviously there is some battery thief, but it only appears in the graph as "smartphone services", this is not normal. Any idea?
I can even feel the phone a little warm around the cameras when I'm using it for basic stuff.

Try battery guru's app...
It's seem a 12.5 MIUI problem for all Xiaomi note 10 series
Something(s) are running in the background.
Try putting into Safe mode at night to rule out 3rd party apps.
Track down the culprits and deal with each on a case by case basis.
I have this device since August 27th, after setting it up, I started optimizing it, restricted background use for a lot of apps, well, everything that could be disabled or restricted, I only gave free pass to apps I consider important, but, the reults were really bad, 17% of overnight drain! Long story short, the optimization must be done very carefully, trying to stop all kind of things might prove negative, by trial and error, I now get a good battery life, now it barely consumes 1% in 8-9 hrs idling at night, aod off, wifi on, gps on, so, try to optimize your device carefully

Hi,
Did you single out what was the culrpit. I have disabled every non essential app, tried this solution: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/improving-battery-life-on-miui-12.4139913/
But nothing helps. It only shows that android system is drawing power.
I will be glad if you could point what you made to fix your phone
If there is any Firewall that can log with the newer "secure" OS's you can use that to help pinpoint the rogue apk(s).
With Pie I use Karma Firewall but it's logging feature doesn't starting with 10.
After doing everything I could think of, the AOD seems to be the culprit, even thoug I really like it, when disabling it, overnight battery consumption lowered to 1% in a 7 hrs period

Is tap on an option?
No, to achieve this low bat comsuption, I disabled miui optimizations, then, the option for aod is on or off, no more settings, I really like the aod, but the drain while idling drives me nuts... I painfully miss my galaxy note 10+.....
Meh, I hear that. It's to the point I got a second new 10+ while they're still available. They are the last of the stock devices running on Q.
I won't touch 11 or 12. Funny thing is it doesn't run like an outdated dinosaur.
Been a real bad year for Android...
