You can get Nightly Builds from the XASP by downloading the Master Branch Zip from GitHub to a Device or follow the Link on the GitHub Page to get Release Candidates with included GApps and other Extras. Before You can use Nightlies, is it essential to repack the Patch correctly. In order to do that extract the downloaded Zip File. You will get a Folder which contains all the Files of the Patch. Go inside of this Folder and pack all Files into a compressed standard Zip. I recommend 7zip/Bandizip on Windows and Rar on Android to do that. Follow the Instructions and Enjoy XASP!

Was wondering too.... When the requirements are Android 9 and latest SOC's

Nothing seems to work for me. Using PHH & Floko bases. I tried all of the TWRPs available on 9.5.16+9.5.9 but it keeps crashing at the AROMA installer. Any advice?

What I gather from the details above there needs to be an aosp rom already on board in order for this patch to work, but surely OP can throw some light. I don't think it will work on MIUI. Cheers.

I'm still after reading the first post not quite sure why we need this patch and what it does. ?

Excellent work!

Right, a ROM should be on Board. The Patch is a Update which has to be cleanly flashed on top of a OS to be able to change files and add non existing ones before the system has booted the first time with that changed System. I maked ROMs some Years ago and tried also Magisk Modules but this is still the smartest and cleanest way to gain extra Features and a higher Quality overall. MIUI is supported since the last Version, Thread will be updated soon.

It gives Your OS/Device Features that You don't get anywhere else. Mostly noticeable will be the fluid ui, sharper and brighter Visuals and a massively better Audio Output and Input over all sources. There are many ported and edited configs from other flagships and even Android TVs that You will find in no ROM and for sure not in AOSP. AOSP is restricted to use Open Source Files while the Patch can adds whatever i want. For Example the true and full Pixel Experience which others just promise and don't deliver since it lacks on many System Files under the hood. I putted many Thousands of Hours over the Years to get out what each line on the build.props do and how Android Works. I don't wanted to create another ROM or just a Audio Mod. I want to deliver the full Package and while my presentations may suck am i a lot better on making Android better.
I even fixed things that OEM doesn't managed to do like Qualcomms Fluence Audio and FluencePro handling which got a V2 with the Pixel 2 Series and was broken on 80% of the Device i have seen. The OEMs and AOSP creators just disabled it which ended in Mic Problems and bad Quality. I fixed that with many depending Configs which are missing otherwise. That's also the Reason why it's on GitHub. People can see what i do and learn from it. Google for "Mic Fix Android" and You will find many entries based on Fluence Audio Lines which i discovered back on the Nexus 6 and growd like a Fire on the Web in the Hope one or two edits will Fix all Mic Problems. But enough of the Words, i recommend to try it for some Days to find all the functions and to see how much difference it makes to get a Optimized OS instead of a regular generic one...

OK, thanks, I have a clue what this "add on" is about now.
But it's still a little wage.
So a video of the features that were add would actually be really useful, u know?
And I'm not interested in setting up my phone again, so maybe later, when backups actually work on this device, I'll try it out.

Sounds fair I will try to make something that explains it without many words... The OS has for sure some nice things to show after flashing the Patch :good:

If you look at the last comit, you can see it supposedly support MIUI : https://github.com/Miustone/XASP/commit/002598768ee4eceed3119392263c93e9f64e669b
But I agree, installation and usage is hazy at the moment...

Thanks, I'll definitely add extras to this Currently trying to merge all the different volume levels into one, mainly because I dislike having 4 volumes to keep track of.
Future ideas I'm thinking of are porting the FM Radio support across from the N1 and including this HW video decoding when it's released: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxNWmKKJ0AA&feature=player_embedded
Any suggestions on what else to add? I'm thinking of a bit of visual changes here and there too.
Wow, this video gives me great hopes about playback of videos on Nexus S. Seems to work a lot better than MoboPlayer everyone seems to love (but why ? yes it "plays" many codecs, but videos are playing so slow...).
FM Radio support is a great thing too. I like Tunein Radio app but it uses 3g, and a real FM Radio would be perfect. I had one on Galaxy S and this is hard to do without it now.
I'm always looking for performance and battery improvements, so I think you could focus on this.
I always remove many things from roms I download, to get it as clean as possible, and to let people install what they want.
eg, in your rom, I'll remove TB, ROM Manager, google apps... Everything is on the market, I just let essential stuffs.
If the rom runs well, I'll post my clean version.
But waiting for FM Radio and video playback improvements now...
I don't know if it's included yet, but don't think so since this is based on AOSP, but buttons on status bar (wifi, gps, 2g/3g...) is quite essential.
Also, having battery % in status bar is needed too.

might as well use a CM7 base then -_- since you just requested every feature from CM
So there isn't any plus feature except "fast bootup".

I'll add an accurate battery mod soon, and I can look into the status controls (it was one of my most used features of CM7 after all ).
I'm gonna put together a list of stuff in the changelog post come to think of it, thanks for all the suggestions.

Not every, just 2 features, maybe just one since if I remeber well, there's an option in AOSP to get % instead of color thing. The option from CM7 just put % into color thing. Well, not sure about that, just tried AOSP 10 minutes when getting phone out of the box, before rooting and flashing stuffs.
And CM7 has bugs : go into SMS app, clic "attachments", take or make a video, clic record button... tadam ! Here's a bug !

Yet I didn't see many AOSP ROMs here so I thought I'd post an early version. Consider it a stable beta (0.1.0) Version 1 will be the release with major features.
wow.. im happy to see new developers for NS.. will support you.. its a bit disapointing when seeing not many developers working on NS since its release..
will give it a try 2nt

Hmmm, sounds good.
There are a few things you could add:
Maybe TV-out (Galaxy S)
The bouncy thing when you scroll too far in a menu (Galaxy S)
A few extra wallpapers (Any source)
Dlna.apk (I don't remember the name :O) (Galaxy S)
The extra codecs (Galaxy S)
FM Radio (If possible) (Galaxy S)
Menu option of darker layout to save battery (My mind :3)
Hardware accelerated browser like Opera Mobile 11
Some thing, its your choice if you decide to add anything, but good luck anyway
This might be the best rom after a while
Great to see a new rom in this section, also look to be a very promising one. I have question which i hope you can answer..why are almost all real custom roms using gri40 as a base...gri40 has limited support for quite a few European languages while gri54 does have that support but also includes full support for English ...on gri40 for example there is no Dutch dictionary for the keyboard also a lot of other options and settings are half English/Dutch ..i could understand the choice for gri40 if gri54 did not support English..but maybe i am missing something obvious and is gri40 really the best choice.

seems like a ROM that is going to stay and take a good share among users!

GRI40 is what comes in the AOSP source as far as I can tell. I haven't seen any AOSP roms (CM7, SuperAOSP, MIUI) with GRI54. Maybe its an option somewhere, I will try and find out. I also read somewhere that a rom switched back to GRI40 for market compatibility. If needed I can try and bring over the extra language support if I find the source of GRI54.
@everyone
Thanks for the feedback and ideas. I'm sure to include some of them, also any possible goodies the Incredible S brings to GB. I definitely wont be ditching my Nexus S any time soon, I usually keep my phones for at least a year and a bit, and I will be supporting this as long as I have my phone
Ill update the features list in a minute, earlier today I was working on an accurate battery so that's coming very soon.

Goal(concept)?
Hmm, The question that I'm going to ask you is weird, but I think this is important.
What is goal for your custom rom?
Fast & Stable, as you mentioned on the title?
If so, I'm gonna use this rom for my daily use because I'm a fanboy of that words; fast & stable.
OK. Thanks for your quick answer. I didn't know about gri40 being the only one showing up in aosp sources (i am quite new to this) it was just something i was wondering. Keep up your great work! Very curious how your rom will evolve..

Some good ideas there, some of which I hadn't thought of because they don't apply to me as such
With the TV Out, how does that work? I've never seen it done with anything other than HDMI and Apple 30pin... do you have some kind of special USB cable? DLNA is very similar, I might try that first.
I can try and add the bouncy thing, I've gotten quite used to the glow didn't like how CM had implemented it, bounced too much too quickly. I did previously own an iPod touch so I know how well it can be done
Extra wallpapers are definitely going to be added, suggestions for ones to be included would be helpful, although I have a few already.
The extra codecs will probably come with the hardware decoding support (when its released). Anything in particular? Eg FLAC?
FM radio is already on the list, but good to know there's interest for it
If I change any more apps to have a darker background, I'll definitely try to include a universal 'dark mode'. So far its only MMS.apk I think?

Contributors
iHackers, Sumedha Kapoor
ROM OS Version: 4.1.x Jelly Bean
ROM Kernel: Linux 3.0.x
Version Information
Status: Testing
Current Beta Version: v1.4
Beta Release Date: 2013-11-8
Created 2013-10-16
Last Updated 2013-12-14
Version Details:
Aroma Version:
Its the Big Daddy of all the other versions and the most ideal version to install for a person who knows what he is doing. It contains almost everything MIUI has to provide along with all the other Modifications, Tweaks, Fixes, Addons, Applications, Kernels, Recoveries, Mods, Bootanimations, Glass Apps, Google Apps, Bloatware Removal Script etc. The main thing that makes the Aroma Version perfect is that everything in the Installer is optional for the user to install, He/She can either install everything or nothing for a clean install. It gives you complete freedom to configure the ROM and your Device exactly the way you like.
Stripped Version:
Stripped Version should be chosen by those who simply don't want to download the whole Aroma Package everytime a new version is released either because they have low download bandwidth or they are using Addons Pack to get the missing features from the Aroma Version. The Stripped Version contains All the Modifications, Tweaks, Bootanimations, Fixes but one Kernel and No Glass Apps or other Google Apps. It does not have any undervolting script pre installed but all the Bloatware is already removed from it. Its simply the Aroma Version without all the optional stuff in it. If someone wants to install something from the Aroma Version He/She should download the Addons Pack and if someone wants any of the deleted apps that were deleted while the Bloatware Removal, He/She can get them from the Official Port or from Aroma Version or from any of the previous releases that he has already downloaded and can extract the apps from.
Minimal Version:
Minimal Version is a new version which has been specially optimized keeping the following things in consideration:
Lowest Possible Size
Battery Friendly
More and More Free RAM
All the Possible Bloatware Removed
No Additional Apps (Except the Most Required ones)
Optimized for best Performance, Speed and Smoothness
Etc ++
The Minimal Version contains All the Modifications, Tweaks, Fixes but Only one Kernel and Bootanimation, No Glass Apps and No Google Apps either. It does not have any undervolting script pre installed but all the Bloatware is already removed from it. If someone wants to install something from the Aroma Version He/She should download the Addons Pack and if someone wants any of the deleted apps that were deleted while the Bloatware Removal, He/She can get them from the Official Port or from Aroma Version.
This Version is Ideal for those who like a very very clean Install and like to customize and add everything exactly What and How they want. The only things left out in the Minimal Version are the Core Apps without which you would loose the entire feel of MIUI and without them there would be no pleasure in installing it.
Addons Pack:
The Addons Pack has everything in the Aroma Version except the ROM itself. It is being provided for Stripped, Minimal and Official Versions because they do not have anything from Aroma Version included in them. So, In case if someone wants to install something from Aroma Version, He/She should use the Addons Pack and as its based on Aroma to, so naturally He/She will have all the options with what to install and what not. This Pack will not only work with my ROM, or any other MIUI ROM alone, it will work with all other ROMs too (Ofcourse, The ones that support the Included Kernels).

Notes:
This ROM is for Unlocked Bootloaders Only.
Work on This ROM is Currently In Progress, You will see further Improvements as the ROM moves in its further Development Stages. This ROM is originally built by MIUI China Team and All the credits go to them.
In Case You Face Proximity Sensor Issues, Follow these two steps. Step 1: Install and configure Proximity Sensor Calibration from Market. Step 2: Install and configure Tasker / Automateit Pro / Proximity Screen Off Pro. Let me know if you can't get the apps.
In Case You Face Brightness Issues, use Disable Auto Brightness or Velis AutoBrightness App.
In Case You are Unable to Install the ROM, Whether the Aroma Installer finishes in a flash back, or It does not start at all or Unable to Mount System or Data, Follow these Steps: Verify the MD5 Hash of your file with the one listed on the Version's Download Page and in case it does not match, Download a New File of your Desired Version. Then Copy it to External SD Card, Flash Philz Recovery and Flash the ROM using that recovery.
If Anyone Have Problems With WIFI Region Code, Download WifiManager, Install it and Give it Root Permissions.
Please Do Mention all the Bugs and the Problems you face During the Installation Process or after the ROM has been installed. This will help me to improve and make it better with next releases. I would also like to request you to share your experience after using this ROM, Your Suggestions for the Improvement of the ROM will be greatly appreciated. Also If you feel that I should Include/Exclude any App/Mod/Tweak in the ROM, Let me know.
Choose Undervolting Wisely, It can cause random reboot issues, If thats not an issue for you then undervolting could be the best thing you would do for improving your phone's battery life.
Bloatware Removal is only suggested for the users who face RAM issues with this ROM, Don't just select all of them altogether first consider knowing what the apps that you are removing are actually for and whether it would be beneficial or harmful or problematic to remove them. Per App Details are mentioned in the Aroma Installer.

Sure, Whenever you feel like it. Its late here too. I am always hungry for a detailed review. This is the initial release, So, I did not go for any big changes in this release. I don't own an Galaxy S III but lot of users have been requesting me for very long to make this for their device. I developed this ROM originally for Xperia S, I just added some of the stuff from that ROM and made this build. Lets see how everything works out. I will dive in for bigger changes and improvements once I get some detailed reviews/reports on, Whats working and whats not, What should be Added / Improved / Removed, What are the major issues associated with this ROM and Detailed Reports on Performance, Speed, Smoothness, Responsiveness, Fluidity and Overall Quality. So, Just let me know whenever you can enlighten me with these things.
i was waiting for this rom

Nice ROM. Any chance to have the option to block ringer volume increase/decrease with the hardware volume buttons? Most people I know only really use the volume buttons for media volume anyway. The Galaxy S3 is notorious for bumping the volume buttons when pressing the power button on the opposite side. Its a great feature with the 4.3 ROM's, saves you from silent mode being deactivated by accident. I much prefer 4.1.2 ROM, though, due to better stability with my Bluetooth ERA headset. I will use this ROM and let you know how it fairs. Good job!
What about android version and based build ROM?

I am glad that you feel this way. I am sure users will love this ROM. This is only an initial beta release though, You will bigger and better improvements in the coming releases when I am well informed with what users exactly want their ROM to be like. So, Whenever you install the ROM, take it to roughest and longest test drive and let me know what you feel about it and what can be done to make it even better.

Its based upon JB 4.1.1 and I chose that because some users requested me to as they didn't want to loose the features from the Stock ROM and break a few features like FM Radio (Which is usually the case in CM based ROMs). Well, this is the initial release, I will go on with porting MIUI on JB 4.1.2 or maybe JB 4.2.2 when a stable stock build is available later on. If you guys want me to make another CM based ROM then let me know. Stock Based or CM Based its your choice, I am good with both, Its upto you guys to choose which one you want.

It will be very easy to port that feature on a CM based ROM, I will see if it could be done as easily in this one too. Sure, Give it a try and let me know what you feel. Great suggestion by the way. Let me know if you have more.

Had a bit of trouble getting it to download but now that I'm trying to install it's getting stuck on 0.0% install saying to be patient. Could my download be the problem or is it the installer? Full SD wipe and format. Phone getting hot after 15 mins of no progress. Tried 3 times no success.

no wipe needed? ( I`am on miuiandroid)
I have tested a couple of MIUI ROMS but this one is the best by far.
The only deal breaker for me is that it sadly lacks the Swedish language.
The ROM is fluently without the lag when scrolling through home screens that many of MIUI roms suffer from.
Phone settings are snappy and quick.
The Iphone7 lock screen is a bit buggy in my opinion, it is hard to slide it up and then get rid of it
It would be great if this ROM could be based on Sammy stock so that we could get some of the Sammy features.
Tnx !! job well done !

Sir if you can make the other release based on stock 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 Rom then it would be better & we will get all stock features & apps compatibility without any problem. But on cm base most features are missing & incompatible.
i love new development project and as a matter of fact sir i will be making a video on all the features with this rom and i will post the link very soon...give me 5 days time and hopefully i shall come up with a good video for your rom....downloading now btw
Have a great day sir
Hello,
if you make a 4.3 CM based ROM, i will test it, i don't need fm radio.
Thanks for your work

Besides the GApps and maybe Root is everything ready for 8.X. The GApps will be updated to the Oreo Ones, once Linage is pushing first official Nightlies of 8.X.

Really? That's new... Is the Touch working correctly or is it screwed up? I will take a look on the AROMA Threads to see if that happened to someone else before. But could also be a TWRP Bug...
Thanks for the Feedback!

Didn't realise it could be the twrp issue, can I get the link for davide's twrp or a better one. The touch in twrp is non functional while in Aroma
First impressions
Installed the light patch after wiping the system cache and dalvik. using a different tarp solved the issue regarding the flipped screen and the touch not working.
My few observations after 1 hour of usage :
1. The audio recording doesn't work on the phone( using any recorder), however the camera seems to be recording the sound. The Google voice assistant can't be setup as it can't hear the Ok Google.
2. The scroll cache seems to be a little laggy, maybe it needs some time to settle in.
3. Audio quality seems good, not sure if it's a Placebo effect.
4. The phone does warm up during charging, seems like it could be because of a fresh install. Without the light patch it was almost the same.
5: Google assistant doesnt work with the audio patch applied.

Thanks for Your Feedback. Well I think all lags and warmups will be gone after some Minutes (There are a lot of Progresses running in the Background on a clean start). Besides that are the Mic Problems known on some Devices. The Problem is caused by a lack of Fluence Audio Support. A well working (But Quality lowering) workaround is the Magisk Module called "Android Mic Fix" which does basically just disable Fluence Audio for Applications which are using the Loudspeaker besides the Mic (Calls, Google Assistant).
I would suggest to give it a try if You want to run the Patch anyways. And about the Audio Quality, there is for sure a plus in Quality. Lot of Qualcomm exclusive services besides the highest possible resampling can't be placebo. The Light Audio System (Including Sony Audio Enhancements UI) is also working as intended (Xloud, Clearphase, S-force). I haven't measurement methods available, but I'm using high Fidelity Audio Equipment to test the differences and My Hearing is good as it should be for a 24 Years old Guy. Trust in a Nerd lol
Just to share some Infos with You. Hope it wasn't to much!

I never used or worked with Zuk Devices, there is a chance that it will work on Stock, but I can't promise that. The Patch is made for 7.1.x & 8.x AOSP based Systems, Problems on Stock which aren't on AOSP happening will not be fixed...

Thank you so much for this wonderful patch. I have installed the mic fix as well, the audio recording works well. Would there be any app for the configuration of Light Audio System, like changing the equalizer etc?

Yeah, the Light Audio Option adds Xperia XZ Premium Libraries which will be enabled and loaded by the Xperia Audio Enhancements App. That App is linked as Equalizer on all Music Players like Spotify, Play Music and all default audio Players from ROMs. It does also contain Headphone Profiles and Enhancements, all added on top of the already existing optimizations of the Light Patch...
Think that explains it pretty well. Let Me know how You like it!

Please read the installation instructions more carefully. Oreo firmware bootloader and modem is a must.
You can find the collection along with the guide in this xda thread.
I'm sometimes having crackling sound when listening to music
Turn off 'ok google now' functionality in google app settings. If you have troubles finding it you can as well go to settings>apps, find app called 'google' and disable microphone permission.
Does this rom support VoLTE?
No. And it likely won't in the near future. Samsung's exynos VoLTE implementation is proprietary and non-standard. It is not possible on AOSP based roms for the time being.
I have weird issues with camera (wrong resolution, issues with flash etc.)
Тhis could very well be an issue with the included camera app. Try a third party camera app.
My device fails to encrypt
1. You were likely using older TWRP, update to the latest version
2. Backup your data somewhere (external sd, pc...)
3. In TWRP Advanced -> Format data.
My hardware keys light up whenever I touch the screen
Navigate to Settings->System->Buttons->Backlight and tick 'Illuminate buttons only when pressed'. You might want to reduce time on the scaler to 1 second, too.
How to switch to full screen gestures
1. Navigate to Settings->System->Buttons->Backlight and tick 'Enable on-screen nav bar'.
2. Navigate to Settings->System->Gestures->System navigation and tick 'Gesture navigation'.
I need help with google camera
Please see this xda post.
LineageOS 18.1 is the last official version of LineageOS. The contents of this post have been moved to a new xda thread.

Here's the bugs that appeared in the ROM,
ModatherM said:
So been using the ROM for whole week, and here's the list of the bugs i faced them on A5 2017, Also same bugs on A7 2017,
• Hotspot not working.
• USB tethering not working.
• Ambient Display cause battery drain
• Phone speakers are cracking lil bit, which cause the sound unclear.
• When you are calling your friends, He can't hear your voice clearly, Even if you recorded a voice you will hear it unclear.
• Sometimes Internet calling (Telegram, Messanger etc...) not working, Both sides can't hear each other.
• Some people reported that GPS not working, But it worked for me well, with Mobile data and WIFI.
• VIPER4ANDROID not working ( Magisk Module ). [ Not so important but just for who care for it ]
• Blacklight are always on, I hope there will be solution soon to make it like TW roms.
• Camera (Front and Rear) need to be improved so much, As it lags with video recording in some third party apps, Also Sometimes it request me to restart the phone due to Camera Driver erorr.
• Huge battery drains, (FIXED them by clean re-flashing the rom).
• Enabling HWC cause some freezes and sometimes refuses to reboot.
Thats all I have found from 1 week of use, Once again thanks @Option58 for your efforts.

Yeah I also use that. But that's not A5/A7 stuff. That's a missing lineage rom feature for all devices, not just ours. And unfortunately it hasn't been ported to Pie yet.
Hi, @Option58
• VIPER4ANDROID not working ( Magisk Module ). [ Not so important but just for who care for it ]
Actually works for me, just acts sometimes with some weird behaviors (requires a reboot to fix it most of the time/disabling audioFX fixed most of the issues for me)
• Some people reported that GPS not working, But it worked for me well, with Mobile data and WIFI.
Same here, works well.
• Enabling HWC cause some freezes and sometimes refuses to reboot.
Same here.
• Huge battery drains.
Clearly what had to be expected on an unoptimized rom. I checked on kernel Adiutor, cpu clock is always at maximum, probably not normal (honestly idk if it causes battery drain). Otherwise battery life is decent when phone is on agressive doze or plane mode (less than 1% in 10h)
Thank you for the work done, it's a huge step forward to a stable rom with pie.

About VIPER4ANDROID can you tell me how you made it work please? ( I have Audio modification library installed ). [ Never mind it worked, Didn't notice that AudioFX was on, after disabling it, V4A worked. ]
About Huge battery drains, i didn't face that issue again after i cleared flash the rom as i mentioned in my list, as before i was going from 100% to 15% in two hours but after reflashing it take around 10hrs on battery and 4hrs screen on time and by comparing that to STOCK ROM (As Hades can survive till 15hrs on battery and 7hrs screen on) it's not bad, so i suggest everyone facing battery drain to re-flash and turn off Ambient Display and he will get stock rom battery life (not hades).

I hear a lot of people experiencing the following bugs:

- Serious battery drain
- Sound crackling
Yet I don't seem to have one of them. How could that be? Does it depend on the region where you bought the phone or so?

No....depends on usage I suppose. However, u barely used it one day and battery drain is horrendous even with Naptime.
Also, can't seem to find an option to prevent accidental screen touches. Put it in my pocket and got it out 5 minutes later and I had browsers open, apps open, dialler ready to call someone, etc

In the display settings, near the end you have "Prevent accidental wake-up". Should fix it
Here is a few complementary bugs:
- Google phone bubble doesn't work (overlay is enabled), and you will only be able to hear/speak when the phone app is on the foreground.
- traffic monitor doesn't work
- GPS won't work, those who say it's working are probably using Wifi and BT locations services
- fast charging is not working, or at least there is no indicator
Overall the ROM feels pretty reactive and fast.
Tested it on a520f but I couldn't get the nfc to work(full wipe and flash tested using a mifare classic 1k card and nfc tools and mifare classic tools)

Yes Magisk will root fine. If SuperSU works...leave it. It should be fine.
Battery drain is difficult to fix at the moment. I've tried naptime and greenify, but these are relatively ineffective

What a surprise! I had to fix a Tucana of a friend this weekend, had told him there wasn't much going on for the device, but to experiment running 3rd party ROMs for a while (reluctantly he'd rather stay on MIUI with a locked bootloader).
Since the bootloader was unlocked and you guys had posted this but 2 days ago I decided to give it a spin momentarily, so these are my thoughts:
- Very nice out of the box I must say, went with the version that has GApps built in already (and thank god for that MEGA mirror, Plink wasn't cooperative).
- Installation procedure following the instructions was uneventful, rather confused about needing to format the data partition 2 times, but OK.
- The recovery though... damn, if at all possible perhaps you could try building or re-building any version of it moving forward. The current build of OrangeFox, while functional, does things on the background that I wasn't keen on, and for some reason I couldn't find a way to flash images directly through it! For example, after the Magisk app was installed in the OS and the boot image extracted and patched, I rebooted to the recovery to flash it to boot: no dice. The thing kept on thinking it was a ZIP (dafuk?) so I ended up booting directly from a TWRP build (which as opposed to OFox couldn't decrypt data) to flash the magisk patched boot image.
- Thank God for that Monet override of sorts allowing users to choose a basic color accent
- I didn't see any way to revert from the gesture based navigation to the traditional buttons, is it supported? (just curious, providing an alternative would be nice)
Now for bugs or unusual behaviors:
- Something odd was happening at the beginning in the battery section of settings, look at the following screenshot for more info (no logs, sorry, and it works as expected now, that was more or less right after installation):
Spoiler: Screenshot
- At least some WiFi icons for the statusbar need revisiting, the different stages don't match, look at Xperia's for example:
Spoiler: Screenshot
- The default home app doesn't seem to have permission to display dots over app icons by default from notifications. I wonder if it is at all possible to enable it out of the box, in other devices I've seen some bizarre defaults that leads me to believe it may not be (like... the camera app not having the Camera and Mic permissions enabled, how the hell is it supposed to work otherwise?! )
Spoiler: Screenshot
- I had chosen a different shape for the icons, Teardrop, however after configuring the home screen and drawer through its setting it was reverted back to the default round shape. Perhaps it's not worth looking into since after a reboot of the device my chosen one was applied.
- It was in Magisk and due to the nature of it I couldn't capture a screenshot, but the authentication through fingerprint dialog had the fingerprint icon displayed lower than it should have been. The light and the sensor itself was somewhere half-way up that icon. I wonder if it's app specific or the authentication dialog is baked into the OS and would need to be tweaked, I'm just mentioning it just in case
- The camera app as it is pinned in the lower row of icons of the home screen doesn't work, it may refer to some other package that is not installed because tapping over it by default a toast message appears indicating the app is not installed. Opening it through the drawer worked as expected.
Talking of which... damn that's some barebones app, there's not even an option to choose which camera sensor you want to take the picture from, much less other advanced options. I'd think about replacing it with something more functional. LieageOS' Apperture should be better while still being basic.
Also, I think even in the GApps package having a basic gallery app besides Google's Photos would be nice, something lightweight perhaps, like QuickPic or its mod: https://github.com/WSTxda/QP-Gallery-Releases
I haven't tested the vanilla version of the ROM, but the GApps one was OK, it's nice to see new things coming for Tucana users and I was pleased to see the dialer not being Google's, don't get me wrong, Google's is very nice, but the lack of an option to record a phone call is a pity.

- At least some WiFi icons for the statusbar need revisiting, the different stages don't match, look at Xperia's for example:

- The default home app doesn't seem to have permission to display dots over app icons by default from notifications. I wonder if it is at all possible to enable it out of the box, in other devices I've seen some bizarre defaults that leads me to believe it may not be (like... the camera app not having the Camera and Mic permissions enabled, how the hell is it supposed to work otherwise?! )

Thanx for the report.
True, tucana community is rather small and at the moment there are only two active developers for that device. But most of the things is happening on Telegram these days (links are given in the OP).
As I'm not the developer, just the tester, I can refer to only some of the issues you have mentioned (maybe the dev will elaborate later).
Actually second Data format is not obligatory, not harmful though but I'll probably remove it from the guide.
I'm pretty sure there is a way to flash .img files in OrangeFox... but I don't have tucana with me right now to check. Anyway, to install Magisk you can simply flash it in recovery. I realize it's not the recommended method now, but in case of tucana it's absolutely fine, working without any issue.
Navigation types should be found in Settings > System > Gestures.
As for permission, I think it's new Google policy introduced in Android 13. They limit permissions as much as possible and even those really needed aren't granted automatically. Actually things involved with privacy are getting more and more difficult with every Android release, not only for users, but for the app developers as well...
Stock camera app is very simple indeed, I think it's a conscious choice, but you can always find good alternatives supporting other lenses. There are good-working GCams with polished XML configs, there are also MIUI Camera ports, but much less perfect. If you have Telegram account, you can find more about camera things here:
Camera group: @minote10photography
APK channel: @minote10apk
XML channel: @minote10xml
Fingerprint dialog mismatch is a known issue and it's present on other devices as well. Probably fixable, we'll see. There are some other minor glitches like those you mentioned, hopefully they will be adressed in the next releases.
Generally the ROM is well done, allowing tucana get a second breath
Not a problem! I testdrove it for a bit and thought it would be good to report back so it keeps getting better, like you said, it seems the Tucana community isn't very engaged since many moved on to a different device. Even the one of my friend had its battery already capable to hold only 52% of what it could at the beginning

I followed it to the letter, since the phone wasn't mine and I just wanted to toy with it for a bit, but perhaps formatting data once (before booting into the system maybe?) is enough.

For the life of me, I wasn't able to do it on the current OrangeFox release for Tucana (11.1_3?), in other devices yes, there are ways to directly flash raw data to partitions, but not here. In any case, after the boot image is patched it could also be flashed via `fastboot`; I'm not a fan of recovery flashing Magisk to be honest, if at all possible I'd like all modifications to be systemlessly in my devices.

That's what I thought, but I've never built an Android distribution before, for me the default state should be consistent, sane, and functional; for me it's the whole experience what makes or breaks a product, something polished grows on me, means attention to detail.
For example, the camera app in some distros that goes without camera and mic permissions by default, seriously guys... what the hell, I *really* dislike having to spend serious time after the first boot to check and set basic things like that. I get the privacy argument, but surely everyone expects the camera app to just show pictures after tapping on it going with the example.
And if it can't be done, well... more patched to Android that are needed to make it so haha, many inbox apps ship with some permissions enabled by default.

I hope it wasn't a conscious decision and it's something that was kind of the default with the current base of the ROM and still wasn't changed, the one that's shipped right now doesn't do anybody any favors. I know there are alternatives, even in the Play Store there are plenty of camera apps, but it's the same as before: sane defaults. This device, for example, has what, 3 sensors + the macro one? And the default app uses just one of them without possibility of choosing? It may not be a big deal for many perhaps, but I think it's big enough for others to look somewhere else.

¡Oh! So it's a known issue an happens in other devices too? Damn... perhaps something to do with the layout? Since I was using the default gesture navigation the height of the button navigation bar wasn't present, maybe that's the thing that needs to be taken into account.
And I completely agree! Granted I didn't use the phone with OctaviOS that much (some 3 hours perhaps), but it was a pleasant experience, I think it can only get better from here with some dedication so congrats for all involved!
As for Telegram, I do use it, but I don't really have a Tucana so those groups aren't useful to me (I wouldn't be able to provide feedback on anything or try stuff) and since my friend wanted pure MIUI (not even Xiaomi.eu's) with a locked bootloader won't be of any help either hahaha but I wish Tucana users the best
Hi,
great rom, my MI 10 feels like a new modern phone now, thank you very much for development!
Everything works fine, except...
- camera crashed -> installed gcam port, not a problem any more...
- bluetooth volume is far too low, PLEASE tell me how to fix this issue. Tried development setting, but volume is still far too low. Any idea?
Thank's!
...seems to be an Apple Airphone problem, JBL box works fine...

Camera has always been a problem on this device for custom ROMs, but there are good GCam alternatives. You can also try to install MIUI Camera port called ANX, but there are some flaws
Thank you for this really very successful ROM. So far I haven't noticed any problems, except the camera which has problems on every custom rom with this smartphone! The interface is fast, and battery life is good.
Hi, thanks for this great ROM. Is UDFPS working for you ? Sadly it's not for me.

It should work without AoD enabled, with AoD it struggles

Yes it is, but I don't want to use AoD.
Great OS, is there a setting for gesture control that allows swiping in the top half of the Phone in order to use in App functions such as opening the menu instead of only getting backwards?

Not in the system, but you can control gestures bar height with AOSP Mods LSPosed module

Are there any new bugs compared to previous builds based on A12 ? Are Face unlocking, NFC, otg AOD, fingerprint, VOLTE, quick charge 18w working?

I did not have any particular bugs to note. Fast charging works up to 30W, fingerprint and face unlock works, NFC too, VOLTE too, OTG too, and AOD too.
1.What is latest build security patch date?
2. Is google pay working?
3. Is OTA supported? And when doing update apps settings are not changed?
4. Any bugs?
