Music apps that work with Android Auto - Huawei P30 Pro Questions & Answers

My old phone was a Sony Xperia, and the Sony music app worked great with Android Auto. I've installed the Sony music app on my P30 Pro, but neither it nor the Huawei app show up as selections in the music section of Android Auto. Anyone have a solution?

But can those play Flac and DSD files stored on the device through Android Auto? Streaming apps do work fine for me.

PowerAmp works with AA - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maxmpz.audioplayer

Rocket Player works very well

For video, MOBO Player and DICE Player are very good. DICE Player indeed uses hw acceleration so it's supposed to be more battery friendly.

[Q] LG Music and the new Music

Since I got gingerbread they put a new music app with a picture of headphones on my phone. But they also kept the old music app but changed the name to LG Music.
Why do I need both? What is the difference of the new music besides looking different?
Is it safe to delete the LG (old) music?

the problem is choice
They did that to give you a choice. You can delete both of them if you like if you've found a better one.
The other app is Google Music. It's a cloud music player, but you can also play files from your SD.
I find it way better than LG Music.
If you want to remove it: you can always reinstall it from market. (Google Music )

[Q] Music player query.

Hi guys,
Wondered if you could help in suggesting a good music player besides the standard MIUI one, (I'm on an MIUI rom), that plays almost everything especially music which has been ripped of YouTube into a MP3 format via an unnamed YouTube rip app. MIUI music player thinks they are all videos but on other roms with galaxy s standard music player recognizes them as music so makes it much easier to play them all.

Try doubletwist or poweramp, google play music should work too.
I like player pro.. mostly because of its feature of selecting the music folders.. only files in the folders you have selected will be shown in the music library

[Q] "throw" google play music?

Hi guys,
First of all, loving my Z3c.
but I'm wondering if there's a way to "throw" music to my DLNA home theatre system? or is there a way to send all audio out to home theatre?
for now I'm just screen mirroring to my Sony smart TV, but its not ideal.
I'm aware you can "throw" to speakers using the walkman app, but I prefer play music.
any help would be appreciated.
Had the same issue, it's due to the way Google caches your music.
Try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bubblesoft.android.bubbleupnp from play store
It works perfectly for me
Cheers

This will let my throw only audio?
Audio or video, depending on the app you're casting from. It works really well with Google Play Music but you can also cast from YouTube, Songza, Plex, and others.

Deezer has a beautiful user experience when "casting" to the Chromecast in your TV.

[Q] Non-streaming music app

Google play music has been a letdown being a "locker" and I don't use Spotify or Pandora. SoundCloud is supposed to be a partner but they haven't updated their app yet... I currently use PlayerPro, are there any other music apps compatible that will play music stored on my phone? Ideally supporting POPM and ReplayGain ID3 tags

You can use Google play music to play stuff on your phone.
If the music you want is already uploaded to Google music, just download it to your phone from the google music app and it will play offline

Have been doing this to an extent, but GPM is just not good enough. I already put a lot of time in to my collection and GPM is requiring even more effort. It also likes playing my ringtone/notification oggs. Very annoying.
The whole idea of this thread is to not use GPM.
