I am here to share my story as to how I unlocked my asus tf701. I was one of few unlucky people that after installing the unlocking app I kept on getting the connection error. After a whole week of communicating and waiting I finally. I ended up using the vip.asus.com service.
After filling this form:
https://vip.asus.com/VIP2/Services/QuestionForm?lang=en-us#
And telling them that I want to unlock and sending an screenshot of my "about" screen that had both device serial number and mac addresses they updated their servers and I was able to unlock my tf701.
The whole thing took about 48 hours for me. The two weeks that I wasted was due to contacting asus throught support.asus.com and service.asus.com
In my experience I was very honest with vip.asus.com people that I want to unlock and they were more than willing to help me.
Nice. How did you stumble across the vip.asus.com link?

I thought everyone was a vip member - first thing I do when I buy an asus device is register it on their vip site. It is linked from their main support site.

Hi all, so i just got a brand new, and i'm willing to root it, but the website isn't up, and i couldn't find any option for it.
Any tip on how to do it? I'm without options, rooting will be perfect.

Use DC Unlocker. 4 Euro, and you will get your code in less than 5 minutes
BTW, imei changing is illegal. So nobody gonna help you on that here i guess. Not sure why you want to do it anyway

Which country? Try UK support. For example, Russian support is completely useless and just sends you steps how to do it on non-functional site.
UK support sent me the code on the next day (on may 12).

Make sure to provide a decent reason - I kinda lied about not using my new phone, but reality is i'd really sell it if I could not unlock it and get rid of ads.
I guess, simply saying you want adaway installed and that needs root shall be enough. Last part skips voids-warranty-are-you-sure? exchange.
A friend of mine called UK support on viber on may 10th, but ended up with same uk support mail exchage asking him for details, warning about risks and got his code a day later than me I believe.
He told them he wanted to flash clean firmware or something like that... be creative.
My ticket from https://consumer.huawei.com/uk/contact-us/ (I forced it to /uk/ from my real country)

Content:I bought P20 pro few weeks ago and I desperately want to unlock my bootloader, but unlock link is 404/dead for ages now.One of the reasons for actually buying Huawei phone was the information that bootloader unlock is actually easy - I'm sick and tired of ads and I want root/adaway installed asap + I want google dialer.... It sucks to be walking around with my old Xiaomi mi6 and not a new shiny Huawei. Please let me know, how can I get an unlock code in any other way. Serial xxxxxxxxxx, product ID xxxxxx, IMEI xxxx/xxx. I know the risks etc and I'm sure I want to unlock my bootloader.

Dear Name,
Thank you for contacting Huawei Customer Care and the provided details.
We have now created a request for you in order to receive the bootloader code. As soon as we receive it, we will forward it to you.
Thank you for your patience and please let us know if you have any other questions.
May 12:
Dear Name,
Thank you for your patience.
I have received the necessary code you need to use in order to root your device.
The code is: my-code-here
As explained in our previous e-mails, please note that using the bootloader code and rooting the device will void the warranty.
I trust this information is of assistance. In a couple of hours, you might receive a survey regarding the experience you have had with Huawei Customer Care. We would appreciate your feedback. Should you have any further queries, please feel free to get back to us anytime.
I wish you a wonderful day!

Don't bother your self, I've tried dc-unlocker a few days ago, and it ended not supporting my Huawei P20 Lite, and their support sucks, I've seen some posts on Reddit from people who contacted Huawei's support on twitter, and they positively responded with the code, try your chances.

Just follow their online howto links and if needed improvise (docs are maybe little outdated)
Is there any method to get unlock code on Linux? All of the mentioned applications not working on Linux (tried with Wine). Maybe there are some cloud solutions that generate unlock code online?

You can try the DC Unlocker through a Virtual Machine, you better try it on a Windows 7.
@update, their technical support ( the contact form on the huawei's website ) can get your bootloader unlocking code, the only issue is that it takes a few days, til you receive it.

In the good, old days it was just a matter of submitting info like model, device id, imei, e-mail address via an on-line form to Huawei - hence not depending on the PC and its OS
You can try the app (Playstore tells me not available in my country)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dc.huaweibootloadercodes
Hi all,
Back when the P20 Pro was released and Huawei was still offering codes, I obtained one.
However I cannot for the life of me remember what I did with it, now a recent flash (my fault) of a service firmware, relocked my bootloader.
Do you think Huawei will give me my code again? Seeing as they aren't actually unlocking a new device or one out of the grace period back in July?
Who would be best to contact to check?
UK based.
I doubt that. But anyway, Huawei is doomed and so i suggest you wait. Maybe they will reopen bootloader unlocking

I'm not trying to obtain a bootloader code for the first time.
Simply trying to have the same one they have provided again.
Telling me to get a new phone isn't helping pal

If they replaced your motherboard then they changed the IMEI too, which means you need a new bootloader unlock
---------- Post added at 06:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:04 AM ----------
Ok so, i highly doubt they will give you the unlock code for your phone since they don't provide bootloader unlock codes, but you can give it a try using Hicare

I did not say I sent my device to them? I said I couldn't find the unlock code they sent me??
You're making things up.
Please don't worry about replying. This thread already looks mental.
I'm in the same boat. I'm so sure I saved it somewhere, but just can't find it now.
And what the heck is The Restless Soul on about? He's either on drugs or having a stroke, it's really weird.

So the unlock code depends on your IMEI, serial and product ID right - so it doesn't matter if the OS is upgraded?
I have my unlock code from March 2018 when I got the phone.

That's correct.
However if you rebranded by funky Huawei then your code will have altered and you won't be able to reuse it..
If you didn't, or you used the guide I worked on then you'll be fine..
Can I ask, how did you obtain the code? What method of delivery did they use?? I've checked every email I own and found nothing..
So it must have come up on screen during the unlock process, im annoyed at myself for not making a note, I didn't imagine I'd ever need it again..
That being said, this is my data which I obtained from Huawei and by law in entitled to a copy of it.
So they are obligated to assist.

There did use to be a website which would generate the boot codes for around 10EUR I think?

I really wish you'd done some reading before doing that.
There isn't a working MSM tool for the 10 pro.
There's a firehose hack but no one has ever done it.
Seeing as you've opened your device you've now lost warranty, so your only other option is to pay for the MSM tool.

Well there's another thread talking about opening up the device for this very reason, you may want to take a look at that, although the method seems extremely difficult for an average user.
On top of that there are online services that will let you use MSM for a fee.
If you do use these, use a keylogger and pinch their login details
