Hello guys ! I was just thinking this mhl(hdmi tv out) thing is a matter of hardware or software ?
So i am going to buy a mhl adaptor to prove it to my Galaxy S, do you think is going to work ?
Thank you Johnny !
MHL is dependent also.... n SGS not supporting it
i'm asking for i9305, the US version with 2GB ram.
currently im using the i9300 exynos one, and it certainly do not have mhl/hdmi working.
if the i9305 able to work on aosp roms then i want to make a switch
sorry no only touchwiz samsung roms. even with a samsung rom I have read on this forum that using a third party launcher such as nova could disable mhl. aosp = no mhl for sure

thank you for your confirmation.
its strange, because i know that i9300 using exynos, so hdmi dont work.
the xperia s if run aosp the mhl port works. so i was thinking its the exynos problem.
too bad i9305 using dual core non exynos doesnt work as well.
Samsung galaxy s 111 hml is different than standard hml. the port uses 11 pins where standard uses 5. because of this only Samsung mhl adaptors are compatible. there may be a few companies now that make similar compatible adaptors for less but initially when the phone was released. Samsung made a killing on their adaptors due to their unique mhl port.
The 19305 does use the same exynos quad core processor as the i9300. but it has 2 gb ram instead of 1. also it is lte capable whereas 19300 has HSPA+
there are cheap adapters on ebay which convert 11pins to 5 pins standart , and you can use your old MHL cable.
already tested and works perfect!!!
has anyone tried MHL feature on SP, and confirmed if it's working on rooted roms as well? if someone was successful, what cable brand was used or it has to be some proprietary sony cable? I got a generic one for S3 bought from DX, tried it on a rooted rom and it's not working so I'm just curious what it your experienced folks.

I looked into this briefly a month or so ago.
http://blog.clove.co.uk/2013/03/28/which-mhl-cable-should-i-buy/
Anyway I think we need to use the old 5 pin adaptor, from the s3 onwards Samsung use a proprietory 11 pin one that's incompatible with our device.
works for me.. bought for my samsung S2...
Bought an S2 MHL adapter..Works very fine with my SP...
ok guys, thanks for your replies. it seems that we need that older adapter, like the one for S2.

Bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 to mini HDMI adapter but i did not think that it would not fit (the S3 adapter has a litle metal thingy that prevents it from going in the SP i bumped that down and it fit well.)
The thing is that i dont have a Mini HDMI to HDMI cable
Hey, just wondering if anyone knew whether the S4 active was exactly the same as the S4 (no need for external power, full 60fps, 1080p) when it comes to the MHL 2.0? The details on samsungs website simply say MHL is available where as it mentions the S4 is compatible. I've tested my S4A with MHL 1.0 and it's extremely choppy when it comes to games.
UPDATE: Samsungs site says it is compatible, but it's also compatible with SIII ect but still requires power.
If anyone has tried let us know your results. Thanks!
It seems the nexus 6 with lollipop is only compatible with chromecast. I thought miracast would work with any devixe running android 4.2 or higher. However, my new nexus 6 does not work with the microsoft wireless display adapter. This dongle did work with a galaxy s4.
So any chance somekne can clarify and/or help get miracast working with android 5.0 on a nexus 6?
Thanks

Miracast is not supported.
I have working Miracast with my GS3 running CM12 (pretty much pure Lollipop at the moment).
You have to enable the Wireless Display option in the Cast menu in order to see Miracast devices.
Is this option absent from the Nexus 6?
Nope. It has the cast screen option, but nithing else. And it does not recognize miracast devices. I'm hoping a developer can help enable this feature. Kind of crappy for google to force chromecast use only.
It seems Nexus 6 does not support miracast.
