I have two weeks with this phone a moto g6 and every day I get 5:30 hours of active screen. Is this right?
I had a galaxy j7 and after two years of use the battery lasted the same than my actual moto g6

I usually get 26-30hrs of SoT with the G6 Play. You should get roughly half of that since you have 4 more cores than I do. I had the J7 Perx (J727p) before this, and I got about 12-14hrs SoT on that.
Some back of the napkin math gives me this.
My 4000mah vs your 3100mah gives me %22.5 more battery.
So, I find %77.5 of my total SoT in order to match your battery capacity, which gives me 20.15hrs. (I used 26hrs as the base, since that's my low end.)
Now I divide by 2, because you have 2x more cores than I do. And I'm left with 10.075hrs of SoT.
I think you should get somewhere between 12-14hrs based on this. Power consumption doesn't scale linearly with core count, which is why I placed my estimate higher than 10.075hrs.
Here's some huge power hogs that you might want to check on. Turning these off or removing them entirely will greatly improve your battery life.
*WiFi and Bluetooth scanning.
*Facebook, Instagram, or social media apps in general.
*Digital well being.
*Google sync.
*Location services.
*NFC.
*Adaptive battery & battery saver. (Yeah, it sounds crazy but turning these off will actually improve your battery life.)
These last 2 are found in the developer options near the bottom.
*Tethering hardware acceleration.
*Mobile data always on.
I hope this helps you out. Our chipsets are in the same family, so my estimates shouldn't be very far off. As they say, the proof is in the pudding, so here's a screen shot.
I'm not sure what spaceminer is doing but it's not typical. I have both phones. Moto g6 gets 6-7 hrs OST, Moto g6 play is 7-8 hrs.

So I've used Moto Maker at least 10 times now and go to checkout(Pure Edition) but I haven't been able to pull the trigger. Currently use OnePlus as my daily driver but I also have a G3.
Neither of those devices are really what's holding me back.. It's the N6 that's supposedly going to be released this Wednesday for TMO. I used a Note 3 for almost a year and I think that was pretty much the size limit I could handle. Mostly cuz the phone is always in my front jeans pocket and at times the Note was a little uncomfortable.
I think what's holding me back is the X's smaller battery. On my OPO I average daily between 3-4sot with about 17 hours off charger and still have plenty to spare when I plug it in.
Anyone have any thoughts that might help? I realize the X 2013 was arguably the best phone off the year.. Do you think this years X can also achieve that status? Thanks!
Battery life on the X is a non-issue. I average 6 hours SOT without even trying, and if I let it go, I usually have at least 20% left at bedtime. If I do a lot of gaming I'll get 4hrs SOT. My buddy has an X too and he gets comparable battery life.
And yeah, I definitely think that all things considered, the X is easily the best phone to come out this year. It's nothing short of amazing.

Thanks for the input.. I never game on my phones other than maybe a few minutes playing clash of clans..I mostly browse g+, Facebook and watch YouTube vids so nothing really to draining on the battery
I am using a Moto X 2013 Dev Edition on T-Mobile, this particular unit I got from Moto Care after my initial one broke. It feels like it gets much worse battery life than the first. I did not unlock or root this one yet. I'm on the latest update with pretty good LTE/4G coverage and the phone completely discharges from full to 5% in less than 4.5 hours while only browsing! It then recharges from 5% to 87% in less than 1.5 hours, this seems unusually fast and led me to believe that the battery is faulty. What do you think?
Check what is using battery the most. You can check it in battery settings. Moreover I would encourage you to install one of the apps like Better Battery Stats (you need root) or Gsam Battery Monitor to see which app prevents your phone from going to sleep.

Um... Your screen was on that whole time mostly.
That's your issue. ?
Yes I know it was, I was browsing for 4.5 hours XD
But I feel that's a short time for the phone to completely discharge.
I felt like my first Moto X retail unit did much better, maybe this one is refurbished and the battery is worn already?
Thoughts?

Have you tried to fully discharge and recharge it while turned off?
I did this and now my Battery is nice again! About 24 hours with about 3 hours SOT! Wifi + Location always on, 1 hour of recording (so not Deep sleep), 4G and a little Spotify streaming via Network!
ahhh and i deinstalled Switch Widget Pro and some other Apps because they kept my X from sleeping! :good:
Good luck!
I say 4,5 hours of screen on time while surfing is great for the x, i don't see the problem here
It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Samsung Galaxy Note5 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
SOT is usually 1 hour 23 minutes at 50%. With the Display brightness a little less than half.
The biggest culprit is Android OS stay awake time is always high.
Man I've been more than impressed by my SOT of the Note 5 compared to my crappy old Nexus 6. I can get 4-5 hours on here vs the 3 hours max I got on the N6. Blows me away. So much better phone than that was too.
I normally see about 3hrs on nougat where as MM I usually got closer to 4 hours which is a bummer but still reasonable. Main issue is the screen off battery drain on nougat. Seems to want to drain 8-10% per hour no matter what I'm doing most days.
It's ridiculous. I've drained my new note 5 in 2 hours SOT just browsing Web and reading this forum. I've got 4-5 hours of browsing with my old note 2. That's just crazy low. Xiaomi MI max 2 can easily give you 8 hours SOT. Thinking of exchange already :/
I don't understand how it is possible that every big review on the Internet that I found claims it is more than 8 or 10 hours of Web browsing possible on note 5! How can it be true? Some tests on YouTube shows there is only 4 hours from 100 to 0 without heavy cpu and network utilisation and just screen on...
I consider myself as a Power user. I Only get 2:30 hours no matter the screen resolution, 1080P or 2K. Nougat or Marshmallow doesn't matter. But I'm OK with that, I have a lot of apps and 3 Gmail accounts so I'm getting notifications all day long.
Oh man flashing the n fuel xl Rom was probably the best thing I've done with my note 5. Sot is still lingering around 3 hours or less but stand by time has literally doubled. Now when the screen is off, the phone actually chills out and doesn't burn up battery.
Went from 12-13 hours to 25-26 hours with my normal usage.
new note 5 user here
after reading many of your comment guys, i feel really lucky
i had a note 2 for more than 4 years (still have it) and with my average use i usually get 3.5-4 hours of screen time on
i just bought a note 5 like a week ago and i'm getting more than 6 hours of screen time on
i use the powersaving mode on "mid" and i usually dont need more than a low brightness ... i dont use my phone for games that much cuz i have a ps4 for that ... usually use it for social media and these stuff
i know its very good only bcuz i just got it but with my experience on the note 2 i will try not to drain the battery life and keep it good
note is just the best there is

Oh can you show me a link to the Rom? I am not a heavy user so about 2h sot is fine for me. However I need my phone to be able to last longer while in Standby. I get only 11hr of the phone, including 2hr sot now.
My note 5 battery is dropping >10% per hour with light use. SOT guesstimate to be about 3 hours. Standby drain is great but not when I start using it. Such battery drain defeats the purpose of a smartphone. I guess Samsung has a reason to design the phone with irreplaceable battery. Ordered the S8+ as replacement.
I was studying my battery life/SOT today. I managed to take some screen shots when my phone was around 8%. I'll upload them a little later when my phone is charged up. I let it drain all the way to try and calibrate it. I notice it shut off today at 2%. Around 8% I noticed my screen on time was over 5 hours or higher. Can't recall now the exact number but it seemed unusually high. I think I got around 10 hours of battery life. Once I post screen shots later can someone tell me if they seem accurate and if I get good battery life since I just upgraded to Nougat?

True. Irrespective of MM/Nougat, there is not much we can do about SOT. The best case can be just above 4 hrs. I am on PureX ROM of Rajeev. Between FuelXL and PureX, the best part is on Deep sleep. When the screen is off, the power consumption is close to Zero. The only reason appears to be that both the ROMs are heavily debloated. Any further major improvement to battery life of Note 5 can be only with Oreo ROM. In my Oneplus, i flashed custom Oreo ROM and the battery life is dramatically extended. So, lets wait and pray for Oreo form Note 5.
So everyone on stock N gets around 3-3.30hrs of sot. Felt relieved to read becoz i was worried and thought mayb my phones battery has loosen its capacity.
Btw is there any app that can tell us exact wear level of the battery?? I tried googling some apps but none gave me the exact info that I needed.
I thought my battery was still bad even after changing it but I'm getting well over 3 hours of screen time so it looks like I'm all good for now
I have 4.5-6 hours SOT every day. I'm on stock N, GPS, wifi, sync and lte on all the time. However, every now and then I make a cache reset in recovery, always after a new app installation. Guess my system is quite clean. Battery life is awesome om this device.

Before I sold my Note 5, estimated the battery wear with AccuBattery.
I recommend getting LG V20, its a great upgrade to the Note 5.

No way you're getting 4.5-6
I'll update the OP once I got my first battery stats.
Here is the first charge. Regular S9 what do you guys think? Mixed use between data and WiFi
I hope we are not getting screwed compared to the plus model. We will have to see and wait

(Copied from another thread) S9 Exynos here.
Second full day (after a half day when I got it) and it's been pretty horrible. I expected it to be average or not great for the first couple days, but this is nuts.
I've got everything on - location, sync, AOD, Bixby, etc - and am losing about 5% per hour with the screen off. Ending the day on 15% with only an hour or two of SOT.
Will be keeping a spreadsheet log of it, including what services are on and how I've used it, so will report back. Hope it improves naturally with everything on though. Reception is also surprisingly average; in the bathroom at work my Pixel 1 had decent enough reception to load videos, but my S9 seems to struggle to even load images. Pixel 1 had 3G in an underground pub, but my S9 couldn't get any data at all.
First full day (Snapdragon)
Haven't actually charged to 100% (except the first charge) and recorded stats. I'll have to do that and see.
But the first night after setting up my phone, during 8 hours of non-use, my battery level only dropped 4%. The next night, with AOD on, it dropped only 11% during 8 hours. Pretty happy with standby battery performance.

Is there already a mod that improves the battery life?

My only suggestion is to make sure you have the display auto-adjust and to make sure nothing is running explicitly in the background all day.
Turn off Wi-fi, Bluetooth, NFC when you aren't using them.
2days turn on time with 5hrs SoT!!
Awesome.
You guys are posting some pretty decent numbers, considering all the negative coverage. 6hrs of SOT is pretty respectable and with my usage patterns it will last more than a day
Exynos S9
Used for 1 week
Disabled Bixby, Facebook
WQHD
Power saving mode off
AOD off
Max SOT 3.5 hours
3 times factory reset still no luck
Should I send my phone back to SAMSUNG for replacement?
I had a great experience with a Moto G5 Plus so when I needed a new phone I bought a Moto G6 (Amazon Edition) with 4GB Ram and 64GB storage. I've had the G6 2 days and I'm starting to wonder if I got a unit with a bad battery. I unplugged my phone this morning and without even turning on the screen I was at 95% 20 min later. While Playing Clash Royale the battery will drain 1% every 30-45 seconds and it's not a demanding game so it doesn't seem right, I expected more from a brand new phone. Does anyone else have any experience with this phone and is the battery that bad?
I am in the process of returning this phone to Amazon and don't know if I should get another G6 hoping I just got a bad unit or get something else. I like everything about the phone so far except the miserable battery life.
Search youtube videos on G6 gaming and you'll get a better idea. The reviews seem mixed, gsmarena tests show subpar battery life , others seem to show that that its about average. Maybe you've installed some apps that drain the battery very quickly.

It's the Amazon Edition but according to the battery usage the Amazon apps don't use any battery but anytime the screen is on I'm using a little more than 1% battery per minute and that seems crazy. At that rate I'd get about 90 min of use. I had the G5 plus and even after 2 years of heavy use it wasn't even close to that
Do a full discharge/charge cycle (use it until battery drops to 5% then charge full) once or twice and see how it performs because battery stats can be inaccurate. I think Motorola also recommends leaving it on the charger for an hour or two after fully charging to improve the battery calibration. But if you've done that and phone still goes flat in 90mins-2hours even after you've done a factory reset without installing any apps, then return or exchange it. There seems to be alot of complaints about the G6 battery life so you're not the only one.

I am on my second G6 now. The first phone was the 64/4gb Amazon "Special Edition" and I returned it and tried the 64/4gb standard version without the Amazon bloatware, hoping that it may have been the preinstalled apps killing the battery. This phone does a bit better but still no where near what I would expect from a new phone. I get about 10 hours between charges now but that's with minimal usage and it even drains 10-15% while I'm sleeping with no screen on time. If it's like this now I'm worried how bad it will be in a year, I will be lucky to get 2 hours from it and that's not acceptable for a $300+ phone. I have had nothing but good experiences with Motorola but they dropped the ball on this one. I'm going to see if I can return it and just get the 64/4gb Moto G5 Plus. It's on sale for $200 and IMO a better phone then the G6 and at $200 it might just be the best price/performance phone out there.

I pull mine off the charger around 6am and can make it until about 10pm before hitting g 15%. I use it for streaming media through the day, moderate texting.
