Samsung M10 -Should i root my new samsung? - Samsung Galaxy M10 Questions & Answers

So, recently i bought a samsung m10, and ive noticed after a while, ads have been popping up? So i want to get rid of them. So i thought it was best to ask the pros here how to do this. (Yeah, to root or not to) should i try to find a way to get rid of the popping ads or just go ahead and root it? Solutions please!

If you are facing ads in the Menu You its because of an app that you have installed . When an Ad Pops up Tap Recent Apps Button and Know what App is displaying Those Ads.Then From Recent apps Hold the App's title bar and Go to App Info. Then Uninstall it

I'm gonna say, here the same thing that #Kingmilindu just said. Yep. Samsung's UI doesn’t bring any adds that is shown from system. I can assume a 100% surity that there is any third party app you’ve installed which is bringing adds. You better follow the steps that #Kingmilindu just described. Or if that app is necessary for you, download an add free version by searching in google. Or use lucky patcher to patch add removal..
And now about rooting.. I'll suggest you not to root.. As this is a new device in the market, Samshng will bring and release updates to this device till 2021. Perhapa this will get the android q next year.. So don’t root it right now if you want to get official OTA updates. ?
Thank you

[Q] How do I delete an app?

Thanks to everyone much more adept than I am and who write clear directions, I've been able to root my NC and load APK files onto it using ADB. But, being the relative newbie that I am, here's my question--how do I REMOVE applications that I either don't want or that don't seem to work once I install them? I don't see an ADB command for that, but maybe I'm missing it. Thanks!
If you haven't already, install LauncherPro. Then to uninstall apps all you have to do is drag the program icon icon that you want to uninstall over to the the trash can on the homescreen. Hold it over the trashcan until the "drop to unisntall" comes up and then release the icon. Done and done.
I installed Launcher Pro, and dragged the icons to the trash can. But the apps still show up in my list of apps (in Launcher Pro) and in the Extras of the NC. I want to get rid of them entirely. Should I use Terminal Emulator to do that? And if so, what's a good apk file for that?
Thanks!

install "uninstaller pro"

If you follow my instructions carefully it will uninstall the app. You have to hold the icon over the trashcan until the dialog pops up. Then release.

adw also does this. just as a note.
Additionally, using task killer, open the program, and then open ATK. long press on the app in the list, and select "details/force stop". There's an option to uninstall the app from that list.

I thought I had replied that I had realized I hadn't followed your instructions to the letter but that on re-reading, I recognized you had given me the answer. (I also clicked on thanks). Apparently the "quick reply" didn't get the job done. Chalk it up to my inexperience.
Everybody should be using Titanium Backup. It is probably the single most useful app I have.
You can uninstall, "Freeze", and back up. Its one of the few apps I've paid for and its worth it. The free version is fine too.

[Q] Unable to uninstall new attentive phone app

I have a tmous hd7 running 7712. HTC recently put out an attentive phone app that integrates into the settings menu of the hd7. Once the app finishes downloading, it disappears from the app list and a new settings category called attentive phone is created. Is there any way to remove the integrated app once installed? Long pressing the setting does not work.
Why u want to do that?

Personally, I don't use any of the settings in it. The menu gets in the way, takes a bit longer to load than other settings, and feels tacked on. Besides, given that putting your app in the settings menu merely requires modifying the hubtype in WMAppManifest.xml, developers or carriers could concievably write crapware apps that are unable to be uninstalled. We should at least have the freedom to uninstall the application

If you don't use it then why did you install it to begin with? lol. Also, its completely out of way, being in the settings menu. By far a better implementation that having it clog up the app list.
There is no official way to remove it. It needs to installed again, but without the modified hubtype, so that it'll appear in the regular app list by which it can then be uninstalled normally.
forget me, im an idiot
How does it slow down ur system? I don't get it, works fine for me.... This is reserved API, you cant use it to put apps in the menus, its only for oem. Get over it or do hard reset.

[Q] HTC One AT&T - Can't install 3rd party apps even when enabled in settings

Ok so this is weird as hell, and i've already called HTC about this and they provided a little bit of help.
First, this is my first official Android handset (Why the hell did I wait so long omg?) after kicking Apple to the curb, so I am still learning all the tricks and shortcuts, but I have a fairly good knowledge as to how the OS works now.
My Issue is I am unable to install 3rd party apps. I have the APK downloaded, I have the option in settings to allow 3rd party apps to install, and when I try to install it takes me to the install screen showing me what the app will have access to, and has cancel and install at the bottom. Cancel works, as well as show info, but the install button does nothing. I've tried from the download section, as well as ASTRO File Manager.
HTC Mention double checking to make sure third party app install is enabled (I can't even get to the install screen otherwise so it obviously is) and they mentioned to do a soft-restart by holding down the power button until it completely reboots.
Here is the kicker, after doing the soft-restart for the first time, I was able to install the Humble Indie Bundle Beta App. Worked perfectly fine. But now that I have downloaded the games from that App, I am back to the same issue before where I can't install the APK's and the soft-restart isn't fixing the issue.
I've goggled the crap out of this and haven't come across really anything like this, except some mention that AT&T Blocks third party apps, but it looks like that was on older HTC phones, and since I was able to install 1 third party app, I don't think that's the case. Any help would be appreciated!
*********** TLR SOLUTION ************
If you can't install 3rd party apps, after having checked the option in settings, remove the "Google Settings" app, and then run your installs. If you are using a new install for the first time, pick Android Installer and not Verify and Install to avoid issues. Scumbag Google.
Re-install Google Settings at your own risk afterwards.

Google recently installed a new "installer" package from the store. I think it was called "verify and install". Anyway, the first time I tried to install from the Amazon store, it asked me which installer to use - Android or the new google installer. I chose the second program (always). After that my programs would not install. I had to remove that program and then the next time I made sure that I selected the default Android installer.
I don't know where the new installer came from. I didn't ask for it to be installed.
Anyway, check your apps list and see if that is installed.

Just searched all apps installed for both install and verify. There is nothing under verify, and install comes up with Certificate Installer DemoFloPackage Installer and Package Installer, all with android icon's, so they appear to be default stuff. I'll definitely keep looking though, thank you for the tip!
Edit: Your suggestion game me the idea to see if there was another installer application on the appstore that might work. I tried Easy Installer and it still just installs using the regular (or I suppose default) installer, which leads me back to the same problem =(
Do you have any apps like Lux Autobrightness or screen filter running or similar? If you do, that is your culprit. Those apps act as an overlay to your screen (that's how they adjust brightness) and as a security feature the install button is disabled when an overlay app is being used to prevent an overlay app from being able to hit the install button. It works after a reboot because the app has not yet started running.

I do have twilight installed (Like F.Lux) but it looks like stevedebi's original assessment was correct. The app is "Google Settings" attached is a screen cap of the culprit.
I unlocked my bootloader to install cynogenmod (decided against it) and when I went to re-install all the apps, the "Android Installer" and "Verify and Install" option came up, and once I saw the icon was the same as google settings, I opened it up and there was the verify options down at the bottom.

Thank you for this info! Completely forgot about this and was getting frustrated when the install button wasn't working..
I tried the whole "deleting the screen filter" app thing. It works momentarily after I "soft" reset my phone, but only for one install.
Every time, I have to reset my phone, so something else is in the way.
My phone is not rooted, if that helps at all. And it's an AT&T galaxy s2.

[APP][4.3+] Seebye Xperitions

Hey folks,
I just want to show you my new app.
It allows you to
turn off your display while it's locked by a double tap
turn off your screen by a double tap on your status bar
open another app instead of What's New (home button swipe up gesture)
If you want to read more go to the official app thread.
Works great! Thank you sir.

@RocketSauce83
Why do you want it as a Xposed Module?
The problem with Xposed and Root is the lower amount of reachable users.
(And the bad ratings from .... (I speak from the experience of my other apps))
Also the app has the possibility to work without changing the system,
so I don't get it why you want it as a Xposed Module.

I tried that features - replace what's up - but nope, won't work.
I removed what's up from system weeks ago, is that what's causing problems?
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
@funky0308 Yeah, that's a problem.
The app is focused on users without rooted devices.
This function checks if what's new is at the front.
If yes it starts the selected app.
So it uses a small trick to customise the function.
So it doesn't work if we have root? When I open the app, I only see Facebook and Twitter then when I click Facebook nothing happens?
Nope, it should also work if your phone is rooted.
I just said that you can't "replace" What's New with my app if you uninstalled it.

Swapped from Lg G Flex and noticing my icons don't have the counter number

Maybe it's just Marshmallow but should my FB messenger icon not have the number for the amount of messages I received? Same with texts, missed calls etc nothing shows. Ok I'm reading a thread that someone had the same question and it mentions Nova launcher. Do I need a new launcher or is there an app to add it?
the n6 does not do that by default. the lg phone is also running lg software on top of android, that's where your numbers are coming from.
I'm happy with asus zenui launcher, it shows what you need.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asus.launcher
The Asus launcher is fine if you happen to like the iCrap look.
There are multiple third-party launchers that have an unread counts notification. Most require you to download a separate app to provide the functions. Many will require you to purchase their "Pro" version to get it. Best of the bunch is Nova, hands down.
Cool thanks everyone. I'm gonna try the Zenui launcher and see how I like it

In settings under security there is a device administrators section. If an app is set as a device administrator it will cause the uninstall button to be greyed out. If you uncheck the box so the app is no longer a device administrator you will be able to uninstall it.
