MIUI - meaning of "default screen"? - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

I have one of the screens set as the "default homescreen", thinking this screen would always be the one displayed after I unlock the phone.
Instead I see whatever the same screen that was being displayed before I put phone to sleep.
I have several widgets on my "default screen" that I'd like to see every time I unlock my phone. How do I go about doing that?

Operator Name

Im in Brazil, so... im not in t-mobile's world, my phone is a unlocked one.
My question is, the network operator name doesnt appear in any place...
Lock screen... notification... etc...
Im using the cyanogens 4.0.4
It is normal? Its a rom issue?
I don't think it's supposed to be displayed all over, it's not on my lock screen and I don't know why it would be in notifications.
You can see it if you open settings app, scroll to "about phone" at the bottom, then chose "status".

My phone is unlocked running on O2, and I see it labeled on the lockscreen and when the notifications bar is pulled down...
Actually yeah, it is supposed to be on the lock screen, but I thought it had been removed on purpose, but looking closer, the separator line is still there, so probably not. Guess it's a bug then, still correct in settings.

ICS lock screen question

Is it possible to have the slide locksreen and a pattern at the same time in ICS? As in, when you turn the screen on, you see the slide lock and when you select something, your pattern comes up.
WidgetLocker, but the default ICS lock screen seems to only let me choose one or the other.
Any ideas?
Try milocker https://market.android.com/details?id=com.miui.home&hl=en I installed it when it was first released and it would unlock to my lockscreen. Pissed me off to no end, but seems you actually want it to do this lol. Hope they haven't fixed this in an update (for your sake)

[Q] Getting rid of "Samsung Account Notice" on home screen?

How to get rid of "Samsung Account Notice" on home screen?
When I bring my watch up to look the main clock shows up along with the "Samsung Account Notice" at the bottom of screen.
I've swiped left to get rid of it as to see the whole clock, but when it goes to sleep, it comes back the next time I look at watch. I've swiped up and it says "Tap here to see details" and tapping does nothing, but when I swipe left, it says "Open on Phone" my phone lights up, but it shows nothing on there.
What do I do and how do I get rid of it? Very irritating!

I just got this watch yesterday, so I'm sure I'm missing something simple.
BTW, the vibration on this is crummy... one short weak burst that I hardly feel.
Having some regrets about getting this as I bought it for text alerts.
Also out of the blue, I get the "step" box. I don't want it so why is it showing up sometimes?
Can I disable that feature?
I'm not getting any answers to my questions above?
I've never seen the "Samsung Account Notice" that you mention, so I'm not sure what the cause or resolution might be, but have you set up the Samsung stuff on the phone? maybe there is something incomplete or incorrect there. Check in Settings->Security on the phone.
For the "Step" card, go to the "Google Search" screen that shows up when you tap the awake screen, scroll to "Show me my steps" and select it, swipe left 2x, and change "Show step card" to off.

Getting back to AOSP (stock Android) lockscreen?

Hey all you brilliant people here.
I like many others I imagine am getting fed up with EMUI tarnishing what is otherwise a great phone, the P9. The lockscreen especially is pissing me off to no end, it's next to useless. Magazine unlock my ass...
I was wondering if you could back to the more usable AOSP lockscreen? I've Googled around, tried renaming keyguard.apk to .bak etc., but nothing really does it for me. Phone is rooted of course, and I have Xposed up and running. I am also unable to select "none" as security for the lockscreen as it is (and no, clearing credentials doesn't work), making things even more complicated.
I could use a 3rd party lockscreen, but they've always been completely hit & miss for me. Cheers everyone!
Selecting the "none" option in screen lock is easy.
- Select the "pattern" option, create a pattern and a backup code.
- Lock your phone and enter the wrong pattern 3 times.
- Wait a minute (until your next shot) and unlock with the "backup PIN" or Google Account
- You'll get to a screen where you can select what new option you want to use to unlock.
- DON'T CHOOSE AN OPTION, just press the "back" button and the unlock is set to "none"
Done!

Kill the Always On Display

How can I toggle the AOD to be completely off? This is driving me nuts. I'm aware of the settings within the Motion Sense area of settings. The "show when nearby" seems to take, however no matter what I do the clock still appears no matter what as an AOD. I've tried disabling the following in different combinations to no avail:
Motion Sense
com.google.oslo
Pixel Ambient Services
com.google.intelligence.sense
Motion Sense Bridge
com.google.android.apps.motionsense.bridge
Even tried the clock app itself
com.google.android.deskclock
Whenever these are initially disabled it seems to work for a minute or so but then the clock pops back up on the AOD. I just want the toggles to work! This is for when I'm driving and my my phone is mounted where it faces me. I already have 2 clocks in my car and don't need a third it's more of an annoyance than anything else.
Do you have Always On disabled in the Lock Screen settings?
Display>Lock Screen Display>Always on

Search for "always on" in settings and turn it off
display / lockscreen / always on - does not exist
Searching for "always on" yields no results.
I don't have a lock screen set as I don't need it, though I did try setting one temporarily to see if the option showed up, but nothing. That's how I used to do it on my note but they moved everything around on 10.

You really don't have always on under..settings/display/advanced/lock screen display....then scroll to the bottom??
Display, scroll all the way to the bottom, select lock screen display, bottom third of the screen you'll see Always on, toggle it off. You can still have it light up by tapping, lifting, or triggered by soli, in any combination if you wish.
edit.. Ninja'ed me Badge, it's there, he just missed it.

It's probably because you went around disabling apps. Enable the Pixel ambient Services.

With everything re-enabled and a hard reboot, I set a screen lock. Then went back to display and the "lockscreen" option was now available. I turned off AOD and then disabled the screen lock and it took. No more clock.
It seems as though the AOD toggle being buried in the lock screen options, which is only available when one is on will take no matter of a lock screen is set. So every time I want to change this I have to go through this process. I wish there was a Quick Settings shortcut for this.

Well it's not exactly meant to be toggled on and off often like the ones in the Quick Settings pulldown menu. The easiest and quickest way is just searching "Always on" in settings and you can actually toggle it right there as seen in the screenshot.

Also if you are not using the active edge for anything critical you might try button mapper by flar2 and see if one of the options can be set to it. Or maybe even on of the other options in his app will apply it.

I don't now and have never had a lock screen enabled on my phone and can and have always been able to enable or disable always on display. Unless you disabled some app affecting this as mentioned above it should be there for you too just as it is for the rest of us. You may want to look into that and see what's hanging you up.

I haven't been able to do it since it was virgin out of the box, the option just isn't there. Doing it on my old Note 8 was super easy it was right where it was supposed to be. Although I have found a workaround for anyone on the off chance I'm not the only one experiencing this.
Being rooted, I downloaded ShortcutMaster and used the app explorer and poked around until I found;
[Setup Wizard]
com.google.android.pixel.setupwizard
tap and scroll down to;
com.google.android.pixel.setupwizard.alwaysondisplay.AlwaysOnDisplayOptInActivity
Choosing [launch] triggers the screen from inital setup to toggle the AOD.
Set it as favorite, or Homescreen (on the paid version)
Launch Shortcut master each time to change it or use the homescreen icon shortcut.
The setting seems to take each time I've done it so far.

Lockscreen customize
Since we're on the lockscreen topic, is there a way to add the camera icon back on the lock screen?

Don't think so but you can just double click power to get to camera quickly
