I tried using custom roms installed via TWRP and resulted in flickering black screen with multiple roms. After this happened I resulted back to the stock recovery and reinstalled the latest version of Fire OS from Amazon website and.... black flickering screen. Is this a brick? or... If it is it's going in the trash

Model? Generation? Regardless, sounds like your device suffered a hardware failure or somehow acquired a borked boot.img. The latter seems more likely given recovery (twrp) is working. Believe the unlock thread contains guidance for restoring the stock boot.img.
Assume you are experienced and applying the appropriate wipes in twrp when swapping ROMs.

Amazon Fire 5th Generation. I got the boot.img from the AmazonFire5thGenSuperTool and installed it as recovery through TWRP. I will go through the guide of restoring the boot.img and reply as soon as possible!
I restored stock recovery through the unlock guide and same thing... black flashing screen. It's borked or something.

True. I didn't realize twrp was working.
From twrp flash the unlock exploit. The newest one is in a twrp flashable format.
It will ensure proper lk is used. Lk should be responsible for the screen drivers. Afaik.
Then try revamped or Los or Nexis rom

Then that is maybe why you are having trouble flashing ROMs.
The current custom ROMs all require the device to be unlocked.
Here is the thread with the unlock exploit.

-I do my absolute best to code this without bugs and I try it out before I release it. I spent quite a while going through making sure the toolkit works. If you find any bugs, glitches, typos, button not working, script not working, etc. or simply want me to implement a feature into the toolkit, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ^^ (This was over 570 lines of code in Visual Studio 2013 you know, and I am a human being ). While this is what I do on my side, as with most tools, you use EZToolkit at your own discretion.

Perhaps someone here can help me. I did an RUU on my phone after I had already rooted and installed a custom ROM because I was having some problems with music playback. The RUU fixed the problem and I thought I should try to unlock the bootloader again to begin the rooting process but when I did my phone got stuck in a bootloop. I was able to install a recovery after unlocking but I was not able to flash a boot.img to my phone again. Any help would be great. Thanks!

PS: have you got the phone already?
yes since yesterday... here in germany with an online seller.
but the eroot method is for sony ericsson, not a motorola...
don't wanna brick it the second day.
even i want to know how to root.. do we need to unlock bootloader?
standard procedure is to unlock bl and then root...

FAQ
Code:
1. Where are the GAPPS?
- Gapps are already in the factory image, you don't have to worry about that.
2. Will this wipe my device entirely?
- Yes it will! Be careful, if you don't want your stuff to be wiped you can wait for OTA (I'll pull out OTA link and ZIP files when I get it via logcast)
3. Is this official release? -
Yes!
4. Do I need to have unlocked bootloader to install this?
- No you dont have to. Thank you fedevd for correcting me.
5. How do I fix system.img missing error? (If this occurs to you)
- Read this, [URL="http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/11/12/running-into-the-dreaded-missing-system-img-error-flashing-android-5-0-factory-images-heres-how-to-get-around-it/"]http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/11/12/running-into-the-dreaded-missing-system-img-error-flashing-android-5-0-factory-images-heres-how-to-get-around-it/[/URL]
6. Can I root this?
- Yes, read this thread: [url]http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/root-android-lollipop-t2940547[/url]
7. Can I install this without wiping all my data?
- Yes, but its not recommended, ROM may have bugs and may run slower then intended. Here's how to do it:

You will have to do that via your PC since when you flash factory image it puts back stock recovery.
I flashed it! Works flawlessly, I'm trying to find root for it now.
Flashed and booting up as we speak!
Anyone tried CF root yet? (I know it's early days just asking)
I put together once again (I did it first on the Moto G 2014) the Google Logo for our Moto X Play to flash it and remove the warning when unlocking the bootloader.

You can flash any 5.5 inch.
Since we're getting rid of the bootloader warning, I should say that for Moto X Play, stock boot logo from Moto G 2014 integrates way much, much better with boot animation (same as Moto G 2014, indeed) cause it has the same green circle design, unlike the newest, plain blue material design; but I can't find it in Moto X Play size...
