ROM suggestions for and strange CPU frequency problem - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Hello community
Im wondering if there is a proper rom out there for my Global Mi9 that combines features (fingerprint functionality - google Pay) and battery life since I noticed 2 strange things.
1. Android system comes first in battery consumption,
2. I need to set the phone to LTE-WCDMA everytime I reboot
3. After a while, and sometimes after I charge, I notice higher battery consumption for no reason, and the CPUs Idle to 1000 mhz instead of the ~500. Anyone knows why?
Since I am unable to solve the above, I am getting a moderate battery life on my Mi9 10.2.2.26 EU build. Can you please suggest me any ROM alternatives with pros and cons?
Really thanks in advance.

Battery life TEST - please comment

Hi All,
I'm pretty new to the P990, but I've read that quite a lot op people have quite bad battery life (myself included).
Would it not make sense to try to do some objective testing instead of saying "I get X hours with this rom when I do five calls, twenty texts and fifteen minutes of playing game Y"?
We could try to make a list (e.g. with a google spreadsheet to keep it simple) where we list all potential useful information and our result (based on a battery testing app).
Rom, Kernel, Baseband, RIL, SD card present or not, OC settings, voltage settings...
starting conditions: fully charged battery, backlight to e.g. 50%?
Would there be some interest/point in doing these tests? Maybe we would find out big differences between BB's or Kernels?
I tested mine with Antutu Tester and got a score of 399. Does anybody else have a suggestion for a better battery testing app?
(for those interested: temasek's KANG build P204-54, 1202041202-ETaNa_0, 405 BB and RIL, CPU min:216, max:1015, voltages standard ETaNa display brightness to automatic (I know, this was probably a bad move, SD card present)).
This might not be the best battery tester since the screen stays on and the cpu is being used for +/-50%; this will not test battery decreasing during screen off/deep sleep. So alternatives more than welcome.
Is there also an app that works with some of our kernels to get a log that shows how much time the CPU spends in each state? I'm especially interested in Deep Sleep.
The more I read the more I like my phone... I'm still on stock 2.2 and I don't have random crashes/bugs, everything works as it should, and battery lasts for more or less two days even with some gaming and 3G data usage.
Still, if you're willing to come up with that excel spreadsheet and centralizing the data from everyone in one sheet, I'll do it

I have a problem with my battery

I have a problem with my battery, let's say that I recently installed infinirom but without the removelaucher. There are now three days since I installed it but I notice that the phone has a significant consumption.
Not how to improve the durability, I use the greenfy and sd maid and many other small methods, (how to get up to max of 30/20 charge and then recharge 100), I did immediately after the installation of the rom battery calibration once.
At this point I do not know what to do, I have to change rom and istallarne a new or take other measures?
Help me = (
My battery life is now, for example 20h duration on screen with less than 3h

Something is draining your battery alot.
Mine last atleast 6+ hours on screen.
- Go install betterbatterystats and then check up on it after a day too see if something constantly wake's your phone. then eliminate it!
- Go into applications in settings and disable everything you dont use example: (car mode, google maps, tags, nfc,) you can always enable them when you need them.
- You could also get a cpu manager so you can clock down the cpu. 2 ghz havent been a need for me, only with high graphics games. 1600 mhz is running all smooth too!

Battery Drain on 9.0 Pie

Hi people,
Can someone give me and opinion of the battery drain with a note 9 on pie?
I bought my Note 9 four days ago and updated to 9.0 pie right out of the box, I think that battery is still optimizing for usage but I find it very bad with battery life and SoT. I'm posting a screenshot, if you have some tips ?
I'm with exynos, 50% brightness display, exynos version, Bluetooth off

You answered your own question! Battery is still optimizing for usage! You have to give it 10 or so days before it battery gets better! Also turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G, Sync, turn the screen off turn everything off lol messing with you 2/3 weeks mine took to settle down!
I'm having the same problem. Android System was waaaaay lower before. It's always at the top of the list now. :/

There's plenty that can be done, especially if you have the exynos version of the phone.
-Unlock bootloader and install Dr Ketan's rom, it is fantastic.
-Then apply endurance kernel.
-Use Magisk manager to apply module: Universal GMS Doze
-Use Mtweaks to apply a few kernel tweaks
I haven't gone this far just yet as I'd like to see how the phone goes without it for a few weeks but you can also install greenify or if you want to really get serious, greenify xposed module. Personally I find the battery life of the note9 to be fantastic but you must keep in mind that the screen is enormous and hi-resolution. Whenever you are using the screen, especially at a high brightness level the battery is going to drain - it can't run on good intentions.
Try turning down the brightness. If you are absolutely serious about battery life over everything else, you can disable auto-sync, remove the official facebook apps if you have them and replace them with faceslim and lite messenger and modify the notification settings.
Doing all of the above and only turning the phone on when you need to make a phone call or use navigation etc should net you an easy 4 days+ of useage but then again, you may as well have bought a $30 powerbank phone.
Tripping Knox hardly sounds like a good idea if I'm honest.
If your Android System is high then something in the background is wrong. You could try clearing cache then give the phone a couple days to settle
Battery life varies significantly with any phone and any version of Android.
Often we assume, wrongly in my opinion that a very large factor in battery life is the version of Android , hence the numerous posts on this forum who wish to or have gone back to Oreo, for reasons I consider delusional.
What apps you have on your phone and how often you use them are significant, playing games that use lots of cpu and gpu is going to impact battery life.
Web browser and YouTube rather less so.
I have experienced lower and higher screen on time and standby time with the same apps and version of Oreo, and Pie (both on beta and released)
I am on Exynos Note 9
Bought and used since release date Aug 24 2018, haven't used so called battery life friendly charging (20% to 80% etc)
Can run battery down to 0% on occasion and charge to 100% using fast charge, often left on charge overnight.
Yes there are some optimisation that may help and I use a few, I couldn't tell how much they help though as just varying usage is a greater factor in my opinion
Battery performance from yesterday
18.5 hours total usage with 9.25 hours screen on time

Mi 9 lite battery drain \ cpu usage miui 11

Hi everyone,
I received my phone a week ago.
After first boot it updated to miui 11.
I noticed a day later that the battery is getting empty fast. Much faster than my old redmi 4x.
I figured out that the CPU usage is never under 19% @ 595mhz
I testet that with different apps that show the CPU usage.
In case of that the phone also never get into deepsleep and the battery drains and drains...
Is here someone who can help me please?!

Miui 11 is full of bugs, scrolling lagging everywhere... I recommend you to stay on Miui 10. I have around 9h screen on time with brightness on half

Sounds great! But how can i go back to 10?
First put phone into fastboot mode, then check antirool feature with command fastboot getvar anti if you have
anti: 1 it's all good, after that you need to download from Miui page proper recovery rom, put zip on your phone storage and then flash via Miui system update in settings. Don't flash wrong rom it can hard brick device if you have locked bootloader, also remove password for screen, fingerprints, all accounts, miui cloud

Thanks for that! I´ve downgraded to MIUI 10. But the CPU usage is still never under 19% . If the battery now will drain not as fast as before i will see., but i think it will be near the same.
Maybe you can do me a favor and check with the app " CPU / GPU meter & Notification " if your CPU is going under 19% usage. Maybe it is a issue with this kind of apps....
Probably apps have problem with readings..
I think below 19% when device in deep sleep or battery saving mode. Dont know about that app, maybe just reading in relatime. There is a case when i like your case, at first day using miui 11 stable eu, i can get 2days with 6h sot, most of it using wifi. Then i setup my phone completely. On next day, the battery getting drain fast, and it cant last for 1 day, and just 5h sot. Next i check battery usage, and whatsapp at the top rank. And i unlocking every task. The next day my battery back to normal. And when im writing this post, my battery have 85%, 2h sot, and 7h ago since last charge.
Miui 10 with airplane mode enabled
Since I upgraded to MIUI 11 the battery drains fast
not much draining for me but never go deep sleep, most used frequency is 576 mhz
Hi everyone,
I have the same sad issue.... changed from a 3 years old Redmi Note 4 to a 9 lite.
Battery life with my old Note 4 (same 4000mah) was twice the battery life on my 9 lite, after 3 years!!
I disabled everything in 9 lite, NFC, wifi, bluetooth, background and startup apps, animations, notifications, Gplay updates, face unlocking, always on display, enabled dark theme etc etc....
Same battery drain, 12-13% Android System usage on battery stats.
I hope it will be fixed on a newer MIUI update, but it is very irritating to have to charge a new phone every day, when on an older you had a double battery life.
Please update us in case we'll found a workaround....
Just a question.... How do you monitor CPU usage? I see the setting inside developer options has been removed.....
Same here. Tried many things. Looks like "Settings -> Battery and performance -> Battery saver" solved problem for me. Used to drain ~30% over night while idle, now ~7% in same case.
I suppose battery saving tries to shutdown functions I already disabled...
I tried to leave a feedback to Xiaomi.
Also I created android commands local file dump with code *#*#284#*#* and trying to investigate by myself...
I tried modify modify some settings and uninstall or disable some not used apps before. It made almost any difference.
Previously I used Samsung smartphone. With similar settings I had great battery life. It seems mi 9 lite just cannot sleep/deep sleep without Battery saver turned on. I did not notice any difference in performance, user experience or notification frequency while this setting is on, and it seems it works in different way compared to Samsung implementation. Just give it a try.
May be I'm out ; when I sleep if my screen is " up " I lost 25- 30 % of battery : ( when my screen is "return" 4 or 5 % : )

With my 3 years old (after 3 years...) Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, I assure you, battery life was at least triple of my new 9 lite...

Interesting.... I'll try....
I find it crazy how this phones loses 7-10% overnight while my RN5 lost maybe 2. I work and live in area with bad 4G but decent 3G signal. I try to force 3G when I can.
I just switched on battery saver to see if it helps my standby drain at all.
I'm currently at 1.5 days off the charger, with 37% battery left after 4 hours of screen time. I am a fairly light user and just browse Reddit, XDA, text, hangouts, and 2 email accounts. Reminds me of my Nexus 5 lol. So terrible considering I do so many things to try to squeeze as much battery life as I can.
Maybe my Galaxy Watch being constantly connected has something to do with it.
Top 4 battery users are :
Android system 20%
Phone Idle 12.7%
Cell standby 12.5%
Screen 9.8%

Have you tried a GSI? Does anything stop working, like finger print reader, etc?
Inserting code ##4636#*#* and accessing networks menu, I found that in both SIM1 and SIM2 is set as default (LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS if you have 2 SIM and you use Dual 4G, LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS on SIM1 and TD-SCDMA/UMTS if you have 2 SIM and don't you use Dual 4G as default), the chinese network TD-SCDMA (before or after LTE network)
Probably this cause waste of time, battery loss and an higher sar level, mostly when LTE network coverage is not at its best.
Unfortunately this setting can be modified inside this menu (setting for example LTE/WCDMA), but this is lot when you restart the phone.
My firmware version is PFCEUXM european Rom.
I wish this TD-SCDMA chinese network will be definitively removed in next rom upgrade!!!

Question Battery

New mi 11... Battery is ridicilous. Other is almost 500 mah??? EU phone miui 12.5.1 . Will this solve itself over time??? If not someone have an advice?
Thanks
Wait a week while your phone learns how you use it.
You have many tweak you can disable with miui for battery saving.
Afterwards, you will have some advanced tweak for your phone to save battery.
Debloat...
Root...
Naptime/servicely...
Or flash a GSI rom for best result...
But one thing at a time. You have new phone. Take your time.
(but you will understand that mi 11 doesn't have a good battery life in fact)
Unlikely it will get better... even if does it will likely cause erratic behavior and more battery consumption than if you directly addressed the problem apks.
Don't know though with that platform.
I disable all power management and deal with the battery hogs on a case by case basis.
