[Android 9 PIE] Howto activate Hotspot when in car (Bluetooth)? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Hello, I would like to know how can I activate the Wi-Fi Hotspot of my Note 8 (with Android Pie) when I get in the car (Bluetooth connection).
On Android 8.0 Oreo, I had it working with Tasker, but after updating it to Android Pie it doesn't work anymore.
:crying::crying::crying:
Any advices would be greatly appreciated.
(I now use hated Bixby and say 'activate hotspot', but for example when I'm out of coverage (underground) it doesn't speech recognition doesn't work...

Looking for an Android headunit but last one wouldn't see hotspot.

I have a Samsung Note 4 and I want to use it as the hotspot for the headunit. The last one I tried (YINUO® Quad Core 1024*600 Android 4.4.4 7 inch Universal Car DVD Player) would see WiFi but not the WiFi from my phone. Anyone have any experience with this or could recommend a good headunit? Please and thank you!
Oh I don't need it to have a DVD but I would like it to either have a volume knob or vol + and vol - buttons.
Again thank you for your time.
Rob
Android auto is different from your headunit, yours looks like it is actually running android like a tablet:

Android Auto headunits (like the NEX 4100) will give you maps and play music and will use your phones data connection directly, no wifi hotspot required!
That is a rebadged HuiFei unit, which is probably the best and most popular type of head units right now. It also should be no problem working with a phone wifi tethering/hotspot. It will NOT work with bluetooth tethering though because the bluetooth on them is dedicated to phone/audio only.

Pioneer MVH-2300NEX + Note 8 Oreo

after updating to oreo i'm not able to use android auto.
everything right now is at latest version.
android auto will not detect the headunit and add it as a "Car".
have tried multiple quality cables including oem samsung
the phone detects the connection and is charging, it also shows up as "data transfer" mode
bluetooth works fine, the spotifty function on the headunit will work if android auto is running on the phone however android auto will not mirror to the headunit while usb connected.
What version of Android Auto? Maybe downgrade back to 2.9.
Was 3.1 I will try 2.9
Thanks

2.9 didn't work either. and way to debug this?
I still can't get this to work.
pioneer wont help me, google wont help me.
I've reset my phone countless times.
any way to force AA to load on HU?
Was this ever solved? Not sure if these are related or not. I did not pay any attention to what version my S8+ was until now. Could it have taken ATT this long to upgrade my phone to Oreo?
Here is my story ...
I have Galaxy S8+ running 8.0.0. My Pioneer AVH-2330NEX is running firmware 8.35 dated July 2018. AA quit working after the Jan 2019 update to the phone. I get an "Andriod Auto stopped working" on the head unit. Here is the troubleshooting I have done so far.
I have tested the phone on a 2016 Honda factory head and all works. I have tested the Pioneer head with a friends old 1+1 (6.0.1 Cyaongen 13.1) and it works with the Pioneer.
But the S8+ and Pioneer do not.
Any thoughts?
Update to android pie solved all my problems with Android auto on pioneer avh z7100 dab

android auto

Is this working at all
YES! Perfectly! And Google assistant keeps me company when I am stack in traffic??
Works fine for me also
hi guys,
has anyone tried P20Pro with Android Auto on a KIA Sportage latest series?
is that working fine ?
I don't know how the kia system works but with Ford I have to enable android auto in the cars settings first then it automatically starts android auto when I plug my phone in
thank for the info,
on the KIA Sportage 2017 you must first start the AA app on the cell, then attach the smartphone with the USB cable to the system, only after the KIA navigator activates the android auto function.
On a site (link at the bottom) I read that any problems of disconnecting android cars are due to the USB connection settings on the phone, but just (no root) enable USB tethering. The charging will be deactivated immediately and all available bandwidth will be used to run Android Auto.
Unfortunately, I do not know if this will be possible on Android P.

no one got a kia and p20 pro?
Working with Volvo S90.
I have KIA Sportage and you only have to plug it to usb and select android auto from the car screen.

Are you talking about P20pro connected to KIA? Or only about the connection to Kia by android auto?
Thank you
Yes! I have p20 pro connected to Kia sportage.
Ok, I'll buy it. Thank you
Ordered.... ?
Great choice for both, car and phone! :good:
I've got a Kia Optima and I don't get a ringtone on android auto - works ok when connected to just bluetooth, but on AA I just get the notification coming up on the screen and no sound
Any ideas?
Have you tried to check the media or phone volume on optima navi?
Yes, all on max. Head unit worked OK with my Samsung S7 Edge.
Will reset the bluetooth connection tomorrow, see if that helps. Already tried the Google Play Services hack, that didn't work - except mess up my Google Maps timeline
Tempted to do a factory reset and start agin - had a few issues that I now know how to fix, such as no alarms when do not disturb and whitelist is set

Mirrorlink

Hi Everyone,
Just looking for a little more help with my mate 10 pro.
One of the main reasons why I got this phone was to use the mirrorlink function in my car since my car only has mirrorlink and not android auto.
I managed to update my phone from EMUI 8.00 to 9.1.0.300, but now I seem to have lost the mirrorlink function. I thought it was only EMUI 10 that the mirrorlink function stopped due to compatibility issues.
Is there a way of getting mirrorlink back on EMUI 9.1 or is it only available on EMUI 8.0.
If it is only available on 8.0 can I roll back to the previous version?
I did try using Hisuite, but in the previous versions tab it only allows me to go back to 9.0.
Mirrorlink is really important for me so can anyone help me with some further information?
Thanks in advance

I only get the option for wireless projection.
Mirrorlink for your car needs USB cable to be connected.
Is there any other settings I need to look at?

Android 11 WiFi Hotspot not toggled since update

Hey there,
on my Samsung Note 10+ is an app running called Profiles. I use this neat app for years and since I updated my OS to Android 11 this app cannot switch on or off the WiFi Hotspot.
The app is kinda 'if this than that' style but locally, like when I connect to my WiFi at home or work lower ringing sounds etc.
The hotspot was activated as soon as I connect to my cars Bluetooth, but now Google has somehow changed something with the Hotspot start/stop on Android 11 and the dev cant get it to work.
Any idea if there is an other app out there which supports WiFi Hotspot on / off toggle when connecting to a specific BT device for Android 11?
Thanks in advance
