The topic says it all, with the current state of the tablet world, and understanding that when the Transformer Prime and its generation of tablets comes out the Gtab7 will be 2 generations behind, should i buy one ?
I can get one 2nd hand, for 150€ wifi+3g.
Is it worth it ?
if you can find one for a decent price, i'd say go for it... it might be worth checking the model of the one you want to buy to make sure developers support it if thats what you are after.
i just recently bought myself a galaxy tab 7 and im sure i'll get tons of use out of it. its such a nice size and portable, and the expericne is comparable to my phone, so nothing its too foreign like it is going from froyo to honeycomb or something.
i figure i'll keep this one until they come out with some decent 7 inch icecream sandwich tablets and i'll sell it and buy one of those. but i dont see one coming out that will thrill me much until at least mid next year.
i bought mine for about that same price (but in USD), honestly for me the instant i saw the deal it was far too good for me to resist.

I already own a HD2 (work phone) and a DHD (private phone), so the Tab will be a complement to this ecosystem. I like it not being too big, and yet not too small.
We can find tons of 7inch tablets, bat all of them have the same resolution has my phones, and i wish to AVOID pixels
Performance wise, is it still on par? Can i throw it the same things i can on my DHD ?
How do you expect the ICS support to be? We're talking about samsung turf, and they're currently the "good guys" on google eyes, so the systems will always be similar. Yet i remain renitent... I hope others will comment this thread
well if you are looking at the one of the first generations of galaxy tabs (the ones that come with android 2.2), then i think samsung will not officially be releasing ICS on it. however there are some people who are working on porting ICS to the tab. You can find more on that in the development section.
I have a samsung galaxy s, SCH-I500, same as the fascinate on verizons network i think...
the phone and the tab have nearly identical specs, but the tab does feel much smoother. probably due to the increased ram it has.
one thing you can always consider though. 200$ is a good deal, and for what you can buy it for, if it turns out you cant achieve the experience you want on it... how hard will it be to just turn over to someone for the cost you paid? or even a bit more?
i cant really speak for the hd2 or desire hd phones, as i've not played with either. but i suspect the fact that you'll be using the tablet for different purposes would still make it a good buy. so far i think all the apps i have on my phone have ported over to my tab with no issues, seeing as how its pretty much the same OS version.

I've come to accept that RAM is a major player on this OS. It's memory freak, but above a certain point, it's pointless of course (just like a PC).
As it stands, on 2.3.x, anything above 1gb is too much

200€ is a little too much above my budget. 150€ is the most i'll give, expecially for something that's probably 1 year old (i don't mean the release data, i mean the warranty)

I WOULD be using the tablet. It got sold (bummer) minutes after the OP.
Pitty.... but i'll keep looking...
ah... sorry about the dollar amount... i was doing a rough conversion. 150 euros is about 200 us dollars.
that's something that was kind of getting me discouraged about my search for a 7inch. the lowest price i found before the one i bought was i think 330 USD, which is about 100 more euros than your budget.
thats why the minute i saw the deal, i jumped on it right away.
one thing that seems to be unanimous though, is try and stay away from the wifi only versions of the tab, as they lack in updates (even from samsung), and have little to no 3rd party development.

Message received and understood! No wifi.
Don't apolagize, i'm the one that should be.
Still, 150€/$200 is a very nice deal, i hope i can find one again.
BTW, how hard is it to sim unlock this things ?
i couldnt tell you how easy it is to sim unlock the tab... mine is a verizon wireless version, and they dont take sim cards... and i think its locked into their network.
GSM tabs are easy to unlock. Search the forums.
I've actually. Bought 3 of the original 7" tabs recently, all at or below $200 CDN. All were mint condition.
Why 3? Well. Friends keep wanting in on the great deal
The Galaxy tab, while older is still very capable. Compare it to the kindle fire or nook color at around the same price point.
Slap CM 7.1 or CM 9 and you're in a good spot.

In my entire phone history, I have only ever owned and used 2 Android devices - the HTC Desire (with its awful amount of storage) and now the Samsung Galaxy Note. My Note is a fantastic behemoth of a phone, and perhaps even a tablet, but the Nexus 7 still appeals to me. As I like to not waste battery life of my phone, I'm not in a position to always use it heavily as I may need it to last the rest of the day rather than have it burn out after five hours of film watching in the morning. A tablet sounds appealing since I feel I no longer need a laptop besides for the occasional piece of homework where I shall need a keyboard and spend the majority of my time just on Facebook, the XDA forums, Blogger, YouTube and other basic web services. So, do you think the Nexus 7 is any good for me?
I think so, the only concern you should have is whether the small screen size jump justifies a new device. If you are fine with owning a 5in and 7in device, this seems like a nice product to do all your browsing on so you are not sucking the phone dry.
The screen jump size is pretty minimal and, in my mind, I find it hard to justify. Whilst I don't take my phone to school, however, I do like for it to last the day and giving it the intense usage of a tablet it just won't manage that. I brought the Note to purposely save the cost of a tablet also, yet this Nexus 7 seems an absolute bargain with pretty good specification. Plus, I suspect it'll have some great support and the idea of a pure Google experience interests me.
Also, is it possible to have multiple user profiles through different Google accounts on Android? As my family and I may split the costs, yet we wouldn't want each other accessing our Google accounts.
Do you think the extra 8GB to 16GB is worth the extra £41 GBP or so?
Just wait till the end of July, hold it in your hands and decide for yourself and live with no regrets.

I'm going to hold off on it for now. I don't really have the money and 2 inches isn't enough to warrant another device. My Galaxy Note is pretty great...

I'd love for Google to implement this themselves on tablet versions of Jelly Bean, as in my opinion tablets are a device used by more than one person unlike a phone. Yet, if I were to buy a tablet, I'd feel uncomfortable letting my family use it cause I don't want them accessing my YouTube, Gmail and all my accounts that are tied to the tab.
Do people here think it is worth it or not?
It'll be in shops a week after preordered units are shipped out according to some sources. They say just the 16gb though as the 8gb will only be available in the play store

Okay. Still can't decide whether to buy this or not. I could just install Paranoid Android, which will allow me to run apps in tablet or phone mode, onto my Note and then there would be just 2 inches screen difference. Yet, a pure Google experience without the risk of flashing and the latest Android version all seems really appealing to me. I suppose it'll take me a while to safe up the cash anyway, which will give me time to think.
I think the size difference is too small to be worth it. Plus the 8-16 GB limitation. You already have a device that can pretty much double up as a tablet for all the things you posted about. Just get an extra battery (and/or the 5400 mah one) and you'll be good to go.

I think so too. I'm looking into Paranoid Android, which will allow me to actually run tablet apps. Hopefully that'll help a bit. On a side note, do you think there'll be much of a performance difference between the Nexus 7 and Note?
Note has dual-core clocked at 1.4Ghz.
Nexus 7 has quad-core clocked at 1.3Ghz.

Try an app called "app lock", it's really useful for stopping people accessing apps with your personal info when you let them borrow your phone/tablet.

The difference will be massive (from what i've heard) because of jellybean's "project butter". So the question is when the devs make jellybean available for you.
sent from my Terran Command Center.
You will love the device - No doubt!
I am not sure whether I "need" one either. I already have a MacBook Pro, a SGS2 and a iPad 3 wifi only. Any idea what I should do, I really want one to experience some Jelly Bean!

The question is, do you use your iPad often? If not then what's the point? I'm pretty sure that sooner or later (if not already) there will be a port of Jelly Bean for you SGS2.
If you really want it that bad for no reason, why not just sell you iPad then buy the Nexus 7. You'll be gaining money too that way
Ok. I'm planning to buy 2 mobiles in next month for me and my brother, but I'm lost on which one to pick from crowd as I'm no expert
I don't trust Karbonn and Micromax like local companies to last long and give good after sale service and development, so please suggest branded viable options.
1st
Budget is around 14-15k
Dual core processor if possible.
More then 512 RAM
400 GPU at least
2nd
Budget is around 10k
Processor should be good
GPU should be at least 200
RAM should be 512
I've did fair amount of research and looking at HTC explorer or Xperia Tipo as possible option in this but explorer has really low internal memory and I've notices lot of people facing ''Echo during call's'' and ''horrible touch screen'' issues with Tipo, rumors are that it's faulty build issue and might not be repairable, is this true?
Also, anyways to get around this low internal memory issue and is there any way to use compass software on HTC explorer since it doesn't have compass sensor's or something?
Me and my brother have never used Android before so we don't know much about rooting and things but we wont mind experimenting after few months, so it's ok even if this phones do not posses absolutely latest versions of OS.
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes time to help :highfive:

My phone's battery is running out from 100 to 0 in 10 minutes or so and I need to be next to a charger 100% of the time...
I really need a new phone and thought about the OnePlus 3t and HTC 10... (Both are about the same price in Israel)
I need a phone with an awesome battery life and camera, good display, performance and build quality... Do you have any suggestions? And if not any of these phones, which phone do you recommend?
Any one?
Well, my opinion is very biased, since I chose the OP3T. But I was a loyal HTC fan, and this is my first smartphone that isn't an HTC (after owning 5 different HTC phones).
The main discriminators for me were price (OP3T is $439 US versus $599 for the HTC10) and the fact that the 10 felt like "last generation" to me. It's true that the OP3T is really only a half a year/generation newer. But the 10 really did feel like last years model to me, with the U and U Ultra coming soon.
My last phone is the HTC M9, going on 3 years old now. So for me, the OP3T is a big upgrade. It's blazing fast, takes really nice photos, and the AMOLED screen is beautiful. Now the downsides are the screen resolution (probably only an issue if you want to do VR), lowlight photos (although I've been doing fine, and I take a lot of pics of my kids) and no SD card slot (for now, the 64 GB version is fine - or you can go for the 128 GB version).
The battery life on the OP3T has also been impressive. Plus, with the included Dash charger, it charges really fast.
The 10 is a nice phone as well. I think all you really gain (versus the OP3T) is more audio/music centric features, and an SD slot. Although the OP3T speakers still sound pretty good, even with a single bottom firing speaker.

I never understood why people keep asking what phone should they buy. Most people just buy their phones only to be seen by other people what a great phone they have. Personally, I buy the phone that I like the looks of it and which fits my needs. And that`s how I got my OP 3T. Before buying it, I`ve seen some reviews which 90% were pretty good for me. The things I wanted most were amazing performance, battery that gets me through 1 day, fast charging, a stock android with a lot customize options. OP 3T has all of them. Have to mention that I had the chance to buy S7 Edge and HTC 10 at around 400 euros. But again, 3T had all the things I need, so I went for it.
Its sad to buy things just to have the best one from the market. Its not like you buy a Buggati Veiron, just to have the fastest car in your city. Same goes for the phones. Just buy whatever you like most and whatever fits your daily needs. If you want performance, go for OP3T, S7,S7 edge, htc 10, Moto Z and so on. If you want photography, go for Moto Z and buy yourself the camera mods, and so on. its very simple

I really not looking for best in market...
I just think that the 10 is better for me and I don't know if I'm right
I need a very (very) good camera
A very good battery
A good performance
A decent screen (at least 400 PPI)
And decent build quality
What phone do you think will be the best for me?
(It will be nice to have OLED display, usb-c, 4+- ram, and SD slot if less than 64 GB)
depends what you want I've gone from a Mi5 128GB to a OP3T and not sure if I regret it or not, the size is a pain for me, yes it's great for media, but daily use on the move the smaller size of the Mi5 was awesome.
Both great phones, but for different reasons.

Well, they aren't the same price for me. And I'm not a big fan of making that judgment, based on a hypothetical situation that doesn't exist for me.
They are both very solid phones, and there is no reason to feel "stupid" in any case. Everyone has different preferences and opinions on what constitutes the "best" for them. So at the end of the day, the only "right" or "wrong" decision lies with you, not what others think.

I had some reservations about moving to a larger screen/phone myself. But honestly, now that I have the OP3T, I'm really liking having a bit larger screen. Not just for video, but for web browsing, and other things. As long as it fits in my pocket, who cares if its a bit bigger? I seriously think I've have trouble going back to a smaller screen at this point.
Jey guys quick question im moving from the s8+ to the note 9 and I was wondering which size should I get 128gb or 512 is it worth getting bigger size
Why are you asking a question only you know the answer to? Do you need a lot of internal storage based on your phone usage or not?
I was asking for suggestions Ive heard some people state that its not worth getting the bigger version

yea it really boils down to if you really need it as far as your use...what space your using now? also, who you plan on getting it through tmobile or sammy
This reminds me of a recent situation I witnessed at a Mexican restaurant. Somebody with an iPhone X sat down at the bar and was offered chips and salsa, which 99 times out of a 100 are complimentary at Mexican restaurants. He replied do I have to pay for it. I'm not pointing out the economics of this. I am pointing out you have a very expensive option of 128GB or 512GB and your only response so far is you've read the 512GB is not worth it.
Things that make you go hmmmm...
On the average people went for.....

It's very subjective. I can say for me, the 128GB version with my 256GB sd card is overkill. I will never come close to filling up either the internal storage or the sd card and I download a ton of YouTube and Plex videos to watch offline while I'm flying.
Ok cool thanks for the info that was given with the poll and personal views
Yeah bit of a daft question really.
I got the 128, should I have got the 512?
See, just like that one ?

It is a silly question though, it's like me starting a thread to ask everyone whether I like chicken, or fish ?

128GB is probably more than enough storage for your app and game data. As you could use the microSDCard to store all your other data

It's a bit like me asking my partner if she wanted my 12 inch penis or his 2 inch penis. We've been happily married now for 10 years! Just go with the set rule....(see what I did there, 12 inches- Rule).

I recommend getting the 8GB/512GB model, but, more so for the extra RAM than the extra storage.
I would have liked to seen a 3rd option placed between the two, with 8GB RAM / 256GB storage.
