Elude US ban by faking device info | unlock codes - Huawei P30 Pro Questions & Answers

Hej,
I'm wondering... with root access to a lets say P30 Pro or other Huawei device. Shouldn't it be possible to fake the device information e.g. to a Samsung S10+ or whatever, such that the play store or other crucial Apps thinks they're running on a Samsung device and elude the current / upcoming restrictions? So for example installing software / automated updates via play store should be possible?
It seems at the moment rooting is difficult, mainly because Huawei stopped giving out bootloader unlock keys (https://www.xda-developers.com/xda-huawei-decision-stop-bootloader-unlocking/). Wouldn't it be wise for Huawei to start giving out unlock codes again in this whole US ban story with the described idea above? It might address just a fraction of users, but still... this method could become more public (if working).
And did they stop giving out codes? Why are people in the Huawei forum asking for codes (a lot of requests still this month)? Do they perhaps still get codes via support? (see https://forum.huawei.com/enterprise/en/General-Community/forum/100289)
I'm thinking about still buying a P30 Pro but just with having the above mentioned "Device Fake" in mind and that it seems that I need an unlock code to perform this fake.
Would like to hear your thoughts on this
thanks

If you root you can fake the device.
My GPD XD + has been faked in the custom Rom to make it appear as a Galaxy so it can download more apps.

OEM Unlock option grayed out in developer options.

Is there anyone for whom the OEM Unlock option in developer options is not grayed out?
So far from my research, it's always grayed out, so I'm trying to gather information about it, and see if there are any situations in which it is not grayed out.
Tested so far:
European Mate 20 Pro - Grayed out, so bootloader can't be unlocked with code.
Demo Mate 20 Pro - Grayed out, so bootloader can't be unlocked with code.
Chinese Mate 20 Pro - No such option, so bootloader can be unlocked successfully.
i thought it was huaweis new policy to not allow anyone to unlock the BL
Will the Mate 20 Pro sell in Southeast Asia to be grayed out too? Hopefully not, since I wont upgrade my Mate 10 Pro to this flagship if I cannot root the device (fully owned the device system).
Hmm this is a concern to me. As much as this device is amazing, root at the very least is important let alone custom roms! Hmm
**** this is a serious problem !! if they all start to block the bootloader is a real peoblema!
What do you guys root for? Genuine question, I'm sure you have valid use cases, I've just never had a need to.

Macrodroid (for automation tasks etc.), system wide ad blocking (directly mod the hosts file without any battery draining app or vpn), titanium backup for app backups, uninstalling system apps/debloating, system app/user app themes (black, making most of that oled screen). Shortcutter, as app that adds loads more quick settings.
With magisk manager, custom modules such as vanced YouTube and the amazing viper4android a system wide equaliser. Some developers create custom performance/battery enhancement scripts that vastly improve stock performance. Plus some custom features roms have app ops which greatly allows app level permission.
Not to mention custom roms with additional features bringing to the user experience. But I'm fearful at present!
I'm awaiting the Mate 20 Pro arriving on Friday and listed my Pixel 2 XL for sale. I've messaged @topjohnwu who seemingly may be the only person who could help with making root possible. But with the bootloader unlock situation this may prove rather difficult. Especially given hearing about the greyed out OEM unlock option, but perhaps full retail releases will allow it, here's hoping anyways....

try with this solution!
You have to reset your device while the sim card is in the device , then in the setup you have to log in to your both google and samsung accounts , then wait 7 days , and it should appear , if it doesnt appearing simply use google to check how to fix the missing OEM Unlock option
I remember the days with the Xperia Z3, where the bootloader was also locked. Still it was possible to unlock it after someone found a way. We know that nothing is secure, so I hope for out great developers to fix this in the future!
Or do you think it will be simply imposssible without the Code?

See attached for my email conversation with Funky Huawei.
Seems that so long as we can check that setting then perhaps they can generate an unlock code with our IMEI number. I've used their service before for firmware flashing, they're reputable.
Just hope it's possible....
We can now offer bootloader unlock codes for all Huawei models (including recent models like P20, P20 Pro, Honor Play, and so on.)
These unlock codes can be provided for free to customers who purchase an unlimited pass from today.
See details here:
So we would just need a hack that enables the tick in developer options.

I guess so yeah, but also I remain hopeful that perhaps retail devices (as opposed to the early release ones that people seem to have early) may have the option....
@BurningRain, you have a retail verison, can please check if you can tick/untick the OEM unlock option in the developer settings?

On older huawei devices (Honor9, Honor10, HuaweiP20), I noticed after the device is totally erased (low level format, cache wiped and settings to factory defaults) : you had to connect to internet to get the OEM Unlock option to not be greyed out.
So maybe it will be enabled on huawei's server side in a few days...

I'm guessing you meant 'google playstore account' by 'samsung account'...
Did you enable it yourself on your Mate 20 Pro ? which cust variant ?
Interesting...
Just watched this video:
4 Reasons I SWITCHED to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro | The Tech Chap
And at 3:10 I noticed that the option (on his presumably prelease device, given he is from the UK but has a 2 pin charger and not UKL 3 pin) is greyed out and interestingly says "connect to the internet or contact your network provider" under the OEM unlock option - see attached screen snip
Hmm.....!

Questions for Chinese model users only

Hi
This is a post directed to anyone who owns/has purchased their X50 5G from China as I am trying to confirm that they have the same issues with their phone as me, or whether my issues are specific to my phone, so thanks in advance!
I've run the phone from factory reset a few times as I've encountered a few problems or have noticed differences to what the user guide says to what the phone displays within the menus.
Most importantly (for me) is the fact that their is no Google Location History available. Even before adding an account, if I go to Additional settings > Google > Account services > Location > More Settings I get access to Emergency Location Services, Google Location Accuracy but Google Location History is greyed out and so cannot be tuned on when logged in, the device is not registered for location history.
Also, once Google Assistant is installed and set up, if the Home button is pressed for the allotted time, it may appear, but no voice recognition works, even when the app is selected as the default option. Also, I've noted that within the user guide and online, I've seen an option within the Convenience Aid (although on my phone its called Convenience Tools) menu called Awake Google Assistant, but my phone does not have that.
Maybe it's just that I haven't set the correct permissions as they are way more complicated than standard Android settings, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.
In fact there seems to be a lot of differences between what the user guide says and what's actually on the phone.
I've also noticed that conference calls do not seen to work when I get two calls and try to merge.
Can anyone provide any useful comments to either say that they experience the same, or it works from stock, or how to resolve any of the above?
Cheers
I have this same phone same issues, plus you can't set google messages or any other messaging app as default, you can't remove there app market. And NO GOOGLE DISCOVER ON LEFT SWIPE SCREEN.

According to it, it is almost impossible to unlock or root Chinese models. I had it and I better sold it

Wow, i might be opted for the same. This Chinese models or best to say it...Realme fails as a brand. It's their responsibility. It's pretty much obvious they sell stupid products. per se they have their own brand or the **** they care about global consumers..ad why they make it available outside their country.
Realme is a stupid brand nothing more. I'll try to sell this trash too.

Did you tried long press VOL- + Power button till power up ?
I just remembered there're some functions could recovery the phone over WiFi in the factory recovery mode.
BTW, In your case, I certainly unlocked my RMX2051 through In-depth test apk file for X50 Pro version.
If your don't mind, maybe you could post how did you recovery your phone in the future.
Good luck.

Unlocking Bootloader

Hi,
I have seen this posted a number of times and people keep saying "just Google" or "look at other threads" however I am confused as to what they mean because none of the stuff around seems valid anymore in 2021.
Right now:
There is no modern up to day process to unlock the bootloader that I can find in Google (even if only looking at the last 1 months sites)
I have found so far is telling me to get an unlock bootloader from Huawei which I can't do (they don't offer it any more)
I have found sites telling me to pay for the bootloader code from funkyhuawei, site that no longer offers them, someone posted about "Direct unlock with no code" but didn't go into details on how that is done, and then I found this on rootmygalaxy:
" Update 2021: All the bootloader unlocking methods have been blocked by Huawei. So none of the methods is working currently. Don’t try to unlock Huawei or Honor devices as of now. For full timeline of events read the story below. We will be updating the post once there is a valid way available. "
So, is that basically meaning that Huawei P20 cannot be unlocked; therefore you cannot root it? If it can be unlocked still can someone, please post a link to how because Google is failing to find anything that is, in fact, working or the information being shared isn't clear enough to explain what is possible.
I am trying to just get information as to if I am wasting my time trying to root this phone, or if it is, in fact, possible or not.
BTW - I have seen {Mod edit} however this only works on EMU 9 or lower. If you are EMU 10 you have to roll back, but it appears Huawei have prevented this (hiSuite doesn't offer the options any more).

Okay, this has been fixed - so I am doing the roll-back now. If that works, I will try the URL included in the port above and then report back, so if people want to know what is possible.
Okay ... um.... they need to remote onto your computer and do it.... that is totally unacceptable.
So basically, there is no way that I can see that allows "ME" to unlock the bootloader, and instead you are allowing people to access your computer, so they can do it.

@Goldendawn Thread has been cleaned from links and references to paid unlock services that are not accepted at all on XDA in accordance with rule no. 11 and no. 13 of the XDA Forum Rules.

Talk to the Mecri seller about the issue. The simplest way unlock FPR is using original Google account password. Or you can download an APK to bypass FPR. Google search returns many tools to bypass.
I can't stand reading content when obviously someone needs real answers not being advised to take it to a repair shop. XdA is about people coming together to help share code and troubleshoot devices. Some of you guys are so green. You must not have made the cut to work for google.

some people don't like giving out info that would be useful to people who steal phones.
I was successful on att version I was on Android 10 but I had to upgrade to 11 bootloader 2 to work..I used a moto g7 plus as my device to transfer google account with smart switch and it only worked with wireless transfer not OTG.. The software i used is the same in all the videos that boots you to chrome or YouTube after you disable antivirus and signature verification in windows 7/8/10/11....I found one updated video that had the most important information because i spent two weeks stuck on failure to launch chrome script and searching and I hate that Indian techno dub step music...lol... USE WINRAR ONLY TO UNPACK THE PROGRAMS WINDOWS UNPACK 7ZIP OR TERMINAL UNPACK FAILS.... then once you chrome YouTube scroll to version then feedback then find rom in search bar select Samsung store update then select smartswitch to restore backup google account and lock screen pattern... Profit..and no I didn't steal mine mine was an unclaimed repair bad info and 60 days later I'm the official owner registered on samsung.com and brought it back to att as byop....until I purchased carrier unlock from carrierunlocker.net for $25...

Hello world!

Hello,
Registered some time ago, but recently starting lurking and viewing information on this forum. As you guys created a special forum for introductions I decided it would be nice to create a small and brief introduction.
I am an all-time iPhone user looking to expand his horizon and see what's possible on Android. I've never really interacted with it but because of my interest with phones and IT I would love to get started! I didn't buy a phone yet, but I am looking to do so in about 1-2 weeks. It will be a midrange smartphone (budget ~€500) so if you have any recommendations I would love to hear them. I have my eyes on a Samsung Galaxy S21 or S22. That or the newly introduced Sony Experia 10 V.
Hope to learn and share a lot in the future. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!
Cheers!
First thing is some countries have strict lockout functions on their devices. So i would check to see if that applies to limits you may or not have available . IPhone is verry limited to the user and not for someone trying to write or execute code .Though you can install a terminal emulator on iphone , but it wont allow you to do much except view limited lists of whats stored in the device . Execute command higher functions and access to system files are not allowed . Android phones provide alot of options when you want to customize. in 2023 google has been putting limits on what they allow to install from play store. Programs that use SU have been restricted to features and may require going 3rd party to download. Be shure to research everything about the 3rd party before downloading because it's at your own risk .I would strongly recommend getting ProtWal firewall. It helps control alot of app running amuck online that can leak information , drain battery , and slow browsing experience .You need to understand alot about the system apk. and what you install to determine what to , and not block from wifi or data access. Some are providing security and shouldn't be blocked .Next is getting a good anti-virus software like Avast and use the app locker to prevent unauthorized access .If you getting a phone in Android 13 you have a ton of settings and research to do on how to set up you device settings security and what bloatware you wish to disable .It took me a few weeks to discover all the things that can or not be done .If you buy a phone through you mobile carrier it may have some features locked that you can't change unless you paid the device off and services to get an IMIE unlock code to gain access to any carriers you want . Samsung and Google also took alot of liberties with their new devices by forcing updates regardless of the user wishes to accept or not .So if your going into use with SU programming you may want to buy a phone online that has been rooted and unlocked from any carrier again check for trusted sources before buying .One phone thats pretty reasonable priced and waterproof is the s20 fe 5g .It has a hudge amount of memory and supports Micro SD cards decent camera display and nice size screen for viewing. Still it can fit into a pocket .Otter case also provides excellent protection against dropping and never had one break yet ...Hope this helps ...Happy hunting
