Hi.
I'm running a clean flash of eu miui 9.6.20 and the ambient display doesn't show any incoming notification icons (gmail, WhatsApp, SMS).
I tried changing the notification to icons, and all kinds of other changes and none helped.
If someone here had the same problem and was able to fix it by changing some settings, I'd be happy to here about it.
Thanks!
It is not a problem, it is a decision of Xiaomi. If you install xiaomi eu you can see all notifications for all apps

I don't understand... I was using EU MIUI when I asked the question
Xiaomi eu, i don't know what do you mean with "eu miui", shows all notifications, if you have the one i said there is an issue, try format.

We're taking about the same ROM; when I google for it I type eu MIUI, but yes - your name is the accurate one.
Anyway - I found the solution: I had 'skip screen lock' enabled ( it is under developer options).
Disabling this option got all the notification icons back to AOD.

Mind taking a screenshot of the option. I just want to verify if I really don't have it on mine. Cause I can't seem to find it

Odd, mine is greyed out, no wonder I thought it's not there. Particularly hard to read it when in dark mode and lowest brightness lol.
It seems disabled. But doesn't show all notifications in aod. Also seems like u're running same OS as me

I don't know if it's a bug in the EU rom or a general bug but having window transitions scale on 1x pressing the ... button in the top right corner makes the menu not play the animation. It appears instantly. Having it set to off makes the animation play correctly but makes the notification shade appear instantly. Any ideas why this is? I am on the latest 7.3. 4.0

I know. I would have but I can't seem to create an account. I am not receiving the confirmation email. However I did a full wipe and tried different versions of the eu rom and all have the same problem. I will try the official global stable rom to confirm it's a xiaomi.eu rom bug.
EDIT: Yes it is a xiaomi.eu rom bug. It does not happen on official global rom.

Hey all,
I've had my Mi8 Global edition (currently running 10.0.3 global stable) for about a month now and I've noticed an issue on Facebook Messenger where the app loads weirdly (see 1st screenshot) and then after about a second or 2 it corrects itself. Is there any fix for this? I tried going into the screen settings and making Messenger not a full screen app but the option is locked. I also tried hiding the notch and this did nothing as well...
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Also, on my AOD (Always on Display) only certain apps notifications appear, is there a fix for this yet on the Global stable rom? AND is there a way to make app icon notifications appear on the status bar if you do not have the Chinese Version?
Thanks all!

Jesus, how I hate it!!! And Google knows nothing about this behavior...
Yeah so far it's only Facebook messenger that does it and I've realised it's when you get the "xxxx xxxx is now active" notifications that appear in the spot where the status bar is supposed to be. Has no one figured out how to fix it?

You could always lower the dpi of the screen to something below 480.
AOD is a common issue which is miui issue and I don't think there's a work around.
The icons situation won't be available until android pie of miui10 is released. You'll need to wait till end of 2018 or beginning of 2019.
So I just got my Mi 9 after deciding to move over from my Samsung galaxy S8. I don't understand what the hell is going on with the notifications it's really putting me off this phone after using for 2 days. From the lockscreen I can't see any notifications. Status bar just shows the time. I've checked "show icons for incoming notifications" in the notifications and status bar settings. However it only shows the icons for a few seconds before showing the clock again. Pretty inconvenient that I have to unlock and swipe the status bar down just to see my notifications.
I find it ridiculous that all these manufactures are making funny notches and cutout around the screen to increase screen-to-body ratio and increase size but fail to use all that space extra space to not only enhance user experience but to show important information that I could see easily on my previous smaller screen devices.
Am I missing something or is this how Xiaomi intend their users to view notifications?
Yes, that is the way to show notifications. I come from Mi 8 and it was the same. I'm really waiting for a update soon, because this mistake again is unacceptable.

Bump. I read the problem was solved in a recent OTA but it's not for me. My notifications disappear after a second. It's very frustrating
Any update here? This Feature/Bug ist unacceptable!

Yes, it seems to be solved since version 17 of stable ROM together with the toggle to disable the artificial rouding of the notch but for some reason this update was not pushed OTA to everyone.
I'm stuck on version 15. Maybe they found bugs and pulled it or it's only available for some other chanels (on EEA here)...
Do you have a screenshot of the fix? I am on version 15 too. Cant wait for fix...

I am on EEA 17, it's not fixed there. It's only fixed in global betas, which we can't get without unlocking bootloader.
Only disabling the notch extra rounding is there, but no notification icons, which is indeed stupid.
Maybe for some guys a quick help:
Search for Notch Notifications for MIUI.
That way notifications get shown under the clock...
New problem after it was fixed by Xiaomi
If u hide the notch, the notifications cut off right before the notch even tho there isn't a notch preventing them

Its like that now on Android, it only shows 5 icons. On my Mi A2 running Android One, it would cut even if there is no notch. Worse, it does that even on the system icons at the right.

Ow thanks for that insightful comment. Huh, didn't realise that's the case. Wondering how i didn't notice this when I had OnePlus 5T where I used Oxygen OS, some AOSP based and some Lineage OS based ROMs on pie but somehow didn't take notice. Maybe the status bar was shorter on it causing smaller icons so more fit in that width. Or maybe because this one has curve in corners unlike 5T which reduces usable space

I just got my Mi 9 yesterday.
I'm on the latest global MIUI version 10.2.13.0.
I went to the camera settings > custom water mark.
I changed it to something like "Mine's phone", but after taking the photo, it still shows "AI Triple Camera".
I asked my local facebook forums about it, and their Mi9 had a "save" button when changing the custom watermark.
Mine had no save button.
Same issue on my device by same MiUI version.
Seems like it's a bug and I think It will be fixed in next update.:good:

Weird bug, others who have the same MIUI version (same phone of course) don't have that issue.
I tried changing my region to India, and still not working.

I fixed it. Just press on the top right corner of the screen on the custom watermark setting.
There is a checkmark there, but its hidden (bug).
