What is my Note 8? n950u, but has ATT firmware - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Hello all,
Super confused by my newly purchased amazon renewed note 8. I was under the impression I was buying a refurbished unlocked device, but upon powerup I get the ATT logo. My previous device was an unlocked Note 8 (I destroyed the screen) which I was running on ATT, but I never had anything other than the Samsung logos on boot up, this phone is loaded with ATT apps and stuff, it basically looks like a carrier phone.
My question is what exactly is this franken phone:
From About Phone:
Model Number: SM-N950U
Baseband Version: N950USQU5ARF1
Android Version 8.0.0
Samsung Experience: 9.0
Build number: R16NW.N950USQS5RID
My desire is to get this as close to a stock unlocked Note 8 like I had, or some other debloated rom. What are my options, or how should I treat this device? Just like an unlocked Note 8 or an ATT Note 8?
This is the snapdragon version too correct?
While we're at it, anybody want to suggest a lightweight/good battery rom for this device?
Thank you so much, I've never had trouble doing root/roms but this phone is confusing, heck even getting adb working kicked my ass for a few hours.
Thanks

Using T-Mobile or Other Firmware on AT&T Note 3?

Is it possible? Thinking about Getting a Note 3, But I don`t like the changes AT&T makes. For an example The data icons AT&T puts in there and all the AT&T to go junk. Anyone Flash T-Mobile or other firmwares on there AT&T Note 3? Back when I had my AT&T Note 1 I flashed the N7005 International Rom on it, same went with my Note 2.

The SM-N900A or at&t note 3 has a locked bootloader. This prevents us from installing a custom recovery and flashing other firmware. So unfortunately at this time you won't be able to flash anything. If you were to obtain one anyway and it came preloaded with Kit Kat, you won't even be able to obtain root access. If you are lucky enough to obtain one with android 4.3 you can obtain root. There's even a work around for 4.3 called safestrap. Safestrap allows us to install tweeked roms. But there's not that many of them compared to the previous note versions you use to have.
Many at&t note 3 owners have sold or traded for the T-Mobile variant. The T-Mobile note 3 bootloader is unlocked.
I hope that gives you some insight.

Thank you! Must be the reason why the T-Mobile one will cost me about $35 more used. If I got the T-Mobile Version I might not even root. I just hate what AT&T Does with the Software.
Is there even root on theAT&T Note 3? on 4.4.2? I dont care about tripping Knox as long as it doesnt harm anything

No. There is no root for 4.4.2 as of yet. Avoid the ATT version if at all possible.
BTW thanks for hosting those LG firmwares. It has been very helpful in returning my phones to oem state.

Theres a local Note 3 well somewhat local Note 3 but its AT&T
Been looking at a T-mobile Note 3 for a few days on Swappa for $435
What's the price difference between the 2? I would try the Att if you can get it for under 370. If over that I would do the T-Mobile version. The unlock bootloader is worth it. Just make sure it is paid off (T-Mobile version) before you buy it.

Unlock/Root Samsung Note 3 (SM-N900A)

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I used to have AT&T as a carrier for the phone, now I do not have a carrier. I want to unlock my phone and preferably not pay for it I tried the method outlined at android and me and several other site, ( it involves using the number *#197328640#)
I was unable to use this method because I could not find a UMTS menu.
The only other way I found to unlock the phone was to root it. I wanted to use Odin and CF Auto Root to do but I could not find a version for my device, (Samsung-SM-N900A).
Do you guys have any suggestions for me?
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum.

Im in the same place need to Root At&t galaxy note 3 5.0 N900a where can I find the files
You can only network unlock the phone with a code.
As far as I know, all of the note series is carrier unlocked. if it's not, you have to call your respective carrier and ask them to unlock it. Rooting your phone is another story. I just got off live chat with Samsung and they can't remove the bootloader lock on my OC2 N900a. This will prevent me from buying any other samsung product in the future, not even considering the note 7 b.s.
The n900a is an at&t phone and pretty much every at&t phone is carrier and bootloader locked. Same goes for sprint and Verizon.
Didn't realize oc2 also had the n900a as I thought the U.K. And Europe had the n9005.
Most of the note phones sold by a carrier are network locked.

Samsung unlocked galaxy note thinks it's on sprint

Hey guys so I tried to root my Samsung unlocked galaxy note 8. And I messed up. So I found a "return to stock" thread but every rom I've downloaded that says it's the USA unlocked version. When I boot it up. It says its searching for a sprint signal. I don't know what to do. I thought I had it fixed. I got the notification to go away. But I just want it back to the way it was out the box. Any suggestions?

1) What carrier are you on?
2) What firmware did you use?
3) What is your N8 model? F? FD? U?
4) Taking the SIM out, power cycling and putting the SIM back in doesn't work?
You must provide better details of your actions if you want help.

It's the unlocked samsung galaxy note 8. Unlocked straight from the factory. I am on verizon. I used firmware N950U1UEU3CRC1_N950U1OYM3CRC1_XAA from one of the posts. I am unsure of what model it is. and yes I did do a power cycle. I'm just trying to get it back to the firmware it was on. It's the Factory unlocked variant USA.

Sprint Note 9 Carrier Unlocked Question

So my note 9 has been unlocked finally. I was curious can I load the stock "Stock" rom from samsung or am I still stuck with Sprint's stock rom? Will it trip knox? To put it simply I want to remove sprints branding as much as possible.
Thank You,
Bubona
