Need help with James e5play PLEASE! - Moto E5 Questions & Answers

I have been in the same circles like 5 times ??
Unlocked bootloader.
Flash twrp (STILL don't know which one is best?)
Flash noverity.img
Boot into twrp
Adb fstab and stuff
Flash magisk
Boot loop.
I just discovered if I fb flash the stock boot here I'm good.
I can boot back to twrp and flash lineage but I have issues with it like no hotspot (which I need), stock message doesn't work (fb messenger does for sms though) and no camera (which I need) .
I've fully restored stock in fastboot multiple times.
I just want stock, twrp, magisk, Xposed.
Where am I going wrong?

I want do clean install so I evrything wipe expect user data. And there problems started. I haven't installed twrp, this warning shows up and i can't root device on 4.0.2 and 4.1.6. Aslo i can't install roms by sideload (?)
I tried full wipe data - don't work. I was looking in the forum Oneplus any tutorial didin't work.
I tried this tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/fix-dm-verity-warning-final-fix-4-0-3-t3555094 to remove warning. It works but after update from 4.0.2 to 4.1.6 warning screen again came back. It started after updating 4.1.6 to 4.1.7.
If you can slowe this problem I will be grateful. And i sorry for my engilsh

If you want a "clean" install, user data is the most important thing to wipe; as it is the mostly likely thing to cause problem (on a new ROM, etc.).
Not related to the other issues you mentioned. But important to note, anyway.

I'm confused. If you haven't installed TWRP, how you are trying to root? You need TWRP, in order to root.
Also, sideload can be more problematic than just flashing a ROM in TWRP. My suggestion, would be to stop messing around, and just flash TWRP.
* I wanted to write that After installing update 4.1.6 as well as on the factory as a TWRP warning appears.
*On TWRP can't root device, TWRP think the su ZIP archives od broken.
*And TWRP by bluetooth Spark can't decrypt device (my old password od bot working )
Device works fine by In addition to the aforementioned problems
Hi,
As I have to send back my 3T for RMA, I spendt almost two nights with reading lots of guides about how to remove that red warning. The usual methods (flashing 4.0.2 FW and trying "dm_verity_disable/enable" with fastboot or reboot with "enforce_dm_verity", etc..) did not work at all. I ended up by this way:
- With 4.1.6 ROM flash TWRP (boot into bootloader, "fastboot flash recovery <filename>"
- In bootloader "fastboot format userdata" (this will remove encryption)
- Reboot to recovery (don't let the OS boot, otherwise you can start again)
- Flash SuperSU 2.79 (don't ask why, I guess this is needed for the encryption removal as well)
- Reboot to OS, check that encrytion is removed (in security settings, at the bottom you should see "Encrypt phone" instead of "Phone encrypted")
- Reboot recovery, flash OOS 3.5.4
- Reboot to OS, now the red warning should be removed
- Encrypt your phone (optional, if you like that way)
- Download 4.1.6 OOS image on the phone and use System update in the settings with local update to get back to 4.1.6
You should have 4.1.6 now without the red warning. If you want to get rid of the orange warning as well, you can flash the stock recovery and lock the bootloader back.
After that my phone was like an original one... With leaving some of these steps out, I always got failed..
I wrote this by memory (performed that yesterday), so it's possible I forgot something, but feel free to write a PM and I try to help. Of course the process will wipe all your data, so backup everything you need...

Can you link for your SuperSU zip and TWRP?

TWRP for Oneplus 3T
SuperSU 2.79 for Oneplus 3T
After flashing su zip I want to check if I have encrypted phone and boot frozen.
So I go to recovery and install 4.1.6 rom and i get information "Error opening: '/data/system/ndebugsocet' no such file or directory"
Again something went wrong
Edit: Somehow I just install 4.0.2 (again bootloop), and stock recovery (i booted to recovery 2 times and on second try recovery ask me for password(?) so i wiped device). Everything was fine expect dm verity. At this point I give up. So having everything stock i just use ota (4.0.2>4.1.6) and this was probobly the key for success.
In the evening I will try root my device and see if everything is good.

Have you flashed TWRP and 3.5.4 first? Have you used bootloader with "fastboot format userdata" before flashing supersu (remembering that after this, normal boot should not start before supersu is flashed)?
Also I am not sure if flashing 3.5.4 image will update the firmware as well, but for safety, you might try to flash that as well: Oneplus 3T Firmware collection
I didn't flash 3.5.4 at all, just 4.0.2. I used "fastboot format userdata" in bootloader. And then there was a problem (boot loop.). And after that i booted into recovery(I had then stock) asked me for password )At this point I did not have any) so I wiped my device again (recovery suggest it). The device turned on normally, but still i had dm verity. Finally I updated by OTA to 4.1.6 and dm verity screen was gone.
At this point I install TWRP and rooted, without any problem.
So i think fix for this situation was going back to full stock and use OTA. (Again sorry for my English, I trying my best)

Need quick help, I beg you all, Flash ROM from fastboot?

Hello,
I tried to flash some stock 9.0.0 firmware on my P20 pro and now I have some weird bootloop.
When I boot up my device I get a flash for a second full of random colors and then the device starts to boot up.
Devices boots up normally but after one minute of using the device it gets in to reboot.
I have my backup from 8.1.0.0 via TWRP but now my TWRP encrypts all data, I tried several TWRP and on every TWRP data are encrypted.
My question guys:
Can I flash ROM from fastboot because this is the only thing that I can do?
I have even tried to go to eRecovery (i managed to flash stock recovery) and when I want to download stock ROM from recovery it says that I have no packages available for download.

Stock boot.img is not booting on boot_b

Hi there,
I've been rooting phones since Android 2, but lately it has been quite a challenge.
What I did so far:
Unpack new Xiaomi MI A2 (jasmine) device
Enabled Developer, USB debugging, OEM unlock in Android settings
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
Code:
fastboot flash boot_b TWRP-3.2.3-jasmine-20180804.img
TWRP ran fine. However, started with boot_a again.
OTA updated (about 6 times) to the newest version (Android 10, QKQ1.190910.002 V11.0.12.0.QDIMIXM)
Code:
fastboot flash boot_b twrp-3.4.0-0-jasmine_sprout.img
TWRP started only to the splash screen (showing "teamwin" and "Recovery Project 3.4.0-0"). Why is TWRP not starting properly?
Downloaded the stock fastboot image V11.0.12.0.QDIMIXM from https ://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/miui/jasmine/ and flash the stock boot.img via
Code:
fastboot flash boot_b jasmine_global_images_V11.0.12.0.QDIMIXM_10.0/images/boot.img
(my goal is to later patch it with Magisk and then install the patched version). However, the stock boot.img just hangs forever on the androidone screen. Why is the stock boot.img not starting properly?
I haven't used the Mi Unlock app and I didn't do an "fastboot flashing unlock_critical" yet. Is this necessary? What do I have to do to make the boot images work?

why do you feel you must use boot images ...the tried and working method for "jasmine" is to boot custom recovery and then flash magisk zip ( root only ) ..or...flash custom recovery installer zip which will flash recovery to both a/b slots.. then flash magisk
to properly boot you need to overcome stuff like secure boot and force encryption
if you aren't planning on custom roms just boot twrp to flash magisk
or
flash installer zip for recovery and wipe everything including formatting data to remove encryption and boot directly to recovery to install custom rom
twrp custom recovery had problems with decryption on stock rom ...secure boot won't allow booting modified images ..
lastly remember on jasmine there is no recovery partition..so everything is in the boot image ..magisk and recovery ..so everytime you flash stock , stock boot overwrites these changes and should flash everything again
tbh that's why i converted to wayne to get old partition layout as the A/B story pissed me off

Ok. So I'm back to Stock image jasmine_global_images_V11.0.12.0.QDIMIXM_10.0 by executing "flash_all.sh". You are saying I should "simply boot". You mean:
Code:
fastboot boot TWRP-3.4.0-0-jasmine_sprout-for_V11.0.12.0.img
right? That doesn't work, it won't boot. How do I overcome secure boot and force encryption?

yes im saying that but post a pic of the error ...why or how doesn't it boot ..
if it is the official twrp just dump it and look for the unofficial Russian one or one modified by Nebrassy or use Orange fox and or Pitch black ..official is broken last time i checked
also the name of that looks like one hell of a job ..shorten it to
recovery.img or twrp.img
fastboot boot recovery.img
but first run
fastboot getvar all
& also run fastboot flashing unlock_critical
but most importantly get another recovery
& i don't want to insult your intelligence but after flashing stock did you check to make sure bootloader was still unlocked and that dev settings was activated and that adb was toggled to on and that you authorised adb again
basicall after stock boot device and do the above ..plug in usb ..toggle adb ..authorise ..run adb devices ..if you see your device ..adb reboot bootloader ..fastboot devices ..see your device ..fastboot getvar all ..see bootloader is unlocked ..fastboot flashing unlock_critical if not done yet ...make sure to do ALL the above again after data gets wiped.....put twrp in adb folder ( MUST BE UNOFFICIAL RUSSIAN OR MODUFIED BY NEBRASSY ..rename to revovery.img ...fastboot boot recovery.img .. use file manager to put magisk.zip on internal then flash ..then reboot to rooted phone with stock recovery ...

Of course it is the official one. OMFG twrp-3.4.0-0-jasmine_sprout.img is broken (freezes on the TWRP splash screen), but version 3.3.1 seems to work. That's a relief, so I will try to flash magisk now. Although, I think I will need to do the decryption thing for jasmine first, but I guess I'll follow https://www.the***********.com/install-twrp-recovery-root-xiaomi-mi-a2-a2-lite/ mostly

jajaja well now you know ...be careful ...some "official" roms are also more buggy than unofficial ones for Jasmine/Wayne..
LOS is an example ..so be forewarned .. if you like android 1 i guess stock rooted is a smart option to keep updates and keep device certified for google stuffs . .
alternativeky go FULL custom rom because stock and custom recovery is just a pain and not worth the hassle on an A/B treble device flashable by fastboot ..just boot the recovery when if ever needed
fyi ..you can flash magisk and it will boot ...if you don't try changing the recovery ..so you can have stock rooted with magisk without rcustom recovery...* recommended by me if you only wamt stock with root
Sent from my wayne using XDA Labs
All good now, thanks for your help! I just flashed Magisk (and also TWRP) and everything works nicely! I will need to get some experience, but I'll keep in mind that I maybe want to get rid of the TWRP recovery. Finally security testing is fun again. Thx!

How to get Root+CustomKernel Android 11?

hey guys i bought Pixel 4xl few days ago and today i decided to unlockbootloader and start flashing ...
i know a lot about fastboot and things like that , i came from a heavily moded pixel 2.
i can't get my head around how to root it and have a custom kernel at the same time.
i unlocked my phone then got a magiskpatchedboot.img .. i tried many combinations , i tried flashing the kernel first then rebooting to bootloader then flashing magisk patched , it didn't work , no luck for the other way around '' flashing magisk patched boot then booting to twrp then flashing Kirisakura kernel.
and btw let say that i flashed magiskpatchedboot and that's it the phone will boot normally but after trying to '' fastboot boot twrp.img'' i got stuck at the twrp splash screen/logo .
so to solve this i flash the original boot and dtbo and then boot to stock recovery and then i wipe data and reboot to bootloader and start again..
i just need the steps required... thanks a lot

1.Patch boot image in Magisk
2. Flash patched boot image via fastboot (fastboot flash boot xxxx.img)
3. Install kernel zip via EXKM or FKM (most if not all custom kernels for this device will recognize that you are rooted and will keep root. You also need to be rooted to use EXKM or FKM to flash kernels.)
4. Forget about TWRP, lol. Not supported for Android 11.

Unable to start TWRP (loops)

Hi,
I have C11 RMX2185, unlocked bootloader, installed TWRP and then some roms (pixel experience, next stock android 11, next CipherOS-2.0-KNIGHT)
everything worked fine and I was preparing to try some other ROMS
But now I am unable to enter TWRP (I was, I flashed roms with TWRP before)
In fastboot I do fastboot reboot recovery and TWRP started to load (blue TWRP logo), and it blink and logo, blink - logo,.... forever
I tried to flash boot.img, flash TWRP again, tried another release of TWRP for RMX2185, flashing vbmeta, format userdata, ..... all kind of posibilities without any error but stil unable to run TWRP
I can boot into system (CipherOS-2.0), I can do things in fastboot, when it loops in starting TWRP it is able to react to adb reboot
I run out of ideas.
Thanks in advance for some kicks in the back
