Tree icons in the camera app - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

What do those icons actually do?
Are there different lenses used with each icon or the image just gets digitally zoomed?
Thanks!

They're just zoom shortcuts? I mean, it saves time rather than scrolling to zoom yourself.

I think they do actually switch between the two different lenses as the original poster suggests

The second camera is automatically activated once you go past 2X zoom, if the required conditions are met (Focal distance and brightness I think) so technically you're both right, tapping the button will switch cameras (if conditions are met) but only because it also sets the zoom to 2X.
You can test by covering one of the lenses and changing how bright whatever the camera is looking at.

Camera Fix

So, I downloaded Camera360 pro to test something, since I couldn't find the settings in the stock camera.
Here is the standard blue hue that everyone is complaining about, set on Auto.

and here, I've set it to adjust for flourescent lighting.
So, either you need to download a camera app with these settings, or wait for moto to fix their camera with the proper settings.

Nice! So do you like Camera360 better? Or are you just using it for now until Motorola fixes their camera
I did some experimenting yesterday, and I like Camera 360, but what I found with it, the standard camera and Vignette as well was that the blue pictures come from using the flash. If you turn it off, the pictures come out nicely, assuming there's enough ambient light.

Screen rotation for self pics. Possible? Also time delay pic shooting

Hello all. I was wondering. Can the display rotate so that u can wear the watch with the cam inside to take self pics? I see it rotates when charging. I want to wear it like the pic. Also is there A program for camera that u can click the screen and take the pic after a few seconds?

i'm sure there are some other camera apps that has a timer built in. they should work.
you can use this app to force apps to be displayed in certain way - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate
Yes the app for rotation works fine! Thank you. However no app for camera works. I tried a few and I get crashes. And black screens...
Edit:camera fx works for pics

Camera lens distrotion in 4K mode ?

Hello
I have noticed when I record 4K video that every geometric things have an ugly distortion, like square or rectrangular forms (doors, pictures on the wall, master, etc...)
See my example on my Z3C:
The frame is completly rectangular in reality but in the screen (and in the final video) there is a strange result.

(The black in the middle is normal, made with Paint because family picture )
The wide angle theory is not good for me because the wide angle effect is not in this way but in the exact other way:
So, the usual question: Is that normal and have you that too?
Thanks
Not sure what you did to get it that bad, maybe angle or distance but I can see the same effect on my phone yes.
Fortunately my laptop is not that warped.
See attachment..

Try to take your computer screen and see the difference, have you the same results than me?
Look the difference between auto mode and 4k mode with ugly distortion:
AUTO:
4K:
EDIT:
With steadyshot the issue is not here, it's only in normal 4K.

Taking clearer pictures on the M7?

I know that the M7's camera is nothing to write home about, but some pictures I take come out very sharp and clear, others not so much. I took these two pics minutes apart and (obviously) in the same lighting conditions:

}
#1 is much sharper and clearer than #2. It seems the stock camera app will allow the image to be captured before the camera is finished focusing. Then it's hard to tell if the shot is truly in focus on the small screen. I go home and upload them for editing and find half the shots I take are slightly out of focus. Most of the pics I take are posed or of still subjects, so I don't need instantaneous shots. I'd rather have the app wait the extra split second and focus properly for the clearest possible image.
Is there any way to change the settings in the stock app, or a 3rd party app that will take clearer images? I don't mind spending a few bucks for a paid app if it's good.
Bump.
Anyone?

Question Micro lens photos

I have looked with the search tool but can't find a thread where people post their micro pics, is there one set up?
You mean macro photography?

I'm assuming they use "micro photography" because of the optics' magnification. Macro doesn't normally use magnification?
