This is quite weird. What's happening is whenever I unlock my phone (I always use fingerprint reader), 6 out of 10 times, some random apps open automatically. Previously it is the camera app most of the time. Now I noticed that some other apps are also being opened randomly. No modification is done to my phone. Locked bootloader, no root, stock launcher.
Any idea why it might be happening?

Just wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else. It was either after root, or after installing Xposed, or after installing SuperSU and disabling KNOX, but occasionally my device just resets. It at completely at random times too, but usually it does a quick freeze before it happens. For example in the most recent occasion I closed a tab in google chrome, then it lagged for a second, then just reset. The time before that I just swiped my homescreen to the left and it did the same thing.
Actually mine was doing this before I rooted. Had to be an app we have on our phone or something.

Strange.. I wonder what I installed.
It happened again today, but this time I was driving in my car and it was sitting next to me with the screen off, then suddenly I notice it's at teh AT&T Logo rebooting.
This also started happening to me after rooting and installing a few mods e.g. Xposed, Viper4Android, etc...it hasn't happened since I tried switching to ART (it didn't want to switch, but all sorts of small things were fixed)
Hi!
I have a XT1097 with 4.4.4 unrooted and with lock bootloader, so basically, I haven't touched the phone.
The first thing I did was to activate ART.
There are plenty of apps that are "forcing close" randomly. Some of them are "Spotlight" from Motorola (when I download some of the clips the app force closes and I have to open it again), Safer Taxi is another app, Amazon App is another.
I'm having this problems because I have activated ART? does anybody experiencing this kind of issues?
Cheers
I have the same phone and activated ART, the only thing I found that force closed for me was I sideloaded the lollipop keyboard, everything else seems to work although I don't use the apps you listed.
Ever since the update to Oreo I've been constantly having this issue and it's extremely irritating and can't figure out how to stop it from happening. Basically at least once a day now, sometimes more than once it refuses to use the fingerprint scanner and wants me to enter my password or now my PIN since I switched to the less secure pin just to make it less of a pain everytime this happens and I just want it to go back to working properly so I can have the password again, does anyone know how to fix this issue? It's an unlocked note 8 and it's not rooted or anything, just a stock phone.
It's probably because you're phone has restarted and requires a pin after a restart before it'll use biometrics - It's a problem on Oreo, it's basically just a completely cr*p update that's broken so many things.
Samsung as usual, don't seem to give a stuff!
Nope, it's not a restart that's causing it, that's an entirely different message, especially since the phone's encrypted so the phone won't even start up on a reboot till the encryption password is entered. This is just a it randomly won't accept the fingerprint to unlock, I've turned the phone off then turned it right back on to unlock it and this has happened, 100% certain it had nothing to do with rebooting.
I've read some people saying they had an app that force locked the phone and that causes this and removing it fixed the problem, but I don't have any app that does that.
I have an unlocked note 8 too, I only use iris validation (finger print does not reliably work for me because of my eczema), the only time i have ever encountered this was when the phone went to lock screen while trying to access bio-metric validation (banking app, only ever happened once, i disabled fingerprint after due to unreliability relating to eczema as previously mentioned)
Maybe not the same issue but fingerprint unlock never works for me reliably. I get that message when my fingerprint can't be recognized. I have working hands so often my fingers get knicked, scratched, etc or even just wet causing my fingerprint not register. If I reregister fingerprint with out a perfect fingerprint, after my fingers heal, can't be recognized again. Happened on my Note 5 as well so I stopped using fingerprint to unlock.
Don't think that's the issue for me, I never have any issues with the fingerprint reader normally, it always works great when it actually lets me use it.
Just got this phone days ago and flashed fresh new .205 firmware, then configed the phone and installed apps on it.
Everything appears fine, but suddenly all auto-start apps stop auto-starting after phone boots, until I unlock my phone manually, then finally they can start in the background.
What could cause this to happen? My other phone, Xperia XZP with exact same apps and settings works fine with no problem.
Update: app-start turns normal after disabling PIN. But how? Why? Can I turn it on again?
Update: apps stopped auto-starting again after fingerprint(PIN) is enabled. Really need some help here. Smart lock also appears broken, it just shows a blank screen in its settings page.
Update 2:
OK now I know it's caused by a feature called "FBE" and I have to do a factory reset to get rid of it. So damn great. I hate these companies.
Ever since Android 11, of which I am running Magisk, I have lately been getting these strange occurrences where my device will stop loading apps and slowly things will start breaking down in the system UI. If I try opening an app that is not already opened, it will simply keep me on the screen I was on, such as the lock screen or the notification shade, and tapping on the screen does nothing. I can swipe up to go to home then, and when I open recants it shows me the app with a transparent or black window. Then things such as screenshotting, screen recording, and the settings app will stop working, so I cannot try to force close an app. Because of this, its somewhat difficult to demonstrate and record. If I close an app that was open before the lockup and try to reopen it, that app meets the same fate.
The only way to revert these changes is with a reboot, and I haven't seen it occur when I have Magisk disabled. But it does take a few days of the device not being rebooted (which I have a habit of doing) to occur.
I've seen the same things on occasion... though I also had EdXposed installed, so I blamed it on that.
Eventually all the issues started stacking up and I decided to do my first ever factory reset and install fewer things. Hasn't been set up long enough to decide what's fixed. Though the factory reset caused a bunch of other issues, which annoys me.
Ever figure this one out?
