Custom Binary blocked by oem lock? - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Simply: I have a 960-f note 9 (Exynos). It was rooted and had twrp. I was very stupid and disabled oem unlock. Now I am stuck on a screen that says Custom Binary blocked by OEM Unlock. Can't access download nor recovery mode.

i wouldnt necessarily say that. In all the goofy 168 hour malarky ive seen since i first heard of it, i have heard of instances where if you relock it then you might be forced to resort to starting from scratch with a fresh firmware flash via Odin

LOL... you wrote MALARKY...
I´ve been there and done that...
Unless i´m skipping some step (that i can´t see)...
I kept the phone connected for over 200 hours (just wanted to be sure) with OEM Unlock present but disabled (not greyed out), and still KG State Prenormal...
Have you or anyone else tried that trick with binary 4 installed? Did it work? If the answer for both questions is YES, please make a detailed step by step guide so i wont be able to f*ck it up... again....
Please notice that i have not excluded the chance that i been messing up all this time, unlikely but possible... just need to know where...

yeah, i know well, if the state is prenormal, then youre still stuck (obviously). Have i personally seen any binary 4 phones work with the 168 hour trick? No, but it was worth a try. Not sure why they even bothered with the 168 hour thing in the first place, its not like thieves are worried about the cops running down a small time criminal like a random phone thief in the slightest, so leaving it on connected to a network wont dissuade anyone. sorry man, im at my depths here.

[Q] Fully Stock HTC One M7

So I have a fully stock HTC One and have spent all night trying to unlock the bootloader. Nothing seems to work I have never rooted this phone, everything I have read makes it seem as if it's impossible. I've tried the adb/fastboot, htcdev, and changing CID methods. Plus I have read of various other ways that already require a root. Which I cannot do seeing how I am still locked and S-ON.
To be honest I'm at the edge and I think I'm just going to give up. I'm on 4.2.2 - hboot 1.54. I was a previous owner of the Thunderbolt which was not a bad phone, I rooted that and everything no questions asked. Although I do remember HTC taking the longest for OTA updates, not a huge fan of HTC.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to unlock the bootloader I will be fine from there. I'm positive I have all the right equipment and prerequisites just not sure if I really am at the end of the road.
Anything useful goes a long way right now.
Thanks.....

Is urs the AT&T One? Then the bootloader unlock process is different. If urs is the standard international SIM unlocked, then ideally you should see a splash after you run the bootloader unlock command, which prompts you to unlock the bootloader. Please state what exactly ur issue is when u try to bootloader unlock
I'm with Verizon but it just gives me a 1 line error message doesn't run through anything else or load up anything. I type in "bootloader oem unlock" or whatever after clearly identifying my device is connected with "adb device" and nothing happens. It takes about 0.14 sec and says something along the lines of "[ERRORR] ......" after running again it takes 0.00 sec and says same thing, I can screenshot if you think it would be more helpful.
Please help, I appreciate both responses. Just really want this to work.

Ooooh... That's tough. The only place I've heard of any kind of fix is in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/relock-bootloader-time-updating-to-5-1-t3053497
But, I don't think your situation applies... You're probably SOL.
There's no fix. You can try fastboot format cache and fastboot format userdata. If that doesn't work, there's no fix.

I wouldn't yet. Someone may eventually find a fix. But yes, you're going to need a new phone in the meantime.
Just a random thought; so what is covered by warranty? Say an internal connection was to get detached and the phone just won't power up, I think that would probably be something they may honor and replace the phone. I would not go back to the same place you tried to have it fixed, I would contact Motorola direct.
Again just a thought without thinking through all the scenarios nor with any thought of the morality of it.

The crap part would be if someone finds a fix after the phone is damaged. But, before you do anything, make the call.
I see many many threads regarding how to get free tethering, so I don't feel this is too out of place. Again, everyone has to work out for themselves whats right for them.

Since 5.1, you need "enable OEM unlock" set in settings to unlock the bootloader. If it is not set, you cannot unlock the bootloader. It only stays set until you boot up.
So some people update then immediately lock the bootloader. Then their phone won't boot so they cannot set "enable OEM unlock" so they're screwed.

You have to enable oem-unlock after every boot, it will not stick after a reboot.

No. The "enable OEM unlock" setting allows you to boot to the bootloader, connect to a pc and use the "fastboot oem unlock" command to unlock the bootloader.

I think we're confusing the issue. It doesn't need to stay ticked. All it stops you doing is unlocking the bootloader. Once the bootloader is unlocked, its unlocked.
The only reason you'll need to tick it is if you relocked the bootloader and then wanted to unlock it again. But this is dangerous because if your ROM breaks and you're locked, you cannot then unlock.

With OTA should be fine.. If something goes wrong during ota thats covered by warranty, but i was impatient to wait for it, so i did for my self over USB thats not covered by warranty like when u **** up something with root permissions.. This method is not the original updating method. but its a bit confusing because this was an official google suggested method (https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images) Terms of use, i accepted hurray!

[Q] I think I hard bricked my N6

Hi there,
So I just bought a brand new N6.
Did nothing to it, did not unklock the bootloader, di not flash anything.
Just ran it a first time, set my account, donwloaded the 5.1 OTA when proposed to and then it was over.
After the OTA installation my phone displayed a dead android and "Error".
When rebooting my phone, the apps are "optimizing" undefinitely and then the phone will restart.
I tried factory reset from recovery, that did nothing, I mean, the phone will still bootloop endlessly.
My bootloader is not unlocked so I cannot flash my phone..
Is there anything I can do ?
Thank you in advance

id get the phone refurbished, from google or from motorola, since it wasnt anything that you did, but was the updates fault. btw, that happens, very rarely, but it does happen that updates can cause issues.

Sorry to come back on this thread.
So now I have noticed that when in fastboot, if I type "fastboot oem unlock" I'm getting the popup proposing to unlock bootloader.
As I never selected USB debugging nor enabled developper option when my phone was working, I doubt it would work properly.
Would I have any chance to recover my phone if choosing to unlock the bootloader ?

This is very interesting indeed. To the OP, where did you purchase the device? I find it very peculiar that you were able to issue the OEM unlock command without using the toggle in settings.

I will be using these directions to unlock, install TWRP, root!

I do not love Magisk. Can I install TWRP and then SuperSu?
My phone is coming today. I want magisk because I want to use the app to customize.
Yes, that will work, TWRP is key here, magisk or SU is a preference. Grab the full ROM (1.4 GB) make a backup and you are good to go, you'll be able to recover no matter what you do.
Has anybody yet managed to unlock, install TWRP and flash EU rom? My device arrives tomorrow and this is the first thing I want to do.
I tried to unlock but I can't even unlock the phone. Maybe I'm an idiot but it's just too hard to follow this directions and there's also some Chinese involved.

Usually takes about 36 hours hours till you get unlock it through xiaomi.
FWIW,the vast majority of the original Mi MIX handsets that were sold by 3rd party vendors shipped with an unlocked bootloader, same w/the Mi Note2 Global version.
Have any of you checked for an unlocked bootloader?
Good question. Open the dialer, *#*#7378423#*#* should pop up a new system info window, you can verify in it.
...or just try to fastboot flash recovery twrp.img and see what happens.

i just got my mix 2 and had the same problem, use plexvpn and choose the shanghai gateway
Will try that when I get home. I actually got them to give me permission to unlock but now in the unlocking tool it says at 99 percent that the device is not associated with the account or something like that. I try to associate my account in developer options and I get a 10008 error. This is so brutal
That plexvpn did it with Shanghai location! Thank you. Now I will try and unlock and see what the next puzzle brings me!
This is crazy! Just had another problem. Tried to unlock by the unlock tool and now it says "Couldnt unlock. Binding time is too short. Less than 72 hours." UGH!!!! Any help would be appreciated!
You have to wait it out I'm afraid - I don't believe there is any shortcut. I had same issue with Mi 6 and it worked exactly after time had expired. You're nearly there...just a bit more patience!

Flashing /system to remove reactiviation lock
Reactivation lock is activated when the device was reset while wiped via either ADB or Recovery (likely either you or the seller stole it). You will need to flash the newest firmware for your device & carrier using Odin. You can usually find these on SamMobile if it isnt avaliable anywhere else. After its reflashed setup the device without a internet or sim card installed. If y oku have any trouble using Odin there are plenty of tutorials on it avaliable online.

multimesc frumos!! (because XDA rules state that we must post in english, this translates to "thanks a ton!!")
So, ive been on the Transfagarasan, the Transraraul, Sibiu, Brasov, Sigisuara, Castle Bran, Lacul Rosu (The Red Lake) and a few other treasures! We didnt get a chance to make it to Iasi either time yet despite its proximity to Piatra Neamt, which is where we call our home base. I am honestly curious to get your perspective on what are some of the best things to do/see in Romania. Doesnt have to be something like the people palace, i like real stuff. Restaurants that make the best ciorba(soup) and mancare(stew) or just a relaxing lakeside getaway. Do you have any places you think a goofball American might like?
