I believe I somehow messed up the fonts on my device running Lineage Pie. Many of the fonts elements are displayed as rectangles.
None of the Magisk or other "font changing" tools I've tried seem to do anything, and most are advertised for Oreo.
I've got root, I'm comfortable using adb and the command line, I just need a pointer where the fonts are located, and where to find a font package that will display all of the characters correctly.
Thanks in advance!
What if you format only the system partition and reinstall LineageOS, Gapps and Magisk? As the fonts are stored in /system/fonts this should fix it.

On OxygenOS we can't change the DPI via build.prop or via APP on the PlayStore flawlessly.
A way is to use ADB SHELL or TERMINAL EMULATOR.
Just type:
-> adb shell wm density DPI && adb reboot if you use ADB
-> wm density DPI (after that reboot the device) if you use terminal emulator
where DPI stands -> the number you want to set.
e.g: adb shell wm density 400 && adb reboot / or / wm density 400
To reset the DPI: just type adb shell wm density 480 && adb reboot / or / wm density 480
P.S: "It helps also for anyone how use systemless root (e.g SuperSu 2.78 SR4) and for OxygenOS beta 7 (no space left problem)"
NO ROOT NEEDED
That's not true - I've changed the DPI using Le DPI changer, using the edit build prop option

Try to reset it, after you put a DPI such as 400. =)
It not gonna stick after the first change.
When I used that app... I messed up my system.
My "option" is also for everyone who haven't some "room-space" on the system partition!

If you have root access it's far easier to delete apps from the system partition than use a method like this.
Not to mention you'll need to make space on the system partition anyway to use other mods

I think it's going to be a discussion :silly:...
Just to clarify:
if you use Systemless root + Le DPI Changer => you can't reset to the original DPI
you can use this method without root (so if you want to remain stock with locked bootloader => you can use this method to change your DPI)
I hope it's more clear now. =)
Sadly the terminal method doesn't work if you're not rooted, it spits out smth about permissions.
Why not just use build.prop editor? Using ro.sf.lcd_density=400 ?
Works perfect every time.

Please don't spread false information ... Manually changing value in build.prop DOES WORK.
I've been doing it since I bought the phone (on release) with every OOS version and never had any problems with it.

I use Root Essentials. It works.

OP3T, Oxygen OS 4.1.3 rooted with Magisk, stock kernel
Can't apply any theme to my phone. I successfully install substratum, grant it with all the permissions including root, but when it comes to applying themes some problems occur. First of all I don't get this "rebuilding cache" phase or something (right after clicking onto a theme inside the app) since it takes me directly to 'applying theme' part. Of course I choose Oxygen OS correctly and toggle all the apps. After the applying process I get the notification that everything went well and that I have to reboot but after doing so nothing happens and the UI is still stock.

EDIT
Tried disabling Magisk Busybox, enabling core only mode etc.

Coming from Substratum subforum with no solution, got directed to device specific section. Above is basically what I'm struggling with at the moment.
BTW I tried numerous themes, also Swift Dark (which is supposed to be the most forgiving of all)
Go in and manually grant all permissions to masquerade and substratum
I had an issue like this before with one specific app that wouldn't get themed. It showed up on the list and when I apply the theme, everything looks normal. But when I reboot, the app remains unthemed and the Swift Black page does not highlight the app with the green text. Not sure what happened, but dirty flashing OOS fixed it.
One of the key features of Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) is the ability to install custom themes onto the device.
Themers can package their work into .hwt files that can then be applied by EMUI’s theme manager application. Users can customize the lock screen style, wallpapers, icons, background colors, and finally the font.
However, some users who upgraded to EMUI 5.0, the latest version based on Android 7.0 Nougat, have found that the “Font Style” option is missing. Furthermore, it appears that these users cannot even change their fonts by applying custom themes that have packaged their own fonts. I can confirm that this is the case on the Huawei Mate 9, as have many others.
Fortunately, there is quite an easy fix available to re-enable switching the font style, and it doesn’t require root. If you have a Huawei device on EMUI 5.0 and cannot find the “Font Style” option under Settings –> Display or in the customization menu of the system theme manager, then all you need to do is send the following ADB shell command:
adb shell settings put system hw_hide_font_style false
(Note: if you can’t get ADB working, make sure you have the proper driver installed. Installing HiSuite will automatically fetch the right driver.)
Reboot, and you should now be able to edit fonts on your Huawei device running EMUI 5.0! I hope you find this tip useful. This doesn’t appear to be a problem on every device running EMUI 5.0 (I’ve seen mixed reports on the Mate 8, P9, and Honor 8 forums), but if you haven’t been able to edit your font hopefully this will work for you. It certainly did for me!

So I just recently came across this watch and have been fiddling with it. I managed to twrp it, unpack the 5.1.1 boot img other day and patch it with magisk and flashed it successfully. There was a little error in magisk manager you could slide by when you first opened it but it showed installed could grant superuser permissions.
The newest updates (6.0.1) and above I guess are using this squashfs scheme for system so it's not mountable. I noticed on the lg watch there was a squashfs doryimg, does anyone have squashfs sprat compatible twrp already anywhere, or can create one quicker than me? Or lead me in the right direction to compile it myself? An update installed on me unrooted me and failed to install, ideas on easiest way to freeze them prefferably adb shell pm uninstall -0 type command? Managed to also magisk patch 6.0.1boot img and flash it successfully get superuser permissions but its not proper doesnt have system permission to change anything much because of squashfs.
Tried DPI Changer is nice. Google Keyboard is good but wish it had an enter button so I can fiully type in jackpal terminal spaces that require an enter key. Will maybe try hackers keyboard(tried swype, gboard, minuum on 5.1.1 no dice). Google Analog draw keyboard zip kind of nice but annoying to type with. Es File Explorer pro size render disallowed looking at others app menu beside users. Es File Explorer worked to uninstall on 6.0.1 but not 5.1.1 had to go to go to data/ app to uninstall on 5.1.1. Could not install apk from device. Have been having to use adb install and push commands to get most files on the watch. Chrome apk latest works. I'd like to stay at 5.1.1 to maintain proper magisk/ twrp solely because of lack of squashfs support. Anyway to update google play service (1.1 to android 1.3 or 1.5) without updating version or install real playstore? Tried remote desktop/ gmail but only thing stopping me was I am unable to login to a google account on device because there is no account section in settings. Tried several app versions, shortcuts, workarounds no luck but lmk if you were able to.
Used rootjunky restore tool v2 to restore stock 4.4 it works well. V3 wouldn't recognize my almost bricked device but V2 would. OTA back from 4.4 is super annoying tho adb doesnt work says unauthorized until 5.1.1 doesnt give key doesnt pop up. Adb sideload is friend. There is not another boot img until 6.0.1 so had to apply patch updates then unpack/ repack. Had issues with backups not restoring root somehow. https://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Gear_Live couldnt find anything newer besides one reddit post. first 6.0.1 update is twrp flashable.
well thats about all for now when I reupgrade I'll try and upload 5.1.1 magisk root if nothing changes. Thank you kindly Feel free to chime in if you still have this device, what worked for you., any tips, :good:
Still looking??
Sorry, I can't help you....... The gear live support just keeps getting less..... Well, it IS five years old after all...
Anyhow, I still have mine an love it. I read you were able to get TWRP on it successfully.
I can flash TWRP to the Gear Live just fine, but as soon as I reboot normally, the stock software replaces TWRP with the original recovery.
Supposedly, TWRP has a patching feature built in, but I've not been able to make it work.
SO....... Do you have any ideas why mine would not be working??
Thanks
Boowho??
As i wrote above, how can i change system font on XenonHd 8.1?
phone is rooted with latest magisk. IFont does not work, phone not supported .
"Edit" solved via Magisk.
