Front Camera Problem - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

I noticed that front camera is making face red while clicking selfie, if i cover my face then camera is showing actual colours, but when it recognizes face in the frame it automatically turns the face red, i also disabled all beauty mode but seems there is something wrong with camera software, because gcam port is not showing red face in front camera, can anybody confirm if they are also facing this issue or is this a hardware issue only?

Yes
Yes I'm facing the same issue. I just bought my phone today. Is it h/w related issue or s/w related

Which model of phone?
Just tested on Mi 9t Pro, not experiencing this problem.

Its software related, because gcam is not making skin tone red, its miui camera software problem, mostly you can notice when you are indoor, in outdoor lighting it is less visible
Sent from my Redmi K20 Pro using XDA Labs

i am too facing this issue, its even visible in gcam.. but not in all photos,
when a photo is taken in good lighting , i can observe the faces are shown red, but when the same photo is kept in laptop - i can see that its good and true colour,
i sent the same photo to redmi 4, its also showing it in RED but not as much as our k20 pro.
Anyway.. i came to conclusion that yes, its taking normal photos and our display is also boosting REDS or any signs of yellow/red.
later i went in to display and selected STANDARD mode, then i saw that photo is as it should be .. i meant PERFECT SKIN COLOUR.

Red color tone
I am facing problem with front camera of redmi k20pro it makes selfies complete red color tone? Can anyone help me with the solution please

Found Solution ( Pocket Mode )
I too faced the same issue, the problem is with the pocket mode in the camera setting. Turn it off.

Mi A2 Camera Focus Issue

Hello, my Mi A2 seems to have a strange effect when focusing on the primary lens. I would just like to know if this is normal or not. It seems when on the low light lens the focus is even across the image but the primary lens it seems to wash from one side to the other.
Here is a video to illustrate.
Does anybody else's do this? Thanks!
I've been having the same issue for a while now! It's very annoying and I have no idea how to fix it! I've been using the low light lens and just taking pictures with that. I cannot tell if it is a hardware or software issue either. I'm going to install a custom rom soon, just haven't had time to do it, so hopefully that fixes the issue!
i think it's a software issue, because after capture everything is OK

I still have issues after capture. If I'm capturing text the top half is unreadable in portrait because it's so blurry, and when I tap to focus on the top it doesn't help.
Same issues here
I have exactly the same issue... It seems like the extremes of the picture are better and the sides really blurry. For text is really bad, and also for pictures when you want the focus not being in the center. As you mention, touching the focus does not help.
I have no solution for now, thinking on sending it back...
Doubed HW issue
I'm sorry to say I feel it like a HW issue as I am facing the same issue with GCam in my MI A2.
i too have the same problame even after capture...
It's fixed on my phone now, unfortunately I had to get a new camera module. The issue is likely caused by a misaligned lens element, so the only option is to swap the camera module or warranty the phone. Mine works great now. Shouldn't have had to fix it but I guess these things happen I guess.

It should be pretty straightforward, here's a teardown video: https://youtu.be/mo92gAwKv6s. That should walk you through getting the module out.

Can you send a link to the module you got? There's several between eBay and AliExpress I've seen, but am looking for a reliable one.
I have the same problem, I think it's began after update to pie 9, Is it possible? I try everything like clear cache, factory reset, hitting the camera. What is your solution ? Only change the camera with new ?

mia2 camera issue after pie update
my mia2 primary camera does not focus properly ,videos are totally blurred after the pie update, hope xiomi resolves the camera issue soon.I think this is software issue,if it would have been a HW issue, why would the camera hadbeen working perfectly on OREO?

Half side blur photo (Unable to focus)

I am not much interested in camera when i bought Mi A2, it works fine. but recently when i was taking picture, it was half side blur and i was not able to make focus on upper side of camera. i tried all modes but no use. I have Note 6 Pro and it's camera functions and focus properly.
in mi A2 I observed when in MANUAL mode i select Lens as LOW LIGHT, it works (but in manual mode only).
do any one has some solution or give reason to behave camera like this.
Same here
It was a February patch bug and it seems to persist in March patch... Xiaomi.

This is a hardware problem, I also had this, give the phone a guarantee.
P.S. sorry for english(
How so we both have exactly the same problem and mine started with pie?
Looks like this is a hardware issue, I'm having the same problem after 4 months of use.
Same here, I also took it to guarantee and they told me it was a software problem, but when they gave it back to me nothing had changed. Camera still not working

I had ordered it from this website but I had paid the cheapest shipping, I'm from Mexico so it will take a while to arrive to my country.. maybe next month..
I had the same problem and replaced the camera module with a new one, and the problem was fixed... temporarily because 3 months after it started happening again with the new camera, so either I am super unlucky, or it must be some other defect in the phone that tends to breaks the primaey cameras...
At this point I don't think I am going to replace it again. Do you know of any way of recording videos with the low light camera?
I have the same issue. In fact this issue persists in the video mode as well. Its okay for videos of objects nearby but move even a few metres away and it becomes very difficult to focus. I was at this concert and wanted to record the performance but only got a very blurry video with muffled sound. For photos this issue is especially an inconvenience when taking photographs of documents etc where you could very well do without the unnecessary bokeh effect. In MANUAL mode this does reduce a bit, but not to any extent that helps.
I was just told by a friend that installing the Google camera mod might help, but I'm yet to try it out.
I have same problem with upper side blur. Seems that switching to "manual" mode and change "lens" from "regular" to "low light", as said by the original user. It works fine with me. Thanks for the tips ! ........ so it is not the hardware problem, it is a software problem. Changing camera may not work ! Don't know if they are going to release new firmware to solve it or not ?? Any idea how to upgrade the firmware ?

If it is a hardware problem I do not see why it would prevent using the secondary camera, it can be a problem with the lenses (Have you thrown or hit your phone?) and not with the module. There are those who have returned to Oreo and the problem persists.

Question Problem with purple-pink hue on the main Camera - S21 Ultra Exynos

Hi,
I've noticed pink spot/hue issue in the middle of photos taken by main camera my S21 Ultra (Exynos version).
I've checked that some condition must be met to recreate the problem:
- photo must be taken indoor when sunrise appear (but it should be dimm in the room not bright)
- photo taken outside when is cloudy (there is no sun)
- the light must be natural
- on gray and green (khaki) surfaces defect is more visible
Do you also have this problem?
I was send phone to service center twice:
first time camera module was replaced - unfortunately the defect remained
second time - the service stated that the phone and camera is functional
P. S. - laser AF is not a cause - I've covered up and hue still exists.
I've searched forums and found similar problem with xperia z3, htc, galaxy s5 .
I dont know if this is normal, or maybe software update will fix the problem or maybe this is hardware failure?
Really...don't know what to do anymore.
Have you tried to replicate the results using another camera app? If it looks the same, then it's not software.

Definitely a hardware issue buddy... Keep trying with Samsung, print the images you showed us here and give them with the phone so they can see directly and not test it barely and not notice...
@nevellan
Good to see that you created this thread.
I've been noticing the same too from the beginning. Enquiring further, I noticed the same in two other units later. (All Exynos).
I did not /do not see the pink hue when the laser AF is covered.
However, my concern is why to have the pink hue in certain lighting condition irrespective of laser AF is covered or not! This is an issue.
... have also noticed that the pink hue disappears when focus enhancer is ON.
Pink Hue dissapers when focus enhancer is ON,becuase then is used wide camera not main (108 MP).

Not sure*.
Could be firmware.
Try:
Clearing the system cache
Clear cam data
Hard reboot.
Check cam settings; excessive contrast or saturation could cause it.
A factory reset will do nothing more than likely.
*test to see if it's purple fringing with some high contrast images ie backlit subjects

I'm having a similar problem with a purple patch in the middle of the shot but only when photographing black objects in less than ideal light conditions, particularly black materials. The problem exists with the main camera and wide angle, Zooms seem ok. The problem also exists using GCAM. If I force flash there is no problem. Doesn't seem to be an issue in any other circumstances. Strange. S21 U Exynos 16gb.
I ve noticed this too, but only on the gray colors. I am up to date with the software version, july patch. Exynos 256 GB.

Ignorance is bliss
Looks like only Exynos devices are plagued with this defect, one more reason to pass on this problematic SoC.

Question Mi 11 Camera Focus issues

Hi Team
Anyone noticed that the main camera has a lot focus issues on faces?
Background is on focus while the faces aren't.
Any way to upgrade Camera firmware only?
I notice focus issues on the main came that star a few days ago. To fix them, I need to shake or give some kicks to the phone in other to solve the issue...
This may be caused by some drop, however, I always use the TPU case.

This seams a hardware problem, I have concerns if they can compensate it by software.
The issue semana to me that the focus mechanism is get stuck, maybe by the lac of power, and only some kicks help do put the lens in the right position...
Can anyone confirm about the fix for 12.5.4.
Don't think it's a hardware issue as I don't get the problem with other camera apps.. though not sure they use all the lenses

+1 Google Cam is more stable for pictures and produce better quality. Not an Hardware problem
Hello . I started having main camera focusing issue.
When it zoom close subjects its fine and than when it zooms distant subject it becomes blurry .
So when I shake the phone or make a tap it removes blur and catch the picture good.
Should I replace camera lens , sensor .. or it might be hardware ?
I just got the phone. Focus on people is always bad. No recognition. I have to switch to Portrait mode manually to get good shots of people.
Main camera also has focussing problems with flowers.
I expected more than this...

Hi, dude,
This is a normal physical effect, which is called 'Antbamding' (50 or 60Hz).
in previous versions there was an option in camera settings "Antbanding" to minimize that effect.
for more Info 'google' it!
I do not see any option in Gcam for anti-banding
I am also experiencing this, vertical bars for BOTH front and back camera. Was at restaurants in low light environment and took these, using portrait mode, night mode and normal mode.
Yes, this is the same issue I have experienced on both front and back camera in artificial lights.
Seen this during day time, indoor shoot as well as night time indoor shoot
Ok. That's 2 of us... Is this normal/expected camera processor behavior or do we have defective units??
A couple others have reported this as well. Even in few of the youtube videos comparing Pixel 7 with other smartphones, I was able to catch this on pixel 7/pro display.
I do not believe this is affecting just vanilla 7, but 7 pro as well.
I hope others chime in with their experience by shooting under different light conditions.
I had such a problem when I put on a cover. It turns out that there is a sensor between the two cameras, and my cover did not have a hole for this sensor. I had to make a hole myself. Everything is fine now. My pixel 7.

What case/cover it is?
I have the same issue...
Issue is seen even without any case/cover in my case
Workaround - Start the camera in selfie mode and after 1 second switch to back camera.
Update; i exchanged phone as it was new and replacement phone does same thing, so it is a " bad behavior". Work around is to play with the lightness bar when taking pic. Banding stops at a certain point, but what a pain..
This isn't a defect per se, it's image banding.
Likely from LED lighting.
Try decreasing the shutter speed under a 100th of a second while keeping the exposure like in pro mode.

That's a normal digital camera phenomenon, not a defect. That said I can't get my N10+ to do it with LED lighting. These ones probably aren't pulse modulated though.
Use the phone's led, another led light source or incandescent lighting to back fill the shot. You need to slow the shutter speed otherwise or shoot at a higher ISO.
