We know the hardware is the same for both.
is there a way to instal a2 custom rom on 6x?
or kernel
Impossible A2 is A/B and 6x A only and TWRP will check codename and will don't allow flash A2 roms on 6X because It will brick the device

Based on the link above, some people have successfully installed the A2 Stock Android One ROM on 6x
So maybe we can do the same thing with custom rom

You can't convert if you have ARB4, well... you can but it's a bit complicated, check 4PDA for that.
And customs roms of A2 in 6X is not possible, you need to convert to A2 to use them...
Nope. Jasmine have ab partition and wayne have aonly

Well, I'm looking forward to buy a Xiaomi phone.
I never used a xiaomi phone before, therefore I'm thinking which one to choose? If I buy Mi A2, I'll get stock android ui. But I think if I get a xiaomi phone than why can't I use MiUI? Well, I know that Mi A2 is "Android One" device but is there any way to use MiUI 9/10 in Mi A2? If not now, than will in future?
Yes in the future you will be able to flash the Mi6x rom on your MI A2 if you wanna taste MIUI.
It was the same case with MI 5X/A2 !

Thanks for the info buddy! @marc2800
Are there any news about this developement? I like the hardware-specs but Android One is missing some usefull features, like one-hand-controll and twin-apps (usefull for e.g. whatsapp on a dual-sim smartphone).
Sadly buying a Mi 6X is no option because it doesn't connect to 4G networks in Band 20 (important for Germany).

I was able to flash the mi 6x fastboot rom, the bootloader works fine. The partition system is a little different from stock (android One) so a bit of work needs to be done. besides that, according to the Mi 6x forums they already installed our firmware (Mi A2) on their devices(Mi 6x) with no issues. So it is definitely possible, just a little beyond my area of expertise. If you want to check it out for yourself the link is http://en.miui.com/thread-3439864-1-1.html

If you want MIUI then just buy any other Xiaomi phone that's available in your country. Why even bother getting A2? Just get any other device and flash custom ROM if just want the taste of stock android.
And regarding future development, I don't think any dev will waste their time on it because you already have a official phone with MIUI on it.
It doesn't even make sense to put effort in this cross development. A dev tried porting MIUI for A1 but it sees like the work is till in progress.
It'd be easier to install custom ROM on a MIUI phone than MIUI on stock.
Miui should not be too crazy to get working on our devices. It is just a matter of if enough people/devs want it and have drive to do something about it.

tell me please
how to install miui on mi a2 android one?
I have a MI A2 and i wanted to know if right now, with the custom ROMs available i should stay MI A2 and use MI A2 custom ROMs or convert to 6X. Thank you in advance.
If you ask me - stay.
ROMs are coming.
stay. if anything you'd want to convert the mi 6x to mi a2 instead.
you hate the stock android one soo much? you should try and live a couple of days with miui, would make you wanna reconsider your question
You don't have to stick with MIUI if you convert. Most A2 custom roms have MI6X versions. It is not bad idea to convert to 6x if you are going to custom roms since it has working twrp and it is a-only device wich makes flashing custom roms easier.
But you should try yourself and see what works best for you. You can always revert back as long as you dont trigger anti roll back.

I only wanted to convert if the custom ROMs are better for 6X than A2, i would not stay in MIUI.
mi 6x vs mi a2 which has more number of custom roms, can a same custom rom be installed on both, is there same number roms available because both have same hardware , do they get same amount of updates, should i conver a2 to 6x?
6x have better twrp because of single slot partition, it is just more simple to flash custom rom. A2 is better because it is easier to unlock bootloader. So I wotte for A2 because you can convert it to 6X and have better and easier rom support, and you can always revert it to stock android one if you want it.
I have converted my A2 after a few days after buying it, and I am still converted and do not plan to ever go back to stock. You have choice to use MIUI, los, havoc, rr, etc... You can also use custom roms on A2 without converting to 6x, but this way it is much much easier...

No you can't i tried flashing miui china beta but it didn't took the flash. Only a2 rom will flash successfully. I had converted my a2 to 6x with unlocked bootloader. At a time i bricked it and it was stuck on edl mode. I tried to flash mi 6x rom but it didn't took that rom but when i flashed a2 rom it took the rom. After that i have to flash mi 6x rom again and it came back to life!
