[Q] Flash with stock rom

Hi and thanks for reading my question,
I have an xperia z with french network (SFR) customing. When I'm turning on my phone, there is an SFR's logo appears. How can I flash my phone with original rom ?

Grab Flashtool, an unbranded original rom in FTF format and flash it using flashtool.
If youre familiar with Samsung, its the same as flashing tar.md5 with Odin.

Thx, I'm not familiar with Samsung :silly: lol. So if I debrand my phone, don't need to unlock bootloader or root the phone ? I don't want to loose official updates and Bravia Engine 2.

No, unlocking is not needed. Official FTF's can be crossflashed on branded devices to unbrand them.
You may pull a backup of your current firmware to have it ready to make your phone look like factory fresh. There's tutorials all over the place how to do that, you may ask Google. It basically involves telling PC Companion to "repair" your phone, it will then download the branded firmware from Sony and this file you copy from the download directory and safe it for later. Piece of cake

I may have to add, I tried to pull a "backup" FTF for my still locked and brand new Z. PC Companion said there is no update available (yet). I find this peculiar as how am I supposed to "repair" my phone if I already ****ed my device up for real? I'll have to have an eye on the topic, hope FTF's will go online in the next couple days.

Has anyone uploaded a stock ROM yet? Couldn't find one.

Alright, to clone your current firmware:
1. Connect phone while in PC Companion.
2. Where it says at the top "latest version installed", click on that text.
3. In the small message box that pops up, click "repair my phone".
4. You are now in the flashing steps as usual.
5. Proceed until you are given the option to back up.
6. Do as usual.

I dont have it from inside the thread, I browsed the directories Doom linked to and found that FTF in the process. I take it from the build 10.1.A.1.350 that we are talking release, don't know. Doesn't really matter either, unbranded is unbranded.
And I won't flash it, my free device came unbranded. I pay a lot of attention to only getting free, unlockable, unbranded devices.

As I wrote further up or in another thread (dunno), if I do that, I get a message that no firmware is available for download.

Problem flashing stock rom
Hi,
I'm trying to flash the stock rom. But It doesn't work... (my bootloader is unlocked)
When I try to flash the stock rom with flashtool it gets stuck with:

Are you connecting in USB debug mode when first plugging it in?

I need firmware Orange Spain for XSP

hello,
please i'm in very big trouble, i updated my XPERIA SP and my device became SIMLOCKED it gave me message to enter network unlock code, after that i tried an unbranded firmware, i also tried to repare firmware using PC COMPANION, but now my phone has a greek firmware ( COSMOTE ) and my SIM is not recognized, it doesn't even give me chance to enter an unlock code,
so i think now i should reflash it with a stock firmware branded ORANGE SPAIN ( it's original firmware ) even 4.1 or 4.3
so PLEASE PLEASE, give me link to that firmware i really need it :crying: :crying:

LOL, i've already used it, it stucks on 81% i don't know why, yesterday i let it download all the night ( my internet is low ) when i waked up morning i found ( internet connection error ) so if any one can help me plz, download it for me and put it on mega or anywhere PLEASE, and i'll thank you too much i SWEAR :silly: :silly:

you can download the files from XperiFirm manually (using IDM or any download manager) and when it gets stuck at some point you can update the links and continue the download.. you can choose the manual download form the download window then press "Manual" button, the links get copied to the clipboard .. you can start the download from there, after download you need to choose to unpack the downloaded package via XperiFirm again then makes the extracted files into one bundle via FlashTool

I didn't exactly understand why you would use S1 tool, but wouldn't Androxyde's Flashtool be a more appropriate choice to fix a brick?

well, my xZ1 is hardbrick now. it's mean that my phone cant enter the flash mode. always detected as MTPmode in the flashtool, and that's why flashtool cant help the hardbrick phone espicially when trim area is broke.

thanks for the tool :good: . but, is it supported for qualcomm MSM8274?. cause i also had the older tool (same name) and the tool not support msm8274, only msm8974.

The qualcomm MSM8274 was released before MSM 8974, i think it is supported for MSM 8274.
What is model of your device? Have you found the test point of this?

i've tried but the tool not support my device. my device is Xperia Z1 c6902 (L39H) with msm8274. yes, i found the test point and also follow the instruction to fixing hardbrick phone in this forum. but there is a notice which says that my hardware not supported (HARDWARE ID : MSM8274 NOT SUPPORTED).

I bought a hard bricked Xperia Z Ultra, which has MSM8274. I downloaded some versions of S1tool, but none of them worked.
I tried to search another way to unbrick, and finally I could enter flashmode following steps below,
1. Open backpanel.
2. Disconnect battery.
3. Connect to PC via USB. (Red lamp brinks after connecting.)
4. Press and keep VOL - key, and reconnect battery.
5. The Phone enters flashmode.
This method may not work Xperia Z1, but could you try this?
(Sorry for my poor English, and too late replying.)

Using this method, saved my Xperia Z1

forgot the password, can't get into recovery or download mode

hi guys, a friend of mine have the xperia z1 and he forgot the password, i'm a galaxy kind of guy so i don't know much about the xperia z1
i looked up how to get into recovery and i tried everything but still can't get there, and i don't know how to use the flash tool
I tried :
- power button + vol up simultaneously and after the phone is on
- "repair phone" by using Xperia Companion
- update by using Xperia Companion
i even took it to various shops but they all have no idea how to fix it
really desperate to some help, thank u in advance

hi first question that you mean the password is forgotten, second if the password pattern cell and do not remember you can unlock by adb if above the USB debugging is enabled, this case if you have none of that only solution is to flash the ftf file corresponding to your phone.

I'm terribly sorry if this was asked before but I've been searching but so far I haven't found any
As the title says, Has anyone have any news about Nougat for Customised UK? Have we been left out? I'm so close to download a different FTF to flash but I am waiting patiently.

I read on Xperiablog,that someone ask on sony uk chat, and they told him that Nougat will come this month...But i didnt wait that long time and flash Customized Ru (before i had customized uk)...i dont believe that Nougat will come this month for customized UK...Just flash Customized RU, but after you flash Nougat and start phone and set it, then reboot your phone, it will be in russia language, then go to the settings, language and input and set preffered language and delete each others...then when will you reboot or start your phone, it will be in you language ...

Edit: Almost forgot to ask, doesn't it delete all of your installed apps when you flash your phone? It's been awhile since I've done this things, last time was with an Samsung Galaxy Y

No, it doesnt delete installed apps if you dont tick folders under wipe section in flashtool...But i recommend to do clean install, because you can get bootloop with dirty flash... https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z4/development/nougat-firmware-z3-e6553-6533-t3545481 there are an instructions....But when i was flashing software, i read instructions too, but flashtool shows errors, than before you flash, first you must to do:
1. Enable usb debugging mode in phone
2.Connect your phone to pc BEFORE YOU RUN FLASHTOOL!!!!
3. when you select your firmware and image will pop up, do what pop up image say...
Its important to connect your mobile BEFORE YOU RUN FLASHTOOLl!
And one more thing, you must upgrade flashtool 0.9.23.1 to 0.9.23.2 with .jar file, but doesnt do stupid thing that i, iam tried run .jar file but it shows erros, then i get idea that i must replace downloaded .jar file with existing one in flashtool folde and it works...
And if flash starts, the green bar will go quickly to the end, but then will stop, and after few minutes it will continue to end....It was in my round, but maybe you have different pc then it can be different...

I will keep waiting...I am afraid to do it myself! :crying:

Yes, your phone will be downloading Russian customised FTF now, the same goes for your Xperia Companion. This is because your phone has changed its registration from UK files to RU files...
