as the title suggests I have a curious problem, after changing rom very often the security options don't go anymore, I can't set a password, a 'drawing' etc ... when I set it to have the ok but nothing changes. ... solutions?
Try wiping data.

I tried them all .....
install mini and stock gapps .. first and after the first boot .... I tried to overwrite the roms on the miui file system 9.6.20 without and with wipe .... I made wipes 200 times but nothing ... .with and without magisk ...... with the miui it goes as smooth as the butter with the aosp no ....
the problems arose after I tried to install the Open Source Illusion Project .... unfortunately, however, it gave me an error and I gave up ... I shredded and I restored everything and from that moment anything I install doesn't seem to work the fingerprint sensor ... only with the "miui" works correctly ...

no, I haven't tried it yet, I've always hated using something other than TWRP ... lastly I'll try that solution too ... anyway it's a mistake ... as I said before everything worked fine and now it only works in the rom miui.eu ... really curious ....
tomorrow I also try the AOSPextended and see if the miracle happens, I doubt it ...
the strangest part is just in the error ... any setting I put does not return errors or other ... it simply takes the ok but in the settings does not change anything
Try to install any custom rom over Xiaomi.eu without wiping system. If it doesn't help you can try to install persist.img from fastboot China dev miui rom( the same version as your xiaomi.eu rom). You must use twrp that support persist partition (e.g. wszx150)

I rectify ... not even the rom "miui.eu" reads me more the fingerprint ... the sensor works because if it enabled the unlock function without fingerprint the sensor works correctly but no rom allows me to use more the settings of release
to install the persist.img I have to unpack the rom or do I have to flesh the full rom ??
The best way to get rid of problems with sensors is flashing full fastboot rom with Miflash. Notice that you can't lock bootloader if you install global on CN version and vice versa. You can try to repair sensors by flashing persist.img unpacked from fastboot rom.
In your case if sensors work good I don't know if it is necessary and will it help. In miui you can check sensors in service menu. Just tap several times in kernel version

flash dev global rom without erase data (miflash)
flash TWRP (ADB)
wipe system, cache, data, dalvik in twrp
flash clean xiaomi.eu 9.8.1
the f***** fingerprint not work.... it works only as a button but not with security settings
any other solution??
Unfortunately I am not Italian. I am Polish. If you have CN version you can't install global rom and if you have globa version you can't install CN rom and relock bootloader.

You have already been given the solution, the solution is to use adb or the All in One Tool, and flash the fastboot version Rom, which flashes and restores the driver images including restoring the fingerprint driver.
In addition, you will very likely need to format ( not Wipe FORMAT ) Otherwise, you are just wasting time. Backup any wanted files to the PC and then format your device. In you are not comfortable with ADB use the All in one tool. Its makes this process easy. Especially for people, not familiar with ADB. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/development/tool-tool-one-driverstwrpfactory-t3895807

I did the suggested procedure (the procedure you quoted is the one I performed) without formatting the "data" partition, it shouldn't change anything
the problem is that it doesn't work yet ....
You need go to recovery, file manager and then delete locksetting.db in /data/system/

So after trying Xiaomi EU, MiGlobe Rom and Android Q Beta
I decided to flash back to MIUI 10.3.8 via fastboot
Somehow my front camera won't open properly, it kept saying "Can't open front camera, please calibrate".
And when I press Calibrate, popup cam goes up and down 3 times in a row and says "Can't calibrate".
Any idea how to fix this?
EDIT: Must be the fastboot rom I downloaded. Other rom's front cam worked fine...
I am having same issue. Initially I thought it was hardware problem.
But I noticed it seem to be related to software.
Took few restart of camera app and sometime phone restart, for it to work
same problem here
just came from Android Q beta from Mi Global Home, and I decided to go back to MIUI china. The problem occurs after flashing the v10.3.15 china ROM.
Any ideas to solve this?

Did you install a fastboot ROM or go straight to the latest recovery ROM. If you went for the recovery, then I suggest installing the most recent fastboot ROM, then upgrade to the latest recovery ROM.

I wiped all partitions via LR. Team TWRP, and flashed the most recent fastboot ROM. Still doesn't work
after analyzing for like 3 hours, I noticed that all sensors are also not working (Gyro, Accel, Proximity, etc). I googled it and found the solution. Here it is:
by flashing persist.img (from the extracted latest fastboot ROM) to persist partition via LR. Team TWRP, all sensors are working fine. Even the camera's calibration now works perfectly
I've got same issue, coming from Android Q beta. I've put the Indian rom and I thought that this is the issue.

In L.R TWRP, we can flash other kinf of partitions (like persist, for example)
I always used the "persist.img" file of the stock ROM (installed via fastboot). I trasfered it from my computer with ADB. The command is:
Code:
adb push [I]the_path_where_you_stored_the_persist_file[/I] /sdcard/
To to that, go on "Install"->"Install image"->Now choose the persist.img file-> Choose the "persist" partition -> "Flash image" -> Reboot
Then just wait for the MIUI to tell you to calibrate the camera, now it should work!

try flashing 10.3.16 chinese rom via fastboot yesterday i flash that rom and it fix that problem in my k20 Pro
TLDR: I tried installing AEX rom and I bricked my mi9, getting it in a fastboot loop. Flashed a bunch of things and now I think my firmware is messed up. Help.
First I flashed TWRP, then I flashed the AEX rom and gapps, but phone got in bootloop, then I tried just flashing the ROM and it worked. After I flashed gaps it got into bootloop again.
Then I read the instructions from the AEX thread and I flash the recommended Firmware file (v9.6.13), and the flash failed.
I wiped everything, reflashed the ROM without gapps, and at restart the phone. Got stuck in fastboot.
Tried reinstalling TWRP with no success. Tried flashing MIUI with their flash tool but it didn't ended the flash procedure even after 20 minutes...
I tried to directly boot the recovery image (TWRP) and I was surprised that the phone booted in MIUI, but wifi wasn't working. Did not test anything else. Restarting the phone got me again in fastboot loop.
I tried again flashing with mi flash tool and this time was succesfull.
Then I tried to flash a MIUI eu ROM and got the phone again in fastboot loop. Flash was succesfull, but when restarting TWRP said that there is no OS installed.
I decided to give up and flash global MIUI 10.2.13 back.
But now my phone has some problems. Auto brightness doesn't work and video recording freezes the camera app when image stabilization is enabled.
So, is there a way to reflash 10.2.13 rom firmware using mi flash tool?
I suppose the first Firmware flash that was unsuccessful messed the firmware up...
Or how do I get my phone back to factory status...
I suppose v9.6.13 firmware is China developer and was an upgrade and that I should downgrade to 10.2.13 rom firmware.
Or flashing developer global will solve the problem? And how do I do that?

Hmm, so where are you at now!? Have you got twrp installed? and 10.2.13 but with issues, right? or are you on stock recovery?
Current status: I managed to flash fastboot global ROM in mi flash, and stock recovery.
But the firmware is messed up.
Camera doesn't work well. And from normal use I saw that Gyroscope, light sensor and compas aren't working at all...
Phone reboots itself and I can't unlock it because pattern isn-t recognized anymore, untill I reset it by long pressing the power button.
From CIT menu gyro, light sensor and compass are definitely not working.
Would flashing latest firmware from TWRP be a possible solution? My bootloader is still unlocked and I can flash TWRP.
Or should I format vendor partition first? And then flash firmware?
Fastboot flash did solved firmware problem.

To be honest I'm not entirely sure if it'll help, but, I'd put global stable flashable zip on otg, then I'd flash twrp again, boot to twrp using buttons not commands, wipe cache, dalvik, vendor, system, data, internal. Then format data, swiping with confirmation 'yes'. Then flash latest global again over the clean device from otg. You could try using mauronfrio's twrp 3.3.1-35 instead of the one you linked get it here. That's just what I'd try, can't say whether it'll help and no guarantees it'll fix anything... Let us know the outcome bud.
You can download the latest flashable rom from here
I can't see why ur sensors etc aren't working anymore, it's got to be all software related me thinks
Do not try to reboot after wipes, you'll have nothing installed

Correct me if I am wrong, but flashing a stock MIUI zip form twrp won't work.
Or you are saying that I should flash a xiaomi eu ROM?
Got another sugestion:

Hold tight bud, just checking. I remember doing that - and the stock rom flashes but you no longer have twrp, it flashes the whole system/vendor including recovery. But hang on 'cos I might be recalling my pocophone F1 for that proceedure. The reason I suggest to reflash twrp is simply to have better control over a fully clean wipe, before progressing to flash rom again. Like I say, hang on just checking...

Nope, I think you're right, it was the poco I was getting muddled with - haven't had to do this in while (poco has flashable stock zips somewhere...). It is possible to do it with lazy flasher, but that may start getting messy again. Have you tried re-flashing fastboot? Can you wipe much at all in the stock recovery - again, I can't remember.
Failing that, yeah, I'd seriously consider flashing twrp and flashing mi-globe or eu rom. I prefer mi-globe (although currently using beast rom) over eu simply because you can customize it more on the website. Though, I wouldn't recommend pre-rooting it. Root after, if need be. Any way, we'll cross that bridge later... For now just try to re-flash

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to wipe much in stock recovery, but just wipe what you can and try and re-flash fastboot. Don't flash twrp yet. You could try downloading again the fastboot file, in case of any corruption. Hopefully on the second flash all will be well. But that said, it should've been OK on the first flash :/ in theory
just flashed xiaomi eu rom and everything seems to work now. All sensors are working.
I had to disable signature check, and i got an mounting /system error -> got the message that is installed without changes... whatever that means
And now in TWRP, I think, my files are encrypted without enabling it.
Will try other roms later.
Thanks for the help.

Hey All, kind of a weird situation here.
My Mi 8 (Chinese Ver. 64GB, 6GB Ram) after updating to 9.9.3 and playing around with Pixel Experience 10, now has constant problems/hitches/crashes connecting to Wifi and Data or getting service overall. This happens with Sim in or out of Phone.
I have tried clean flashing both 9.9.3 and latest global using the fastboot method, clean flashing Xiaomi.eu using TWRP, formatting Data, Deleting Data,System,Cache, Boot partitions and Reflashing stock, as well as flashing just the Vendor from 9.9.3 after clean flashing Xiaomi.eu 9.9.3.
I have attached some screenshots (look at status bar) and some logcats of the Searches Modem and Sim

Just tried flashing the persist image from 9.9.3 and problem still exists. I also tried the one from the latest Stable 10.3.6 and it completely stopped working instead of intermittently even after clean installing 10.3.6 rom. maybe older version?

It should be ok after flashing with Miflash. You can try flash fastboot ROM with Miflash ones again or flash firmware ( it includes modem ) in twrp.

It happens with or without Sim card. Any Sim I insert does the same. And yes, both Sim slots have an IMEI.
I just tried flashing 9.8.15 persist.img and then flashing 9.8.15 with Xiaomi Flash and it seems to be working so far (no hangups for the last 30 mins) but we'll see if the problem comes back because it all seems fine until a couple of hours later.

You have missed out some info for me to help.
1. On twrp ? Version ?
2. Have you tried wipe / format data in twrp ?
3. Try to install a stable version of global rom
4. After done all the above and still the same issue then enter engineering mode and look at the network settings there and report here.

This is strictly a software issue, you have encrypted, deleted or corrupted the images in your persist partition.
Flashing a rom will do absolutely nothing to fix this issue.
This issue is resolved 3 different ways, i have several posts on this. The absolute best/fastest method is to restore persist images from a TWRP recovery backup.
You need to use one of these versions of TWRP : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79908339&postcount=116
method 1
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79824537&postcount=2
Note use an older fastboot version of Global stable if you own a Global device. if you own a Chinese device, use the chinese fastboot rom...Not recovery rom it has to be a fastboot rom and the older versions have the persist images separated,
Global Rom with persist images : https://xiaomifirmware.com/download/11879/
China Rom with persist images : https://xiaomifirmware.com/download/12207/
Method 2 : Restore persist images from a TWRP backup, do you have one?
Method 3 : Use the flashbat method of restoring your phone, the phone must be linked to your Miui account.
Let me know if any of these steps helped. Relax, this will definitely be resolved.

1. Twrp 3.3.1-0607 and also tried 3.2.4 and Orange fox on 3.3.0
2.Yes, many many times. I have to format data (typing in yes) everytime I switched from Chinese dev to Xiaomi.eu when I flashed via the Xiaomi flash tool. (Bat flash method)
3. Have tried installing every Dev, China Stable, Global Dev (old ofc), and Global Stable along with all of their respective persist partitions. Even tried flashing persist+ROM in EDL.
4. Pics below. All pics below are with the SIM card removed. It has been for a week without SIM card.
I'm pretty sure I'm screwed. Random reboots as well.

Sorry to hear that you are having difficulty.
Unfortunately backup persist images are unique to your device., and need to match up exactly with the device hardware. So do not attempt to restore someone else's TWRP persist backup it absolutely will NOT resolve your issue.
Try this method , it should finally resolve your issue, if it fails try it again and if if it fails. Start over , reread and try again.
Note Use Google Translate: http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=906971&view=findpost&p=77405784

hello
how can i apply the third method ( Use the flashbat method of restoring your phone, the phone must be linked to your Miui account. )?
and if my brother has the same phone ( mi 8) can i use his pack up?
Got the bootloader unlocked..should've read more & implemented over a proper guide.
long story short:
stared with magisk apk..when phone was fine.. then got into bootloop;
quickly downloaded & flashed the global (lime) MIUI V12.0.5.0.QJQMIXM;
installed twrp; should've done this before.
wasn't able to copy anything into internal storage.
Used Twrp to wipe phone.. & flashed the stock_global_miui_(lime)12.0.5 boot.img in fastboot
because twrp was saying "unable to decrypt fbe device" on internal storage
formatted using twrp.
booted properly but setup says device is locked because associated with existing mi account can't open wifi but was able to activate device upon entering password on mobile data setup completes but device restarts frequently & still unable to access wifi
I think it has something to do with "unable to decrypt fbe device"..
should I try flashing custom rom boot img?
please don't ban me..tell if I did something wrong, I'll correct that..
..
Edit:
MiFlash-tool Worked
Flashing other compaitable custom Rom also worked
..
Had twrp wipe the whole phone and the format the partions
& then flashed in fastboot & everything was normal.
..
FBE device encryption is basically storage encryption that prevents dirty flashing miui rom via fastboot.
this can be avoided by implementing proper procedure of magisk & use of lazypatcher.
Thank you so much.. @Cursader & @zoel.fahmi for pointing me in the right direction.. godbless
[solved]
Currently I'm running Miui just like a new device.
I will make another guide thread on rooting systemlessly & flashing other custom rooms... if I succeed I will link it here..
Try to reboot bootloader
then flash twrp
wipe everything and format the data partition
reboot to twrp again
then flash custom rom
If you're flashing miui again, your phone bootloader will be lock again and you need something like lazy2flasher if you wanna keep miui with twrp and magisk etc.

you can use custom rom from Poco M3 since it's used the same SoC (662)
here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/poco-m3-roms-kernels-recoveries-other-develop.11969/
check the thread name Poco M3 / Redmi 9T or unified or codename like citrus and lime
whats the difference between Lime, Citrus, & Juice..
Mine is Lime
Juice is Lime & Citrus I think..
So will Juice work on a device which previously ran Lime?
..
basically can I install PixelPlusUi_Juice
or should I first try the lazy2flasher.. & @zoel.fahmi
where do I get lazy2flasher
If anything goes for me (RedmiNote9Pro) i just use miflash to flash original miui and start all over from there, might not be the quickest method but is easy and reliable

If the bootloader unlocked and you can go into fastboot you can flash stock rom and It's just like it came from the store! Here you have link for your convinience: https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=2
MiFlash-tool Worked..
(its the best tool for bringing mi devices from rom mess back to scratch new)
Flashing other Rom also worked..(pixelui)
juice = lime + citrus (works for both)

Hi guys,
I was on "xiaomi.eu_multi_MI11Pro_MI11Ultra_V12.5.20.0.RKACNXM_v12-11.zip" (rooted with Magisk and with 2-3 modules), this Rom is from end of 2021 so I decided that I have to move on and give a try to "xiaomi.eu_multi_MI11Pro_MI11Ultra_V13.0.13.0.SKACNXM_v13-12".
First I decided to update my TWRP. I can't remember but I think that it was the one included in the v12.5.20 Xiaomi.EU Rom. I wanted to install "twrp-3.6.2_12-v5.1_A12-star-skkk.img".
First I removed PIN + Fingerprint and then restarted in Fastboot and booted with this kkk TWRP with "fastboot boot twrp.img", then I installed it with "Install Recovery Ramdisk", then rebooted to recovery (it was still ok) and finally rebooted to system ... and now it reboots in Fastboot.
I still have access to TWRP and I can see my files, so before I mess up more I'm backuping some files but it's f#£%ing slow .
What step(s) should I do to make the rom work again ?
I think of flashing Magisk-uninstaller (new TWRP told me at the end of installation that root was lost and that I had to re install it). Maybe there is something remaining from Magisk ?
Then, I think I'll flash "xiaomi.eu_multi_MI11Pro_MI11Ultra_V12.5.20.0.RKACNXM_v12-11.zip" again.
Do you have any advice ?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. : I know that I should post on Xiaomi.EU but I've tried to create an account on their forum since many years and it's insane but I used ~10 emails and I always have been detected as a bot or spam .

Always unroot before.
2 options:
Xiaomi eu rom v12 or 13, but you will need to format the data before flashing
Twrp/wipe/format data/type yes/reboot twrp.
If errors(red lines)repeat the operation.
Or use Miflash https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/flash-tool-guide-use-xiaomi-flash-tool.4262425/
In both cases you will lose your data.
You can try a backup with the twrp (without guarantee).

So nothing special, just flash and format data before if it's a different one ?

Flashed old Rom and everything is fine
So I'm back to the beginning .
Now I don't know how to move to last Xiaomi.EU.
Since kkk TWRP was ok to flash the old ROM, do you think it'll be ok to install last Xiaomi.EU ? Or maybe there is a better/safer TWRP to do it ?
And thx again for your support
