Unlocked Firmware N960U1UES2CSF9 to AT&T firmware N960USQU2CSGA - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

I started with a Verizon Note 9 that I put the above Unlocked Firmware onto, now that I'm putting the device onto AT&T's network, I'd like to take advantage of the special features that AT&T offers. What files would I need to go about flashing the AT&T Firmware onto the device? I feel pretty comfortable with Odin, I just need help finding the correct files to use with the new boot loader. I can't find them for the life of me. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Did you ever get this answered?
My guess is that it's possible that you'll need to flash the U (not U1) carrier firmware to get ATT features to work??

G935T to G935A to G935U

I have a T-Mobile US G935T that I got unlocked, and I was able to successfully flash it to the AT&T Firmware G935AUCS4BRA1_CL12564870_QB16445062_REV02. Since AT&T is a pain and doesn't allow VoLTE or Wi-Fi Calling on devices not on their IMEI database, I'd like to flash to an unlocked/unbranded firmware. Which firmware files should I be looking for? I'm currently downloading ATT-G935UUES4BRC1-20180330143420.
Is this right, and if it isn't, some guidance would be appreciated.
Thank you for your time

I was on the T-Mobile firmware first, then flashed it to the AT&T one with the firmware mentioned above. Used the standard ODIN procedure listed.

I was on 935A and used the following thread to flash to 935U.l Nice and Simple to do
https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-s7-edge/how-to/odin-n-7-0-g935uoym4bqd2-4-11-17-g935u-t3616834
This worked nicely. I had this on my radar, but just wanted confirmation, and looks like I got it.
Thanks for everyone's help!

Did you get more radio bands with the 935U?
This site
https://www.phonemore.com/compare/p...5u-vs-samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-sm-g935a/5532054
indicates the G935U has more bands than the G935A. I assume when you flashed the to G935U you picked the G935U associated
with AT&T. This confuses me a bit with the link above because nothing is mentioned to the specific carrier use of the 935U other
than when you look at it GSM is easily covered for what looks like all GSM bands and it has more bands than the 935A.
Could you tell me if you get more bands?
thank you,
Ken

Question about Verizon Note 9 on AT&T

Hi guys,
I recently switched from iPhone to Android, and I love it.
I purchased a carrier unlocked Verizon Note 9, and I'm using it on AT&T. I was wondering if flashing it to AT&T firmware would require rooting the device and would that trip Knox hence disabling Samsung pay and other features?
I have also heard that rooting Samsung phones voids warranty and I'm just trying to avoid that.....
I love the phone the way it is, but I want to use WiFi calling and other AT&T apps. I have done my research regarding whats needed to flash the firmware, but nowhere it says the method is actually "rooting" the device. I just want to double check before I flash.
Any feedback would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
You don't need to root it. Download the ATT firmware with the SamFirm tool, then use the patched ODIN 3.13.1 to flash it.

Well, I don't know. You have to provide more info. How is not working? At what point does it fail? What firmware did you download? How are you trying to flash it. What steps are you taking?

Accidentally bought G970U instead of G970U1

As per the title, bought an unlocked G970U instead of U1 by mistake. Should I expect a Verizon splash screen greeting me in the bootloader? I don't wanna see any branding anywhere in my phone. Can I get rid of any of that flashing U1 firmware?

Which G970U phone you have bought. If it was a Verizon branded, then their logo should greet you If you bought T-Mobile variant, then its logo will be present while booting the phone. Flashing is possible and it depends which carrier you have. Also don't you have the phone in hand yet?

Yeah, the phone hasn't arrived yet. In the pictures I can see the box has no carrier logo, but I'm guessing it's Verizon because I haven't seen a Verizon branded box yet. Also, the box definitely says G970U.
I've been a Nexus/Pixel user all my flashing life, so I'm well versed in the fastboot/adb dark arts. How does this compare to Odin? There are so many new terms that I'm still trying to understand: CSC, HOME CSC, USERDATA, etc. Is there any guide I can follow to flash my incoming phone to U1 firmware?

The T-Mobile version is also G970U, so it can be pretty much any carrier. USERDATA file is present in carrier firmware, if you flash unlocked firmware you won't need/have this file.
Link below is for S8, but works for S10 as well. Of course you would need to use firmware files for your phone. I would also use instructions under "Flashing standard firmware" first using Standard Odin. If you get an error when staring to flash, then use (Patched) Prince Comsy's Odin.

Thanks a lot. One last question. I'm based in Mexico (we only get Exynos here), so I got a U version to get the Snapdragon CPU. Obviously I don't want any US carrier branding/blotware in the phone since I couldn't benefit whatsoever from it. What about OTA's, though? Will I get them whenever Samsung releases an update for U1? Or will that depend on my carrier? Should I update monthly using Odin? Do I have to factory reset? So many questions :silly:
The link you provided doesn't work, btw. But I've since found some other Odin guides. Thanks!

I corrected the link in case you need it.
To answer OTA question: I had unlocked U1 model of S8 and when I flashed it with T-Mobile firmware then my phone got OTA from T-Mobile when they release it. I assume if you have carrier branded phone and flash it with U1(XAA) firmware then most likely your phone will get updates when Samsung releases them. You won't have to use Odin every time there is an update if you flash properly. Also, it would be advisable to flash using CSC file instead of HOME CSC, so your phone would be wiped. It is because you change firmware and want your software to be fully compatible. After flashing and you check your phone's software update and see that is shows "not compatible or something similar", then I would just suggest you to do "reset"(factory reset) from setting and after you setup your phone, that message will disappear. Also don't do any software update before flashing as you phone may get a fresher firmware than the one you might be trying to flash.
1) Check your current phone firmware
2) Download firmware you want, but if you can, get the firmware that is a previous one than the current one, so you will check to see how your phone gets OTAs
3) Flash using Odin
4) After that disconnect and let the phone do its thing
5) Set it up and check to see if software update section in settings don't give you any messages such as the one I outlined above, if it does, just factory reset the phone

How to get firmware to flash a Samsung SM-G973U1 (unlocked) to T-Mobile

I've seen a couple of threads about this here, but I'm confused about where I can get the firmware to flash an unlocked S10 (SM-G973U1) to T-Mobile firmware, and they've not really told me where to download the firmware that I need. One thread pointed at S10+ firmware, not useful to me, and the other didn't give any URL for downloading firmware.
Can anyone help me find the right firmware? I've used Odin before, and am fine with that. I also know that I have to have the right firmware for this to work *smile*.
Also, the firmware to flash back from T-Mobile to unlocked would be very useful, since I may want to change back to unlocked at some point. The reason that I want to flash T-Mobile firmware is since I'm still on the May 1 "monthly" Android security update on my unlocked S10. That doesn't make me happy, more than a quarter behind by this point...very disappointed.
Thanks!
There's a firmware thread here:

If the phone is SIM unlocked, the Firmware you want is the USC or XAA firmware... That way it will switch carriers apps and bloatware when you change sim cards...
Search for samfirm on google....
Have Fun!!

Flashing firmware from a different region

Hi all, I'm new to modding in general so there's many things I don't quite understand, hoping somebody can help.
I bought an S10 from a site which was supposed to just send me a refurbed (italian) S10, instead they sent me the US version, (G973U) and I believe it is carrier locked since it's stuck with Android 9 and doesn't find any update.
I have tried searching to no avail what I should flash to simply unbrand it, and allow it to receive OTA updates without tripping Knox.
The build version is the following: PPR1.180610.011.G973USQU2ASGC and the CRC is XAA/XAA/ATT
Thanks in advance.
You shall call them.
Who and what for? I'm past the point of dealing with those sellers, I just want to flash the phone.
CSC (not CRC).
XAA is a multi-region USA ROM, so I don't think it will change over properly for you in Italy. There are threads here for how you reflash a different ROM. The one I used for my S10+ was this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...e-links-and-flashing-discussion-here.3905897/ but I am sure there is one like that for your S10 non-plus... find it, follow the instructions, and you should be all set.
Thanks! I'm a newbie, what does it mean it wouldn't change properly? No OTAs? Tripping KNOX?
I have found this which seems to be the equivalent of the link you posted.
So, I should flash the U1 version right? However I see only a file "SAU - 1 - ....", and my build number doesn't end in that, furthermore I don't know which bootloader version I'm at.

Oh ok. I couldn't understand first.
For that, You'll flash in EDL mode. But the problem is if your device is powered by a snapdragon chip, it'll not working seamlessly.

No problem. I'm aware of the mode I have to enter to flash, as above I'm trying to figure out which stock rom I should flash to avoid tripping knox, and to receive OTAs. What won't work seamlessly?
Well, mods can close the thread, found the way to do it. Leaving it in case somebody ever needs it.
First, found & checked the bootloader version (5th number from the right in the build version) since you can only flash older bootloader versions apparently.
Then downloaded through Frija the rom for the unlocked phone variant (SM-G973U1) and the unbranded CSC (XAA)
Then using odin 3.13.3b flashed the rom

Hello, I'm in more or less same situation. When you flashed, which files did you use? All of them or just the AP_*** file?
Never mind. Flashed it anyway, now I don't see the AT&T startup screen anymore which is promising. Firmware version is now Android 11 (SM-G973U1 and not SM-G973U) on XAA CSC. Will see if I get any firmware updates later.
