After reading so many positive reviews about MI A2 camera, I finally bought it on amazon. But now the problem is I feel the A2 Rear camera is not good. But I am happy with the front camera, it is too good. So now I suspect I might got the refurbished model. What are the tests to do to find out the MI A2 Camera is not faulty? Or any other suggestion to fix the problem.
I have installed all the latest updates, currently with Android Pie July security patch.
Thanks in advance

Just make sure that it's focusing correctly.
Why is rear camera almost always taking blur images only in the left side of the picture? Right side is ok, front camera is amazing. Thanks.

Hello guys!
I would like to know if i can replace Xiaomi mi5 rear camera with a "compatibile" new one.
What i mean for compatibile, is if i buy a Google Pixel 2 camera and i attach to the phone, it will work, or i need software features to get that model, work on the Xiaomi?
Or can i just replace the camera with all same camera cable flez?

You actually can't do that buddy it won't fit first of all and even if you manage to fit it won't be working every camera part is programmed to work with one phone it cannot be replaced by any other smartphone camera

As a bonus; It's possible but needs TON of work to get camera running. The biggest problem is software.
Hey folks,
Any guesses as to when the google camera will be ported over to the snapdragon 855 S10s? I now the current ports are built on the Snapdragon 845 chipset, curious if it's quick/easy to port over for the 855, or if its going to be a few months.
LOVE my pixel 3 camera (who doesn't right?), but already ordered the S10, hoping I don't have to wait too long for the port.
Same here. Hehe i really want gcam camera. I hope other vwrsio work
Any news?
The same for Exynos is possible ?
I found this today:
https://piunikaweb.com/2019/03/02/samsung-galaxy-s10-gets-first-taste-of-google-camera-port/
Looks like an 845 version works on the 855, but only for the primary lens. I am sure with time the wide lens will also get the port. Can't wait!

Same , I would really like the devs to build one for the Exynos version tho. Hope it comes fast and works well too.

That's not a deal breaker. You can use the gcam port for the primary lens, and still use the stock camera for everything else. As long as night sight works on the primary lens, you can live with the stock camera aka samsung's jpeg processing for all other lens and compositions
I want GCam to take portrait in low light with flash...
sad!! no-one cares about our s10
Or should I invest in k30 pro zoom
Yes why not but if you not missing google apps go for P40 but i still hold now on my best P30 Pro i not need better phone
Go for it... You will not regret...
Everything is fine and top from my side
Personally I'm thinking of ditching mine for a Poco fw or mi 10.
The camera software is junk and overly compresses it making it look like a water colour painting.
With no bootloader unlock you're stuck with security updates rolling out seemingly randomly to different countries and apps that keep re enabling themselves after you've disabled them.
Not an ecosystem that works for me. But obviously others are happy with what they've got

Same applies to me. My previous phone was Pocophone f1. Rooted, with endless possibilities for ROM and customization. And now with p30 pro im stuck. No roms, no updates, camera software needs polishing. BTW cameras are good. I'm not 100% happy software wise. Looking something from Xiaomi, but their cameras doest have OIS on much lenses.

For what it’s worth I haven’t rooted a phone for over 5 years and probably never will again - stock Android 10 is plenty customisable for me and the security and warranty implications of rooting make it not worth the bother...
To the OP ... I purchased a brand new dual sim P30 Pro on eBay this week for £335 ... amazing price amazing battery life and still arguably the best cameras on any 2019 smartphone - if you can find a good deal take it ... you will NOT be disappointed
Well looks like I'm selling my p30 Pro.
Got a mi10 (non Pro).
Other than the macro lens (which is completely pointless) it's stunning. Even in pixel binning mode the main lens produces stunning photos that you can zoom in to and still see details. No overcompensated sharpening to get rid of excessive noise reduction and file compression here!
Hi all,
I have not been on the forums for a looong time.
I am about to upgrade from my P20 pro and I am trying to decide between the iPhone 12 Pro max, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and Xiaomi Mi11 Ultra.
The problem with the iPhone for me is the display refresh rate, the fingerprint scanner and the OS. I prefer Android and I prefer 120Hz refresh rate.
I am leaning towards both android choices. However I have watched all reviews and comparisons I could between these phones on youtube and I have a few issues:
1. I think I did not see a single review with the latest Mi 11 Ultra firmware and the xiaomi.eu ROM. This is bugging me because I cannot see a comparison with the latest updates on the cameras.
2. From the videos I watched it seems the selfie camera on the Mi 11 Ultra is a real letdown. And the rear camera used to take selfies also seem to produce bad results.
Can anyone who has used both phones give an honest opinion please?
Or someone who is using the latest firmware explain the impact of the updates since the release of the phone?
Thank you!

I am sad to hear this to be honest, but somehow I was always seeing things in both Android phones especially in video recording that were annoying as hell.
Or maybe I wait for Pixel 6 to see ...
I don't have a S21 Ultra or iPhone 12 Pro Max but I do have a P40 Pro which I still thought was the best camera phone to date.
When I bought Mi 11 Ultra, I was close to returning it because I couldn't be more disappointed by its camera performance after hearing how amazing this new sensor is. I wanted to wait for the P50 Pro even if it did not have Google app support as the camera is my #1 priority and I'm a light app user.
However, it's been a month or two and even being on CN stable firmware the camera has improved massively and I no longer regret my decision and have little complaints overall about the phone. I took a lot of sample shots on slightly older firmware in my main thread and overall I'm very pleased with the results and it can only keep improving given it's not even officially out still in some countries.
I'm now on v12.5.7 and to give you a rough idea of all the updates I received on the CN model, I've gotten at least 5 updates since receiving it. Most YouTubers such as MKBHD and MrWhosetheboss were still on early stock firmware that had no camera improvements and optimizations, while they compared it to the S21U and iPhone 12 Pro Max which were all well optimized by then. This meant their results weren't that great or convincing.

Everything improved across the board with one of the main updates that rolled out. Here's one which got the most attention that the majority of reviewers from what I've seen never got to test: https://min.news/en/tech/590f98d68b0fdbb259d5fd644b74d23c.html
There's been at least two more updates that were released after that one even they didn't mention camera improvements specifically. As for selfies, I don't take enough of them to say but I generally use the rear camera with the viewfinder for the best quality and it definitely delivers the results since the front one isn't great.

Just so you understand, the Xiaomi EU ROM is based on the Chinese stable or weekly beta ROMS. There are plenty of added extras on this against any of the stock versions but the EU Devs don't write any apps, just apply their template to the relevant release. So whatever the status is of the equivalent Chinese stock ROM will be the same version on the EU ROM.
I came from Huawei too, my last being the P40Pro Plus and my first Xiaomi was the 10 Ultra and I was very pleased and that continues with the 11 Ultra. I have used stock Chinese and Global ROMs with the 11 Ultra and just love the EU version. I use the weekly branch and have had no issues at all. It is a very good all round phone and matches if not surpasses the Huawei. I had to give in me due to the lack of GMS and locked bootloaders. It was such a shame when they went down that road. Thankfully Xiaomi don't mind if you unlock but do make you wait 7 days to complete the process but once unlocked, you can swap to any stock or custom ROMs you want. Telegram has groups making camera mods and of course you can use a g-cam variant too but for me stock EU camera is pretty dam good. Multicam, super moon, slow-mo, time lapse and more.
There are a few camera comparisons against the iPhone 12 about and I think the 11 Ultra is as good or not better in some but really it's down to Android verses Apple. Make the choice that suits but I think as a user's phone, the 11 Ultra is the better choice against a phone you can never tweak with Apples.
Buy Mi11 Ultra
Things like 67W charging, IR blaster, rear display, amazing camera trick features, you won't find this on any iPhone or Samsung, the customization on Xiaomi is unrivalled, nothing else comes close.
I switched from Note 20 Ultra to Mi11 Ultra and I am never going back to Samsung.
Also, the fingerprint sensor on Samsung Note 20 Ultra was terrible, the fingerprint on my Xiaomi Mi11 Ultra works literally every single time, it has not failed once. And I love the super wallpapers so much
This is an incredibly hard question to answer. Nobody can answer you objectively.
I have always had 2 phones - an android and an iPhone. I've only recently got the 11Ultra, coming from a Note 20. I also have a 12 Pro Max.
The mi is incredibly smooth - far more so than the iPhone. But I hated the Chinese underpinnings which you could never quite get rid of. Moving to the EU ROM today has sorted that.
What of the cameras? I'm still testing. I only started with my mi on 12.5.4 and then 12.5.7 so I missed the early firmware. They've always been very good. But so is the iPhone. The iPhone is also incredibly consistent in so many situations. The mi is phenomenal in good light - I just haven't yet been able to test it much in poor light yet, although I'm pleased with the initial results, I have to say.
The fast charging sealed the deal for me
The cooling is also better so it gets consistently higher scores from the SD 888 without throttling it down 10-20%
I would agree someone needs to do another test on YouTube when the phone and rear display has been optimized and fully functional
All the tests were done on pre release software vs optimized s21u and iPhone which was hardly fair
Honestly, apart from the design, this Xiami 11 Ultra is the best of the best (I only prefer Samsung for the phone design, but I like the Xiami too). It has a lot of potential and is blazing fast. Also the display is astonishing, and speaker quality incredible. I would recommend this phone to everyone.

This youtuber comparing with Miui 12.5.4
This is just my statement and opinion.
I'm going to try and be honest here. Me as a Mi 11 Ultra owner I was impressed and a bit jealous despite the 300-400€ difference when using my father's S21 Ultra(exynos) in 2 aspects.
One is the screen brightness with direct sunlight. i thought the all 1700nits would "shine true" but i got duped. The visibility of the S21 Ultra is much better, both using max brightness sunlight. I am not sure if Xiaomi activated the already enabled direct sunlight option, i had read somewhere that the brightness reaches better results on S21U but that's another topic.
Two is the camera...
I got mind blown when i bought the mi 11 Ultra and i got mind blown again about the quality of the zoom on S21U, without even going past 10x.
The S21U with the 3x and 10x camera app smooth change between lenses and the sharpness of the zoom photos during live preview. A more Mature camera app indeed and the stabilization of the zoom camera by focusing on the object and not having to have a firm hand... wow!
I couldn't test it during nightshots cause i was with him for a brief moment, but that is what i could have "won" in a way, but Mi11U enhances the nightshots photos after the photo is taken, not that much during live preview.
Not to discourage other Xiaomi Fans out there but Xiaomi has indeed been lacking the transparency and focus of the Software.
Samsung July patch notes note said that was made some improvements to the camera performance
Another thing is that Xiaomi MIUI patches notes are the same across all the devices and not specific of the model. Like generic and uninteresting, you don't even know if they are making adjustments to the camera app on a specific model.
But i'm going to stop with all the blathering for now.
What is your goal with this post? What do you want to tell us? The camera of the Mi11 Ultra is far above the camera of the S21, regarding to DXOMark.

In the same test you see the display of the S21u scoring higher then the Mi11 Ultra. So yes, you are right.
Everyone has his/hers own reasons to buy a specific phone. I dont like Samsung for its UI and i dont like the esthetics of the S21u. Maybe you do, so buy a S21u?

You have to read the carefully the post i made mate.
I said on top, its my opinion that S21U is better at zoom, even if DXOmark biases or unbiases only grants 98 points against 131.
Benchmarks are benchmarks and DXOmark has a controversy of favoring Huawei and Xiaomi phones (you can read it in other places) and also Software improvements are not taken in consideration. The software released of S21Ultra had alot of issues but they fixed according to what i know and this topic was made now cause my father only bought it now.
Beside i don't look at one site and be done with it. You see alot of Youtubers talk about zoom pictures being better on S21Ultra
Also do you wonder why DXOmark never shares the specific version number of the software they test even if you ask them? talk about transparency...
And again with the Dxomark scores on Screen. Xiaomi talks about 1700nits against the Samsung 1500nits and yet i saw major difference with my eyes.
I bought the Mi11ultra because i love MIUI and this phone has alot of other functionally that other don't all in one.
I won't buy S21U. i already have purchase my device, this is a post to take in consideration, thats all.
I'm not in blind love of my MI11ultra.

I'm neither in blind love of my Mi 11 ultra. But your main point is: Samsung did a better job on their software updates than Xiaomi?
Let's hope Xiaomi will release better software soon or custom roms to fix it. And well, when i have a S21U in my own hands i will compare them.

I don't know guys what kind of shots you need to do with a camera, Mi 11 Ultra camera to me seems incredible and that's enough, if I want better shot I buy a proper camera in my opinion
In my little and personal opinion, Xiaomi fits outstanding hardware in its phones but it clearly loses on software and optimization which I think is a more difficult task than gathering hardware. If Samsung would ship its phone with the kind of sensors Mi 11 ultra has, they might outperform Mi 11 ultra easily. Even Xiaomi's flagships such as Mi 11 ultra have outdated security updates and buggy user interface such as its dark mode; I'm living with a phone whose dark mode bugs make me change homescreen icon layout twice daily in order to get my widgets and google feed follow the device's theme. Mind it, I payed $1000 for this "luxury" and such is the experience of it. I envy S21 ultra users using their phones with the most recent Android security patch installed.
Im sorry if I hurt someone here by saying this.
I debated a lot between the two phone. Went with Xiaomi because :
1. I can use gcam (the camera will improve with time). This is not available with the Exynos S21, or very limited.
2. Better wide angle lens.
What i really miss, and in my opinion it's the biggest flaw with the Mi 11 Ultra camera: Macro. Basically doesn't exist. What is even worse is the fact that cropping from the main lens at 50MP yields much better macro results that using the dedicated macro mode. I mean...common Xiaomi.
So I bought an external 100mm macro lens, but it doesn't fit the M11U because the camera bump is too thick :/

There is also Samsung with snapdragon and with working GCam.
Is the Snapdragon version just a single sim? I looked myself but I'm sure only the Exynos had dual SIM but this was before it launched but still interested to know.

Now that you meantion I also tried experimenting with "macro" cause the option is there and its on the Ultrawide and it can't seem to focus, i get better results with telescope lens while keeping some distance from target. but still lacks.
Xiaomi said that they didn't place a macro camera cause they found a way to use 2 lens into 1, the Ultrawide.
I wonder if gcam has a option to improve focus on the ultrawide and if it's only xiaomi camera software that it's not working properly.

You're limited by the focal range of the lense.
A ultra wide macro would likely need an attachment ie extension tube/lense for it to work. Because you don't have access to the primary lense not sure how well that work.

True, but the silly thing is that you can just take a photo with the main lens and 50MP mode and crop. You still get high res photo and the macro is FAR better than what you get with the dedicated macro mode.
They should just change the dedicated macro mode to be a crop of 50MP main camera.
