Adjusting balance. - HTC One Mini 2

Hello! I recently replaced the screen and the frame of my phone, but the top speaker got damaged. The problem is that on higher volume the speakers make a horrible buzzing sound. I heard the same story about many HTC one devices after replacing the screen, speaker being glued on the frame. I saw on a topic for HTC One M8 that someone resolved this by lowering the volume of the problematic speaker. I want to know how to adjust the balance permanently from the mixer_paths.xml because I have no idea what to change in this file. I don't want to buy another speaker because the shipping would cost 5 times more than the object itself.

my simple fix for Crack/muffled/distorted/blown speaker issue

This is a TEMPORARY FIX.
i have muffled/distorted/cracked/blown speaker.
whatever you guys called it.
i opened the case, and notice its the left speaker that is causing problem, the other speaker is working fine.
if there is only a way to shut down the spoiled speaker. cutting the power cable to that speaker is risky, and may cause more damage, and ruined the chance to get it fixed in the future.
so what i did was cut a piece of paper, folded it multiple times to be about 0.2cm thick.
place it on top of the spoiled speaker, then close the back case. the paper will press the spoil speaker and stop it from making any sound.
my tablet can now play sound at max volume with no distortion.
this is just a temporary fix until the ASUS service center at my place receive the spare part for speaker replacement. which may take months.
Instead of doing all that faffing around. Can't you just use the poweramp app and use the sound settings menu to cut off volume to that speaker by turning the knob towards the opposite speaker in the balance option. Although I don't know if this will totally decrease the output to the affected speaker.

Even if this works, it only works in the power amp app.
If you watch YouTube videos, the speaker still blown sound.
My temp fix really works through out all app that produce sound.
And it is reversible. Just remove the paper and its back to the blown state.
Just a temporary fix until asus service center have the spare part to replace my speaker.
I had the same problem and read in another thread somewhere that the speaker grill to the "broken" one had popped up.
I took the back cover off and just pressed the speaker down. Worked perfectly.
I sent in my Nexus 7 after the speaker blew after a month. They sent me a new one after a week. Unfortunately it's still the C60 series but fingers crossed that there's no more problems.

Earpiece not working after Battery Replacement, any ideas?

I replaced the battery in my wife's phone and immediately afterwards I hear no audio from the earpiece. When I plugin headphones I can hear audio fine from the headphones, youtube pauses when I remove the headphones which indicates it does know that the headphones aren't plugged in and should be sending audio to the earpiece. Does anybody have any idea what connections might be the issue? I have taken the thing apart 4 times trying to find what connector might be misaligned with no luck thus far and really don't want to have to get another phone.
Same exact problem here...
Hi there archangelus2,
Have you ever found a fix to the problem? I also noticed that my loud speaker is now not as loud as it used to be... and by trial and error, I found out that squeezing the top right corner (looking at the screen) it gets a bit louder so I guess that some of the contacts aren't touching well or some other odd crap is going on. The phone is easy enough to open and take apart (if you know what you're doing and are very careful and gentle), but I did notice that given the complains that have been posted post-repair, it does not seem to be too reliable when putting it all back together. The earpiece going completely mute is complete nonsense for instance as there isn't all that much that could go "wrong" in those contacts and I wonder if something gets messed up at the software level after a replacement of hardware like the battery, is performed.
Any help and info will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers! and stay

Is there anyway that you accidentally messed with the earpiece? There is a small rubber protector inside the phone on top of the earpiece, I suggest you check to make sure this is positioned properly on the speaker.
Best of luck,
Matt
Yes, I just got my earpiece fixed. I had a 16 GB AT&T model who's sound was terrific. Then i got greedy and went for a 32 GB latin american model (some telecom I forgot the name of) its earpiece sound was extremely low. I ordered 2 earpieces from ali express just in case they were to be changed. Yesterday I took it to a shop and the guy fixed the original earpiece by applying some tape around the earpiece to focus the sound out of one way and now its as good as new. $10 and am happy.
So yeah probably in your case I'd say he kinda misplaced the earpiece. You may get it checked.

Increase only VoiceCall Volume over the limit

Hi everyone,
the voice-call-volume on my unrooted HTC One M7 is very low, maybe be speaker got some minor problem.
When I listen to music for example the upper speaker volume is lower than the other, but that doesn't bother me.
My problem is that I barely understand the person I'm calling.
So I'm searching for an app that boosts only the in-call-volume.
Apps like "Volume+" or "Speaker Boost" are not useful for me, because they boost every sound on the device, so than the other sounds like notification are too loud.
Is there a way I can boost only my in-call-volume over the limit?
Thanks
Nobody?
I am also curious...
I saw on the Samsung forum that there is a option by pressing special codes. Is that also available for HTC One M7?
I solved the problem.
The voice-call volume was so quiet because the speaker holes were full with dust and dirt.
So I took a toothbrush and cleaned them up carefully.
The best way is to slide the toothbrush in a small angle.

Disable the lower speaker

I had a little accident with my M7. I dropped it from the 2nd floor, thank god the screen didn't break. Just some scratches and dents. Unfortunately the lower speaker got blowen. Now every time the phone rings or I play any video or music I hear the lower speaker with high distortion. So I need help from the developers to completely disable the lower speaker. I know it's possible since the speakers are stereos. Fixing it is not an option for me now.

Top and Bottom Speaker sound differently

Hey, I realized that the top and bottom speaker of my XZ1 Compact sound differently (bottom one is quite a bit louder and sounds fuller). After contacting Sony Customer Service and showing them the issue, they agreed on repairing the phone by replacing the top speaker. However after the "repair" it was still the same, the top one doesn't sound as good as the bottom one. Could someone on STOCK please dail *#*#7378423#*#* > select Service test > and compare left and right speaker (the easiest way to do that is by listening to one speaker for only 2 sec, go back, listen to the other speaker or 2 sec and repeat...) Thanks
Just ran the test on stock USA firmware, latest version. I notice a slight difference in that the right speaker is very slightly louder sounding, but the difference isn't great. As I understand it certain compromises are made to permit the left speaker being used as an earpiece with sufficient low volume sensitivity. As far as I know, all stereo phones that I've had where one of the speakers functions as an earpiece all have this discrepancy to a greater or lesser degree. It's quite different from the tweeter/woofer arrangement that HTC uses in some of their phones in that, despite the slight discrepancy between the speakers, there is a true stereo left and right channel.
okay, thanks for clarifying. I guess I just have to get used to it...
Funny that you know it better than Sony's Service Center
i noticed it too but i think it's totally legit as left/upper one is also used as earpiece.
maybe putting the same hardware on the bottom speaker would have lead to lower sound power or it's just cheaper.. don't know
