Xiaomi refuse to unlock my Redmi Note 7 ? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi all !
I tried muliple times to unlock my phone. I have to wait a week each time but the unlock software tells me to wait an additionnal week all the time.
Is it possible that Xiaomi refuse to unlock my phone ? I don't understand what's going on.
I searched for an alternative option it seems it doesn't exist yet.
Anyone has the same problem ?
Thanks.

If I remember now Xiaomi took 60 days to give unlock code, while before it took 15 days

It's been 3 months now. I think I would buy another device. The Xiaomi politic about unlocking is crap. I'm wasting my time.

I don't know my problem was similar to yours, but this is what happened to me.
I had to wait 1 week to unlock my bootloader. When the week was over, the unlocking tool (Mi Flash) told me I need to use the device a few more days. Instead of waiting, I downloaded an old version of the unlock tool, which made it possible to unlock the phone right away (instead of waiting a few more days).
This is the version of Mi Flash I used. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-F6_jbKa-OsbUFCZm1TUk9lMEE/view

I'm also having the same issue.

Gonna try this. Thanks for this mate.

To me the problem is bigger than just this.
Now imagine a compagny that build your house. Now you want to open a window but you have to ask the compagny guy first and he says no.

Well, then you need to complain to most smartphones companies out there.

Back in the days Nexus models was so cools for developpers. There's a difference between complex method and the fact you need online key to unlock your phone. I don't understand this politic that most of the time encourage hacking. :silly:

I waited like a week the moment after I take it out of the box. Do you did the Mi account steps properly? It sounds stupid, but I could be a problem.

You MUST follow the steps with care! Never try shortcuts or alternative methods .... Use the phone during the wait period with the Sim card inserted ... And you are good.
If you are not either you did not follow precisely the instructions or gave Xiaomi reasons to believe you are attempting to unlock too many phones too fast (unofficial reseller, the reason the wait time exist).
Bug in the process can exist of course... But sincerely it's difficult I nthos case.

Yeah. Everything is fine except the fact Xiaomi refuse to unlock my phone.

Thanks for putting that one up.
Unfortunately also with this olderversion I have to wait for 167 ours
I have tried with the latest version before, don't know if that makes a difference for setting the waiting period.
First try for me, going to wait for a week and see if I can unlock then.

I think you did something wrong the first time, like removing your mi account or trying to unlock with some unofficial ways ... And that triggered the loop. I mean, without realizing you did it.
At this point, if I was you, I would stop trying anything, use the phone with MIUI, after a factory reset and putting back again the mi account, for a couple of weeks, without trying anything.
After that, try the unlock procedure again, wait the week once more, and the you should be fine

You'll have to wait for 167 hours anyway. However, if Mi Flash asks you to use the device a couple more days (generally 72 hours) after the waiting period is over (in your case 168hrs), then you should use the old Mi Flash version, as it bypasses that additional waiting time.

Actually everythings was fine. After weeks of pain I finnaly managed to unlock my device. After 4 attempts... I don't know why Xiaomi does this but it's such a waste of time.
Thanks all for your answers.

Nexus 6 strange lock ?

Hello everyone,
First of i want to mention that it`s my first experience with Nexus device after so many years so don`t blame me
well my friend bought Nexus 6 and it was all good (about hours) then he did factory reset and bad things just started... he was unable to complete setup, he was writing e-mail and pass and it was going back to WiFi select, also he could not skip WiFi select. someone said Google block but i never heard of it (i have z2 which has custom oem os so i don`t think it`s present there). well so how to get rid of that? he also can`t unlock boot because of DEV OPTION check and so on -_-
thanks in advanced

Was this bought used? Sounds like the previous owner didn't have the device ready for sale, and they'd need to log into it in order for your friend to activate it.

Is there any other way to unlock BootLoader?

Like the titles says, is there any other way to unlock bootloader besides applying for it and waiting ~15 days for it ? It seems ridiculous to wait that long.
That unlock rush seems to have tided over for now. My unlock approval came within 2 days.

Same problem by me, one day i just tried to log me in the unlocking tool and it did work, i jsut didn't get a notification from Xiaomi. Perhaps some problem with my carrier or something.
I got the sms within 2 days and have successfully unlocked my mi5... afaik that's the only way to unlock the bootloader for now

Currently that's the only way to do it.
But the unlocking process is nowhere near the level of frustration others were having few months ago.
I've got unlock permission in 2 days. So it's not 2-3 weeks like before, along with the rejected request.
I'm also not much active on miui forum, don't have godlike status there, but having MI account since 2013.
I also didn't have to write my request in Chinese, so all in all, it was a smooth process for me.
Now the play begins! Hopefully without bricking my device

I've just got this phone new, and let me get this right....

I've got to wait 360 HOURS if I want to unlock this thing? AND give them my mobile number and email address???
Is that right? And nobody has thought thats ****ing weird til now?
I'm glad I haven't opened the box yet, think this will be being returned...

Yeah, it really sounds like you need to send it back. using custom roms on a Xiaomi device isn't for you?
The 2 week wait is a security measure, and it was needed due to scammers. Yes, we all waited and honestly don't care to hear the whining. Hate to be a **** but it appears that you have been around long enough to know.
If you read more, you will see why Xiaomi choose to make people wait two weeks, and yes you absolutely must register your phone. It's actually very useful because you can enable Mi Cloud to backup and restore whatever files and programs/data should you need to wipe the device, and its the reason why the phone is unbrickable for the people that registered their devices.
Again, tens of thousands of us are just fine with all of that.
If that bothers you then please do return it, and you will never know what a perfect device the Mi8 truly is.
The Mi8 is without a doubt one of the best phones for using custom roms, and we have a lot of great developers here, the camera is fantastic and even better when using the most recent Pixel Camera Mod
To go on, the recent beta Android 10 Miui is far superior to stock.
Another option is to downgrade and buy the Xiaomi A3 which comes with Android One and there is no wait to unlock the bootloader.
Sorry for being Harsh, but I surely answered your questions.
O understand why,and like you say, I've been here years with hundreds of devices.
It just seems odd they have my number, email and all access for 15 days whilst I get ’nothing’ back in that time. any thing I can do whilst waiting? Like root or app removal? Ad blocks...etc...?

It's not that odd, the phone is warranteed. Personally, I register the warranty on everything I buy that costs a lot of money. At this point Xiaomi may make occasionally blunders. But I truly believe that they are highly ethical. They have had none of the Drama that certain other companies have had and they are one of the few who still allows for the bootloader to be unlocked.
There is plenty you can do, if you are fully updated to the recent Miui 11, you can turn off as, and using a non root ad blocking program such as Blokada or a Firewall program such as Adclear.. which works well.
Google how to properly bind your account to device or it could take longer. Your account must be bound to MiCloud and syncing. Once that part is setup then you can unlock the bootloader after 15 days.
Once you understand how it works you will find that it's actually very easy.
On the other hand, other devices such as One Plus are actually much more of a pain ( for some) due to their partitioning privileges structure.
Bide your time, and you will find it surely worthwhile. Slot of good information is available here in XDA which can be supplemented further by participating in Mi Community, at least initially, there is a lot of good steps with illustrations available and the users are highly active with being helpful.
Edit: Absolutely make sure that you register with correct information or you will be screwed. The account register your and IMEI, which again makes the phone much more secure.
Finally, during the 2 weeks read and take notes, this way you will know exactly what to do, when it's time to unlock the bootloader. I suggest using the Xiaomi. EU rom but that's a personal preference, there are plenty of time to choose from.
sadly I cant use this phone with my proper, usual sim card as I cant use it daily without root features I need, so I just have it with a spare sim in it for the 2 weeks and leave it at home, using my current phone. I will then unlock it with this spare sim in and then do the bootloader/twrp/kernals/roms...etc which I'm guessing will be ok to do? I wont be using a miui rom on it when it's finished, I had no intention of using miui when I got the phone, it was only bought for the hardware.

168h unlock waiting time

I know there are many posts regarding the 168h unlock waiting period out there. That is what makes it so difficult to figure out if there is a confirmed way to circumvent the problem.
Is there?

Yes it is possible. The solution is to wait 7 days then try unlocking again. This is the only way to get around it, all other methods to try and bypass the 168 hours do not work.

Which problem and what to figure out and circumvent?!
When you apply to unlock they tell you to wait 168 hours = 7 days
You just need to follow and after exactly 7 days you come back and unlock your Bootloader - very simple
Been there, done that... no choice
I received my Mi 9T Pro, and just like my previous phones (Mi Mix 2S 7 days, Mi Mix 2 was < 3-4 days) I had to wait 7 days. My Mi Mix was a lot less time (and I learned the hard way), I believe it was 3 days or so but it was longer for me because I was trying different hacks to circumvent the delay. All I was doing was resetting the start time when it would fail. So for now, put the phone away and come back to it in 7 days and it works like a charm when unlocking.
Cheers

General Let me save you new guys A LOT of headache

When the phone launched. See My Original Thread I was one of the first guys in here tinkering, exploring, flashing .EU ROM on the China Model etc.
I kept the phone for a few months. Really enjoyed it then I moved on.
I recently imported another device and THERE ARE SOME MAJOR CHANGES.
The bootloader unlock time on my early models (I bought and sold about 3 of them) was 7 days (160 something hours)
The bootloader unlock time is now 576 HOURS. Which initially thought wasn't a big deal. Honestly I never minded the China ROM all that much. However China ROM 12.5.17 is broken as hell for a western user. I mean notifications are completely broken. Which shocked me because I previously used 12.5.4 without any issues.
I don't mean slightly broken. On all the previous CN Roms I could make my notification experience work fine with a bit of tinkering. 12.5.17. They just are bugged as hell. They barely come through over wifi. No matter what settings in MIUI you pick. I could go on and on. But that's not my point.
My point is this. If you're a new buyer. DO NOT UPDATE THE ROM OTA that is available out of the box. You will basically have an unusable phone for a month if you do. Just use the build that is on the phone by default are manually apply a more recent OTA package. But if you've got a 576 hour wait to unlock the bootloader. You don't want to deal with the 12.5.17 issues I dealt with.
I ended up using a paid EDL service which I WILL NOT NAME. Because it violates XDA terms. But I flashed 12.0.13 CN via EDL mode and ALL MY ISSUES ARE GONE. I'll use my outdated ROM until my bootloader is unlocked then flash .EU
Just wanted to save you guys some headache.

I guess there's something to do with your Mi account. If you unlock "too many" phones with your account you may get restricted.
If you open a new account you might be able to unlock in 168 hours.

High risk. High reward. If it works then I get in earlier. If not I restart at 576 hours
i also think it has to do with your account and not 11 ultra or xiaomi's models
Yeah, I made the mistake of updating, the notifications are a nightmare... don't work at all and there's no way to fix it.
hey, in order to track, collect, store and provide as much data as possible, it is verly likely to implement such an devastating barrier. the data sets appear to be more relevant and you can percept more equivalenze to individuals. bit late sorry but for further details consider this and keep an eye on it.
BsodenJeff said:
dear archer, im a data scientist from western europe managing large darabases and analysing data structures especially on mobile phones. first of all let me say, i try to handle your request in english. hopefully no misunderstandings.
there are several data mechanics "build in" in xiaomi devices, which are programmed to extract as much data as possible, while the user by itself should not be able to manage those data in a certain way. however by importing those models to other parts of the world, they need a round up but xiaomi failed to provide a total fix of their rom guided to western world data privacy rules. (privacy rules variates from country to country)
here we go.
gallery has build in features to track and collect as much as it can and even if indicated to store it hidden on parrellel partitions and storage sectors. while upgrading (or downgrading) your rom and rom features by ota or several further update options it may happen that those unwanted data services from miui rom and its "specific" features causes applications to misbeheviour. thats related to some android key essentials and is not caused by you in most common reasons. particularily the users will notify by strange force closes or empty data sets shown up or even unwanted data appeares to be collected to storage visible to everybody.
to fix this you should rather run custom rom(with mostly less over all security components, very sadly) or look out for a stock rom stable precisivly modified to fit but hard to find. you eventually buy another mobile. in this particular case try to manually back up your third party data u want to keep, save your accounts and stuff, make sure you do not loose any important provider settings and just change release. i would recommend you to look for another mobile.
more informations probably soon but please keep in mind, strange things going on with our data cannot tell you guys much more actually right now hopefully soon.
