Hi
Since PIE roms for santoni are available, some people, including me, can't root their santoni.
I don't know why.
Flash looks ok in recovery, but after reboot, Magisk Manager says that Magisk isn't installed.
I tried every solution found in forums here, but everytime, same result : "magisk isn't installed"...
So sad !
Could you guys (and girls) centralize here your solutions, step by step, from flash the rom to root it...
It would be so nice for helping desperate people...
I also tried SuperSU and am having the same problem. I've tried Magisk 17.1, 17.2 and the Canary build along with the newest SuperSU and the result is always the same. Flashes fine but Magisk Manager and SuperSU apps can't find root.
The weird thing is that Enpass always tells me that my device is rooted and that it's a security risk even though Magisk Manager can't find root.
Also, I'm positive Magisk is patching the ramdisk. The Uninstaller always finds a Magisk-patched image. I'm assuming something has to be happening during boot that's cancelling root.
Two things I don't understand :
- why some people, with same configuration, don't have root problem ?
- why, with same recovery, same flash method, root works with nougat/oreo rom, and doesn't work with pie...?
Just like that : do you think problem could come from the sd card ?
I'm using à 128 gb samsung sd-card. Maybe I should format it before trying again root ?
I'm not sure it's the problem, since I can flash all roms, but I could try...
Or flash Magisk from internal storage ?

I´m in the same situation like you.
Yesterday I made a new experience of that without solution:
- Backuped all
- Uninstalled magisk at twrp
- Installed santoni_twrp_silent 27_treble (recommended from dev to install havoc)
- Rebooted
- Formated data with factory reset
- Wiped vendor, cache, data... (everything)
- Installed havoc (version 2018-09-08)
- Rebooted
- Installed magisk at twrp
- Rebooted
Same issue like before...
If I try to install magisk on magisk manager I get the following log:

It seems magisk can´t install correct in cause of failing permissions to create new directories. But why?

Ok, but I wiped AND format data of internal storage, same results.
Do you think I should format/wipe micro-sd too ?

I don´t think so. Well, if you like you can try, but I think it´s an internal problem, not an external
So,
I tried another wipe of internal storage, made a format data with recovery. Then I flashed another pie rom, then magisk. And after reboot : tada !! still not working...
try with version 16.6 of magisk

I just tried this and it didn't work for me either. I tried multiple clean flashes, flashed MIUI then back to Pie and flashing things in different orders last night and nothing worked. I'm tired of messing with it. I don't know how to get logs without root. I've come to the conclusion that for now I either have Pie or root. Not both. lol
Me too. I stop trying every day a solution.
For the moment, no root for pie roms, so I keep staying with oreo roms (nice dot OS...) I can root.
Hope next builds of pie roms will accept to be rooted on our santoni...
You can try this:
1 Flash Magisk v 17.2, Reinica in fast boot mode, turn it off and turn the phone on again
2 Install Magiskmanager V6 APK, do not open and restart in recovery
3 Flash Magisk v 16.6 and ready...
It worked for me... important, do not update magisk... The root is lost again

That's what I've been using. Also tried TWRP. Neither worked for me. The flash always looks good with no errors but when I boot the ROM Magisk says it's not installed.
I just realize to make magisk work on pie roms i realize that i need dev miui firmware not stable miui firmware the file you need is named fw_santoni_miui_HM4XGlobal_8.9.20_3219de02e5_7.1.zip i not sure why stable firmware wont work on magisk.
i used OrangeFox Recovery Project R8.1 for recovery
1. install rom PixysOS 2.1 as normal (clean flash). Note: LineageOS 16.0 also works I have tested it
2. boot up os to make sure it that everything is working
3. then reboot back to recovery
4. flash firmware zip file named fw_santoni_miui_HM4XGlobal_8.9.20_3219de02e5_7.1

Hello everybody.
I've read that 18.1 supports 4.2+ so I've tried to install in two MTK6589T devices I've. One running 4.2, the other running 4.4
CMW/TWRP gave an error mounting system, so I mounted system manually and it started flashing. Firstly it detected old root installed and disabled the old root. But when it tried to find the boot, installation was aborted because installator claims cannot find the boot on both phones.
Then I though, okay, lets reboot back to android, I will try to install a few days later, maybe its buggy now, but both phones cannot boot.
I can easily fix them by flashing rom again I guess, but I would like to know where's the issue and also post it for more people could face the same problem.
Any idea where's the problem/how to fix without rom reflashing? I've tried magisk uninstaller but after mounting system in recovery it is also giving error.

UPDATE: For now, if no other solution is found, bootloop can be bypassed by dirty installing the rom again. But it has to be an easier workaround...
We know now that the problem is caused because of two factors merging:
1- Using Magisk.zip installer through custom recovery
2-In the case that the custom recovery CMW/TWRP installed in the phone is very old (for instance, CMW automade for MTK6589X or TWRP 2.5.0).
While installing, Magisk tries to send commands to the custom recovery that cant be understood by it, leaving the installation incomplete after some modifications in /system (read below recovery log).
Acording to the recovery, it seems that Magisk did some modifications without running correctly survival script - Adding addon.d survival script ("Unrecognized option '-Xnodex2oat'") and .zip installer is not designed to revert actions in this case.
Also, Magisk couldn't reach the boot modification step, so boot is not damaged, therefore workarounds for restoring boot won't work.
Using Magisk Unistaller.zip is also not possible as the uninstaller is mainly designed for boot backup restoration, and again, this is not the case.
Currently needed: Find what's wrong in system due to the incomplete Magisk installation to revert it back to the original state (before faulty magisk.zip installation).

I' also having the same problem. My Samsung J2 Prime stuck at logo after updating to 18.1. Any tips on how to fix it without resetting my phone? Thanks.
Update: Bootloop fixed. I used TWRP to restore boot image. I then update Magisk by flashing zip file from TWRP. Everything went back to normal. Hope this help.

If you have a backup of your boot image, you can just restore it using TWRP. But in case that you have no backup of boot image, you can try to get boot image from the internet and restoring using it. In my case, this is what I did.
1. Go to TWRP and then make backup of boot image of the faulty phone*. (Folder 1)
2. I used another J2 prime to create a boot image backup. (Folder 2)
3. Once that is done, copy and replace the files inside the Folder 2 into Folder 1.
4. Reboot to TWRP again then use that to restore the boot image on my stuck J2.
Tips: make backup in SD card so you can easily swap it in between the bad and good phone.
*This is to create a folder of the backup file. I did tried to directly copy and paste the backup boot image file from another good phone but TWRP didn't detect it. So this is the workaround that I come with. And it worked for me.
Thanks for your answer but I doubt your case is mine. Your device is much newer than mine and according to your comment, you've sucesfully installed previous version of Magisk without issues. This is not a problem while updating, as Magisk v. earlier than 18.1 was not compatible with android 4.2+. I think Magisk is not compatible with MT6589T even if they run 4.2 or 4.4.
I think that it cannot be a boot problem as TWRP/CWM displayed msg 'Boot cannot be found' while installing Magisk, so that I don't think boot was replaced or modified in any ways. Moreover, the bootloop is not in the boot loading, as phone can pass boot image without any problem, but it is stuck in android loading image. I'm thinking in some script or root modification that Magisk did before trying to unpack the boot, however I'm not that deep into the Magisk install to find the proper workaround.
I can restore boot backup and also I can take boot file from the original rom and flash, because in Mediatek-based devices, boot.img is inside de zip, but I dont think it will solve the problem. Anyhow I'll get back ASAP with the answer.
Any more ideas??
Nothing, boot/uboot restoration or flashing again just the boot won't fix the problem, so it's something that Magisk installator touch in /system or /data I guess, but what?

@trol_sg I'm gonna guess it's got to do with the absolutely ancient TWRP you're using. It just can't handle everything that the Magisk installation script is trying to do...
Your best bet (if Magisk will work at all on your device) is to patch the boot image with the Magisk Manager and then flash the patched image manually. There are new and shiny installation instructions available here: https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/

Thank you so much for your answer. So it's the recovery, but can't find newer ones, sadly. Too old phones I know, but just curious if I could make Magisk working on them, lol.
I was going into the boot modification manually right now, but in order to patch the boot I need manager installed first, and phone couldn't boot so I did dirty flash of the rom to be able to boot into it again.
Lets see what happens then. I'll be right back.
Anyhow, this is not a solution to fix the problem of bootloop that I am requesting help in case someone could face the same and did not make a backup of the phone and didn't want to make dirty re-flash. Any idea?
Update: After I did dirty flash of the rom, and now Jiayu g3s android 4.4 booted.
UPDATE: So, after patching manually boot and installing (using restore in TWRP 2.5 as image flash is not yet implemented AFAIK), phone booted and yes Magisk is working.
Magisk installation .zip through a very old recovery is making the bootloop. So that, a thing learnt now.
But, for other people facing this bootloop, can we do a research to find what magisk.zip did to the phones to leave them in bootloop? Maybe we can revert without rom flashing easily if we knew what's the issue...

Doing a bit more tests I found that magisk.zip did something in /system so that it is left in bootloop, but still no idea why/whats causing that...
There are delay complete boot like 4 5 second in j7 prime. I didn't love this version

This method won't work in my case as in the step:
- installed magisk uninstall = gives error
Note 5 is much newer phone with a recent recovery TWRP that allows all Magisk.zips commands, but unluckyly not this case.
Also, this method is for wrong boot installation/damaged boot. In my case what Magisk damage is /system, not boot.
I wish it could be boot, because that is very easy to fix (flashing through fastboot/SP Flash tools in the case of MTK, recovering boot twrp "backup" even if you didn't make backup...) as you mentioned.
Hope someone have a great idea to revert system to origin, then we could post the solution for those who would like to install Magisk in 4.2+ old phones, and instead of doing boot flash manually, they try to flash magisk.zip and they got bootloop.

The only part of the Magisk installation that actually touches /system is if it installs the addon.d survival script. The log you posted earlier shows that it's trying to do this, for some reason, and failiing. I'd start looking there...
Installing Lineage
Few quick things.
LOS 18.1 is now official so the guide will now just be covering that.
I also want to address a common question, you can use Windows for this process. I prefer Linux, and Fastboot just works in Linux without driver issues. If you have Fastboot and ADB working in Windows already feel free to use that if you want.

Using TWRP 3.5.2_9-01. Start off Fresh. Install OOS using the Fastboot ROM.
Start off with a fresh install of OOS. You need the latest version of OOS 10. I typically use a the fastboot ROMs for this as it will do both slots for me at once. (Alternatively you can use TWRP and install the ZIPs and do it twice to get it on both slots, or my least favorite, the MSM Tool if you want. Doesn't matter how OOS ends up on both slots, as long as it ends up on both slots.)
I use Linux, and honestly I feel like it's easier and more reliable for fastboot and ADB so that's what I'm including here in these steps. It's easy to boot from a USB.
To create a bootable Linux flash drive you can use Unetbootin, which you can download for free here (Your other option would be to burn the ISO straight to a DVD and skip the unetbootin step):

Point it to the Linux ISO, and tell it where an empty flash drive is. It will erase everything on the flash drive. Afterwards you can load whatever you want on the flash drive. However be aware when booting Linux from this drive you can't access what is on the drive (at least not by normal methods).
After this has successfully completed, reboot the PC, and boot from the USB drive. Your PC will boot into Linux (turning off the PC and removing the USB drive will make it boot up like normal again).
Next we need to install fastboot and adb. You need to open up the "start menu" and open the "synaptic package manager". You can find this stuff in the menus, however the easiest way to get to these items is to just start typing the name of the item. See below:
Search fastboot, click the boxes, choose install. Then search for ADB, click the boxes, choose install and then click apply. It's that easy it will download everything that's needed and install.
Time to open up a terminal:
Just to make sure we don't run into any problems we need to update adb and fastboot. In the terminal run these commands to update fastboot and adb (this is downloading them directly from Google).

sudo cp platform-tools/fastboot /usr/bin/fastboot
You will also need the appropriate fastboot ROM. Fastboot ROMs available in this thread. The catch being that thread is no longer updated. So we will need to make our own fastboot rom. To do this we need two things:
1. The stock rom zip (OP Site).
2. Payload dumper. I've yet to get the one from the GitHub link to work, so I've been using the one from this Article. Direct Download Link
You need to extract the payload.bin file from the stock rom zip. Extract the payload_dumper files as well, and place everything in the same folder. Payload_dumper requires python3. Open up Synaptic again, search for python3.6 and install it. Now open a terminal so we can extract the images from the payload.bin.
Navigate to the location of payload_dumper and your payload.bin file. In my case my commands are:
cd Desktop <-- switches to the Desktop folder
cd payload_dumper <-- switches to the payload_dumper folder on the Desktop
python3 payload_dumper.py payload.bin <-- runs the payload_dumper "program" and extract the images from the payload.bin
Now would be a good time to back everything up. The phone will get wiped. Extract the fastboot images to a folder that is easy to find. I would recommend the Desktop.
Now it's time to flash all those images we just extracted using payload dumper. Place the phone in fastboot mode. You can do this using the advanced reboot menu, ADB, or the key combinations (all key combos listed below for reference):
Volume Up + Power while turning on will boot to fastboot.
Volume Down + Power while turn on will boot to recovery.
Holding Volume Up + Power should force the phone to turn off.
Volume Up + Volume Down should put your phone in Download mode for the MSM Tool.
You can flash the images one by one or use a script. My script is available here. Flashing the fastboot ROM should look something like this:

Then just choose start form Fastboot (If you were previously on a custom ROM go straight to recovery and wipe everything). Not booting and getting dumped off at the OnePlus recovery screen is nothing to worry about. Choose your language of choice, Wipe data and cache, Erase everything (Music, pics, etc), This can not be undone, continue. After that the phone will boot. Once booted enable developer options, advanced reboot, and reboot to fastboot.
2. Installing TWRP.
First step is to boot the correct TWRP image. Grab the current TWRP from the official site. You need both files, the img file, and the installer. Once again from the terminal:

Once in TWRP the phone should show up as a media device so you can copy files to it. Copy the TWRP installer over to it. Choose Install from the TWRP menu and navigate to where you placed the TWRP installer. Press on it, and swipe to confirm flash. When it is done hit the back button until you are back out to the main menu.
From the main menu choose reboot, and choose Recovery:
The first time you try and reboot the official version of TWRP it will ask you if you want to install the TWRP app. Do NOT install the app. In the settings you can disable this prompt. Your other option is just uncheck both boxes at the screen you see below when you get to it, and then click the button that says do not install. Do use the slider. At that point the phone will reboot as to recovery as you selected.
Now that you are back in TWRP that is now installed, time to wipe the phone. From the main menu choose Wipe. Swipe the factory reset slider at the bottom. Then hit back. Next hit Format Data. Type Yes to Continue. Hit back to continue. Keep hitting back till you get to the main menu.
Do NOT wipe cache, do not Wipe system, do NOT Wipe Dalvik / ART, do not add anything else, Just Factory Reset and Format Data. After doing those two Reboot to Recovery one more time. So go back into the reboot menu, choose reboot to recovery again (swipe to allow modifications if it asks). You must do this after formatting data.
3. Install Lineage

The phone should still be in TWRP at this point. You now need to copy Lineage to the phone. From TWRP's main menu choose install. Then navigate to your ROM .zip location and click on it. Then swipe to confirm flash.
Lineage will replace TWRP, so you need to reflash TWRP as well. Run the TWRP installer again. If it's not on the phone, just copy it over again real quick. On A/B devices ROMs get flashed to the opposite slot. Things like Gapps, Magisk, etc get flashed to the current slot. We need Lineage on both slots, so it must be flash again. Flashing it twice only needs to be done the first time as we need to get rid of OOS. For updates it just gets flashed once. After the TWRP installer has run, back out to the main menu, and choose reboot, then recovery:
Once back in TWRP flash Lineage again. From TWRP's main menu choose install. Then navigate to your ROM .zip location and click on it. Then swipe to confirm flash.
Now run the TWRP installer again. Back out to the main menu, and reboot to recovery.
4.Optional, Gapps

NikGapps <-- For Lineage 18.1 (Use the R Folders for Android 11. I recommend the "Core" version. I also tested Basic though if you want that level of Gapps. I strongly recommend you grab setup wizard out of the R Addons Folder, I used the regular setup wizard, not the pixel one.)
MindTheGapps <-- It's worth mentioning here Lineage recommends MindTheGapps for 18.1. Take your pick. I personally use NikGapps as I can use a "leaner" Gapps package.
Now that your phone is back in TWRP for the last time before booting up Lineage, it's time to install Gapps if you want them. This step is optional. Same as the other steps here, go to install, choose your OpenGapps package, Then navigate to your .zip location and click on it. Then swipe to confirm flash.
5. Very Optional, Magisk
These steps are very optional. However this is how I, root, pass safety net, and get a various apps to appear in the Play store.
Flash Magisk in TWRP. For Magisk 23, you now have to rename the Magisk.apk to Magisk.zip. Then flash it in TWRP. If you wanted to uninstall it, you rename it to uninstall.zip. If you already had an older version of Magisk installed, make sure you do not have it hidden / nenamed when installing Magisk 23 for the first time. Restore the original package before installing 23.
Magisk <-- Flash this right after Gapps.
These items are add-ons are flashed in Magisk after the first boot (Don't flash these in TWRP anymore):

To flash modules in Magisk press the puzzle piece icon. Then choose install from storage. Now just choose your addons. After flashing the icons it will have a reboot icon at the bottom. You can reboot or you can press back and flash another. After you are done reboot.
You will also need a Terminal Emulator. I personally use:

Once all these are installed the first step is setup Magisk. Under Magisk go to settings:
In version 20.4+ Magisk Hide is no longer on by default. So make sure the Magisk Hide, Hide Magisk from various forms of detection switch is flipped. Then press Hide Magisk Manager. This will bring up a box for you to choose a random name for the Magisk Manager, type whatever you want here. You can leave it Manager if you wish, but I typically change this.
Now open Magisk again. It will ask you to download it again, click ok, then manually open the app again as it says. Now we need to open Magisk hide. This is now under the shield icon, then click the arrow at the top:
These are the apps you don't want to know that you have root. Less is better. You can cause instability problems by just choosing everything. My general rule of thumb is, Google, steaming video, music, and payment apps get selected. In my experience if I come across an app that needs it and I didn't select it, I just clear cache and/or data and re-open the app and it works. There are some big multiplayer apps that ban hardware / people, so do your research (don't ask me, I don't play those games).
Next time to change the device fingerprint using MagiskHide Props Config Module. We do this using the terminal emulator. In the terminal emulator, type "su" to gain root privileges. Then type props to run the module:
Now it's just following the menus. Choose option 1 - Edit device finger print. (type 1, hit enter)
After this you will see a menu of devices. It doesn't matter what device you pick really. If you want apps / Google to think you have a OPPO or Samsung pick one of those Fingerprints. However there's a bit more to passing Safety-net than that. Since Google has changed how things work not all those fingerprints that used to work will work now. Also now you may get an error when you turn on the phone because of the security dates. The OP6T Android 10 fingerprint has no issues at this point, so use that if you want:
After choosing the fingerprint you want, it will ask you if you want to reboot. Choose yes. After rebooting, you may need to clear the cache from the play store for some apps to appear in it. You should now pass safety net. Check this in Magisk:
6. Very Optional, Ad Blocking with a Host File.
You can block many things with a hosts file, most popular would be ads. I've been use StevenBlack's host file which is a compilation of several hosts files. This is located on Github:

Direct link to the hosts file I use. This will block Adware / Malware.
Unfortunately for quite some time now on this device you can no longer just use a root browser to swap the hosts file. The easiest way is to use TWRP.
First we have to make the hosts file. The hosts file must use unix / linux line endings. If you are using linux, don't worry about this, just create the file. If you are using Windows, the easiest thing to do is use Notepad++ (Free).

Next one other caveat. The hosts file is quite large. I've never had much luck copy and pasting it from any other browser than Firefox (Windows or Linux), but however you get it into Notepad++ is not a big deal.
Once in you have the hosts file into Notepad++ go to Edit, EOL Conversion, and Choose Unix (LF).
Now save the file as "hosts" no ending. This does mean under file type you will need to change it to All File types *.*. Move this hosts file to your phone. Then reboot to recovery. From the main TWRP menu, choose mount. Then mount system:
Hit the back button and go to the advanced menu. Choose File Manager:
You will find your hosts file under /sdcard, wherever you placed it. In my case I placed it in a folder called ROMs. Once you locate it, press and hold it for a moment, and relase. Then choose copy file:
At this point you need to tell TWRP where you want to paste the hosts file. It belongs in the /etc folder. The only hic-cup here is depending on what you were doing in TWRP this could be (on this device) /system/etc or /system/system/etc (you will see similar folders to the image below if you are in the right place). Once you are there, press "paste?" button in the lower right corner:
After this just swipe to confirm:
You can now reboot the device, and your hosts file should now be in place. Your ad block should now be active for all apps as it's global for all connections.
7. Reboot to system.
Updating Lineage
1. Flash Lineage.
Reboot to recovery. You can use the advanced reboot menu, or Volume Down + Power while turning the phone on. Don't wipe anything. From TWRP's main menu choose install. Then navigate to your ROM .zip location and click on it. Then swipe to confirm flash.

Please note I'm testing with a 6T, TMobile 6Ts are different. You can generally assume previous versions of LOS and OOS were also tested, but if you are unsure feel free to ask in this thread.

OOS 10.3.7 and LOS 17.1 12-31 with TWRP 3.4.0-2
OOS 10.3.11 and LOS 18.1 05-27 with TWRP 3.5.2_9-0
This method has also been tested with:
OOS 10.3.3 and Omnirom 5-24 MicroG and Omnirom 5-24.
Cliff Notes
*TWRP 3.5.0_9-0+ Must be used with LOS 18 / 18.1
- Backup everything to the PC, so you will need to copy all your data over.
- Sync all your accounts, etc.
- In TWRP format data. Reboot recovery (This step wipes the device, make sure you backed everything up!)
- Factory Reset. (This is the slider at the bottom, do not Wipe system, do NOT Wipe Dalvik / ART, do not add anything else)
- Flash Lineage
- Flash TWRP Installer
- Reboot to Recovery
- Flash Lineage (This is only the first time, to get the AOSP rom on both slots, only do this for the first install)
- Flash TWRP Installer (This is only the first time, to get the AOSP rom on both slots, only do this for the first install)
- Reboot to Recovery (This is only the first time, to get the AOSP rom on both slots, only do this for the first install)
- Flash Gapps (Optional)

After this you should be able to update Lineage as normal.

- Flash Gapps. (Optional, but if you flashed them once you have to keep flashing them.)
- Flash Magisk. (Optional)
- Reboot to system.
- No loss of data, or anything.

Back up your data, use Step 1 of these instructions. That will put OOS back on your phone.
MSM Tool, always my least favorite option, but always an option.

- at first, I tried upgrading from LOS 16.0 to LOS 17.1. I followed the instructions on the wiki, but it landed me in the qualcomm crashdump mode.
- after that I ran into your instructions, and tried to follow your update guide, but it didn't help (not very surprising I guess, but I haven't had much to lose at this point ).
- after that, I just followed your fresh install guide (i.e. flashing the fastboot room and starting from scratch), followed every step and it worked!
I wonder if it's worth updating lineage OS wiki and pointing to your instructions? There is bunch of people in this thread, who also bricked the phone into crashdump, so perhaps it could help to prevent it for someone else.

Initially I had problems with updating LOS, so I returned to Stock. As more people attempted to install LOS, and this fine Original Poster "Ohio" offered such excellent, and detailed instructions, I have been running LOS 16 since February.
However, I have not updated it, since I have had Zero Issues.
But to clarify, you used this method to update to LOS 17.1 ?
- coming from LOS 16 - without first returning to a fast-boot ROM ?
Did you up-date GApps accordingly during this Flash ?

Hi, I updated my previous reply to make it a bit more clear!
Yep, I was on LOS 16. Haven't had any issues, but figured why not update if I'll have to do it eventually
So I downloaded 17.1 and used the wiki instructions, which messed the phone up
Ended up flashing fastboot rom and starting from scratch, flashed gapps and magisk according to OhioYJ's instruction and it worked.

I was using carbon ROM previously, had to move to OOS latest for flashing the lineage 17.1, believe it needs to be done if you are coming from pie, people know better correct me if I am wrong here.
As Karlicoss mentioned, it's better to follow the method posted by Ohio.

Usually this means you didnt format data, or you are using an old version of TWRP. Did you do a clean install?
I just tried it on my phone, was running 4-12 build, using 3.3.1-32 TWRP, updated to the 4-14 build, using 4-14 Gapps (nano), everything went smoothly here.

I followed exactly as it was written. Same issues arose for me. After the phone is off then turned on no LTE. It makes phone calls and also text stuff. HOWEVER when you take out and reinsert sim LTE is enable. What is the problom?????????

Just cycling airplane mode doesnt work? This isn't a TMobile 6T is it? You are in Sim slot 1? You maybe better asking in the LOS thread, and provide log it not working and then it working when you reinsert it. Im not quite sure whats going on there.

yes it is a tmobile but it was flashed to global. TWRP is the version you are using. downloaded the lastest ROM. Weird it finds LTE at first then like I said when then phone shuts off LTE doesnt work til I take sim out.

No that would be ridiculous. Not necessary at all. You have something else going on, but I dont know what. My update procedure is exactly as listed on the OP, on two 6Ts, two different carriers.

A TMobile "converted" to global does not equal a global 6T. Logs posted in the LOS thread, may help out other TMobile users? The TMobile 6Ts introduce all sorts of quirks, and Im afraid I dont have any experience with them, so hopefully another TMobile user will be able to help.

I use a dual boot from Orangefox
The actual firmware came from Oneplus.com
I also used Smurf kernel and xXx NoLimits ☆ for OnePlus
Installation is easy
1. Boot into a twrp
2. Flash Orangefox dual boot (partition I used is a-96gb b-96gb with a C-of 32gb.
3. Flash the .img files to the correct Partitions.
4. Flash orangefox twrp agian updating the filesystem to how you programmed it
5. Enjoy I also recommend updating magisk.
I'll be posting more quick image files of precompiled OSs soon. Mainly off original Oxygen 10.3.7.
Let know if theirs anything to fix or build. This is a quick way to not have to switch slots and get an OS on your phone.

Sorry I the project was not what I expected. Mainly going to make a fastboot installer pakackage for 10.3.7 and another flasher package for if I scew up and get stuck on my bootloader, with the files. I am not able to setup a PC for long right now so it would be wise. The smali thing turned out not working. The twrp can install into The New beta 11 that people are trying to root with boot.img's on another post

Almost done, but I can't find any custom rom available for download. Can someone help? Since wwith twrp I cannot install a stock rom. Thanks in advance.
I managed to flash a so called Ari's rom, but I think the phone is now bricked. It is on bootloop on the first screen of Samsung (with phone name and so on) and with SET WARRANTY BIT : KERNEL at top left. I think it is time to trash it or does someone have any hint? Thanks

I proposed three different options: custom rom, GSI (generic system image) or conversion stock firmware to flashable form. If there's no good custom rom for A6+, then don't worry - you can still try another options. Try playing with Generic System Images:
1. Flash your current stock firmware as usual in Odin.
2. Unlock bootloader and flash TWRP.
3. Go to TWRP.
4. Wipe partitions cache, dalvik, data, system (don't wipe vendor partition - it's needed).
5. Flash GSI image (recommended will be at first phhusson's AOSP (Android 9 or 10)) as "system image". You always need to choose and download "arm32_binder64" variant of img file.
6. Reboot to your new system.
Second option is to convert stock Android 9 firmware into flashable form.
1. Download ClassyKitchen tool.
2. Import downloaded Android 9 stock firmware (for your phone) into it and save it as flashable zip.
3. Go to TWRP.
4. Wipe cache, dalvik, data, system and vendor.
5. Flash your previously done zip with Android 9 as any other flashable zip in TWRP.
6. Flash Magisk or RMM-state-bypass-v3 in TWRP to prevent your bootloader from getting locked again.
7. Reboot.
I went for the second option, in Classykitchen I loaded the stock android 9 rom and selected
BUILD ZIP ROM (for recovery).
Then installed with TWRP following your wipe indications.
Success.
But when I went to install RMM-state-bypass-v3 I got the error impossile to mount /system.
So I rebooted twrp and before anything I manually mounted SYSTEM in twrp in the dedicated MOUNT menu, and I did everything again from wipe to install.
Is this procedure correct?

I rebooted but I'm again stuck in the same loop described in my previous reply.
When I selecr REBOOT in twrp, do I have to flag anything? For example System?

Yes, it's correct. If RMM bypass or Magisk.zip was flashed without any errors in TWRP then everything is okay. Just reboot to system in TWRP after that - there is option to reboot directly to system. First boot always can take a bit longer than next boots.

You always need to get any "arm32_binder64" (always AB) image. Gapps or vanilla is just your choice. Just get Android 9 or 10 image and flash it as "system image" (but wipe at first partitions specified in my previous post - don't wipe only Vendor partition, because it contains important things). Android 12 GSI still aren't stable. Android 11 - maybe will work properly. Android 9 and 10 should work fine. But something weird happens: I install the ROM with success. If then I try to install Magisk (or Rmm) it fails with error 7.
And twrp says No Os installed if I reboot.
But if I try to install Magisk after rebooting into twrp after installing the ROM it goes without errors.
But anyway I have the issues of No Os installed.

You need to reboot to recovery after flashing new system, because just after flashing TWRP doesn't recognize it - that is why you see that "no OS installed". Just reboot your phone to recovery again (you have such option in TWRP). In case of GSI (except maybe CAOS, LineageOS Q/R mod) Magisk or RMM bypass is not needed.
Btw, in case of any problems with hardware support on GSI flash also that patch in TWRP (it may be needed to mount "Vendor" partition in TWRP before flashing that fixes):

I already rebooted to recovery and twrp keeps saying NO OS.
I'm using twrp 3.5.2_10-0.
I'm starting to suspect that this behaviour is due to the fact that this version of twrp could be too much new and unstable for my phone.
So I'd like to install an older version of twrp with Odin, as explained here:

But I cannot manage to go into download mode again, even from REBOOT menu of twrp it doesn't work, I keep staying in the loop explained before.
Moreover your first option of GSI need me to go into download mode to install the latest stock ROM with Odin.
I just manage to get into the attached screen.

I tried to follow your first option since the second one was not successful.
Installed latest stock and then twrp 3.5.0-1.

The flash is very fast, but no errors, is it normal?
After that I reboot to recovery in order to flash

it goes but just at the end it gives the error
failed to mount /odm no such file or directory.
And if I reboot to system the phone loops as always.
I'm losing all hope...

It's okay, but it's possible that you'll always need "vndklite" images for working camera.

If you flashed it as "System Image" and it was successful then yes - should be fine. DM-Verity isn't needed for GSI - only RMM bypass v3 is sometimes needed (on CAOS, Lineage Q/R mod and maybe in case of some other images). On usual A600FN RMM bypass is not needed on phhusson AOSP. Just format "Data" partition (format, not only wipe) - it will remove encryption for you.
Procedure of flashing should be like that:
1. Wipe: cache, dalvik, data, system ("Vendor" partition leave untouched, because it's important for GSI - that is why you needed to flash stock firmware at first, because it adds vendor files for your phone, but it's needed only once, just don't wipe "Vendor").
2. Flash your GSI as "System Image".
3. Reboot phone (to recovery again).
4. Mount your "data", "vendor" and "system" partition.
5. Flash your zips: RMM bypass v3 (optionally Magisk).
5. Reboot to your new system now.
In case of any hardware support problems, reboot to TWRP again, mount "Vendor" partition and flash that fixes:

Try to boot Android 10 or Android 9 images. If it will succeed, then you can try flashing Android 11 images and check what works, and what not. According to that article

I don't know what are those images. Can you explain better?
When I proceed with RMM bypass V3 I see the errors in the attached image. It seems like there is a problem in writing to /system.
Can this be related to the hardware support problems you mentioned?
I tried with different versions of Twrp already and with Havoc Os too.
Should I try with flashing a different ROM ?

Just look at filename of system images. But as I see, it's apparently important on Android 11 and newer. For now, try to boot Android 10 or 9. Let's try with that image:

Yes, because you need to mount that partitions in TWRP:
Mount -> tick "system", "vendor" and "data" - and now flash whatever you want.
The only "receipt" which isn't giving installation errors is following your last instructions but avoiding to reboot to recovery after ROM flash (used Vanilla), and using Magisk v22 with unticked the line called "skip digest check" . See attached images.
Anyway, still no success to get into android.
Also tried fixes.zip.
Maybe I have to try with sideload ?

On the top you can see SET WARRANTY BIT: KERNEL, it should be normal right?

I've never had such problem, but according to that thread it seems that it's a fault of modified kernel (so don't flash Magisk with GSI, because it patches kernel).
Try to flash stock firmware, unlock bootloader, flash TWRP, format "data" partition, wipe partitions (cache, dalvik, system, data) and flash GSI image as "system image". And reboot to system.
Don't flash RMM and Magisk for now - and check if system will run properly.
