Cannot boot into recovery - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

I'm currently on EvoX rom (20190807 build). Whenever I try to boot into recovery it boots into fastboot mode. Even when I turn off the phone and try to boot into recovery using volume up and power key it boots into fastboot mode.
So do I have to flash the recovery once again using my computer? Or do I have to do something else? The recovery I had installed was OrangeFox.
Another question I have is before installing the EvoX rom I installed chinese MIUI rom v10.3.16. What steps do I need to follow to change between the Chinese and Indian MIUI rom? Any thing to keep in mind?

If you want to change to Indian MIUI, it's best to flash the Indian fastboot ROM using the Mi Flash Tool. In which case any custom recovery would be lost anyway. Just remember to choose 'clean all' when flashing. The default option is 'Clean all and lock' which will lock the bootloader, so definitely remember to change it.
It sounds like you've somehow wiped/corrupted recovery, so if you wanted to stick with EvoX for a while first, then you'll need to flash a recovery again using the PC.

How to disable stock recovery

Hey guys,
I`m using x526. The other day I rooted the device with TWRP and flashed AOSP extended. But now I can`t seem to enter into TWRP. When I try to enter the recovery mode using the hard keys, it loads into the stock recovery. Even when using the option to boot into recovery in the AOSP extended restart option, it still boots into the stock recovery. So is there any way to remove/disable the stock recovery.Or even any other methods to enter TWRP?. I flashed the latest twrp (3.1.1) from the official site via ADB. Also AEX was pre-rooted with magisk

Twrp is already there, I can't just access it due to stock recovery. I flashed twrp twice and can enter the twrp just after flashing. If I exit twrp I can't access it again unless I reflash it

When you flash a new recovery the old one will be replaced. If you used the code fastboot boot recovery recovery.img the phone just boots to the recovery and not flash it. So please use the code fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.

recoveries + flash problems

Hello, i have a Mi8 global version, unlocked and actually i'm on latest xiaomi.eu dev (9.1.24), but i have some problems with twrp and custom kernels.
I don't know why, but almost every recovery won't boot.
Actually i'm on TWRP 3.2.2-0711 (the only one that works) and managed to flash xiaomi.eu rom as written before.
But every other recovery on the forum won't boot, tried to flash and boot from cmd, only boot from cmd, flash with some tools, flash and with apps from playstore, restart from cmd with vol up, disconnect phone and use keys combination, but same result: only 3.2.2 works.
Every other recovery i try to flash does nothing, it just reboots normally without enter in twrp.
I have similar problem with custom kernel: only francoKernel_r4 boots fine. With every other miui compatible kernel i have bootloop.
I've tried to reflash fastboot rom with XiaomiFlash but still have same results.
Can anyone help me please? I have no more ideas what to do

No i did know. Just tried but both twrp don't work.
Btw i'll try to write in that thread too.
Thank you
Fastboot flash the recovery img, then fastboot boot the recovery img.
Then reflash recovery zip file from within twrp you just fastboot booted
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78693530&postcount=71
Use TWRP 3.2.3-1208 version from OP in this link

As written on eu forum, the only recovery working is the 3.2.2.
Every other recovery, 1208 too give me:
Mi logo (unlocked) - black screen - Mi logo (unlocked) - system. But no recovery.
Tried to flash a custom rom different to xiaomi.eu but got bootloop, same with kernel flashable zips on xda. Only bootlooo...
I really don't know what to do anymore...
Yeah weird, I've literally guided a friend through the process just yesterday with that method.

Hi friend, mainly thanks for helping.
I tried your suggestion, but it doesn't work.
I restored with Mi Flash Tolls, the only alternative. Now it works well.
You will now try the Flash I Rom and waiting for new updates and then flash any custom rom.
After I want share stuff tools and congratulations.
Have nice guys!
I have the same stuck in fastboot No recovery img, no rom loaded so cant use XiaoMiTool

Yes, that's what happened to me.
The only solution I found was to install the new rom via fastboot.
For this you will need to perform the following steps:
1 - Install Mi Flash + drivers (this is boring, if you have Windows 7, it will be easier). In this link you will find some downloads and more details.
2 - Download the Sotck Rom (for fastboot important) from your device, in my case it was PFKMIXM 10.3.1 for Mi9T Pro. You need to extract zip then before.
3 - Flash the new rom via fastboot (approximately 10 minutes).
After that, your device will start with the new rom, then you can flash TWRP again and everything will work. The Magisk installation may cause error 1, but only flash boot.img through TWRP.
Be quick, because if the battery drain, you won't be able to start it in fastboot again.
If you need any links, ask me. I didn't have time to share everything.
Have a nice and good luck!!

To boot to recovery After fastboot flash recovery , you will need also a system...
As you wiped all, you dont have anymore. I made the same mistake when decrypting After unlocking.
Extract system.img from stock fastboot rom and fastboot flash system system.img.
Then again (why not lol) fastboot flash again reco and reboot to recovery with buttons.
If it dont work , miflashtool will recover it ( DONT SELECT CLEAN_LOCK)

Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Too bad you couldn't recover. I hope you can do it again.
Today I had to flash twice, once because I flashed Kernel Quax and couldn't rollback and once for trying Rom Syberian. I hope that in the future we will have a firmware balanced with the customs kernel and roms.
Good luck.
Thanks I dont think it will work
i bought a Deep flash cable to see if i can get it into EDL mode without opening.

Mi 9 stuck in Fastboot after TWRP Backup Restore.

Hello,
I tried the latest V11.0.6.0.QFAEUXM ROM but I didn't like it and so I booted into my TWRP recovery and restored the latest fullbackup I made from 2 days ago, then rebooted.
Now I'm stuck in Fastboot loop.
$ fastboot reboot
and
$ fastboot reboot recovery
... have literally no effect, still the phone is stuck in fastboot mode uppon restart.
I read in another thread "just use MiFlash tool and revert to stock rom, do everything all over to rescue your phone".
OK, fine. I start MiFlash, it asks me to unlock my phone... I click unlock. Nothing happens, I click again "try unlock again", then "no need to repeat unlock" appears, nothing happens, the usual menu with the options to flash or install TWRP are missing.
:good: really good! Just as expected. Very user friendly.
Now what?
I had twrp-3.3.1-37-cepheus-mauronofrio.img (SHA-1: A3230E7918A9E3D3D939AA8619B40E47A54F645D) as recovery and my ROM was xiaomi.eu_multi_MI9_V11.0.4.0.QFACNXM_5e64190eb9_v11-10.zip (SHA-1: 714BD02A5D52720C2733E2FDA9730EECE441AE09) before I tried to flash miui_CEPHEUSEEAGlobal_V11.0.6.0.QFAEUXM_1647340073_10.0.zip (SHA-1: BAC6307DA99F766E35A6EDBB0B74D02F73AD2782) and everything went downhill from there.
MiFlash version: miflash_unlock-en-3.5.719.27.zip
Is there more info I can provide?
EDIT / UPDATE:
I've been following the instructions from a Youtube video (links below) by the letter and now at least I'm back in a sane / stock ROM state where I can (have to) redo everything fromm the beginning.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuAHNFjK--o
Instructions:
https://highonandroid.com/android-s...rick-unroot-xiaomi-android-stuck-on-fastboot/
Download site:

(I downloaded & used "cepheus_eea_global_images_V10.2.17.0.PFAEUXM_20190327.0000.00_9.0_eea_b2470d1b08.tgz")
I chose "clean all" as flash method in that XiaomiMiFlash Tool.
It will reboot into Stock ROM, in my case I chose the EU version.
From there you can activate Developer Options & USB-Debugging again and you're set to go customizing again.
Ohhh looks not amazing
Did you've tried to flash recovery via adb?

I tried:
$ fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.1-37-cepheus-mauronofrio.img
$ fastboot reboot recovery
It boots straight into Fastboot again.
I don't even know what to say at this point. I literally only wanted to restore a fullbackup. How can this possibly happen in the first place?
I'm really close to smashing this phone in 1000 pieces...

What I suggest you to do is flash the latest TWRP from Mauronofrio which is 3.3.1-52.
After successfully flashing the recovery, immediately press vol up + power button until it reboots.
Do not reboot using the command line or turn off your phone.
In TWRP, flash the xiaomi.eu ROM version that your backup is based on.
Then perform a restore from the backup that you had made.
Sent from my MI 9 (Cepheus) using Tapatalk
Thanks, but I fixed it already.
As I described / updated in the OP there is a tool with which you can use some firmware roms in tgz format to flash over the fastboot state to get a "stock rom-ish" state back.
Once in the stock rom you have to go through the basic setup routine and then activate USB Debugging, then you can install TWRP, other Roms as per usual.

Touch input not detected in recovery

I was running Indian global stable 11.0.6.0 and unlocked the bootloader to flash a custom ROM (Evolution X latest)
Something went wrong and I ended up with a phone with no OS installed.
I have files that I need to flash in the recovery but the touch screen won't work anymore and I don't think I can copy files to recovery either.
Running latest Orangefox recovery. I am able to boot into fastboot as well. Phone is still unlocked.
Is there anything I can do to fix the touch? If I can access the recovery maybe I can flash an OS.
Thank you

In recovery, turn off the screen, then turn it back on again. Then see if the touch screen is working.
Not sure about OF, as I'm using TWRP. But this is a known issue in TWRP. Occasionally need to turn off screen then on again, in order to get touch screen working.
