Is there any kernel or ROM that support camera2 api which support RAW photography
if this is a repost,i am extremely sorry
So all you need from camera api 2 is just the capability to take photos in raw format? If so, you can use an app called 'Mi2raw Cam' without having camera api 2.

yes,but camera2 api function is implemented in camera fv-5 which has a lot more functionality than mi2raw
Working HDR would be great
I totally agree we need this. We have tons of Rom options for Mi3/MI4 but none of developers are putting effort in making camera great, half the roms even breaks the camera. I'm not saying the developers are lazy and sh-it, just that camera is not a priority I guess, which is a shame - as the sensor is capable of great things, but only on original MIUI rom...
I would gladly donate a nice money for a great camera app comparable to Miui camera on Aosp rom.

Can anyone confirm Whether Camera2API enabled or not by default?
I think my Mi A2 will arrive in nex 6/8 days, when i'll got it i'll can confirm or not the compatibility with camera 2 api, i will use this application to test compatibility https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.airbeat.device.inspector and report the check
I have the same question.
While I am getting more and more frustrated with my A1, the A2 still looks to be a nice phone for the money, and with Treble support maybe less problems than the A1? I am not at all sure that I will consider another Xiaomi phone after the frustrations with the A1, but never say never. With Honor and Huawei not allowing bootloader unlocking, they are off the table immediately. With Moto being a dog anymore in this space, they are off the table. That leaves limited choices for less than flagship prices.
If any of you Android gurus have suggestions on good phones in the mid-range segment, say less than $350 or so, please enlighten me.

Asus phones? They seem pretty good nowadays since they have stockish roms and easily unlocked bootloaders

Hmm Go for Asus Zenfone Max M1 Pro it's great phone under your budget
Btw, as i have never used any xiaomi phone so maybe I'm gonna start with this A2 (still not sure confused between Note 5 Pro, Mi8 SE) my main motive is like you buy phone and unlock BL right away tho not in case of xiaomi unless it's A1 and A2.
Have a nice day,
Best Regards.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I typically never look at ASUS due to their ZenUI (and my rather BAD experiences with 2 of their computers), but it appears from reading about the Asus Zenfone Max M1 Pro that they have cleaned this up considerably. I like the large battery and QC 836 SOC, and running 8.1 means it should be fairly quick to update. The only downside I see with that phone is the camera. It seems to be pretty weak, even compared to the A1.
Like you @UnknownAly027 I am waiting to see if the 8 SE is released where I live. It might be a worthwhile phone, even though not Android One.

Sorry for the noob question, what does the result of API-Probe mean? "Legacy" isn't the result that we hoped for, ist it? What would be the best result, "Level 3"?
Is API2 supported or not? Is GCAM working with HDR+ an portrait-mode?
Edit: It seems to be not supported. Here is an article about "Camera2 API probe"
The information below will give you the easiest explanation of what each term means.
Level-3 – The OEM of the device has added some additional features to the camera hardware.
Full – The smartphone fully supports Camera2 API.
Limited – The phone supports only some of the features of Camera2 API.
Legacy – Your Android smartphone only supports the Camera1 API features. So, no support for Camera2 API.

But for now it's not sure if we can enable it, right? Can you enable it on your Mi A2 lite with full support?
For me it's very important if we can get Camera2API without permanent root because I wan't to use Gcam and also banking apps on my daily driver phone. Banking apps often don't work when root is activated.

i have tried to enable it using the same step / tools for Mi A1. but that wont work as currently we didnt have TWRP specifically for Mi A2 & Mi A2 lite
Here is said, that the Mi A2 Camera App is ported to Redmi Note 5:
https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-a2-camera-ported-xiaomi-redmi-note-5-pro/
And also it is said, that therefore Camera2API must be enabled on Redmi Note 5. Does that mean, that Camera2API is enabled on the Mi A2 because without it the camera app seems to be not working?

Damned, just ordered the device... But otherwise... I#m hoping the devs will do a good job, as everytime... The camera app is ported to the redmi note 5, maybe quality is very good without camera api 2?

i think same scenario for A1. We have to root the device and unable camera API2 manually

Same here, maybe someone can find a way to boot into recovery without unlock bootloader and then flash a zip to edit build prop and enable camera 2 API, or maybe we can just unlock bootloader, boot into recovery , flash zip and relock bootloader ( relocking bootloader as far as i know only erase data partition so build.prop file keep untached and modified) but we have to do this procedure ad every update if build.prop change at every update... I think another way can be ask to xiaomi to enable API 2 by default with next update since android one can be edited by tehm... anyway, i hope for a not invasive solution

Yes if you want a device with moderate/light development cause mi8 se is launching only on 8 countries world wide while a2 is in 40 countries world wide so development may not be that extreme
Hi!
Anyone is using any of this mods? (all work without Root)
ASUS PixelMaster Camera From Asus ROG
https://www.xda-developers.com/asus-pixelmaster-camera-port-asus-rog-phone/
and
Nokia Camera Port
https://www.xda-developers.com/nokia-camera-port-3d-personas-animojis/
Or even this mod - Xperia Z1 MotionShot
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2573312
If so, what are the best settings?
I tried Nokia and Asus cam apps today, they don't have any special settings, just check everything to most high option that you can select in menu and that is it.
Nokia makes decent pictures for the picture size, and Asus makes also good pictures but a little darker.
They are both better then stock cam app :good:
I'm not certain of this, but the Asus cam might take good low light pics. Not in a position to test this but pure speculating.
tried the asus one in non rooted but the highest MP setting is 3MP. is it normal? Thanks

Hi guys, anyone can mod this gcam 7.1 to properly work with all modes?
It is compatible on Android 10 devices and partially compatible with my P30 pro with EMUI 10
Working features are video (front and back), panorama, photosphere and google lens.
Photo, portrait and night sight are not working though
Hey, it would be good if gvam will work on p30 pro ?
You want to get hdr+ and that's not working on this hardware
Sent from a mobile gadget
I have the p30 pro as well and it sure seems like some of these genious xda guys could make it work. I'm sure we'd all be willing to give $$ to support it! I saw the camerakit on Huawei's development site, so it seems like it's possible?
It's there a version that will start on the p30 Pro that will load XML settings or give access to developer options?

Astrophotography isn't that easy to port. A major reason why even Pixel 2 and OG Pixel will not receive this feature is because of hardware limitations. Even if the developers manage to port the feature somehow, it won't give you optimal results. Although the image processing highly depends on the software, but the hardware capability plays a very crucial role as well. For now, I would say, have patience and see how the porting scene rolls out.
I have a Pixel 3 XL (Which is supposed to get the feature) too with the latest official Google Camera 7.2 installed, still no sign of Astrophotography on my end. I am not a developer but have read enough on the topic because I can't purchase the Pixel 4 here in India, so looking out for as many P4 camera features to be available for my Pixel 3. Sadly, Live HDR+ and Dual Exposure controls won't be available for my device too.
Update: cstark27 has released a port of GCam version 7.2 and has managed to enable Astrophotography on the Pixel 2 (of course, the port is universal like always), along with several other changes. It's worth trying the port on the Mi A3 too. Here's the link to the release notes.

When it comes to Google, everything is done by Software. Astrophotography ports are already available for Poco F1, i hope somebody works on them to support A3 too.

Yes, but what I meant was that the results would not be as good as seen on the Pixel 4/Pixel 3/3a due to hardware. And yes, it works. You can even force-enable the Astrophotography feature in GCam.
Which mod has Focus at infinity option?
