I have the tencent version, 128GB.
Somehow when the photos are fully loaded on google photos, it will look very washed out, with loss in contrast.
But when you are swiping the next photo or editing it, it will look as it should.
Anyone has any idea? I am guessing the icc profile is not loading properly :crying:

I'm having the same issue, only happening with Google Photos, once loaded.
Couldn't find any related settings to remedy it.
Anyone else facing this?
Me too
I dont know the reson
Maybe an update will fix this
This happens on my razer phone 2 as well. Hopefully googs fixes it.
tried to use older version of Photos and this did not happen. Must be a problem with compability between the phone and the app.
Zenfone 6 have same issue. Back to previous version of Google Photos fix the problem.

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, but I've searched and can't seem to find this issue anywhere so am in need of help.
Issue:
Open camera (stock) on the P9 and take photo, shows up in the gallery box in corner, if I exit camera photo is fine. The problem arises if I then try to take another photo straight after the first i.e. person didn't smile the camera won't take a photo and when I exit and re-enter camera (or gallery) the photo is just green lines.
I've played around with settings and changed memory card but am still getting the same issue, is there something I'm not doing setting wise or is it a fault with the camera?
Thanks in advance.
You mean like the one below? I've had it happen to me a few times - primarily during low light shots. If I exit the camera app and come back, the next set of photos then seem to be fine.
I think it's a software problem - I recollect seeing a change log for build 136 which indicated there was a fix for it. I'll try to find the log and post the relevant details.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes exactly like that one, however it's during any kind of shot not just low light ones. I have had the problem since I had the phone and initially the problem did go away if I exited the app and came back but now it's every time, the only way to not have that happen to the photos is if I exit and renter after every photo - which kind of spoils the spontaneity.
Thanks I'd appreciate that.

Here's an image showing the relevant content for the B136 update.
Thanks for that, I've tried downloading the B136 about 5 times now, from different locations and following different instructions, unfortunately it either fails or once downloaded the extraction fails or the software install fails.
Just to say thanks again, I downloaded it to PC and copied it across instead and it's updated and solved the issue.

Glad to hear that 136 fixed your issue. What version of the P9 do you have? And what build have you downloaded?
I'm on the 134 build for my P9 L-09 - still waiting for the update for my geo (C636).
Preordered my p20 pro and was very excited. It's been an amazing phone. However, my default photo gallery has always been google photos, I have so many photos stored in the cloud through Google Photos. But the app on my p20 pro seems to not work, it constantly crashes. I've tried everything to fix it to my knowledge but nothing is working. After about 10 seconds it just crashes. I thought it was initially struggling when it said "getting photos" so I removed my google account, but the app still crashed!
Really frustrating, open to any suggestions and please let me know if you have the same issues, hopefully I'm not alone.
I'm glad I'm not the only one! Mine works and loads, but swiping between photos is quite jittery...even though it was silky smooth on my old phone! Really disappointing software optimisation for a new phone

Working fine here
All good for me too, finding it strange that some people are having issues that others don't have. It's smooth and fast loading for me just like Google maps, another app people are having trouble with.
I'm having trouble with Google maps
1.07 solves the maps issue. My photos working great.
It's pretty frustrating that we don't know when these updates will actually be live to every user...I haven't had any updates and am thinking of returning in my returns window just incase nothing comes through... Pretty frustrating!
I have no issue with Google Photos. It sync between my pixel 2 and p20 pro nicely. App performance is good with no crash as well.
I only had maps issue on .106 but .107 fixed it.

It's like that with pretty muchevery phone bar pixel and OnePlus. Always dependant on the network/carrier for them to get a move on and release the updates.
I'm still on the first firmware with Three but then again I don't really care so much as I am having none of the issues with Maps or Google Photos etc.
I had a sync issue with Chrome but I fixed it with a factory reset.

I'm still stuck on 102
Try turning off the smart resolution option and see if that resolved crashing or freezing issues. Then refresh the resolution by switching back and forth once to the one you want ... This fixed Google maps for me
For me it doesn't crash but switching between photos is always a little laggy. If I go to the playstore and uninstall the google photos updates the lag is gone. So for me it is working fine with an older version but not with the current one. A friend of mine has the exact same issue. We were both on .106 (dual sim) and now on .107.

Thanks for this! It's been bugging me seeing that lag
Hope they get their act together though
Still not working for me! Any other fixes for Google photos... Is there a way to get this reported properly?
Its look like its not the good cpu witch is used that why.. i dont find any fix. (i dont use this software...)
I get that it says to connect my charger to sync my photos. And when I do it still doesn't sync.
The thing is that the option for choosing sync when charging or not charging is gone from the app. And I want it to always sync, not only when charging!

How do I uninstall updates via Google Play? Having this problem too.
Hi, I am having issues with new photos taking ages to appear in Google Photos/sync. Unless I've been into Google photos new photos don't seem to appear when using the Huawei camera. I've done an experiment with the Google camera and new photos appear straight away. Any ideas?
Have you got power management disabled for Google photos? I've found that helps for me - I assume that the ai keeps killing photos in the background so it can't really get an opportunity to do the backup.
Thanks
That seems to have helped, thanks

Is it just me or Google photos is lagging even more when scrolling in full screen view after today's update? ?

I'm having similar issues on my P20 Pro. When browsing images in full screen mode, Google Photos stutters.
A more serious issue is that the app gets confused by the dates. It says photos taken today were captured yesterday, etcetera.
The system date and time is correct and so is the metadata. Not sure what to do besides hoping for a miracle update. :/
Update: The date issue is luckily gone, but Google Photos is still lagging like crazy. Tried a factory reset but that didn't help.
Anyone? It's so slow that I prefer to not even use it.
Has anybody else noticed a weird diamond spot on some surfaces though honor play camera?
It is visible only on certain surfaces and colors, at the center of camera.
I have uploaded the pics in a honor club post, link below.
https://club.hihonor.com/in/thread.252357
I have also uploaded the video here if someone not able to compare with pics.
Anybody has any clue why is it there, please check and share your views.

I just tried this and yes. It's in mine too. Grrrr
After a few tries, I can only get it to show if I use the flash. Maybe it's just a flash issue?
Yep, I have this problem too.
Is this issue fixed? I'm guessing AI mode caused this (if that makes sense)
I've ordered Honor Play 4GB variant India which will be delivered on 4th Oct 2018 Sunday.
Starting to regret my choice.

Makes no sense that it's connected to ai, no. How could it? You can safely ignore the muppets on that other forum ("maybe you have a mark on your jeans" lol!)
It happens with me with Open Camera so it's not even related to the stock camera app. I used to have a sony z3 and that camera added a pink blob in the middle. I just don't think phone manufacturers test their stuff properly.

Oh cool ! Thanks for the reply.
Got any tips for a new Honor Play user ?
I only see it when I use the flash, on items close to the lens, so I'm wondering if it's taking the image slightly sooner than it should do?
It seems like and it's the actual flash LED glow that's causing the spot?
If it took a millisecond longer to take the pic, the LED glow wouldn't get picked up by the image sensor?
Just a theory.

No, because for me it happens (I can see the shape) when i've not yet taken the shot so there's no flash, focus light etc. And the shape - it's a rotated square.
It is odd, because I can't get it to occur on every photo. It does seem easiest on trousers! Perhaps it's supposed to be a watermark that's much less visible.
If you only pretend to use your phone camera and instead use a proper camera, like huawei do (https://petapixel.com/2018/08/20/huawei-caught-faking-smartphone-photos-with-a-dslr-again/) then you won't have this problem.
Hello All,
I have recently bought a global version of MI 9 and everything was fine until one of the updates that I got.
1. I got the MIUI update with the June security patch (Android Version - 9 PKQ1.181121.001, MIUI version - MIUI GLOBAL VERSION 10.2.13 STABLE 10.2.13.0 (PFAMIXM))
2. Google photos shows as last updated on the same day (4.21.0.258856319)
Everything else is fine, but after I open Google Photos and open any photo, the photo just dims. Is hard to explain and hence attaching the video for details. Any ideas ??

Uninstall Google photo update and check if the problem stay.
My Google photo version is 4.20 updated on 18 July.
I have the exact same issue on Mi 9 Global.
Downgraded Google Photos to 4.15.0.245117517 and the dimming issue when opening a photo went away.
Found the same problem with eu rom, downgrade to be Google Photos 4.17.0.249919200 is also good.
Need to wait until newer Google Photos version before trying again.
In display setttings/contrast use normal, adaptive and boost cause the dimming effect

It's not that issue. I've got the same since the last update and haven't touched anything. Apparently Google screwed up and thank God it's not only me.
Download the latest gphotos and disable any contrast settings and dimming does not accur
Issue is caused from Google Photo's app, not from build.
Just got 4.21 version of Google photo and the issue start like yours,so i decided to change the colors mode in display setting to standard and it seems to fix it somehow but not like as before, still little dimming or contrast adjustment happening.
I have unistalled updates in app settings, then update from playstore and now is ok
Using standard display will made screen look like washed out and not rich colors.
Removing the update + reinstalling fixed it.

I don't use Google photos but I do recall seeing people complain about this on another forum and a different phone... So looks like it's a bug in Google photos not miui.

It's due Google Photos now support Wide Color Gamut including P3 color mode, other android app just support sRGB. Therefore Google Photos can now differentiate more colors than before which is good, but our android versions don't support it now. It works flawlessly in Pixel phones but causing Yellowish/Green tint or dimming or contrasty in others. Don't worry GPhotos may roll back this update temporarilyhttps://www.xda-developers.com/google-photos-wide-color-image-support-buggy-photo-viewer/
