Once you unlock the boot loader and put US Cellular PIE on the Sprint phone, how do you update the software when security patches come out?

From my understanding you have to update through LG Up.

Thank you , but I tried and that and it said I was up to date. But I am still on the June security patch, not July.

I got an update on my unlocked Note 8 about a week or so ago, brought me to a December 1 patch level.
Still on November security patch.. No latest update yet.
Are you guys with ATT?
With no info about the update... I am not sure if I want to update it lol

Since it is unlocked, U1, the update came from Samsung. not att. It was a minor security patch that brought security up to the December patch.

Thanks for telling them where the updates come from for the unlocked devices.
Carrier branded phones will get updated from that said carrier ok.

Thanks

This isn't news nor a guide. Wrong sub thread. This needs to be in Q&A section.

No, we need to wait for the U1 update to be released witch has typically been the last to be released. I believe these are the U versions being referred to here. Also everything new on Sammobile is the U so far. It shouldn't much longer for us.

I'm using it on project fi and no December update yet either.
I also have U1 version.
Note 960U 8\512 US Spectrum nothing since November 1, 2018.
I may not update until my Bixby Button and Navbar App's are updated!

Have not receives any updates since November update too on Sprint using unlocked model. It seems either Sprint or unlocked version always receives the updates last in the US.

Got mine today too. I thought it was Android Pie because it was being moved up for January, but damn it was moved back again.

I ended up using the firmware.science to update to pie. That bumped me up to December update automatically on pie. I also get to keep the Unlocked firmware without any bloatware and the rom is rocksolid stable.

After reading from users how the pie update takes away functionality and is full of bugs, I'm fine with them delaying the rollout.

Did you go from an unlocked build to a carrier build? That will cause issues with Face Unlock and for me also causes issues with phone lag. Full flashed the unlocked factory image back to my phone and everything was back to normal.
I dont think I did but maybe thanks for that info really helps!
Stock kernel or? Some customs need to be updated to Dec sources for face unlock to work

My original unlocked build was QD1A.190821.007
I originally went to QD1A.190821.014.C2 in November because I'm on ATT and then had issues with phone lag and had to redo my face data.
I then flashed to QD1A.190821.007.A3 for the unlocked phone and had no issues.
For December I went to QQ1B.191205.011 at first with no issues, but then flashed QQ1B.191205.012.A1 as that was what most were getting on an unlocked phone regardless of carrier through OTA (I'm not in the EMEA region or on Google Fi or T-Mobile).
Any word on when this will come out? I know it is out for some of the carriers, but hasnt come to unlocked yet

I have a US unlocked version and I'm still waiting.
Any update could be nice, the 04 update had the 03 security patch.

Same. Does this come through the Carrier or Samsung? Is someone trying to discourage unlocked devices?

I feel like in the US the carriers have to okay it first before it goes out to unlock, at least that is what I've read
