i recently got a z3c in a good condition, but apparrently the Usb port is not working. Is there any way to unlock the bootloader without Usb? or to root it?
Somebody suggested to use ADB over wifi, but the guides i've read require Usb for initial setup. Would it work with the ADB Wifi apk? That requires a rooted device, would you recommend the KingoRoot apk to root it?
But KingoRoot might also be able to unlock the BL, wouldn't that be the easiest way?
I ultimately want to install LOS, like on my zc1 (or maybe try Carbon, as it seems to be a bit more stable).
Thanks for any advice.

I recently got rid of my pc and now use a tablet and Nexus 6.
I've only ever rooted using a pc, but i was wondering if i wanted to root and run a rom on my Nexus 6, can it still be done? Im pretty sure running a rom can be, but not sure about unlocking and rooting.
Any info would be helpful! Thanks!
I am unsure if you have a tablet that is capable of running it, or another phone, but this could potentially work for you. I haven't ever used it, so I can't verify if it works, but people seem to be having success in that thread recently.
If you don't have a phone or tablet that has OTG support, or for whatever reason can't get that to work, then you will need a PC. You have to use fastboot to unlock the bootloader to get root or a custom ROM. Once your bootloader is unlocked you have a couple options, but still step 1 is *fastboot oem unlock* (well actually it is to enable oem unlock in developer's options).
As a side note, I would recommend against rooting and ROMing if you don't have regular access to something that can use the SDK tools (fastboot and adb). Even if they are rare, there are situations that could pop up that would require you to have fastboot handy to get your phone back to functional shape.
I have no windows computer with adb drivers and flashtool. I cannot unlock the bootloader for my phone. I turned to the one-touch root apps and found KingRoot. It worked; it injected itself into /system/xbin, but the root was just MOD EDIT by @gregbradley Rule 2.1 (Swearing activating the profanity filter) . Next, I got an app to switch KingRoot to SuperSU, since Mr. w0lf is clearly an idiot (his shell script is the worst shell programming out there), and it worked too. I updated the su binary, was prompted to reboot, and the next thing on my hands is a bootloop. How can I fix this with a locked bootloader? I don't want to pay money to get it fixed (I can afford it); what should I do?
My parents are willing to provide me with a windows vm.

Sorry to hear that you have had problems with Kingroot, you're not the first and you wont be the last.
As long as the phone still turns on and you can get it into flashmode, then you will be able to rescue it, but a Windows PC is going to be essential.
The easiest option will be to install PC Companion, then follow the instructions to repair it.
Unfortunately this will put you back where you started, stock rom, possibly MM build.
If you want to spend some more time and root you phone correctly and enable flashing of custom roms then you need to follow bilboa1's guide completely.
Make sure you do a backup of your TA partition, before you do anything else.
You will need Sony drivers and flashtool
Rooting your phone will not effect the bootloader and there are several 'stock' roms that you can flash that will not effect bootloader status. Slim is a favourite of mine.
MM builds are still a bit flakey and it'll be several months before all the bugs are ironed out, so might be best to avoid for the moment.

Thanks. I will try it. I have nothing against the stock rom, luckily I know now to unlock the bootloader before rooting.
I will come back with the results in a few days to 1 week.

there isn't any way to do it yet as far as I know
Sorry if I'm misunderstanding. I've done a ton of searching and am still unable to figure it out.
Is it possible to root this device? (6055U)? I'm not concerned w/ the bootloader, just simply want to root. I have not yet tried any of the one-click's (kingroot, kingoroot, etc)
I would really appreciate it if someone would please explain to me. All of these sites/threads make it seem simple, just unsure of the U device.
I just got it today from Cricket and am considering returning it if I am unable to get root.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
There is currently no root for the cricket variant of the device, I believe it's mainly because the fastboot OEM unlock command is disabled, so we can't get permissive selinux. I've been able to get semi root with dirty cow but it's basically useless, unless someone knows how to use that to turn off selinux, or get a real root shell running, neither of which I have been able to accomplish so far. If anyone has any ideas shoot them my way.
There is this weird problem with my Xperia Z c6602. It charges only when its completely drained out!! It doesnt charges in between. So i think this is a problem of software. I googled it and many people had this problem. Now I want to Root and Flash a custom rom.
But i am able to only root it using KINGROOT. Now i need to UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER TO SET UP CUSTOM RECOVERY But i dont know how to do it because that usb port is not working!! What it does that only charge when completely drained and the phone doesnt even GETS RECOGNISED By PC!
I am stuck TOTALLY STUCK!!
I NEED A WAY TO JUST DOWNGRADE OR FLASH ANY ROM. I AM A TOTAL NOOB IN THIS CASE. I THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

And doesnt fast boot requires a pc??!
I never know the way to put TWRP without PC before but there is a new Official TWRP App on PlayStore. It means you can flash TWRP without PC (I never test it myself). Maybe you can give it a shot.
I don't know If Kingroot would work but to increase success rate, install and run supersume.apk IMMEDIATELY after phone rooted. Means No reboot after rooting process is done. Supersume will install SuperSu for root management. Note that Supersume is a paid app.
The steps are:
- make sure your bootloader is unlocked (unlocking process by PC). There is a thread about this somewhere on this forum, but I prefer the Official way. Much reliable.
- install Kingroot and begin the rooting process (btw, I'm using kingroot v4.5 back then).
- If succeed, DON'T REBOOT, install supersume and begin the process (note: it's a paid app so if you wanna continue without supersume, you are free to go to the next step).
- Install Official TWRP App on playstore. Then install The latest TWRP for Yuga.
Note: I don't guarantee that this method will work 100%, and if you can't unlock your bootloader then there is nothing you can do. Sorry.
i just want to say, i used my device for long, i dont wanna wipe my data but i want to root it. is that possible?
THX in advance
If your bootloader isn't unlocked then doing so will wipe data. If it is unlocked you can use the latest version of Magisk. Following this guide:
Magisk Root without custom Recovery and without losing Encryption
So, I unlocked my bootloader a couple of days ago, but when I got into the point of flashing TWRP, I realized that there is no custom recovery that supports device encryption. For that reason I didn't root my phone but there is a way around...

Obviously you will need the correct boot.img file relevant to your specific Redmi Note 10s device extracted from an official rom.
You'll also need to enable usb debugging in the hidden developer options and configure ADB properly on your computer.
If you don't use the correct rom for your device it will get stuck in a bootloop, or just won't boot at all, requiring a hard reset and loss of all data.
There are guides for all these things on the XDA forums.
If you haven't heard of these things before, this is your main phone, or you aren't confident in your abilities then I don't recommend doing it, but it's your choice just don't blame others if something goes wrong.

okay! i think i dont wanna root it then if you give advice to not do so
Sorry I missed out the part about the bootloader which is important and edited the post above so please re-read.
Yeah if unsure then just don't do it as you could end up losing everything very easily.

technically there is a way to unlock the bootloader without losing data but magisk is kinda fuc*ed up on MIUI, and it can cause the phone to not boot

it's not as simple as that, you can register to unlock your bootloader by xiaomi from the dev options, but you still have to do the unlock though your pc with the miunlock program logged into your account. This takes 7 days to verify and the moment you do it it wipes your data.
This is the official way of unlocking your bootloader and being able to do with the device whatever you want.
There is an alternative unofficial way of doing it and that method claims to not delete data on your device, but I have no idea how well that method works since it seems to rely on some sort of workaround. here's a link to the post about that method, I just did mine the official way and copied my files back and redownloaded the apps.

also if you do decide to unlock your bootloader one way or the other, I recommend the following Kernel if you want a less throttled gaming experience.

+1 this works
Yes its possible to not wipe data or lose it during the process at this point in time.
Just this past week (I'm new to redmi phones ) did the same process for the note 10s and note 9.
The issue with bootloader unLocking (which normally means a data wipe) is negated with mtkclient.
A Data backup is just a good standard practice but understanding the procedures posted before and following them correctly should give no issue.
You can root it by using termux too.
To root an Android phone using Termux, follow these steps:
Install Termux app from the Google Play Store
Open Termux and run pkg install git to install Git
Run git clone https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/termux-root.git to clone the root repository
Change directory with cd termux-root
Run sh install.sh to install the root tool
Restart the phone and the phone should be rooted.
Note: Rooting a phone voids its warranty and can potentially harm the device if not done carefully. Proceed at your own risk.
