Is there an official Huawei 'pure' unbranded firmware? - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

New to Huawei and have been farming search engines, but if you feel the need to shoot me down in flames with a link and subsequent "use the search d#$%head" then please feel free, we're all friends here.
I wanna stick to stock firmware while the OTAs are current or at least until I get bored and inevitably ram a throbbing veiny custom build that ROM Jeremy (get it) would be proud of up that sweet tight little USB-C of my P20 Pro.
I have SIM unlocked my EE C782E10R1P9 but I can't sleep easy knowing EE has been behind my back and left its stain inside my firmware. Also, on any factory reset the EE bloatware returns. I read a lot about Three customers also getting annoyed with splash screens on boot etc.
Now here's where you tell me I'm barking up the wrong tree. I've been trying to decipher the firmware numbers. Take C782E10R1P9 as an example of what I think I understand:
C782 = UK
E10 = EE
R1P9 = Unsure as of now although all UK firmware I've seen seem to end in this
Does a pure, as Huawei would have built it, firmware exist without any evidence of carriers/suppliers sticky fingers and what would the 'E10' in the above example be replaced by?
Do your worst...

Rebranding to C432 should give you a clean experience. If you don't have your bootloader unlock code then you have to wait, like the rest of us, for third-party websites like FunkyHuawei to get it since the Huawei ended the support last year. Save up 100E and be patient.

I forgot, in case you don't get it, you need your bootloader unlocked to be able to flash another version.

As above, rebranding and then using stock c432 9.0 or c431/lgrp2 9.1 version firmware is as close as you get to it but you'll still get any network splash screens etc on startup as they're now hardcoded to your handset. Just the firmware won't have all the network specific bloatware.

Makes no difference what firmware you have... soon after you insert EE, Vodafone, O2 simcard phone will want to pull small update which will install some crap related to each network.
I have P20 c782 and P20 Pro c432 they both act identically in this respect.

I guess I'm lucky then. I have no network splashscreen and only network related app I've seen is MyEe and I installed that on my handsets anyway.

Thanks, it's a real shame Huawei have put up such a barrier for the bootloader unlock. I'm coming from HTC10 and HD2 before that for which you just click your heels and they're good to go.

Thankfully I don't have any network splashscreens (that would really p!$$ me off) and only one network related app, but I know EE have done more to this firmware than just added My EE. The main reason I wanted to get on a stock 'unbranded' firmware was to benefit from earlier OTAs.
Thought I'd note I'm with the SMARTY network (UK) who are a new small-time brand operating over the EE network. Perhaps this explains the lack of splashscreen - I don't know.

EVA-L29 Stock ROM for EVA-L10

Hi guys, gals(?)
I recently bought the Huawei P9 EVA-L10 (Chinese Dual-Sim "premium version" (4G/64G)).
Like so many others, I would like to remove the Chinese Android-version and replace it with an International Version.
From what I can make out, the EVA-L29 should be the equivalent "International Version" of the EVA-L10.
But, I've been searching high and low to find a EVA-L29 ROM, but been unsuccessful, the EVA-L09 ROM in the forum doesn't install on my phone (unrooted), and I'm not sure if it would work since it's for the single-sim version..
Thanks for any advice
You won't find anything yet because that model is not even available for sale yet anywhere. I had the EVA-10 and sold it because I couldn't stand the chinese stuff on it. Bought the L09 which is the 3GB/32GB International Unlocked version. Less RAM but still very snappy. And the L29 btw will only come in the ugly GOLD color, so until it comes in mystic silver I am not buying it.
I believe that we are int he same boat as well.
Just received my L10 yesterday and no doubt is the best hardware I even tried.
On the contrary of a lot of reviews, I think the UI is quite nice, but the down side is all of the Huawei branded apps that come in Chinese which I have nothing agaisnt, but becaus eI am not planning to learn another language in the next 2 years, maybe an option to change the language inside the apps would be great.
I think we need to wait until someone realizes that there is a gap and it needs to be tackled.
Any news, I will be posting here.
I have found sellers on eBay that sells L29 phones. But still there is no stock firmware anywhere to download.

I have AL10 too and be able to install google service and make everything works fine except the voice helper is still in Chinese. Would love to replace it with Google now but so far, no luck.
How did you manage to install Google Contacts Sync? Its not shown in the HiApp, or Playstore. Also It doesnt install from the APK.
hI! I use this model EVA AL10 in India...The phone works flawlessly despite China specific firmware and the chinese language in the stock browser and other Huawei apps is only a minor annoyance. i was horrified when the android wear apps from Playstore AND HiApp refused to pair with my phone....i get a message ...use an android wear in china device! its such a shame...the only option seems to be rooting the phone and installing the international rom everyone keeps talking about...please help

[Q] Unlock Vodafone p10

Hi All
Apologies as this have probably come up loads but i can't get the "reassurance" i need to do it.
Basically i am the proud owner of the p10 via vodfone uk ... i am looking at maybe unlocking the phone (I know this can be done) but the outcome i want is for it to essentially be stock or in other words as if i purchased an unlocked P10 on amazon for example.
The reason for this is i would like quicker access to updates in Europe rather than wait for the carrier to arrange them. The software from vodafone UK doesn't seem to be as smooth as when i see reviews based on unlocked phones ? some micro stuttering in the app draw and chrome seems to run badly. I know some phones shipped with slower onboard storage but mine was a shade under 800 mbs when i checked so all OK on that front.
So once i have unlocked the phone how do i then make the phone as if its a standard unlocked model ... suspect it would involve flashing a new ROM ? I am sticking with Vodafone for now so is an unlock code even needed? could i flash a stock rom other the vodafone software ?
Many thanks in advance

Ok thanks all will take a look

Is the P20 Pro the same in all countries?

Hi!
So I've bought a Samsung S9 Duos recently and to be honest, although I like the phone and have been on a Samsung streak for the past few years, I'm getting seriously tired of their country dependant shenanigans. Because I live in Canada, when I buy a Global phone there's a bunch of stuff that either doesn't work or does only partially. And because the Canadian model is a SD proc, not an Exynos, it's an absolute nightmare to switch CSCs and get everything working right...
I hesitated long and hard to get a P20 pro, but the fact it wasn't available anywhere in Canada made me nervous. But my carrier (Rogers) recently announced it so, being really tired of this Samsung ****e, I'm considering returning the S9 and getting the P20 pro (even if it doesn't have a lot of stuff I like such as the headphone jack, SD card and wireless charging).
TL;DR
My question is, if I get an international (dual SIM) model of the P20 pro, is it going to be different than the Canadian one? Is there an equivalent of CSC codes with Samsung that I have to worry about, or can I assume it will be the same phone and I just need to activate it to get carrier specifics?
Thanks
I'm not an expert, but before I bought my P20 Pro, I made sure that it worked with the AT&T's network frequency bands. Each network has different bands and if the phone doesn't support the band, it won't connect.

Thanks for the input. I checked the bands for sure, and they are covered since it will be sold on my carrier soon. I guess what I meant is more the model itself, if there are variants per country or if we (Canada) are getting the same global version.
You see I come from a Samsung user's background and they have these silly country codes that dictate what you can use and where. I'm not sure it's related, but I found that even if on paper all LTE bands are covered with my S9, it still has shoddy reception compared to a Canadian S7. I could try to flash my CSC code to the phone, but a) it's complicated and risks bricking the phone and b) since the Canadian model is NOT the same as the global one, my CSC cannot be applied to this phone no matter how hard I try...

FunkyHuawei offers a rebranding tool, which changes the region of the ROM. I used it because I bought mine from a Chinese e-commerce website. I rebranded to European region.
I couldn't find anything about International or Global versions of the phone. I know they are region locked, but the rebranding tool will fix that. You can also flash a firmware from FunkHuawei or use HuRUpdater tool from TWRP custom recovery.
I have used both tools, and had 100% success.

New Samsung Note 8 for EAU

Hello, I just bought a new Samsung Note 8 on Amazon, from a 3rd party seller to save 100 pounds, and after it was shipped I found that the tracking number they gave me pointed the delivery origin from Dubai. When I got my phone I found out it was meant for the Emirate Arab United region, I wanted the phone to be for the UK. Are there any features or updates or hardware limitations I should be aware of? Is there a way to change the firmware to UK version without losing my warranty? And even on that note I'm not even sure what kind of warranty I have for the phone or if I can even get it repaired under warranty.
So far I am very happy with how the phone looks, feels and performs, coming from Samsung Note 4, just unsure if I can use Samsung Pay for example, one annoying thing is that I am unable to get Google Now launcher to run on the phone and the Bixby (swipe left) shows me video content from the Arab region.
Warranty will be an issue if you didn't purchase third-party insurance through the Reseller or Amazon. If you haven't yet, see if this is a possibility. Samsung rarely offers international warranty support on devices sold outside their intended regions.
I've had two devices from United Arab Emirates (S7 Edge and Note 8). All F/DS models use the same software base so you can flash any firmware intended originally for Vodafone, O2, or Three. Since I roam between the United States and Canada, I installed Latin American firmware. I have no issues with connectivity except being unable to roam on CDMA (Sprint/Verizon) but to my experience/knowledge, all networks in your country are GSM-based.
Hi,
For the warranty: NO European warranty. Seller Warranty only. You can change firmware by downloading Uk firmware wi Samfire software( you can find it on xda) and flash it with odin software( You can find it on xda too). if you can't manage to find the softwares, tell me and i will post the links.
the only significant difference will be the Oem unlock bootloader. I Think but not sure that you will have to wait the168 h if you flash a Custom the see The oem toogle in the developper option appear but there is a fi x.
On my side, i've already bought note8 dual sim on Samsung shop and after trigging something, The Oem option disappeared. i sold it and waited a little and hop... on Samsung shop a big discount appeared. I've bougth my second for 649€. No need to pass thought a 3rd part seller to Save money. If you have any other question don't hesitate.

Can you please link me to the stuff needed to flash UK firmware?
The phone is bought now and I am reluctant to give it back, even with the warranty limitations (I had enough stress trying to get a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 within my budget). I just hope everything will be ok for the next 3 years (at least) that I intend to keep the phone as my daily driver. But I am happy I got the Exynos and Dual Sim version, only wish it was blue color.

You can get the firmware from sammobile.com, updato.com or using the SamFirm tool. The firmware can be flashed using the latest version of Odin. Make sure you get the right firmware for your device (i.e. N950F firmware). Read up a lot first if you haven't done it before

Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE on XZ3 Dual (H9436)

Hello everyone ?
Does anyone know of a way to get Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE loaded onto an unlocked, stock, non-rooted, H9436 ?.
PS: I know as a fact that my carrier supports both of them ?
Thank You
Only way is to use Xperifirm to download your regions firmware and flash it.
I know on my previous XZP I had a G8142 dual sim (Hong Kong) and flashed it a G8141 Single Sim (Australia) Firmware without any issues.
Unfortunately Sony Mobile has pulled out of Australia and there no Australian firmware for the XZ3. So I'll never get VoLTE on this phone now.

Did you see any battery life improvement since the second modem is not being used? ?
Is there no risk of bricking it?
It's gonna be horrible having all of my carriers crap on my phone
Maybe you could try using the firmware of another region that has it

XZP battery life became one of the best phones I've had after the last Oreo update. Since Pie it hasn't improved much. I would have the phone synced to my android watch all day. By the time i hit bed, i'd have 35% battery life left.
My current XZ3, would be dead by the time i get home from work, yet its supposed to have a bigger batter 3330mah vs 3230mah.
You dont have to use your specific carriers, just your country. Using the Generic Australian ROM I got VoLTE and VoWiFi working on Vodafone AU network.
At this current time no firmware is able to make VoLTE work on XZ3. Simply cause Sony Sucks now.
Might even sell this phone off or return it, as I've only had it a week.

Yeah battery life on this phone is just horrible
My mom has the XZP but she's stuck on Oreo cause Sony mobile abandoned the region, I'm planning on flashing a different region's firmware on my next trip home.
I thought of my carrier's firmware cause in France (my profile still says Lebanon cause I didn't bother changing, I moved to France a couple of months ago) the only unlocked version they sell is the dual sim one, the one sold by operators is the single sim one but they install their own firmware, and also because on their support website that mentioned that the xz3 that they sell is compatible with VoWiFi and VoLTE.
If you return it what would you get?

Well I haven't returned it, cause I still don't have my XZP back from warranty repairs. Appears Sony is abandoning alot of regions. Though they are still releasing updates for those phones which is a good thing.
I love Sony Xperia phones, by far the best quality handsets in terms of workmanship, etc. But how they go about their software implementations has a lot to desire.
Hoping one day Sony deploys Carrier integrations like alot of the smaller manufacturers i.e Asus, Huawei, Oppo and Nokia, who are able to enable VoLTE without any specific region firmware.

Yeah Xperia phone are really great, they have a mix of build quality and balance between software features and performance that just isn't available with other phones in the Android world (not talking about iPhones cause iOS is just BAD). I remember when I switched from my Z1 to a note 5, I was so disappointed. Wasn't sure if I wanted to get the Z5 or the note 5, so I decided to see why people praise Sammy, what a mistake ??*.
Going back to the main subject of this thread ?
I hadn't flashed my phone yet cause I had been pretty busy with school and wasn't sure if I should flash my carrier's firmware or not. So last week I got an update. A couple of hours later I went into the settings to tinker with stamina mode. And there I see it. A big banner on the top telling me to activate Wi-Fi Calling. So of course I did but couldn't test it directly cause I was out and about. When I got home (I have really bad reception in my dorm room, when people call me they go directly to voicemail cause I don't have any reception), I tried to see figure it out, but apparently it's just a placebo, it doesn't actually do anything ?
