If it was sold as single SIM (L09), you cannot 'transform' (by changing firmware) to dual SIM (L29), because there are hardware differences.
For any flashing (changing cust for stock firmware, custom ROM, rooting, TWRP) you have to buy Bootloader code and unlock Bootloader (it is possible but the code is costly)

They are expensive. I'm also waiting for their answer (people say they answer from time to time, they depend on an insider, when he is able...):
https://imei.by/delivery
Ministry can also do it, little cheaper (40$) but you will need to open back cover and connect Testpoint pins. Minister will need Team Viewer remote access to your PC. I guess (didn't go for, waiting if I can buy from the first above) he will low-level flash an old Oreo, where from it was possible to generate BL code. Then he would, IMO, update back to Pie. Guy told me the operation might take an hour or two:
https://ministryofsolutions.com/paid-services/amp
I was also told that those can provide the code but for ridiculously high price (you can ask them):
https://funkyhuawei.club/
Finally, don't use them, they only unlock BL for one-time (and high price) you don't get the code:

Exactly for VTR-L09 or some other Huawei model (it's not the same)
A year ago I played for a week and rebranded EVA-L09 to L19, tried a lot but it never became dual SIM.
To the other side, similar rebranding to dual SIM model worked fine and straightforward for P9 Lite
Edit: You could have provide a link to spread info and help the community (if single SIM P10 can be really rebranded to dual SIM)
This is what i got with MT tool
Can i install one of those updates and if ok how can i perform it
Thank's

Hi! I have the China specific EVA-AL10 version of the Huawei P9. The phone works perfectly in India, although the stock browser , voice command and some other apps work only in Chinese. It doesn't even recognise a Huawei watch brought in the US. I know this phone, same version is available in the US and Europe. I am sure their must b other firmware too..can anyone please suggest a solution...I think k a different ...more open firmware is needed
I am in the same situation. I didn't flash a new rom. I just changed the default app, such as message, browser, etc.
You can user google launcher, which gives you the classic UI, and you can set the voice assistant as google now, so that you can use "Okay Google" to voice control it. Just that the original Chinese voice assistant is still there, just ignore it.
Can't change the default Launcher...what's the workaround

Go to Apps -> Advanced (at the bottom) -> Default App Settings
You can change the launcher and other system apps there.

Just a heads up about the BL unlock. The code I got from Huawei website did not work for me. I got an error message that the password was wrong when I entered unlock command. I got a code from DC unlocker ($4 euors. Which was different from the Huawei site) and it worked for me.
Converting to from AL10 to L19 was very beneficial to me. I have no issues so far.

according to willMyPhoneWork site,
EVA-L19 (Global Dual SIM version) 4G LTE: Band4-AWS, Band7-2600MHz
the L19 is not fully compatible with my mobile provider,
EVA-AL10 (China, Dual SIM version) 4G LTE: Band17-700MHz, Band4-AWS, Band2-1900MHz, Band7-2600MHz
EVA-L09 (Global Single SIM version)4G LTE: Band17-700MHz, Band4-AWS, Band2-1900MHz, Band7-2600MHz
EVA-L29 (Global Dual SIM version) 4G LTE: Band17-700MHz, Band4-AWS, Band2-1900MHz, Band7-2600MHz
if I flash my AL10 to L19, is that means I can't use LTE?
can any one let me know ?
thanks,
I don't have any issues with LTE after debranding my AL10 to L19. I use dual sim set up with ATT and Tmobile in United States and it works fine. Just keep in mind that only one sim can be LTE and the other will have to be 2G.
thanks for your clarification,
I plan to use only 1 SIM card + MicroSD

Yes you will need to unlock the bootloader. You need to go back to MM if you want to debrand with the SRK tool. SRK tool has oeminfo for L19C636 and L19185.
Initially, I debranded my AL10 to L19C636 (asia). I had to downgrade to MM and used SRK tool. But I was not able to get OTA to latest Nougat.
So I debranded again, but this time to L19C432 (SRK tool only has oeminfo for L09C432, but not L19C432). I followed this guide from Tecalote to do it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72153575&postcount=2.
It does not use the SRKtool, so you will have to do must of the steps manually. Be sure to follow it EXACTLY.
I hope this helps.

I have the Eva-al10 and would like to get rid off the chinese letters and download attachments problems.
Could someone post a step by step process to change it to L19 ( for android dummies like myself)?
I suggest debranding your device
I just debranded my EVA-AL10 to EVA-L09 (european version) and everything is working fine but it wasn't easy 99% of instructions (even on this forum) didn't work because they are based on Android 6 and if you already have Android 7 you have to find solution by yourself. When I have enough time I'll write it on this forum because I didn't find even one working "step by step" instruction "How to change chinese soft on AL-10 to european"

How you make the debrand ?
Hi XDA guys,
I got a Huawei P9 EVA-DL00 from China and want to use it in Europe (Germany). As I don't know Chinese I would like to change language/region properties to make it as international as possible. I'm not sure what is the smartest way to do so: keep and modify the original ROM as far as possible and accept it's limitations or to flash a different ROM.
To keep the chinese firmware seems to have a couple of limitations though, i.e even after changing region settings to my needs there are still only chinese language settings in the stock browser, lock screen and others, I couldn't find Google play store in HiApp (and ended up installing an apk from a site that I don't know if it's trustful), HiVoice is in Chinese and so on. Therefore my prefered solution is to install a different firmware to make my phone similar to the international P9 version EVA-L19 with CUST C432 - but I don't know if this is possible at all and in which limitations/problems this would result.
Currently my firmware is EVA-DL00C17B183, I received it OTA in Germany right after connecting the device with the internet for the first time. The service menu reports vendor: unicom, country: cn - no sim lock. So is it possible to flash a EVA-L19 ROM on my device at all? Somewhere I read flashing a chinese model with a european firmware would end up in having a C900 firmware that doesn't receveive major OTA updates, is this correct?
I'm not really familiar with unlocking/rooting/flashing mobile phones. I'm for sure willing to find out how this needs to be done - this doesn't mean I don't appreciate any hints - but I am a bit worried to brick the mobile and I would prefer to do a manual flash only as an initial step and be able to receive OTA updates also for major updates (such as Android 7.0 one day) later on in the future. Furthermore I would like to have a 100% working and reliable mobile and not to end up with a not properly working hardware support or whatever. All in all I don't know if it's worthy to take the 'trouble' of flashing a different ROM.
Thanks for any information and help!
Andy
I got a P9 from my tour in China. I like its dual lens feature. Leica is another reason. My old mobile phone needed charging three times in two days and I lost battery charge for my camera. I easily changed the language setting. Most of the apps don't work well in US. I downloaded google store, through which I installed most apps used in my old phone. However there are a few good Huawei apps that I keep using. Another feature I like is the dual SIM slot, through which I expanded its memory.

Only way to do it is to first unlock bootloader and flash TWRP and root. Then u must change oeminfo and custom with SrkTool Huawei. If u dont have experience on flashing and root i would stay away from trying.
Have you found a way to make it 'non-chinese'? Struggling with the same problem now and wondering if it would be possible to just install stock android since the problem is with EMUI.

Hi, is possible to unlock the bootloader on this model (DL00)? Because, i tried but it says "failed (remote: command not allowed)"
Thanks
@Stieglers due to a lack of time I didn't complete the process yet, but I'm very optimistic it is possible.
@EtiZimm It is possible to unlock the bootloader of DL00. I got the unlock code from the Huawei website (am not allowed to post an external link: emui[dot]huawei[dot]com/en/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail - login with Huawei ID necessary).
Once you received this code - in my case I received instantly - you can unlock the bootloader either manually with adb (USB driver needed):
Code:
fastboot devices
fastboot oem unlock <unlock code>
or with SRK Tool (I would just avoid v2.0 as virus scanner reports the main exe to be malware infected).

Hi all,
I'm a little ignorant on this subject, so I'll ask all my questions here. Please, be kind...
I'm moving from a brazilian Xperia XZ to a chinese P20 Pro (my father-in-law works there) and I know that I need to do a rebranding.
But the question is: For which firmware/local?
What I found until now is that the phone has a FW version (is that correct?) CLT-AL00.
Thanks in advance for the answers!

You need to use FunkyHuawei rebranding tool and firmware installation. I had the same model and rebranded to European version CLT-L29. It removed all the Chinese language and made the phone 100% English, which was my goal.
First: Obtain unlock code for the bootloader from Huawei. Contact UK Team.
Second: Create account on FunkyHuawei and buy enough credits to rebrand and install firmware (FunkyHuawei will help you choose the correct ones, ask them)
Third: Follow instructions and contact FunkyHuawei team if you have problems using their tools.
Notes:
After rebranding and firmware installation, you're bootloader will continue to display a message that you're bootloader is unlock and untrust. To fix that, just lock the bootloader again with your unlock code. Don't lose it.
Fastboot mode = Connect USB + Power Down + Volume Down
eRecovery mode = Connect USB + Power Down + Volume Up
Rebranding is not permanent. You change the region again if you want. Same with the firmware.
If you need to recovery for some reason, eRecovery might work with Huawei servers. If eRecovery doesn't work using the normal method, use FunkyHuawei to recover again with firmware installation.
Backup everything before recovering. Cloud backup, PC backup, or whatever method you choose. Keep a record of your system information. Example: IMEI, Serial Number, Serial Number. Some tools can modify these for some reason, so if that happens, you have the necessary numbers to restore. Screenshot them from Settings app and Backup those screenshots.
If you have 2-step authentication apps on your phone, backup those settings or keys before rebranding or installing/recoverying firmware, or you will lose access to certain services.
That was helpful, thank you!
Wow, about $50usd to rebrand? There goes the savings I had buying the China version lol

How can I lock the boot loader again after I have unlocked it?
OK, I understand myself
Use fastboot OEM relock xxxxxxxxxx
This is kind of random, but if i purchase the Chinese variant of this phone does anyone know if it would work on CDMA technology (Verizon)
Where/how to find the rebranding codes

You can do almost everything with the chinese version, you just need to install the Google Apps by yourself (sideloading) first.
Hello,
I don't know what to do anymore. I just want to change the region of my P10 from VTR-L29C185 (Oreo) to VTR-L29C432 (Oreo) because I live in Europe and have problems with the mobile network.
I got my bootloader unlock code from the Huawei Site which didn't work (I get the check password failed! error). Then I contacted Huawei saying the code I got didn't work and they sent me the same code again. I explained them the problem and they told me that in their database, my phone is carrier locked to SFR but 1. I checked the SIMLOCK Status which is "SIMLOCK_DEACTIVE" and 2. my SIM Card from another provider works (I just have these issues like random disconnects and it only gets 2G).
So my question is : Can't I simply just flash the European Firmware via Firmware Finder ? Has anyone tried this ?
Thanks.
No you can't. You'll have to rebrand first, with an unlocked bootloader. Did you enable OEM unlocking in developer options?

Yes. The device is recognized in adb and fastboot, and the bootloader shows FRP Unlocked.
have you choose "after emui 5.x" when you asked for the unlock code? Because it sounds like you asked for unlock code for device "before EMUI 5.x".
next suggestion is that you entered wrong imei/product id/serial number. Where and how you get it?
Or anyway, where you bought the device? C185 is middle east region. And it could be locked to carrier by disabling unlocking bootloader and not sim cards.
you can try DC Phoenix ..you need to pay them, and they will send you the unlock key. Should work.

Yes I chose "after EMUI 5.X", and checked the imei/product/ and serial numbers multiple times. I got it from the settings and the secret menu with the dial code.
I bought it on a french website, but it was not a french reseller. I know C185 is middle east, and yes, I think paying DC Phoenix is the only thing left for me to do.
I read the bootloader code with DC Unlock. It wasn't the same I got from the Huawei website and it worked. Funny that Huawei themselves did not give me the proper code even after contacting them.
I hope I get to fix the network issues now. Thanks !

Hi. I have a mate 10 pro. Originally it was a branded bla-l09 mono sim. I, with funk Huawei, turned it in l29 dual sim. Now I have the need to turn it again in l09 and I think to do this with hwota8 (to save my money). This tool does not touch the mono/dual sim functionality. Doing this, there is a chance that it remains dual sim?
Thanks

Yes, because FH tool flashes an included (and disguised) oeminfo that is dual-sim. The included oeminfo changes your imei, imei2 and sn while in fastboot. Which in turn has also changed your bootloader unlock code.
HWOTA8 will only edit oeminfo to L09 but you will still technically be dualsim. I'm not sure how that will work on L09 firmware though. However, when you flash oeminfo you will have to unlock again, which will be impossible if you don't have your new unlock code (Acquired after you rebranded using FH).
What firmware are you on now?
Starting with BLA-L29C432B145 (The Night Shot update, so might already apply to all cust that has the new Night shot firmware) you can no longer get an unlock code from DC/HCU.

Yes I have a unlock code got after debranding with dc unlocker. Now I am in c432b148-sp1 (xloader 01).
ok i do all.
the situation is this: dual sim works! But in the settings, isn't any option to activate/deactivate sim1/sim2.
If i remove sim 2, It looks like a normal mono sim.
If i can manage it with a third part app... it was fantastic!
