Already customised ringtone and setting for chat that only lasted awhile - Huawei P30 Pro Questions & Answers

Having the experience in setting a particular ringtone in telegram app for a particular person only so as to differentiate ringtone of incoming messages, including the "allow interruptions" enabled. However, this settings only lasted awhile which I am unsure until when. It will revert back to the default notification sound setting which I had set for the phone, and the "allow interruptions" has also been removed.
Is it due to some settings being over-ridding automatically or is the memory not able to save the settings until I changed it again?

[Q] no ringtones anymore selectable

Hi,
I am facing a strange issue with my ringtones.
About 3 days ago I flashed the GoaTrip 1.9 custom rom and until yesterday evening everything was quite fine.
But as I received a call yesterday evening I suddenly had a bad ringtone, like a default one, I never heard before.
Even now on sms and calender it is the same sound which notifies my about a message or a date.
I can find all of the ringtones and notification-sounds looking at /system/media/audio. They are all still available on the device but I can't select them by the setting menu neither by the call settings nor the sms or calender settings, they just don't appear, I can only see "silent" and "default ringtone" as options to select.
Does someone have a hint for me what I can do to solve this issue?
I really want to avaid to go over the rom installation again.
I already tried "Fix permissions".
Thanks for any idea or hint.
Problem is solved.
The Media Scanner was not working correctly due to some stagefright tweaks at Blade Buddy.
After changing back to default and rebooting the system the ringtones are fine again.

Issues? Add them to this list...

Okay, so since I'm having a few kind of big issues, I thought I'd start a list. If anyone has any solutions, please speak up! Yes, I'm rooted, but that's it. I'm running the stock ROM, and these issues existed before I rooted.
1) Silence mode doesn't work. I can get it to go to vibrate mode only by using the hardware keys; setting it in Settings or through a toggle doesn't work, despite the icons showing in the status bar. When on Silent, the phone still vibrates (and sometimes makes sounds still). This is a pain at night, however, since I've gotten Vibrate to work consistently using the volume keys, I put "Do Not Disturb Me" on my phone for night, and that properly silences the phone. The bonus there is I can schedule DND times.
2) I can't save incoming pictures from MMS. In Messaging, I'm not even given the option to, but I use Chat Heads anyway through FB Messenger. When I open an image there, I'm given the option to save it, but I get an error every time that it can't be saved. It's kind of frustrating.
3) Google Photos Sync doesn't work. It's checked in my sync settings, but unlike every other Android device I've owned, online albums don't show in Gallery.
Okay, the picture saving issue is related to Facebook Messenger. I'm seeing the same issue on my LG Optimius G. However, it doesn't look like you can save pictures using the stock Messaging app anyway, so I installed Go SMS Pro to open MMS messages if I need to save photos. I had to turn off it handling SMS and suppressing other apps' notifications, but now I have a workable solution to that until Facebook updates Messenger.
For the record, I've heard from an app developer that there is a firmware issue with many HTC devices that prevents them from switching volume states correctly when the device is playing audio streams like music or podcasts. In my case, this prevents Locale from silencing my phone when I get to work because I'm always listening to podcasts in the morning when I arrive, so the state transition fails, and I have to manually change it after stopping my podcast.

Hmm, I could see that, but it fails even if I'm not doing anything with the phone.
After the OTA, I'm still having the silence bug when using a toggle or WidgetLocker, but I can successfully get it to truly silence using the volume keys. I'll take that, especially since I don't think that's a bug everyone's experiencing anyway. Still not getting online albums in Gallery.
-Can't share files via bluetooth, theoption simply isn't available in the share menu
-All received messages play as slideshows, and not in full screen when clicked on

Textra silent mode?

Anyone use textra? I have noticed I cannot get it to be silent. I have my phone in priority notification mode and messaging isn't set as a priority but Textra still plays the sound. The only way I can silence it is if I go into the app and choose silent as the ring tone which isn't ideal. Is this happening to others?
I still haven't found a texting app that honors priority mode completely... They all seem to make noise if I am reading a text from someone and then get another message from that same person.
That's bother me too.
I've just received an SMS notification during a work meeting at full volume although my phone was set to DND mode.
(BTW you shouldn't have posted in a Nexus 6 section since it's a more global issue (Textra on Android 5 and greater)
**EDIT**
According to Textra changelog it's supposed to be fixed since version 2.25:
"We now honor Lollipop NONE | PRIORITY | ALL notification settings"

Unfortunately this doesn't work for me.
Textra uses its own database setup so it can over ride the default notification settings. Only way I found was to change the app settings.

When I recieve a text message I get the tone I set as well as an additional beeping

The extra beeping is like a door opening sound at a corner store, two quadruple beeps of the same tone played at the same time as the tone I set. I can remove the one I set but not the beeps (unless i silence). It was working fine until I installed some work software to receive work e-mails securely. Can't see how that would mess things up, but even so I should be able to change the beeping tone somehow. I have gone through the settings in the message app (3 dot), notification tone option removes my tone not the beeps same as through settings the normal way. Thanks for the help.
I just got my phone, and I'm having the same issue...
I get the sms notification sound I had set, and I get the additional beeping (to me it sounds like a fire alarm).
I've tried other sms apps (Textra ans Signal) and it's the same issue with them as well.
Have you or anyone else a solution to this?
For anyone having the same issue, I fixed it with a factory reset, and I didn't import any old settings. When I first set up my phone I imported stuff from my google cloud sync, and that might have caused the issue. When I imported my previous settings, it also installed all my old apps, so one of those apps could have caused the issue as well. If I find the culprit of this bug, I will post a followup here for anyone who also might experience it.
i got my p20 pro yesterday and have it update but dont have this problem
I had this issue. I disabled private space and it was solved. It maybe had to do with the private space counterpart of the Messages app getting a duplicate notification for SMS. You could try disabling/silencing it if you don't want to disable private space completely. Hope this helps.

[Q] Anyone figure out how to set custom SMS sound?

I changed my custom SMS sound to the short laser SMS I always use. Under settings, it says that is my notification sound. I'm still getting Skyline from all my contacts unless I go in and manually set each contact to the custom SMS. Workaround for this? Messaging has been the most annoying part of the phone for me.
Disregard, I found it under settings have to set general and new to the custom sound.
