I just upgraded from a Mi 9 SE to a Mi 9. I am confident that the Mi 9 SE had SOS mode built into the OS. However, I don't see the option on the Mi 9. Am I missing something or am I some how delusional in thinking it was there on the SE?

Thanks for the advice but I would rather not use a beta ROM right now. I guess the Mi 9 is not an upgrade from the SE in all aspects. Surprising that the software is behind.

Hello,
do you know any way to install miui 10 beta on MI 8?
I have seen that it can be installed in MI MIX 2/2S , and I find it strange that you can not install in MI 8.

It's the same on any xiaomi device if you can find the rom.
It isnt available for Xiaomi Mi8. There is a MIUI 10 China Developer Rom Closed Alpha Testing. End of this month a open beta should start. (https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/applicable-devices-eligible-for-miui-10.44392/)
Well, I'm looking forward to buy a Xiaomi phone.
I never used a xiaomi phone before, therefore I'm thinking which one to choose? If I buy Mi A2, I'll get stock android ui. But I think if I get a xiaomi phone than why can't I use MiUI? Well, I know that Mi A2 is "Android One" device but is there any way to use MiUI 9/10 in Mi A2? If not now, than will in future?
Yes in the future you will be able to flash the Mi6x rom on your MI A2 if you wanna taste MIUI.
It was the same case with MI 5X/A2 !

Thanks for the info buddy! @marc2800
Are there any news about this developement? I like the hardware-specs but Android One is missing some usefull features, like one-hand-controll and twin-apps (usefull for e.g. whatsapp on a dual-sim smartphone).
Sadly buying a Mi 6X is no option because it doesn't connect to 4G networks in Band 20 (important for Germany).

I was able to flash the mi 6x fastboot rom, the bootloader works fine. The partition system is a little different from stock (android One) so a bit of work needs to be done. besides that, according to the Mi 6x forums they already installed our firmware (Mi A2) on their devices(Mi 6x) with no issues. So it is definitely possible, just a little beyond my area of expertise. If you want to check it out for yourself the link is http://en.miui.com/thread-3439864-1-1.html

If you want MIUI then just buy any other Xiaomi phone that's available in your country. Why even bother getting A2? Just get any other device and flash custom ROM if just want the taste of stock android.
And regarding future development, I don't think any dev will waste their time on it because you already have a official phone with MIUI on it.
It doesn't even make sense to put effort in this cross development. A dev tried porting MIUI for A1 but it sees like the work is till in progress.
It'd be easier to install custom ROM on a MIUI phone than MIUI on stock.
Miui should not be too crazy to get working on our devices. It is just a matter of if enough people/devs want it and have drive to do something about it.

Still no way to transform it to MI A2 with ARB 4?
The question "Freedom" in android does not apply to xiaomi. Hehe .. it's no accident that miui is almost a clone of ios.

Thank you.
Hello, in some days i will buy a Mi 8 because i give my Mi Note 3 on a good friend because her phone was stolen! I have unlocked bootloader on Mi Note 3, twrp, magisk and some mods and i'm using mi-globe rom (based on xiaomi.eu) and i want to unlock and use the same rom again on Mi 8, but i'm scarred about ARB and bricks!
Any help? Thank you!
Unlock your Mi 8 bootloader, download and flash mi globe rom and there should be no bricks!

It's not the performance .
They wanted to make it only exclusively for mi 11 series
