Please stop asking for the best ROM (for battery, for performance or any other criteria), it doesn't exist. If there was one true best ROM, do you think there would be other ROMs?
There is only subjectively best and that's different for everyone. Everyone has different usage patterns and preferences, so when asking for the best, you get the best for them, not the best for you. The only way you'll find the best one for you is by trying them yourself. They're all free, anyway.
Also, keep in mind that the Developers are not competing against each other and they're not trying to win you over or anything. They all have different design goals, they're not trying to be better than one another. They're just trying to be different. Asking for the best is quite disrespectful towards the Developers.

miui ms rom (Malchik-Solnce (Port).
The basis is the assembly from malchik-solnce on Xiaomi Mi 9.
Out of the box there are a lot of additional settings, and as usual trash from Google and xiaomi is cut out. The author of the change does not provide.
Hey, so first of all sorry for making a long post and I might repeat things for which there may be threads so sorry in advance regarding that, so moving on ,I just bought k20 Pro, while miui is awesome , I'm thinking of switching rom, but can't do it rn as I'll be traveling soon and don't want to risk bricking my phone, I'll do it asap after I return (in 1 week) so my questions are:
1) How to unlock bootloader?
2) How to flash recovery ? And which one , I've always used TWRP on earlier device, but some ppl I see here say Orangefox.
3)I know how to flash a ROM, but what is the vendor everyone keeps telling to flash and should that be flashed everytime installing new rom?
4) Do you lose support for hd in prime and Netflix after flashing rom? If yes how to bring it back (if possible ).
5) ROM recommendation! I've used Lineage os on my previous device, so close it would be good, recommend something which is stable and fast , I don't use much customisation, and should be close to stock Android, as less bugs as possible.
6) Anything I need to know about the device? Something which will help me in future.
Note:i I've upgraded to Miui 12 so please try base answers on that version. I have Indian version of phone.
Thank you to the folks reading this and answering!!

Here's a guide to unlocking the bootloader. This is from the official MIUI global forums.
https://c.mi.com/thread-2262302-1-0.html
Stick with TWRP. Get it from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k2...icial-twrp-xiaomi-redmi-t3944363/post79823568 get the latest version. Orange Fox is a good choice of you stick with MIUI or a MIUI based custom ROM. Otherwise TWRP is the better option. Flashing instructions are there. You shouldn't need to flash the vbmeta patcher.
Check out my guide here, read the thread as some of your questions are answered there including a basic overview of vendor and firmware.

If you are used to LOS, then you may as well stick with that. It's as stable as any ROM for this phone.

If you stick with Indian firmware and vendor, you should keep widevine L1.
If you get in a mess, follow this guide from the official MIUI forums to restore the phone with a fastboot ROM.

You will need to view this page in desktop mode, if viewing on a mobile.
You can get the latest MIUI fastboot ROM from here.

Post please. I use latest xiaomi.eu and be happy with it but always looking forward to EVEN BETTER ROMs. GOOD ANSWERS APPRECIATED.
There is none, you have to choose one for yourself. If there is the so called THE BEST ROM, why wouldn't we all use it and abandon any other ROMs?
The best is what you love.
I have always used official European roms. I am happier than most.
TWRP
Official EEA rom
Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt
Magisk
Searching for some days now, and ranting each time I have to use my phone. While I really love the phone itself, I can't get along with it's software.
The .eu ROM is no option. I read it is pretty difficult to make a ROM for it, but does anyone know if there is something in the making? I'd appreciate any kind of information regarding this.
AFAIK there are only Xiaomi EU and MIUImix
Why is there no sign of a custom rom?
Has someone an idea why there is no sign of a custom ROM? I mean the phone is for a longer time on the market, we have a working TWRP and its the top of MI 11 lineup... I would like too see custom ROMs because the original is full of annoying bugs.

Hi guys,
actually, I´m trying to bring my Mi9 back to life with a new battery. Since now, I´m on xiaomi.eu 12.5.6.
In order to keep my Mi9 updated, I tried to figure out, which Custom ROM I´d go for. Criteria are every day use (stability, battery lifetime, smoothness, security updates). Conclusion after reading the threads is that most official 11.0 ROMs do very well (for example crDroid, Havoc, …). Since twrp still doesn´t support encryption, I´d go for 11.0.
Another point is a good cam out of the box (using all lenses and features and compareable to stock quality). Or do I need to install gcam to reach this goal?
Thx in advance for suggestions, I know the question for „best ROM“ is pretty much too simple, but I´d like to get a starting point…
how did you get xiaomi.eu 12.5.6? I saw only chinese
