So those of you who bought it, what are your impressions? Is there anything you don't like about the phone?
Hi, I have the 128GB Tencent version since almost a month.
So far can't be happier with it; great screen, audio, performance, design, software and battery life. They really improved on the OG ROG phone in every aspect.
Google services and all my apps work flawlessly, and although I'm not an avid photographer, the cameras seem decent.
Extra bonus points for a headphone jack and the LED lights (both the small front one and the rear flashy one).
128 GB seems more than enough for my needs and thus far the Chinese ROM hasn't been bothering me at all, after some small tweaks.
In summary, the best phone I've had until now (and I pretty much owned every worthwhile Android flagship every year)
Only issue I have is that the accessories aren't available yet. Other than that, best phone I've ever owned in terms of everything. 128gb version here as well and I just have a portable micros reader I plug into the bottom port for serious emulating.

How about portability(weight, size), jeans pockets fit while sitting, and one handed mode?

It is quite heavy, and not too svelte, but I come from a Huawei Mate 20X which is a lot larger and more cumbersome.
The ergonomics and size are fine, but the weight is noticeable in pockets.

I bought it from the Liaow online shop. Not the cheapest source, but quick and reliable. And they're usually one of the first having stock of just launched Asian smartphones.
How is the brightness in sunlight?
I own the 512gb 12gb CN Version. Quality of the phone feels nice. I like the weight and how it feels in two hands and in one hand via gaming. My only complaint is the brightness. Wish it was a bit brighter.
Just waiting on the twinview dock II then I'm set.

Because of this question I went out to my driveway and decided to test it out myself. This is probably one of the better screens I've seen in direct sunlight. The one thing that's probably making a difference is the fact that I have the dark theme on the phone and it makes it a whole hell of a lot easier to be able to view the screen while I'm typing or doing whatever in my driveway. Full sun, 82 degrees, and I can read this screen perfectly fine without an issue... Sans the fact that I need bifocals in my old ass is not able to read this small ass text as much as he used to be. In short, this is probably one of the best screens I've seen dealing with the ability to display text in direct sunlight.

My first impressions are that I really like the weight, the touch response, speed of everything, and holy crap! The audio is amazing coming from the phone without headphones. I genuinely hope that the modding community does get around this phone. if not, I'll have to get rid of it and get the actual international version so I can get some additional or better band coverage, but for I live in Ohio so far bands 2 and 4 have not been an issue and I think that I saw 1900 show up, but that was just for a moment before one of the other bands picked up. This battery is amazing. there's some tweaks you can make to it within the system settings to allow it to last longer and it provides you some estimated times until it is about to die oh, so that's really nice. I don't want to reach you my cabbage since I already posted some comments in the USA Buyer thread, but feel free to ask me any questions about it if you don't own the phone if you want to know some information about it or off of it.

Any impressions on usage on North American bands? T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, ATT? My contract on Verizon ends tomorrow lol.

Not sure what will show in the images. I went outside, found a flowering plants. 16:9, HDR Enhanced.
...185624=1x
...185715=2x
...155814=5x
...185844=8x
Sorry for the blur. Did my best to set still.
They're set at default resolution... 4k x 2250 I think. Like 4MB each. HDR Enhanced required a little more time for exposure. If you think additional pics or a vid or two would help, lemme know. I'll see what I can do

I left VZW with the intent of getting and using this phone on TMO. If u do this, get to Costco and save youself the $25 SIM crap. They don't charge anything when you switch.
If there's a real world test you want, lemme know and I'll see what I can do.
I'd call you if you want so that you can hear the phone quality yourself. PM me if that's the case.

My mate 20x has way way better camera
Even oppo realme x has way better camera than rog 2
Rest is amazing
I recently bought rog phone 2 from flipkart in India. My device is working fine. But i noticed there is one problem with the phone and it had happened many times that it automatically reset its network.
Like it automatically turns off wifi ,both sim signal for 10 sec and turn it back on again. This happens once or twice in a day at any period of time.
Sometimes network goes blank and i need to restart the device.
Please help me out if anyone finds the solution. Or people having the same problem.

Keep in mind that this camera is capable.
And just port GCam onto the phone like I did, the Night scape images with GCam are almost equal to iPhone 11's Night mode.
It's NOT CRAP.

How does the wired headphone volume and sound quality compares with mate 20x?
Love it! I got mine for $300 shipped brand new, since I had $200 in ebay gift cards! So much bang for the buck!!
Awesome phone
Fast, responsive, the fastest 4G i've every experienced, and that screen! The FPS is also fast too.
I sold my Note 10+ as the ROG2 just kills it in almost every way. Probably the only thing that was better on the Note10+ was the triple camera setup. But TBH, for what I do with photography, its perfectly fine - and there's always Snapseed for minor corrections.

Just wanted some opinions about going to a N6 from a G3. I like to get fast updates and the larger amoled screen is enticing. I previously had a Note 3 and miss the amoled display.
Anyone coming from a G3 have any issues with the Nexus 6.
On Verizon.
my wife currently has a G3 and i feel that the N6 blows it away in every aspect except camera features (pictures can look better with the N6, but the performance is better with the G3 IMO). her G3 now feels tiny in my hands.

I used the g3 for along time its a great device. I bought a nexus 6 from swappa a few days ago. I ordered a nano sim thinking i could activate it on my old htc one max. I took my nano to micro sim adapter and put it in my onemax then i called verizon to activate it, since the max was a verizon device i didnt think there would be a problem, come to find out the rep said that the onemax wasnt compatible with a nano sim so she couldnt activate the sim card. Verizon will not activate a nexus 6! So instead i started filing down the sides of the micro sim being cautious as not to file the metal on the sim. I trimmed it perfect I had my doubts as to whether it would work or not. After I trimmed the micro sim I stuck it into my nexus 6 and turned it on, and bam baby its working.... im having absolutely no problems. Oh the same sim that I filed down also still works in my G3. So if I need to call Verizon I can just switch them out. If you are considering getting a nexus 6 I promise you will like it! Thats it. Hopefully if you get one,you won't have to trim you're sim card, if you do its not hard at all just be cautious.
Check out my bench mark test...that's what I'm talkn bout, that's the nexus 6 that says not verified
I am glad to hear the positive remarks so far. I have cut down sims by hand a couple of times with no problems.
How would you rate the screen? I have not seen one in person. I had the Nexus 4 which I liked but the memory went bad and now I can not write to the memory.
How does the camera work in low light?

Nice bench! My G3 gets 40186 on it. And I thought the G3 was fast when running Lollipop (Liquid Smooth ROM)!
So the N6 comes out on the 26 of this month. Very tempting...
Anyone hear of the next nexus yet. Ran out of numbers now!

I Had a G3 before I got my Nexus6 and I love love love the N6 over my old G3, when I 1st got my G3 I thought it was a huge phone and now it just feels little compared to this Beast!!! The screen looks so much better on the N6 I had them both set up to the same wallpaper and side by side the G3 screen looked so dim and un-colorful, it was an Easy Choice for me to move on, but on the down side the G3 camera is Great compared to the N6 Google camera that was my only issue

The screen size is perfect its not to big or bulky. Also when outdoors you don't have to block the sun light with you're hand like with most devices, I don't have any problems at all seeing my screen outdoors, no glare or squinting. And the dual front facing speakers are awesome, the sound is crisp and the call quality is very clear. Iv only had my N6 for about 3 days and so far its been worth every penny.

I ran a bench mark on my g3 earlier today and only scored 37726. I can't figure out why its reading so slow. Everyone else has scores over 40000....hmm
Spec wise, I'd actually call it a wash.
The G3 has a better screen (LCD means REAL 2560x1440, whereas our AMOLED is only 2560x1440 in the GREEN channel. R and B channels are only 2560x720).
LCD's are also better at accurately reproducing color.
5.5 is a bit more comfortable of a size compared to the full 6", but that is a matter of personal preference.
If you're comparing the 32GB G3 to the 32GB N6, RAM and storage SIZE are the same.
The SoC on the N6 is a lot better. The N6's SD805 has a MUCH wider memory bus. That translates into being a lot faster.
Finally, of course, the G3 has an sdcard slot.
The real advantage of the N6 is the fact that it is supported DIRECTLY by AOSP.

The screen part of ips vs amoled I'll agree with.
The screen size is subjective. After using the phone for a couple weeks you begin to appreciate the size much more. I didn't think I'd like 5.95 but I've gotten used to it and it's best thing to happen.
The one thing you forgot to mention is the fact that the nexus 6 also have dual front facing speakers which is a clear win for the nexus 6 if you do any media consumption. It's a no brainer that if a person consumes media, the nexus 6 is the way to go.
Oh yeah, nexus 6 is supported by qualcomm quick charging 2.0 which charges your battery faster. Another plus to the nexus.
Nexus devices are better in terms of development support as well so if you're into flashing custom roms and kernels, then nexus devices won't disappoint you in that department.

-True however I do kind of like the over saturated colors on amoled screens. Must be my kid side coming out!

-This is probably the biggest factor for me. I Like the G3 but I get tired of dealing with bugs with non-official builds. Not to say the developers are great on the G3 and maybe the bugs will completely disappear on 5.0 roms.
I really want to see the N6 in person I guess. I know it has been a while since Verizon has had a Nexus phone and wonder how the updates are going to work with Verizon. Who would I be getting them from and when? Will it have a locked bootloader?
I think I have to see what happens with it when people start getting them from Verizon.

I wouldn't really call that a big benefit. G3 does quick charge 1. The 2.0 difference really only operates VERY briefly when the battery level is EXTREMELY low. It also promises reduced battery lifespan. Given the size of the battery on the thing and the fact that most people need around 7 hours of sleep every night, slow charge really is the best thing.

How does having two speakers "suck?"
When HTC launched the One series with dual front facing speakers, that pretty much set up the meta. From this point onward, phones shouldn't even be releasing speakers that aren't on the front. Having one speaker to the top/bottom or left/right is pretty much the new meta.
It is a big benefit, if you're in need of a "quick charge." For example, you come home from work/school and only have 15-20 minutes to get changed and whatever before you have to head out again. If you have Quick Charge 2.0 then your phone will get massive amounts of battery life in that time period when compared to a device using Quick Charge 1.0. And I personally don't charge my phone over night, I leave it on the charger and when it's done charging i unplug it and then get ready to go to sleep. Nevertheless, qualcomm quick charge 2.0 is more futureproof over quick charge 1.0 and is far superior technology.
Not really you just broadly said its supported by AOSP. A device being supported by AOSP doesn't essentially mean you'll have great developer support in the long-run. Take a look at the Nexus tablet devices (e.g. Nexus 7 2013) not much traffic is made in those forums.

I didn't say that the speaker COUNT sucks, I said that the speaker QUALITY sucks.
1 crap speaker: crap sound.
2 crap speakers: stereo crap sound.
There's only so much you can do, when you build a speaker in the space of a pencil eraser. If you want good sound, you still need headphones.

The "technology" is the same. Its just a higher voltage. But like I mentioned, the battery has to be VERY low for the 12v to kick in, and then it only kicks in VERY BRIEFLY, then falls back to 9v.
If you are just getting home from work/school for a few moments, your battery will still be 60% or higher. IT WILL NOT SUPPLY 12 VOLTS!!!! To get that, it has to be nearly shutting off from being dead.

"those forums" Just what "forums" are you talking about? XDA? And what "developers" are you talking about? The developers *I* am referring to are those who WORK FOR GOOGLE.
I.e., you DO NOT NEED kiddy developers like cyanogenmod to build AOSP for a device that is DIRECTLY SUPPORTED BY GOOGLE. You just need to follow the instructions: https://source.android.com/source/building-devices.html ** look: they've got build instructions all the way back to Nexus S. Google THEMSELVES provide full system builds as far back as Nexus 7/2012 <-- TWENTY-TWELVE.

Well 2 speakers on the front is usually better then one on the back. At least it is stereo sound and facing the correct direction.
The good thing about aosp support is less bugs. Still waiting for some rather annoying bugs to be fixed on the G3.

Didn't think I was going to be happy with ANY phone after losing my first true love, the Note 7. All joking aside, this is one of the better phones currently available today! Once you disable bloat and that God forbidden "Lookout" app that is the WORST app that a company could pre-install on any phone...
I'm impressed with Android 7.0 and the LG V20 hardware. I'm coming from a Note 4, and so far, I like it. I've been riding stock. No Nova Launcher, yet.
I love it too. I'm on day two coming from a GS7 Edge that I just gave to my wife. AT&T had a great deal on a LG 10.1 G-Pad to go along with this phone so my wife got the pad and the edge. We're both extremely happy.
I should also mention that I'm a loyal Note user from the original days. The GS7 Edge was my first foray back into a regular phone.

Note 3
Note 4 (just sold back to AT&T)

Switched to this phone after Note 7.
I haven't found anything that I don't like about this phone yet. It is a great phone that helped me forget the Note 7. It is the best smartphone available at this time, period!

After using this phone I went back to my Note 7. I'll take my chances. Don't get me wrong, the LGv20 is not a bad phone, it just doesn't do anything exceptionally well. The screen is meh, the fingerprint scanner is annoying as all you have to do is touch it and it unlocks, i'd rather have the lgv10 fingerprint implementation. And the quad dac is less obvious than the lgv10. In other words the Dac on the v10 was better as in loudness. I don;t know if its nougat or the v20 but when I use the built in gmail app and I delete an email I get the option to undelete but it doesnt actually undelete. And one you go SAMOLED all screens look like ass in comparison.
Best phone on the market as of November 2016.
I just bought mine yesterday. I've been using Galaxy S5s for a year and a half waiting for someone to come out with a new phone with swappable batteries and MicroSD. The S5 is much loved by me. I'm going to miss the wallet cover which positively shut off the screen on the S5 and the V20 is a little larger than I like, but I do like the fingerprint scanner which works a lot better than the last I used, which was a Note 4.

In Israel we get with the V20:
1. LG 360 Cam.
2. VR headset.
3. 16GB Sandisk type 10 sd card.
4. A second original battery.
Pretty neat.
I love this phone! It's the first phone that I didn't had mixed feelings about and I've had just about every flagship from Sammy n LG.

Dam! Nice!
I love my V20, I am so happy with it, the performance, battery life, build quality, appearance, all of it! <3 This device!
I got it this past Monday 11/14, and it has been an absolute joy.
It has also made work related tasks much easier and my signal throughout the Denver metro area has been fantastic, much better than my S6 or my iPhone 6S Plus.
Full bars in data centers where the other devices had one or two.
I traded in my phone and sent my company issued phone back after two days owning the V20.
It is that good.
I previously had an LG G4 for about a year before switching to a Huawei Mate 8 for about 3 months until I received my V20 H990DS this Friday, 18 November. So far I'm really happy. The phone has excellent build quality for a phone that has a removable battery. It's thin and light albeit slightly tall.
I love the QHD screen, it may not be AMOLED but it is an excellent LCD panel with vibrant colors and it really looks great. I do have slight light bleed from the second screen but it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I'll accept that to have the extra screen and I really hope LG keeps this feature in future versions of the V series. Though I do agree that LG should move to AMOLED for the next version in the V series lineup.
I've enabled the app drawer and have found the LG skin to be a pleasant experience with its customization options and themes. Certainly a step up from the G4. The phone is really fast and the audio is absolutely amazing.
I love having true dual sim with a memory card slot. Signal quality on wifi and LTE is excellent.
As for the camera's, I haven't spent much time testing them out yet but so far the image quality looks great and the wide angle lens is awesome despite the lower resolution.
So, I'm still experiencing the phone and testing out the various features but overall I really think LG did a great job with the V20 and I'm very happy with it so far.
What else would I have liked? Wireless charging, AMOLED displays, higher resolution wide angle rear camera and front facing camera. Unlocked bootloader.
Thanks LG. Happy customer here! (so far)
Had the phone now for about 2 weeks. Coming from a Samsung ATIV SE Windows phone with Win10 Mobile.
So far I like the build quality of the phone. Feels solid, glad it is not super thin like some of the new phones. Hate that, do designers think people are a bunch of wimps that can't hold anything over a 5mm thick?
The screen is good. I am not one that really cares what type of screen I have, whether its OLED or LCD. As long as I can read it, I am good with it.
Guess my biggest disappointment is with the OS. I have been away from Android on a phone, though I have three Android tablets, plus an Ipad for work and a 8" Windows tablet for tinkering.
I am NOT IMPRESSED with Android 7.0. The camera app on the V20 is good, but the processing software makes for some rather crummy pictures, either in auto or manual mode. Too much noise if you barely zoom in. Not real impressed right now after spending a couple days trying to get good with the camera.
As far as Android in general, there is too much fragmentation, almost too many apps trying to do the same function, while all of them doing it rather poorly. I don't need 5 different file managers, I just need one that does what I want it to do. Same with web browsers. How many do you really need?
Guess I am just used to using my phone as a phone first, work tool second. I don't have all the gee whiz apps like Instagram, Snapchat, and all that garbage. I use my phone for specific functions and I want apps that do it right the first time.
Hopefully by the time my contract is up on this phone, Verizon will be off CDMA and fully switched to their version of GSM. Then maybe some phone makers will start making Windows phones for their network again. Going to be a long 2 years for me. May just sell this V20, and go back to my ATIV SE for the duration. Not impressed with Android right now.

Actually I have disabled everything from VZW except their Messaging app.
Guess you didn't follow what I was saying. Too much fragmentation in Android, period. Minimal quality controls. Instead of one or two really good apps to do a specific function, you have 15 or 20 that are at best mediocre apps.
I blame the majority of that on having Java as the main app language for Android. Any 12 year old can write code for Java, doesn't mean it is clean, concise, efficient code. Same with apps. Just because it was easily written, doesn't mean it is a good app.
Are there bad examples of other type of code? Of course, but Java seems to be the most prevalent from what I have seen.
Also the few apps that I have on Android now that I had on my Windows phone, mainly the Office and MS related ones, are not that great actually. I don't expect MS to make them as good for Android, but even then, at least make them useable.
Hey guys, I'm just here for some recommendations. I'm a power user. I'm the type of guy to be playing a heavy game and to switch to snapchat or any other social media app and switch back into the game and continue where I was. I'm the type of guy to root and install xPosed modules on every single android phone I own since I love having limitless customization. While I love customization and multitasking and all, I still would greatly appreciate a great camera (front and back) and a premium looking and feeling phone. Which phone would you recommend for me? Also on a side note, How is snapchat on the OP3T? (since I'm a heavy snapper)
Camera is awful. Everything else is great. Don't waste your time or you will be extremely disappointed in this camera in every possible way. I got lucky I don't care about the camera.

Is it really that bad??
If your into camera/pics then s7edge and its really not worth the discussion.
Everything else, the 3T is the better option, especially software, battery life, speed/fluidity.
The s7edge screen is a tad better impression though.

no, but it is much worse than on S7 Edge or iP7+
If you can live with 1080p screen less vibrant screen, pretty standard below par camera and limited storage then OnePlus 3t otherwise it's S7E.
I've got both and I prefer S7E.
Apart from the cam, it's very easy for "you kind"...
If you unlock and root any sammy device your warranty is void. Oneplus has quite an other warranty policy:
https://oneplus.net/support/answer/will-rooting-or-unlocking-the-bootloader-void-my-warranty
If you want to develop/build roms the deccission becomes even easier: oneplus and qcom do support the open source community much better then samsung does. The latter even try to sabotate open source development, by puplishing broken and not working code.
For me (and "guys like me" ) these are the two main reasons to go for oneplus and never ever buy a samsung device again - but along with your personal usecase your milage may vary.
If u can afford S7 edge then BUY IT!!!! Seriously, OP3T is good but S7E is much much better. I know a lot of people will say it lacks performance but in every other factor its the king(other than pixel and iPhone 7/plus).
i returned S7E and got OP3T and it is far better, even in handling in 1 hand for me. Camera is awful on OP3T for sure, and much worse than s7e unfortunatelly, but i do not care much about this
My 2 cents - My choice for new phone (after my N6P died) was OP3T, SGS7 or Pixel.
A little reading showed Dev after Dev stating that Samsung fails to support the community by withholding what should be quick release of open source files.
Oneplus is the opposite so far. They are very supportive of aftermarket modification and I can say my initial impression of build quality is very good.
I'm not a good person to judge the cameras as I only use my cell phones for quick snapshots.
The only deficit I saw was the absence of a memory card slot on the OP3T. However, they only charged about $40 Canadian more for the 128 GB model.

If camera is the most important thing to you, then go for Samsung. If root, speed/power, and multitasking is more important to you, then go for the OP3T. I take many pictures on my 3T and I'm impressed with the quality. It's very good, but it can't compare at all to the S7E. It's really good, but not nearly as good as Samsung's cameras. Everything else on the 3T is better than the S7E to me. The screen isn't as high of quality, but that also allows for longer battery life and better performance. I think the build quality is fairly comparable on both devices. They're just different. The OP3T is probably a little more durable than the S7E simply because it has less glass in its build. So in short, whatever is not as good on the OP3T is still rather good... Just not AS good as the S7E.
I don't have an S7 edge, but I do have an S7 and honestly I'm quite disappointed with it myself. Based on my experience with my S7 and from what I have read from other users here is what I can conclude.
S7 - Pro's
Camera
physical size is a little smaller so it's easier to hold
Display resolution might b a little better
OnePlus 3T - Pros
Performance - speed
multitasking
opening apps
bootloader can easily be unlocked
this phone is user friendly in terms of modding/customizing it (especially in comparison to the S7)
It's VERY reasonable in price compared to many other phones. Especially for the hardware it has packed in it.
Conclusion...
You have to ask yourself if you use your phone more for pictures and video versus anything else.
For me personally, I enjoy taking pics, but the S7 is sooo laggy! Touchwiz is HORRIBLE compared to OxygenOS.
Also a HUGE turn off on the S7 for me was all the bloatware that's installed on the phone. I have about 330 apps on there, and you can disable them but you will need to be rooted to uninstall them.
OnePlus 3t from what I'm reading doesn't come with many unwanted apps, and if you want you can easily disable uninstall them.
Side note, I have heard users say that the older version of OxygenOS was a little laggy as well, but this has been fixed in the newest update 4.0+
When it comes down to it, for regular use of a phone, I would go with the OnePlus 3t. I am currently considering in getting one for myself because I have run into so many issues with the S7.

I just noticed that the OnePlus 3t also comes with a pre-applied screen protector. That's pretty cool too! Usually this is a additional accessory on phones. Can anyone that already owns the phone tell if the screen protector is good? How does it compare to invisi-shield or similar?

Hmm, mine was delivered without additional screen protector. But what comes to my mind: when I got my opo 2 1/2 years ago, it was delivered without sp, too. But when a friend of mine ordered a one just a few days after two was announced, it comes with pre-appliwd sp. Back then we thought it was a refurbished device, since the production of one was stoped, when the two was introduced. After reading your post, I doubt the assumption we made back then - but I wonder, why some oneplus devices are sp equiped, while others are not...!?!? Really strange.
BTW: my model is A3003.

You are right. And I was overmotivated: Mine was delivered with(!) screen protector, but it was really loose around the home-button/fp-sensor, that I thought it was just the normal transport protection and removed it... *lol* Just tried to reapply it, but it has no hold in the lower area, in deed the two small parts at each side of the home button are flapping loosly (like it was at the beginning making me think it's only for transport). Anyway - I don't care about pre-applied screen protection, and your and my finding gave me a good laugh!
That's funny!
I'll be sure I don't make the same mistake when I get my phone.
My choise was S7e, more confident in samsung devices, but this is only my opinion

I just got my black HTC U Ultra and I am loving it so far. Of course I am still in the honeymoon phase with the ultra, so here are my first thoughts:
This is a great phone for people that like phablets and don't want to use phones with different aspect ratios, like the S8 and the LG G6.
The display is amazing and I prefer it to AMOLED displays. The camera is better than the one found in the HTC 10 and the second display is very useful to me. I love how notifications appear in the second display.
Audio quality is excellent and battery life is very good, despite the relatively small battery installed.
The design is great and the black model doesn't show any fingerprints.
The only thing I don't like is that the bottom speaker on the left side is. I would prefer to have it on the bottom right.
Overall I am happy with the Ultra and I don't understand the bad reviews. This device deserves more.
Hi all,
I had my M8 for a little over 3 years and loved it but decided I wanted a new phone and at first was drawn to the Pixel XL but there was something that just didn't feel right about it to me really not sure what it was but it was there. Also I really don't like AMOLED screens despite what the majority seem to feel so that was another thing that drew me to the U Ultra. I manged to get an awesome deal on a 2 day old Black U Ultra although I think I would of still got one even if I had to pay full price to me HTC just build awesome phones and this one doesn't disappoint on build quality either. The screen really is just beautiful and no sign of light bleeding anywhere and I use mine of full brightness nearly all of the time and with very dark based wallpapers to. I am finding the 2nd display to be really useful and a good addition and also don't get all the negative reviews and general hate that so many are giving for this phone. I chose this over any of the other so called flagship phones and have no regrets at all and seriously don't get all the fuss made about only having a Snapdragon 821 as I really think the differences between it and the 835 are going to be so slight as not to not really be worth worrying about. Same goes for the battery size non issue IMO as I'm sure everyone would be complaining about how much heavier the phone would be with a larger battery and the fact it has fast charging sort of negates this issue to IMO plus it easily lasts me a day anyway.

I was going to leave a review.. but youve said everything I wanted too.. so.. Yes its awesome and why the hate is beyond me, but you know... strange how everyone bashes the U Ultra for its so-called waste of space... yet funny how no-one bashes the ugly looking Google Pixel / Pixel XL for its huge frame and big "wasted" bezel chins .. or the iPhone for their chins / bezels, sounds childish doesnt it......... thats because it is, but its the fashion
My only complaint is, no not the USB headphones, but that, at this price, HTC didnt include a £1 ( $2 ) USB-C - 3.5 mm adaptor in the box.
Im afraid, at the moment.. HTC and the U Ultra are "in Vogue" to hate on and bash, but no doubt, it'll be Huaweis turn next year
I do love my U Ultra
After 2 months of use, i can say this is one of the best smartphone this year. Im changing phones like socks, the last one was oneplus 3t,and i can say htc u beats him in all parameters. The battery life is better than oneplus 3450 ma battery, the camera at the top only i iPhone 7s beats him(and i had it to) sense is the best android launcher and os ever, the only bad thing is the down bottoms that are to close to the edge and it is hard to get used to it. Overall 9/10 points to htc u ultra!
Sent from my HTC U Ultra using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Greetings everyone.
I thought I'd share my $.02 with you regarding the Ultra. This past year I've owned a 1+2, a Nexus 6, a 1+3T and now this. I honestly don't get the negative reviews. It's super fast, the built quality is great, the screen is awesome, the battery lasts a day (or about 4,5 sot) which is the same as the 1+3T used to. The second screen is quite useful and I don't give a rat's ass if it was originally seen on an LG. The sound is very good although it could do with stereo speakers while IMHO the Sense UI is light years ahead that of Samsung or LG.
I also bought it for 400 euros which is a bargain considering 1+3Ts are going over here for 470 brand new even at this moment.
My only complaint is that you can't charge and use the headphones at the same time, but what the heck. I'd also like to see more custom ROMs for this great device.
Anyone having second thoughts or being troubled by reviews, don't be mistaken: the U ultra is one hell of a phablet with certain features you won't find elsewhere. Just look for the right price.
I kinda love mine as well. I've never had a HTC before but I am pretty sure this wont be the last one
Hi people
thank you all , your comments was useful , i have question
which is better ? HTC u ultra , j7 pro , mi a1
NO
Hallo people. I have now Htc u ultra 128GB and i wanna share you pros and cons.
pros:
build quality (without cases)
speakers
cameras
screen colors
speed
fast charge time (15%-100% 1h:30m)
no heating
high Memory storage
cons:
it is so big
battery life is weak for me
htc has no my own Georgian language (but in 8.0 update they say will be)
it is little heavy
i had early time Oneplus 3T and battery life was just amazing. htc u ultra 3000 mAh is so bad if you are a gamer, or using 4G, or often taking pictures and videos. should be 3500 mAh. i am everyday charging my phone. but Oneplus 3T has metal body and it was heating so much, then was lagg

I'm quite impressed by the quality of the sound through the supplied headphones. Granted, they aren't studio monitors or $300 Sennheiser's, but if you run the app to tune the sound to your ears, they are pretty good. I haven't tried them at full volume, but just to the limit where Android gives you the pop up about loud music. All in all, 4/5.

I've only had my U Ultra for just over a day, and I'm quite impressed with it. This isn't my first HTC (first was the Amaze 4G), and aside from the disappointing m8 that I had, HTC keeps making underrated flagships. I'm surprised how little fanfare this phone has gotten, despite having the best camera I've used in a smartphone (even using an iPhone 6S for a time). When Oreo does come to us, then this should be an even better phone!

Yes, so far. I've just played around in the settings, and haven't really taken any pics, aside from just playing around. In the next few days, I plan on putting the camera through some rigorous tests. I'm kind of eager to see how shooting in RAW on a phone is...
I was ready to jump ship from my note 9 and after a lot of thought felt I could regret it. Just my opinion but just wanted to list some of the short comings for people that are getting sucked into the hype of this new product that could help prevent buyers remorse. For others these things may not matter. But seeing that this broke 1000 dollar mark in Canada, im going to get a little more critical.
No 5g
No WiFi 6 <---this was the deal breaker for me
heavy
short battery life especially with 90Hz <-----another deal breaker.
Plastic components on the front pop up camera
19:9 aspect ratio cropping full screen videos more than 18:5:9
no wireless charging
Corners of screen overly rounded in my opinion. I like the curved screen though
Wide angle camera-many reviewers saying it was if it was just an after thought
Added - no ad card slot, no ip67 certification, no head phone jack
Just added
If somebody could confirm but no wiFi calling or volte on freedom mobile in Canada.
Pros
Would still purchase this over any phone that has a notch or camera cut out on display
price
90Hz display but no point if it kills battery
That being said I have a feeling some of these short comings will be addressed with a Pro 7T/5G or next years model.
New->I re-ordered and received the pro 7 12gb a couple of days ago. Shipping was unbelievably fast. I ordered it Friday and got it Monday.
NEW-------My review page 16
The purpose of this thread is not to present a one sided bashing of the 7 pro but to stir up conversation about it's pros and cons. The scale tips either way. After reading some replies, I felt pusuaded to re order it hence above.

I ended up ordering the nebula blue 256 gb but I agree with wht u said bruh. Missing some flagship strength.
>No 5g
The hardware to implement 5G is still too expensive and cumbersome to a cellphone's design. Unless you live in a major US city, you're probably not going to see 5G before it's ready to replace your phone anyways
>No WiFi 6
Again, early technology with very low adoption rates thus far. 802.11ax requires more antennas, so more than likely also running into phone design problems
>heavy
A legit complaint, but I rather have it be heavier using metal and glass, than lighter and use plastic
>short battery life especially with 90Hz <-----another deal breaker.
I've only seen 1 reviewer get as low as 4 hours of SOT. Everyone else seems to be getting 7-8 hours of SOT even with the 90Hz refresh rate
>Plastic components on the front pop up camera
Heavier metal components would just put more wear on the motor. It'll be inside the phone 99% of the time, and it retracts if it detects the phone is in freefall, so I don't see a big issue with its durability
>19:9 aspect ratio cropping full screen videos more than 18:5:9
Legit complaint. I see the aspect ratio as benefiting readers more than movie watchers, so it's a personal preference.
>no wireless charging
Qi charging has invited bad practices to take hold. You get longer battery shelf life if you run down the battery before charging vs. it charging all the time, and everyone knows that people do with Qi charging. Heat is the enemy of any battery
>Corners of screen overly rounded in my opinion. I like the curved screen though
Personal preference.
>Wide angle camera-many reviewers saying it was if it was just an after thought
Not a huge picture-taking guy, so I'll take your word for it
Well what can i say... Coming from samsung
It's extremely big - too big for me - and has a gross, Galaxy S7 style curved screen. Other than that, it's fine. No wireless charging and no IP rating are also bad, but less severe as far as issues go.
My only complaint is lack of SD card and weak battery life with 90hx. Still ordered ?
I don't know if I will buy it or not, but the major flaws for me are:
No AOD
No IP67 certification (not because of water, but because of dust - might be no problem but who knows)
Battery life (really fast at charging on the other hand, so not really important to me)
Camera right now is much worse than the P30 pro for the same price, might get better with gcam etc.
Well and all of these are better on the P30 pro. But that has the biggest of all flaws:
Locked Bootloader, no root, no bootloader unlock codes from Huawei.
A P30 pro with an SD855 and an unlocked bootloader would be perfect for me.

They've already made the 7 Pro 5G in cooperation with EE in UK (who expect to have rolled out the technology by the end of this year) and Elisa in Finland (who've already started setup of its 5G network but won't be available to customers until next year)
No word on pricing for the 7 Pro 5G, though.
For me this dumb of price, what a flagship killer.
1st.. 5G isn't even a thing yet and won't be for almost 2 years. The 5G they are pushing is a compression algorithm on top of 4G backbone. Unless you're planning to keep this phone more then 2 years, worrying about 5G is pointless. They are herding you like sheep.
2nd... IP Rating means nothing. If water damaged the phone they still don't fix it. I'd rather what OnePlus is doing and do their own waterproofing and save the money on the IP certification.
3rd... AOD. You know these are AMOLED panels right? They get burn in... No thanks personally. I turned it on on my OP6 ABUT I don't even use it. This is really just personal choice.
4th... Battery. Only 1 review I saw said 4 hours of SOT MKBHD but he had like 5 or 6 social media accounts going at once... Not a true indicator. I've seen more then a couple say they're getting 5-8 hours SOT. I'll wait to judge for myself but think it will be just fine.
And last... Wireless charging. Why does anyone care when it's slow as hell? Warp charging is so so fast wireless is really pointless, unless you have a damaged USB-C port
I'd rather save $300-$500 and have the screen, speed, storage, storage speed (UFS 3.0), the fastest charging then the IP Rating, wireless charging, 5G that you can't use right now

Agree 100%. Had everything I need and missing nothing I need.

Holy hell, my phone just shipped. I placed the order at 10:03 this morning
For me there is not much that I miss. The headphone jack maybe but I use 95 % of the time bluetooth headphones already now. its big yes, 6 inches would be probably enough but I think I can live also with the current display. Qi charging maybe a bit, but just because I would like to try it because I never had a phone which was capable of it. But with the fast charge of oneplus it is a bit useless. I would rather leave my phone 20 plug to the fast charger than 1 hour on a pad

Actually its not. This could answer questions people may have about this new device in one nice summary. There has been confusion if it came with 5g and WiFi 6 since the snapdragon 855 is supposed to support it, for example.. This helps them make a more informed decision. That being said if I had to buy a phone today it would still be this one.

Hm.
I got an order confirmation at 10:02 a.m. but no shipping yet!
Which version did you get? I got the Nebula 256/8.
I'm surprised there's no waiting room thread yet haha

No it doesn't. It ALLOWS for more antennas (up to 8 instead of up to 4). Even the Intel AX200 adapter for laptops is still using just 2 which are tuned to the same bands that have been used in Wi-Fi since 802.11a and 802.11b. 802.11ax still supports single antenna even.

I got the 12/256gb :victory:
The biggest turn off for me is the curved screen, otherwise it's the best phone of the year so far. Tired of everyone copying Samsung and Apple design gimmicks. Give me top hardware, comfortable and straightforward design, no gimmicks.
Yeah there are two posts already talking about all the whining about battery drain and wireless charging.
paying less for a good quality phone is a big plus
It's crazy that there were reviews on this and everyone complaining like they were shocked about this.
OP, please correct the misspelling in the title.
