USB C to HDMI, protected video content only plays in the daytime - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

This is driving me nuts! I have a Cablematters USB C to HDMI adapter with PD. It works great as a Dex dock. Lately while traveling, I was using it to watch Netflix in the hotel room. It works just fine. However, in the evening it doesn't work. The video (Netflix, Amazon, Google Play Movies) plays on the phone screen and the controls, subtitles, and audio play on the TV, but the image on the TV is blank. No combination of unplugging or restarting will make it work. Then I try again in the morning and it works fine.
I was thinking it might be the blue light filter or night mode settings, since those are the only things that change automatically in the evening, but I get the same problem even with those turned off. I have also replicated the exact same issue with three different TVs. Everything works fine in the daytime, but at night any protected content goes blank on the TV with just audio. YouTube and Plex have no problems. I am guessing that something is breaking the HDCP at night, but I can't figure out what. Any ideas?

HD Dock no video issue

So I picked up one of the HD docks from Amazon. I am using it at work and when trying to play Netflix I get no video on the screen. I hear the audio just fine but for the life of me I can not get the video to play.
If I undock it and go back in to netflix it plays just fine. Any thoughts?
the dock is not connected to any monitors or tv, just trying to get video to play on the phone while I am at my desk. Also doing the same thing with Hulu. So I am assuming there is some setting maybe?
try disabling the hdmi setting under system settings/display/HDMI Settings.

Chromecast extension No sound

So basically i got the chromecast, i set it up and everything works fine. The next day while using the chrome extension the sound stops out of nowhere(it worked perfectly the day before). Its not able to send sound via the extension when casting a tab to the TV. I reseted chromecast twice, tried different hdmi, different tv nothing. Any suggestions what it might be ?
Youtube and netflix works fine, its just when casting a tab that i am not getting sound. And yes audio mode is on.
Also wanted to add that i am not getting sound when opening an .mp4 video with chrome and casting it
Got the same problem.... The weird thing is that on my laptop the sound keeps going on the laptop, but no sound on the tv... On my gamer LAN pc there is not sound at all when casting a tab.. Youtube works fine on both machines...
Please update the post if you find a solution..

[Q]MHL hdmi issue (black screen when playing videos)!

Hi there!
I was wondering if anyone has any idea why my phone wont play videos or sound through mhl hdmi on tv?
Menus and pictures works fine, but when I try to play a video it plays it on phone but TV screen just turns dark, and hdml connection doesn't work any more until I reconnect the usb again.
I have; Xperia T running cyanogenMod 10.2.0-mint (4.3.1 android).
(so far I tried playing music, opening any videos with default player and mx player, on all those hdmi connection hangs. (black screen on tv but keeps on playing on phone).
Any help ideas would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] little bit garbled and lower pitched sound

Hi all,
Yesterday I bought my chromecast and I've set it up without problems, but I noticed the sound played through the chromecast is just a little bit garbled and worst of all, it's pitched like a semi-half tone down. For movies and youtube this'll won't be a problem, but I play the guitar and when music is played, it's horribly out of tune.
I couldn't find anything on the internet as a solution. Does anyone encounter the same problem?
Setup:
Nexus 5 with cm11, android 4.4.4
Stock chromecast
1080p HDTV

Sounds like a dolby incompatibility....
Does the source have a dolby track and does this happen with a stereo content item?

Its with all content; whether its youtube, or casting my whole android screen, google music, I even tried it casting a youtube tab from chrome on my notebook. All same results.. Lower pitched sound and a little bit chopped.
But I sure do wanna try out everything. How can I find out wheter there is a dolby track?

If it is happening on everything then it is unlikely what I suspected it was...Especially if it happens on You Tube as well...
It could be a bad HDMI network connection between the CCast and the TV....
So try this....
1 - Try another input on the TV
2 - Try the CCast on a different TV and see if it still happens
If #1 solves it then it's that one TV Input, You can check the audio setting for that input but the CCast should communicate all of that and send the proper signal. (try re-plugging into the original input and see if the problem goes away)
If #2 has the same problem then it's a lemon CCast and you might need a replacement.

In a clear moment #1 has already come to mind, so tried another hdmi input, same results.. I don't have another hdmi tv before wednesday.. Will try it then and will post my results..
I just tried my chromecast on another tv and it worked normally, so it was my hdtv.
I checked the internet and there was an update. Updated and my chromecast works perfectly now!
Thanks for the input!

Black Screen just audio. Hdmi to TV. Google Movies

Hello
I a non-rooted p20 Pro.
Just to the lack of broadband where I currently am (two weeks until an engineer turns up). I have downloaded a purchased TV series in to my phone at work via Google Movies. I have a USB to Hdmi adapter. I can see my phone screen on the TV. But when I load I start a purchased video in Google movies or via YouTube. I only get a black screen and audio. If I play a random YouTube video that works perfectly. So it has to has to do with the purchase protection but how do I get to stop? Thank you.
