My Nexus 6 is compeletely stock and untouched software. I have attached screenshots from Nexus 6 (5.0.1) and Note 3 (5.0) to show the point I'm talking about.
When I'm sleeping as you can see on the Note 3 it has very few awakes. But Nexus 6 on the other hand is almost always awake. It drains about 20-25% battery overnight.
I have performed factory reset 3 times and now it has almost no additional apps installed but still the same. (don't judge by the facebook on the screenshot it's just installed and the problem is the same with or without it) I'm not rooted so i can't use the wakelock detector. I've installed GSam and it shows Android OS and Android system as biggest drainers for the current situation (16%, 6%) which i suspect nothing extraordinary.
I have play services 6.7.76 on both devices if it has anything to do with it. I tried something like turning the ambient display off and some other settings to see if theyre waking it but no luck yet. Do you think it is a software thing and Google will eventually fix it and I should wait or what should i do?
I really want to keep this phone but the battery is a big concern for me right now. every morning seeing the battery down without touching the phone is a big problem. Any help and information on the subject is appreciated.
Edit: I have added a screenshot from safe mode. I restarted in safe mode to see if any 3rd party is the cause of the problem. But the problem persists. And I have noticed that when the wifi is compeletely off (Keep awake, Always scanning etc.) the problem is solved. But whenever i turn on the wifi, even when it is not connected to any network, it starts draining battery and keeping phone awake like on the graphics. Can anyone give me a hint if this can be a hardware related issue with the wifi receiver? Or it looks like a software issue and can be solved with the 5.1 update? I have 3 days to return the phone if its a hardware thing. Thanks
You should probably update to 5.1 and see if that helps.

Do you know if it is a common issue and 5.1 fixes it? I've checked the updates but nothing showed up so far. I'm close to 14 day window for my T-Mobile purchase so i need info on 5.1 about this issue and i didn't see anything related :/

You might have the sensor ind bug that was in 5.01 that kept the phone from sleeping properly. From my short experience with 5.1, it's gone. Hard to tell about your situation without screenshots from better battery stats and the app list.

Thank you for the info. Root is not an option on the Nexus 6 cause my sister will be using it and she's not a techie. Without root I can't properly see what keeps it awake :/ As i said, besides the screen, biggest consumers are the Android OS and Android system in Battery settings list. But they're similiar on the Note 3 too so i dont think i can get somewhere with them.
I guess i will have to wait for 5.1 and hope it is fixed as you've said. Do you know what sensor is causing the sensor ind error? Does it have anything with the Ambient display?

Do you use Microsoft Exchange services?
I mean, did you setup other e-mail accounts. Like- Outlook, hotmail .etc??
Because last time I found, that service kept my phone to always wake up..

Oh yeah it has a hotmail account set up besides gmail. I will remove the hotmail account and restart the phone at night and observe in the morning again. Thanks for the suggestion!
If it is the problem, how did you overcome the issue? Are you using browser for your exchange mail account? If so, it will be a pain not getting mails to the app :/
Made some edits on the original post. If it helps..
Hello fellow note 9 owners....
I'm facing an issue when I close whatsapp and lock the screen I don't get notifications that I have new messages nor do they get delivered to me unless I open WhatsApp. I think I tried everything to fix it.... Here's what I tried
I put WhatsApp in the unmonitored app list in the battery settings, I'm in performance mode, I cleared cache, I uninstalled WhatsApp, reinstalled it fresh not from a restore. Is there anything else I should do to fix this?
Mine is okay so far (exynos) however, when I am connected to whatsapp web (on my computer, on the same wifi network with my note 9) , it'll lose connection to the phone at random intervals. I'd have to unlock the phone, launch whatsapp for whatsapp web to be connected once again.

I tried still the same problem
Got the same problem with both Whatsapp and Viber, and often with fb messenger.
It seems that I cannot fix it since I tried literally everything and yet, on my friend's note 9, everything is working flawless.

Have you put the app to sleep?
Same issue but for nearly all apps which require the internet for a notification. Only get the issue on mobile data, when connected to wi-fi all are instant.

Make sure you turn this off.
I also have the same problem i have tried a lot of solution but none works.
Changed Rom several times, using PNF-root to change heartbeat interval, uninstalled Universal GMS Doze, setting whatsapp as not optimized, deleted whatsapp and data.
Nothing just nothing have helped, im currently on syberia Rom xiaomi Mi5.
But i dont think its Rom related because i had the same problem on Xiaomi.eu ROM and other Roms
Thks for this tip as I was struggling to find the culprit despite knowing this was rhe issue I had it on by mistake.
This settings now are more buried on pie so forgotten this one.
EDIT: STILL HAVING THE ISSUE

Funny that menu wasn't available via device care app. My WhatsApp and telegram are optimized blue bar enabled and I dont get issues with notifications .

Actually I thought it was solved by turning off the battery optimization (which it was on by mistake) and thought it was solved but tonight had again the same issue.
In the morning received only the notifications/messages after opening whatsapp.
I'm not sure if this options below might not also be part of the issue (despite not making sense but who knows...)
This might be a problem for people running Android Pie and One Ui on their Note 9s. I don't believe these problems existed on Oreo. Lets wait a see when an update will be pushed to fix this problem. Until then my wife's Note 9 is staying on Oreo.
For those of you that have updated to Pie how has it affected battery life? Better or worse? If better by how much? SOT Etc

When I got the note 9 the update for Pie was 3 days after so didn't have the chance to have it properly tested, but I think I had the issue on both versions.
This issue exists since Samsung introduced their device maintenance. Switching off batterie optimisation for WhatsApp was the solution for me. Actually only WhatsApp, threema and k9-mail have problems receiving push in standby on my phones, any other apps I use don't have this issue. Therfore I think it's more an issue with the apps, less with the rom. Also Samsung states in the settings that apps in standby may not receive actualisations or send notifications.
Go to stettings->apps->WhatsApp and turn off batterie optimisation
Before Samsung introduced this feature, I was using greenify and had the same issue with some apps.
Like I mentioned earlier. I had issues with Telegram and WhatsApp notifications on Oreo. Now on pie beta 3 no issues. Also my WhatsApp and telegram *are* battery optimized. So I'd say you should be looking at other avenues to remedy this problem. Maybe review the app notifications for whatsapps carefully.

The app notifications are flawless.
The issue is not the notifications, otherwise they would be there but just not being notified on the system.
Even when opening the phone and unlocking it, they are not on the phone, BUT when the app is opened you start actually receiving the messages in a fast manner flow almost like they are just being texted at a very fast pace, so it seems more like they have just been pushed rather than having the message there and simply not notified, otherwise would be having a static last message.
The app seems to be in sleep mode even when whitelisted.
At the moment I have absolutely everything off inside the optimization
The background mobile data is ON
IS even allowed while data saver is ON (Which I don't use anyway)
The sleeping apps, for whatsapp is whitelisted (OFF)
AND it still have the same issue, either the app is optimized or not optimized which does not make sense.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I have 1 note 9 with Gbwhatsapp and another note 9 with stock Whatsapp. Have issues on both.
One was updated to pie and then did factory reset and restored from cloud (unless the backed up settings somehow contributed to an error and other was just OTA updated without any reset. They even operate on different networks.
Seems pretty odd...
To me the app is showing exactly the same behavior as behaving like the list of "sleeping apps", despite the fact it's whitelisted.

You didn't say which message app you are using, it sounds like a permissions issue, or a battery manager settings issue. Make sure that the app is not battery optimized.
By the way, these notification type issues are fully resolved in Miui 11, the first generation of Miui 11 stable for global devices, gets released tomorrow: October 16
its in all apps.
And you now when you use the fingerprint with the wrong finger its Vibrate short this dosent work like the other thinks but its really only sometimes.

I am not having that issue and as far as I know no one else is either. Have you tried a clean install? Did you check and make sure that Do not Disturb mode is not being enabled?
A new update be out tomorrow. So maybe just wait until then. ( Edit, I thought I was on a different thread when I wrote that)
Most likely this issue is caused by a battery saver mode such do not disturb. If that is not what is causing the issue try a clean install.
I faced this issue today , i figured out why it happened ..
Its cuz i turned the ultra battery saver on and after turning off i faced the issue
So i repeated the same steps and its back again
Since the 13.0.4.0 update there were a couple of times when a notification opened the phone's home screen without me unlocking it rather than just lighting up the screen.
Is anyone else having this too?
Yes, I too have the same problem with MIUI 13.0.3.0

That's basically one version before the current one? Because I don't think I had this bug on the MIUI previous to 13.0.4.0.
Has it started to happen only during the last couple of weeks for you or ever since you've installed 13.0.3.0?
I don't know if it's the penultimate version, because it doesn't show me any available updates, so for me this is the latest version available
Yes I have this problem since the update... Besides this problem the phone also started to be terribly slow, it freezes, the screen lights up for no reason, and besides I have some problems also with the vibration due to the pressing the keys, it stops working and then starts again when a notification arrives.
Worst update ever.

Strange, do you have some local version of the phone? The latest update available for me was MIUI Global 13.0.4.0 Stable (SKFMIXM).
I don't know about the rest of your issues, stuff like Netflix hanging up occasionally already happened on earlier versions, perhaps it's a bit better now actually.
Also it seems the grey uniformity of the screen is slightly less blotchy now, which doesn't make sense for a software update to improve. Maybe the OLED getting older reduced differences in voltage response between groups of pixels?
good evening ,
Giovy 52845:
I would recommend resetting the phone to see if that fixes the problem.
Yes i have the same issue on miui 13.0.3
Hello there, registered an account just to write here, I had the same issue, trying to change the notifications, unlock mode, even reseting my phone and all settings I could to fix the unwanted unlock, nothing worked.
But lately, I uninstalled the Vanced Y*utube apps, wich is no longer suported since late march if i remember right, and boom, after a restart of my Redmi Note 10 pro (MIUI 13.0.4), didn'tunlock on notification since 2 weeks!
Hope this help.
I have the same issue, and I am currently on MIUI Global Stable 13.0.8.0 (SKFMIXM). The problem is intermittent, but it happens often enough to be VERY TROUBLING. I reset my phone to factory settings but the problem persists. Looking at this thread as well as other forums, I see this has been an issue since MIUI 13 was first launched.
Note, THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE !!! IT IS ESSENTIALLY A SECURITY FLAW !!! Xiaomi should treat this with the HIGHEST PRIORITY !!! I use NFC for payments. If my phone gets stolen, then there is no immediate protection against fraudulent use of my Wallet since it can be unlocked without any form of authentication ! If this ever happens, and Xiaomi is not proactively and very expeditiously resolving this issue, I will hold that company responsible !

Yup, it's still happening and I realized eventually that the issue is the phone itself simply doesn't lock itself sometimes although the display is turned off. When it happens the fingerprint sensor won't open the screen as it's not actually unlocked, you need to press the button and you can see the screen lights up without actually going through the unlock process.
+1
Currently, I am facing the same issue on the latest Xiaomi.eu ROM V13.0.12.
Earlier I faced it on the stock MIUI after the V13 update.
Anyone face same issue? Whatsapp notification delay on OOS12 . I've try both IND & EU version, same problem persist
Check battery saving options on app itself. It might be due to some saving options.
